@Stockholm_Andy WOW. Those pics are amazing!
AF - Nov 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10
A- Nov 5 (1 wine), 6 (4 oz beer), 9 (1wine)
The Buzbee blood orange tonic water was a real winner. Definitely buying it again.3 -
November accountability: 3 days AF
Alcohol: 7 days (18 drinks)
Goal: Limit 2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
11/10 - AF
Finally just told myself I needed another AF evening to add to my November record. Drank a spicy tomato juice and then ice tea ... and did not indulge in the bourbon & coke with DH.

Really nice pictures @Stockholm_Andy, the deep blue skies and sea especially. Thanks for sharing that vibe!
@MissMay, I hope you have some Orlando pix? I used to go to the St. Pete and Sarasota areas and have to say mid-late November is really a great time to go.
Contemplating sticking around a few more months in my very toxic job which I guarantee will lead to bad health....and consider either asking for a part time role and if my wishes are not granted, then be prepared to say good-bye.
Sometimes you just need to take charge of #1 and thank you @joans1976, @dawnbgethealthy, and others for your comments. Sometimes the toxicity in your life is not the alcohol, it the other stuff - work, family, situations, etc. And the solution is getting this toxicity out of one's life.
Not drinking or eating much these days but not exercising much either, so I am just not myself these days.

Hey everybody! This is my 5th month and I am so grateful to have found this group!
My goal is to not turn to alcohol this month no matter how stressful work or my physical health gets!
Best wishes to everyone to meet their goals this month!

Just so tired all the time.
11/9: AF
I’m an eating machine. Seem to be eating my emotions.
11/10: AF
Finally Friday! I have 4 appointments and I plan to sleep between all of them!6 -
@globalhiker I say make a plan now for exiting the toxic job, if you can. You probably cannot or you would have left already. I had a plan to be gone from my toxic job by mid January, then my diagnosis came along and all of that has gone out the window. I should be spending more time figuring it out but I don’t know where I’ll be in a month, two months, three with my treatment so it’s hard to plan. I don’t know why we stay at toxic jobs-for me it’s partially the fear of the unknown.
No matter what you decide to do, I’m rooting for you!4 -
Nov 1- Nov 2 - AF
Nov 3- Nov 4- Nov 5 A (wine 3 glasses each)

@Stockholm_Andy
Those photos!! Wow!
Such compelling painting was done on the dresser mirror area! We have a couple of painters here on this group, that just might spark some inspiration.
I enjoyed all of the scenery and settings, but I always love to see markets from around the world, so I am very glad that you included a photo of that.
Thank you for sharing : - )

@globalhiker
I know that you will feel better if you get out for a little run.
Good plan to try to move to part time.3 -
@joans1976
Yeah, a plan to quit your job will have to go on hold as you need to go through treatments.2 -

This November the 28th, (my late Dad's birthday) will mark my 4th year on this thread.
Not only has it kept me accountable for my alcohol consumption, it truly has become a community for me, especially while we were in various lockdowns.
Sticking with my (reachable) goal of the last few years, 16-20 AF days. I have been successful each month with this expect for most recently in September when I was having a Margarita every day in Mexico and reached only 14AF for the month.
Diary Style:
Thursday November 10 - 2 drinks - Just a case of poor willpower, I confess that I didn't try very hard. Going to aim for an AF Friday, I haven't had one of those in a long time.
Rolling total: 3AF days out of 10 days3 -
AF - Nov 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11
A- Nov 5 (1 wine), 6 (4 oz beer), 9 (1wine)
I ordered a mocktail from the restaurant menu, Ginger Lime Fizz. Not too different from what I’ve been doing but had full sugar products. Good but too sweet!4 -

I’m currently supporting a good friend whose mother was an alcoholic. She went through medical detox many times but was not able to stick with it. (Her husband refused to stop drinking so she would come home from rehab and have alcohol staring her in the face.) She was detoxing at home this week and had a cardiac event and died. My friend is shattered and so very, very angry. Her mom was only 70 and left behind a lot of family. It’s very sad and makes me thankful I have largely given up A.10 -

There is an interesting book that’s been out for a while called “The Body Keeps the Score”, which talks about the effect of trauma (even every day trauma such as being in a toxic relationship, job, etc.) and it’s effect on the body and the brain. Our bodies “store” the trauma. Really fascinating.

@joans1976 oh that’s awful! I’m so sorry to hear this. Your poor friend must be going through so many emotions right now. Hugs to you both!4

I had the mother of all headaches yesterday, kicked off because I forgot to grab my serving of cashews before my workout. Yes, apparently I am The Princess and the Pea because I need that little bit of protein and sodium, and fall apart without it. Hey, I’m a delicate flower, what can I tell you? Maybe the change of barometric pressure, fun peri-menopause symptoms, who even freaking knows at this point.
Good news is I didn’t have any alcohol last night, so that’s a big 2 AF days for the month of November. I actually feel better without it.
I feel back to normal today. Whew!8 -

A very fun day but much of it was spent out in the South Florida heat! I walked to a nearby garden club festival in the morning and then was at a marine conservation event in the afternoon. We met some friends for a drink at our favorite brewery. So refreshing after all that sun (don't worry - there was water, too). Now the plan is AF to Thanksgiving!5 -
Thank you, all of you with your positive advices (I needed this), I believe in what you say, @Womona, I will look up the "Body keeps the Score" because I believe in this concept. I appreciate all your supportive comments....and as @dawnbgethealthy who knows me and can tell, I am guilty of not running regularly and this is what I need (thank you!)....sometimes we just need less stress, less work, and more exercise to make us balanced.
@joans1976 amazing for you for being the strong woman that you are and being able to handle the stresses so well. You inspire me and all of us around you.5 -

Alcohol: 8 days (21 drinks)
Goal: Limit 2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
11/11 - 3 wine ; DD at the house this weekend w/ our granddaughter. 3 bottles wine opened and I indulged in 3 glasses
11/12 - AF; skipped the open bottle of wine and had Clausthaler non-alcoholic beer instead
11/13 - Goal to be AF again this evening
Daughter (age 30) had a breast exam Friday due o new lumps (she has had exams and biopsies since age 21 plus my mom & sister both had breast cancer so we are extra diligent). All is clear! Granddaughter #2 (4.5 months) has a bad cold ... saw the doctor on Friday and all is good just have to work through it and monitor. Son in law is out of down on bachelor's trip so our daughter came over for the weekend to get support with the little one and her 2 golden doodles. Seeing our granddaughter sick just breaks my heart but I've loved cuddling her and seeing her big smiles even with the wet coughs, watery eyes and running nose.6 -
Hello to you wonderful, awesome, determined to live our best life people! hehe.
@Stockholm_Andy I love love love your pictures
Anyway, not AF much so far this month. The stress of our homeless, the sale of the building, DH closing his business he has run for 40+ years to retire, His family drama surrounding his parents and siblings (not good) and you know life?
I am working on my mental state so have not been here much. I am/have continued with my workouts, this is very important to me. Just finished week 6 of 12 of my lifting schedule and am progressing well. The first weeks DOMS was a bit of a problem but now seems to have scaled back to just the constant ache LOL.
@MissMay thank you for sharing your trip adventure LOL. I will get back to your new neck of the woods in the next year or so. We will meet up! (paints and canvas in hand)
miss you all and will check in when I can6 -

Saturday November 12 - Drinks. Plan is to get a handle on this, I have been really off course, and so much drinking has led to an 8 pound weight gain. My body is trying to protect me I suppose, and holding on to weight to counteract the addition of alcohol.

I took a break but I'm back.

Hey group 👋🖐👋(waving)
Yeah I am back from Orlando. This trip was planned 5 months ago, so little did we know a tropical storm/cat 1 hurricane would be part of the entertainment. Geeze!
Our resort was very solid and only minor stuff happened. But they had to start to prepare for it in advance to it's arrival. Which means they clear out all the pool areas of chairs, tables, umbrellas, chaise loungers, etc. All activities canceled, dining room closed down, shuttle service stopped they even shut off all the fountains. But the sprinklers still came on. Lol
After the threat we drove into Orlando. All of Disney was still shut down.......but we stumbled across Margaritiaville, you know Jimmy Buffetts resorts! We HAD to go in. It was amazing and alive with fun people and so much to see. Of course we went to the bar in there and I had a sprite/cranberry in a stemmed glass. So glad we ventured out and about to explore the town.
I did not stay dry/AF but I did not go to far off my goals either. Great time despite the darn weather.
@Stockholm_Andy incredible photos. And your Daughter is beautiful!
@Womona you are a "delicate flower"🌼 too funny, glad your feeling better.
@joans1976 that is so sad. Please take some time for yourself.
@globalhiker these jobs are not worth the stress, believe me. I hope you can make a healthy choice of what to do soon.
@lmlmrn your fitness link went to a deadend when I clicked on it. You'll get on track soon, after all the smoke clears. Fingers crossed for you.
Two days back on the AF train. Time to chalk 'em up. And get back to my weighted workouts 🏋️♀️
Good thing we shopped for food so we could make our own meals during that time.8 -

Ugh, found a new lump in my left armpit last night. The left side is my “good” side. Phone calls to make today. I’ve been kind of in limbo waiting for a surgery date and that’s nerve wracking, not knowing what’s going to happen with my schedule and Christmas. Bali has been completely canceled now 😔I was trying to postpone it and was searching for new dates and in the meantime the airline just completely canceled my flight, with no explanation. Grrr. I WILL get there, it just may not be until February or March.7
