Finally got back on the bike yesterday - kind of mandated, as I'd bought tickets for the Flight of the Dove sportive and my daughter was doing it with me! Had to do that 14(ish) mile ride.

Legs felt good, so got back onto Zwift today. Legs are fine (scabs are soft and raw flesh is tingly in a not-so-nice way). What's killing me is the flippin' right arm. Right finger's still soar so I can't shift my road bike easily, right arm's a bust (not busted, fortunately, but still a bust) so can't shift on the bar-end shifters. Can get out of the saddle if I remember to rest my weight on my left arm (re: I didn't shift my weight to the right arm today and my right arm is punishing me for it).

At least the legs got spinning again. Hopefully in another week or so I can handle some light jogging and perhaps some planks.

    Ride 1 - 13.91 miles (FotD)
    Ride 2 - 10.07 miles (Zwift)

Did a nice Zwift ride today via the climb portal. Took it a smidge too hard (one of these days I'll learn how to not go full gas up a Zwift climb, I swear) - may preemptively dial down the trainer difficulty for tomorrow's ride.

Started the 'Back to Fitness' workout program in Zwift again - my SO is doing it for his first time, so I'm accompanying him. Good times! This workout plan is great.

My lack of self control bites me in the patotie constantly - latched onto a fast-moving group instead of taking it easy like I should have. Every scab and the right arm are griping at my stunted intellect right now.

FINALLY feeling almost decent enough to get in a makeup ride today. Plus had enough hours in the day to facilitate one. Arm's still crap, but it's slowly getting better!

Steady as she goes! Short rides in Zwift. Had enough time to get in a makeup ride for a day my crash took out. Arm didn't want to flog me at the end of these because I actually remembered to take it real easy, which meant next to no time on the handlebars.

Back from our driving trip in France. We started in Nice then covered a good few of the Cols including Turini, Lautaret, Galibier, Telegraphe, Mont Blanc. Then travelled back down by Col de Croix de Fer, Alpe d’Huez and last Mont Ventoux. And home from Marseille. I can still hardly take it all in.
Glad to see ur recovering and back on ur bike @wendsg

@Mari33a That sounds like a dreamy vacation!! Knowing me, I would've been whining for a bike the entire time if I hadn't brought one and been jonesin' to climb every single col.

Daily 10 done today. Missed yesterday because we went to the Zoo instead. Will do a makeup ride... later. Arm is soar, legs are fine, spirits are decent. Going to start doing some light arm circles tomorrow (without weights) to start working the muscles again and (hopefully) expedite recovery.

Was actually able to kneel today (on a cushioned pad, but progress) in order to weed my planters. Arm's still being a pain in the butt. Can reach only about a 70 degree angle with respect to myself for arm circles (a bit shy of parallel with the ground, but closer to parallel than not). Did arm circles at 45 degrees, though, so the full circle brought the arm up to its current limit. Thinking I'll be doing a few minutes of arm circles M/W/F for about 5 minutes each day this week. Next week we'll see about every day for 5, and then progress into multiple times a day from there. Yay, physio. :grimace:

Did a meetup today rather than the daily 10, and man was it fun! I love riding with people in Zwift - you get a truly diverse group. Folks from other countries, folks from the other side of this continent, a whole smorgasbord getting together to have fun riding.

Haven’t posted in a minute, but it seems I haven’t missed much. Back in the bike after a 7-week hiatus to heal my broken ribs.

    1484/2023 and 81,250’ for YTD

The bike tour in June was amazing, other than the sudden ending. Oops. 231 miles and 12k’ over 5 days. Despite the time off, and poor diet during recovery, I feel like I haven’t lost too much. Now to re-form the better habits!

Well, I'm really late to the party as I only found MFP community recently!

I'm Chris and a 30 year old male in Iowa. I picked up a bike for the first time last fall since being 16, and fell in absolute love with HIIT cycling/spin classes over the winter as I started my most recent AND LAST weight loss and health journey. I began November at 270 pounds and currently am at 219.

Took my first ever cycle class on November 15, 2022 and wow was I HOOKED. Despite hurting like a mother** after, cycling quickly rocketed to the top of the list of favorite workouts. I have ridden quite a bit over the winter indoors and the weather finally cooperated and I moved some rides outside in April while still riding inside 2x a week with my favorite instructors.

Just today I rode my best indoor ride since I began - 50 minute class averaged 281 watts. A far cry from the 125 of my first class (I track every class watts, speed, distance, time, instructor) and am approaching consistent 2.8 watts/KG.

    Stats YTD:
    Indoor mileage - 1,954.20
    Outdoor mileage - 408.45
    Total - 2,362.65 (64.1% of 3,685 goal)

Given I've already exceeded 2023 miles, my goal is to keep my pace and end the year at 3,685 or more (if my math is right!).

Looking forward to chatting with you all

50 minute indoor endurance ride today after my 45 minute strength workout. Was going to ride outside but with the heat wave we were above 90 degrees at 8am. No thanks!

As a strength rider, I've been trying to challenge myself to stay in zone 3 and ride 90rpm. Got bored so every 5 minutes did a 30 second sprint into zone 4. Managed to end the ride with 19.8 miles at average 90 RPM with max 125.

    Stats YTD:
    Indoor mileage - 1974.00
    Outdoor mileage - 408.45
    Total - 2,382.45 (64.7% of 3,685 goal)

    @cszulc Welcome to to group?

What part of Iowa are you from? My dad was born there and my parents met at university of Iowa. I still have a lot of family there - mostly around Des Moines.

What type of indoor set up do you have? I love my Peloton. I keep trying to work up the nerve to get my bike fixed up and ride outside, but the traffic in Houston scares me and the hills in Telluride scare me more. I split my time between both places.

    @SavageMrsMoose thanks!

I am in Des Moines area! Originally grew up in Chicago suburbs but been here since college.

No indoor bike at home, but my gym has Stages exercise bikes. I toyed with getting a Peloton (I do use them in hotels when travelling) but I feel I get more out of a live class so not sure the Peloton would be worth the price. Been going regularly now I have my favorite instructors and they are quite motivating though I know peloton riders have their favorites too!

Yesterday and today combined into a singular post once more. Doing plenty of Zwifting to avoid traffic and get the legs going. Right arm's still being problematic, but I can lift things a little with it, indicating slow, steady recovery.
