Hashimoto's Disease -2023 Support Group

Hello Ladies!
I'm in my 50's and I've been dx with Hashimoto last month. I have been slowly gaining weight through the years but these last 2 years I have gained weigh more easily than ever before. That's when I went to my doctor and found that I have Hashimoto. Looking for others in the same situation that would like to take this journey with me.

I don't have Hashi's, but am severely hypothyroid (properly medicated). I'm not trying to break into your intended group, because I know Hashi's has specific issues distinct from other types of hypothyroidism. I just stopped in to:

    (1) Wish you well (this can work!), and

    (2) For you and others reading, point out a very good thread here about hypothyroidism. It was written by an MFP-er who is a scientist in the field, himself hypothyroid (surgically removed, IIRC), and who lost weight by calorie counting. Since there are a lot of websites - sadly - making unsubstantiated claims about hypothyroidism and its treatment, I think this evidence-based assessment can be helpful . . . although it may not make the soothing claims that some sites do when they're trying clickbait us or sell us their "miracle cure". 😆

Wishing you much success with MFP!
