About Me
My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.
My Goals
My initial target is 100kg by the end of October, to move from obese to simply overweight. I would like to get my waist size below 40" too. My calorie intake target to achieve that is 1,200 - 1,300 calories/day.
For September my goal is 101.8kg, a loss of 1.8kg (0.45kg or 1 lb/week), and a waist size of 42.5"

09/13-195.8-(Trend Weight 198.8)- A day off of travel allowed me to take the water pill. Wow! What a drop! I was also extremely careful with my diet. A stellar day! Nice way to end a challenge but it will be even more challenging starting next round with this number and still make progress. We all know the food holidays are on the horizon. I’ve got to keep diligent in order to venture into those ahead of the game. This was a great round for so many. Thank you all for sharing your journey, your ideas and your progress with me.
09/14-199.8-(Trend Weight 198.9)- Obviously no water pill yesterday. Hard to gauge progress like this. My weight yesterday would have had me at a loss for the week. Water-logged today does not. Makes me want to throw in the towel because how much information am I really getting anyway? What am I truly tracking anyway? Ugh! Travel today for dental cleanings for son & I so no waterpill today either. I’ll be like a squishy water balloon by tomorrow’s weigh-in.

9/3: 213.8 In the middle of August I dropped 4 pounds in 10 days. I’ve been this weight since 8/19. It’s frustrating but I know what the culprits are, not enough movement and too much stress. I’m trying to work on these this weekend.

9/5: 212.6 Hello!
9/6: 214.9 Yowch! In some serious pain, helping my parents pack and move all weekend has finally caught up with me. I am not in my 20s anymore!

9/9: DNW When I remembered the day was already half over. I’m really struggling with stress and my health has taken a back burner. I don’t like this
9/10: 214.9 Lots of stress and had to eat out yesterday which I never do and that’s a lot of sodium. Hopefully some yoga this weekend.
9/11: 213.1
I got some yoga in yesterday which was nice, more for stress relief and stretching than calorie burn. I have some other self care planned today.
I’m in the US so am remembering all we lost so tragically 21 years ago.
9/12: 212.1 A little frustrating as I’ve only lost 1 pound this month and that’s not the rate I’ve been losing at for the past 5 months. However, I had some really stressful days this month and wasn’t able to be as active and I think stress causes me to retain water. I’m hoping for an easier October!
9/13: 210.7.
Last nights sleep debacle makes sense now, I was up so many times to relieve myself and it’s showing on the scale. I’m hoping my body is letting go of some (or all) of its stress while letting go of it’s water.

No typo. How do I gain 9lbs in less than 48 hours. Food intake the same. This can be so discouraging. I am lost for words.
September 12: 193 lbs
September 13: 188 lbs
September 14: 185.5 lbs Well it took 3 days to go down 8lbs. Sometimes I wonder if Daily tracking is helpful. But knowledge is power.

@Bemybestby60 I applaud you for sticking it out. Last week I gained 3 pounds in 24 hours and there was no change to my diet, liquids, calories or sodium. It took me 5 days to get it off. I was really stressed out in those 24 hours.
I don’t get it either.
Are you really close to a normal body weight for your height? Those last few pounds can be tough. It’s up to you if you want to keep weighing daily or not, you’re right knowledge is power but daily weighing can be a slippery slope! Whatever you decide, you are doing what’s best for you and your body and your mind and we are here to support you!3 -
My journey began on the 30th of July at 142.7 kg (314.59 pounds)
My current goal weight is 133kg (293.215)
During August I lost 7.4 kg (16.3142)
My goals during September are to:
* Measure progress regularly (weight and waist circumference)
* Log food and meet daily food goals each day
* Be more deliberate about exercise, especially little exercises during the work day (I sit at a desk all day)
30 / 7: 142.7 kg
30 / 8: 136.3 kg
01 / 9: 135.4 kg
02 / 9: 135.2 kg
03 / 9: 134.4 kg
04 / 9: 135.1 kg
05 / 9: 134.9 kg
06 / 9: 134.5 kg
07 / 9: 133.9 kg
08 / 9: 134.6 kg
09 / 9: 134.3 kg
10 / 9: 135 kg
11 / 09: 133.7 kg
12 / 09: 133.6 kg
13 / 09: 134 kg
14 / 09: 133.8 kg
15 / 09: 132.9 kg
A long time ago, I set a goal of 133 kg. Don't even remember when. Today I passed that. And I'm so close to 10 kg lost. Maybe tomorrow?
Also, I weigh every day but I suck at updating in here. Been too long.

9/1/22- 175.2 lbs Here's to a better Autumn!
9/2/22- 179.4 lbs :-( How one day can be such a big jump, must be water retention. Only 45 minutes/3.41 miles on my Elliptical. It kept seizing up on me. Hadn't happened before till 2-3 hours in. Guess it's about dead! Checked out another store today with ellipticals. Looked at Octane and Spirit brands today. Previously looked at PreCor and Matrix. Any insight from any of you would be appreciated. The repair guy that had come out 10 days ago said they see many repair needs on Matrix and very early on, that they shouldn't. And long waits for parts on them.
9/3/22- 176.4 lbs
9/4/22- 175 lbs 45 minutes on my elliptical while my roasted butternut squash was roasting. At a wedding today. Tried to be pretty careful and only take a taste of some of the items. Was a impromptu wedding, planned a couple weeks ago for a girl from work, who has been with her beau for 10 years. We all brought a side dish to share. It was very nice for going from a original zoom wedding a few weeks ago to this with a 5-10 minute discussion at a summer work party. As others have said, these things are hard to calculate calories. But I think I did fairly good other than the piece of cake. But you have to have some wedding cake!
9/5/22- 177.2 lbs :-( Stayed true to my plan today. Wanted something sweet so I grabbed a keto chocolate hazelnut cup to stay on point.
9/6/22- 176.2 lbs Still keeping on track. Did my Elliptical for 181 minutes/13.2 miles today. It hasn't bit the dust yet. Some squeaking but only occasionally. After a appointment at 3, I went out comparing different ellipticals. I need to get a new one sooner than later before it totally dies on me.
9/7/22- 176.2 lbs
9/8/22- 176.2 lbs :-( Was hoping for some movement. Stayed on plan, no cheating.
9/9/22- 174.6 lbs :-) Finally!!! Downward movement helps me stay motivated & on track. Off today, did 181 minutes for 12.5 miles on my Elliptical.
9/10/22- 173.6 lbs :-) Yes! 195 minutes on the Elliptical for 13.45 miles.
9/11/22- 173.6 lbs :-| 185 minutes on my elliptical for 12.76 miles.
9/12/22- 173.6 lbs :-|
9/13/22- 174.2 lbs:( Didnt get into my driveway from work till 9:02 PM from 6:15 AM. Ate some cashews that I keep in my car for my dinner on the drive home. Came into the house, showered and went to bed. No time to post.
9/14/22- 173 lbs :-)

@joans1976 I'm also trying to get more movement during work days. We're doing a charity thing called STEPtember at work which is definitely helping.4

Another increase this morning. Calories intake still on track. Only thing I can think of is water retention due to salt/carbs - had an Italian breakfast of sliced meats and a croissant yesterday too - a little indulgence. Have to seriously tighten the reigns if I’m to achieve goal by end of October.4 -

For reference, I am 55f, 5'11" tall, and August 1st got back to a low carb menu in my house after losing a bunch and gaining it back 2 years ago.

09/15-200.2-(Trend Weight 199.0)- Not too bad after travel. It was a very long day. Now I’ve found out that I have some decay (yuk, what a word) under an existing crown. They will not be able to save the crown in order to fix it. Several more appointments necessary between now and mid January. $$$$. I’ve been going through my clothing as I prepare for the fall/winter season in Michigan. Oh my Goodness. What size do I keep in my bedroom and what sizes go upstairs in storage. It’s so back and forth on the scale! I’m going to stay positive and hopeful and keep my next two sizes upstairs but very accessible. I can do this! Family doctor is increasing my Trulicity to stage 3 (of 4) while I await hearing from new endocrinologist. I feel like I’m staying in control/on top of everything (pretty well). I still haven’t heard from cardiology rehab so I am going to start some mild exercise at home on bike (easy level) and stretching. I can’t just keep sitting here and expect to lose calories by blinking!

9/15/22- 171.2 lbs :-) Best motivator ever to stay on point!!!! Off today and tomorrow but have to babysit both days, so I need to be careful without doing my elliptical workouts as my norm.

About Me
My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK.

I’m getting a little frustrated now. I’ve been pretty much sticking to my target calories intake yet my weight has increased by 0.5kg over the past few days rather than fall. I really don’t understand it, been counting my calories as accurately as I am able without becoming obsessive. Today is a fast day - I skip lunch and dinner - so hopefully see some improvement tomorrow.3 -

September Goal Weight: 205.6
Ultimate Goal Weight: 180.0
I am late to the game, but weigh every day due to heart failure and fluid issues. I am finally making a daily weight check part of my morning routine (It had been doctors advice for a couple of years now but I just could not get in the routine of it)
For reference, I am 55f, 5'11" tall, and August 1st got back to a low carb menu in my house after losing a bunch and gaining it back 2 years ago.
SEPTEMBER GOALS (DAILY):
⚖️ Weigh in
👟 Walk 5,500+ steps (Starting September 15th- nice to add something to the daily goal)

Whatever you decide, you are doing what’s best for you and your body and your mind and we are here to support you!
I guess for me knowing that I can gain so much weight overnight is has two outcomes. One with a negative emotion that causes anxiety but also a positive outcome because if I stick with my plan I will lose that rapid weight gain. So when I say knowledge is power it helps me stay on track. In the past I would just give up and start back not tracking and not working out. Thanks for you input it is greatly appreciated. Yeah I am not near my goal weight.3 -
My start weight today is 189 lbs. My goal is to get back to 180 lbs.
September 1: 189 lbs
September 7: 186 lbs. Wednesday regular weigh-in. So down 3lbs have 6 more to go.
September 8: 186 lbs
September 9: 184.5 lbs
September 10:
September 11: 193.5 lbs

My September goals are to get more movement in on workdays-this is severely lacking and to be more mindful of self care.
OSW: 250
UGW: 150 ish
9/30 GW: 208
December 2022 GW: Onederland
CW: 213.1
9/1: 213.1
9/2: 213.8
9/3: 213.8 In the middle of August I dropped 4 pounds in 10 days. I’ve been this weight since 8/19. It’s frustrating but I know what the culprits are, not enough movement and too much stress. I’m trying to work on these this weekend.
9/4: 213.1
9/5: 212.6 Hello!
9/6: 214.9 Yowch! In some serious pain, helping my parents pack and move all weekend has finally caught up with me. I am not in my 20s anymore!
9/7: 213.9 Ups and downs
9/8: 213.4 Bad sleep last night, lots of stress, feel like I will never get away from 213!
9/14: 210.7
9/15: 210.7
9/16: 211.25 -
@Bemybestby60 I think you are doing a splendid job, sticking with it and making progress overall. But yes, I would be really frustrated if I gained 9 pounds overnight. In fact, I’m pretty sure I would buy a new scale!
I wish I had some of your height! I look like an old weeble wobble toy from the 80s I’m so short and squat!3 -
My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 62 years old and from the Midwest USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

09/16-199.0-(Trend Weight 199.0)- I could have done much better yesterday. Followed my food plan very well until bedtime TV time. Then I had milk and some leftover sidedish from dinner for a snack which put me over. Also, I planned on starting some exercise but didn’t as I ended up babysitting unexpectedly for a couple hours last night until 9:30 pm. That is usually exercise enough! It’s nice to see the scale back under 200 so I’ll call myself satisfied for today. I’m planning an excellent day today. I always babysit on Fridays so he’ll keep me on my toes! He’s the one you saw in the wedding pic. Don’t let that sweet smile fool ya!

Hi there!
My name is Ashley, I'm 35 years old, and in early 2021 I weighed 293 pounds.
I'm now in my maintenance range (160-165). I have learned so much about myself through this process!
Sep 1 - 163 (I knew I had a long day at work so I got up before 5 to ride the Peloton. Work did go late, but I managed to fit a dog walk and a strength session in tonight as well. Feels good!)
Sep 2 - 163.8 (Checking in from the back seat of my vehicle as we drive across two provinces of Canada to get to my Aunt's wedding.)
Sep 3 - 162.8 (Hotel breakfast and then I hit the hotel gym for a treadmill session. Lunch was fairly indulgent and there is a reasonable amount of alcohol around for pre-wedding socializing. Trying to pace myself.)
Sep 4 - 166.2
Sep 5 - 166
Sep 6 - 165.6 (We had a fantastic time at the wedding. Definitely ate and drank way too much BUT that's the good thing about daily weighing.. doesn't turn into a 3 month binge. We are back on the road home today so it's another 11 hour day in the car. Tomorrow we start driving west for my husband's bike race but we are breaking that drive up so tomorrow and Thursday's jaunts won't be such long days. Lots of car time means when I'm out of it I need to be moving!)
Sep 7- 165.2 (Today we are driving west to Kamloops, BC. We are on our way to Vancouver for my husband's Gran Fondo on Saturday. I just had a diner meal that was much heavier than my normal choices. Getting a bit caught up in vacation mode decision making.)
Sep 8 - 167 (Up and on the road again this afternoon. Almost in Vancouver. Tonight is the Bills home opener so we are going to go out to watch the game.)
Sep 9 - 168.6 (We watched the Bills win and then went out for supper to an Italian restaurant. I track on holiday so the weight going up is expected based on the overconsumption. Unfortunately yesterday was a day of low movement as well.)
Sep 10 - 171.4 (Started the day with a 60 minute Peloton app ride on the gym bike. Then I drove from Vancouver to Whistler in insanely bad traffic to cheer my husband on as he completed his second Gran Fondo of the season. We had an absolutely delicious meal out. The restaurant food has been very indulgent this trip.)
Sep 11 - DNW (ATV trip today. Enjoying coffee on our patio before we go.)
Sep 12 - DNW (Today we leave Whistler and head towards Victoria for a funeral tomorrow. We will see what activities we get up to on the way.)
Sep 13 - 172.6 (In Victoria, BC where I have not been in well over 15 years. Leaving shortly for the celebration of life.)
Sep 14 - 171.4
Sep 15 - 170.4
Sep 16 - 170.8 (We are driving East now with our final stop of the vacation planned for Penticton, BC before we head home Sunday.)4 -

At last, weight dropped to new low. Didn’t do fasting yesterday, got the munchies and then that was it. Going to fast today instead. Friend’s birthday party tomorrow so big lunch out. It’s going to cost me. Maybe I can eat half portions? Or would that be torture!4 -
My September goals are to get more movement in on workdays-this is severely lacking and to be more mindful of self care.

9/7: 213.9 Ups and downs
9/8: 213.4 Bad sleep last night, lots of stress, feel like I will never get away from 213!

This is exciting, to be in a new decade (wish I had that nifty little scratch off thing @deepwoodslady has.) Getting some exercise and self care in this weekend.5 -
My start weight today is 189 lbs. My goal is to get back to 180 lbs.
September 1: 189 lbs
September 7: 186 lbs. Wednesday regular weigh-in. So down 3lbs have 6 more to go.
September 8: 186 lbs
September 9: 184.5 lbs

September 11: 193.5 lbs

@joans1976
I borrowed this from some other clever person on MFP. Here is how you type it into your post notes. The letter s will stand for scratch off. If you have any questions, let me know. Also, you can change the colors if you like. I did. You'll notice I started the higher weights with the s. I ended the scratching off with a backsplash symbol and the s. Now I've got to get through the 190's! I think you will see it spelled out if you hit quote under this post.
