February 2023 Monthly Running Challenge

Didn’t have any “alone” time today so I ran in circles around my kids on their bikes up and down the street. It felt like I was actively practicing passing runners in a race- weaving in and out. Unfortunately the kids were cold and so we only were out for a little bit, but the 2.6km brought me over my monthly goal with two days to spare.
I’m currently at 201/200 .
My work schedule is changing for the next 3 weeks tomorrow, so I will have to do all my runs at lunchtime. I am not looking forward to the change, but as long as I can get the runs to somehow fit into my schedule, it should be ok.6 -
Didn't do any exercise yesterday (oops!) even though weekends are usually my best time to get outside. I was pretty productive at home, though! I knew that I needed to get out today, to try to keep up the habit. Nice and sunny, and I had a good audiobook, but I was just struggling to get in the mood. So ran intervals for 1 mile and walked 1 mile, then headed home.7

I thought that the weather was going to be nice this morning, but it really wasn't. It was 54°F with little wind which is usually perfect for me. But it was foggy and I felt chilly starting out. I wore shorts and a t-shirt with sleeves. I took the sleeves off about 2 miles in, but I was glad I had them starting out. I ran 10 miles. It was kind of a tough run this morning, but I felt really good about getting it done. This kind of weather makes me feel discouraged and unmotivated so I feel pretty good that I got out there and got it done.
I guess I overshot my goal. I don't really remember why I set a shorter goal this month. I guess I should have stuck with 100 miles.
Thanks for sharing the story about Spencer @shanaber. That is so sweet. That is why I love dogs.

My week five "long" day increased the running part to five minute runs on this walk/run routine. Super nice to be out in the clear post-rain warm sunshine.
I just found the: Garmin Connect <Reports> -- <Progress Summary> tab on the webpage. I've done 12 runs and almost sixteen miles. I think I can set a February running goal of "13 runs" and "19 miles."
I'm being silly because I'm only running one more time in February, however knowing this will allow me to set up a reasonable monthly goal for March.8 -

Morning everyone!
Got in a 4 this morning!
(The audacity of a colleague to put in a 09:45 in my diary! 😡)6 -
@tarun_yadavA I have not seen "The Departed," but can imagine what that scene would be like. You did great getting out for runs when you were hung over.
@SummerSkier You are very speedy, regardless of what Apple says. LOL Have you checked your route with map my run to see how close the two measurements are? I find that to be a pretty accurate app. Good luck with the tennis!
@Laurz9191 I think it is great that you run around the kids on their bikes. You are modeling a healthy lifestyle that they should thank you for later. And love that you take it as race day practice. Congrats on meeting your monthly goal and good luck with your change in work schedule.
@Tramboman I hate it when I look at my watch, thinking I am going really fast and should be at almost a mile and I'm only half a mile in. It's so disheartening. You did great.
@ScienceofTeaching Getting out the door is often the hardest part of a run. You did fantastic to get out and do what you could.
@kgirlhart Congrats on getting out in that weather and getting 10 miles in. The dampness makes it feel so much colder than it is.
You're doing great @chris_in_cal !
Welcome back to the monk lifestyle @tarun_yadavA ! Great speedy run this morning. Early Monday morning meetings are hard.4 -

Mostly cloudy, low 30s F, with a light wind from the southeast. Saw 3 sandhill cranes this morning; we only get to see them during their migration. Last February run done; goal met.7 -

So close to my 100-mile goal! Surely I can get out tomorrow for less than 4 miles! I texted our running group yesterday around noon that we would be running the hilly route this morning. No one responded to my text until about 7 last night and only me and one other person showed up this morning. I mean on a typical day we only have 3 or 4 of us running, sometimes 6, but it was still funny.
Congrats on exceeding your February goal @Tramboman!

@quilteryoyo - haha, thank you! I've just got used to starting my work day at 10ish.
PS: Departed - great movie!
@Teresa502 - one small run and you nailed it! Well done! 🙌2 -
Had 46 minutes to exercise today, as I was in a bit of a time crunch, but made the best of it with 8km on the treadmill. Strava cheated me out over 400 meters .
So far in February I am 209/200 km with 1x 90 minute long run to go tomorrow. If all goes as planned I’ll make it to 224 or 225km for February.5 -
Yeah! I made goal! We are getting lovely cold crisp weather at the moment and last night we could see the Northern Lights from behind our house, there's a photo in the spoiler.

Easy run on the neighborhood trail this morning. The weather was so weird. It was super muggy when I started. About halfway through the wind picked up and it felt like I was running through little bands of air conditioning. Such an odd feeling. It sort of felt like it might storm but it didn't. And now you can hardly tell anything stormy happened this morning.5 -
8 miles this evening. Went out too fast for a 73°F day...had to walk about halfway during my water break, but then was fine. Should have been slower for this easy run, but it felt pretty good.
I would volunteer to setup the March thread, but seems like everytime I do it it ends up in the wrong category. So if @shaber or @martaindale or other more competent person has time that would be awesome!!n

Congrats @spl8
Meet goals one month at a time seems like a solid plan. Keep on it!3 -
Here you go @Scott6255 (and everyone else too 😁)

We have rain again most all of this week, rain and wind again on Wednesday to start off March. I am sitting at just over 37 miles for February, all walking but hope to hit 40 with a short walk if there is a break in the rain.8

Morning all.
Got a 9K in this morning6 -

A bit less. Shorter month. No runs, two days either side of Marathon... So going for a bit less.
Both goals achieved! Marathon... And 133 !

Great running @Tramboman . It's great that you get sandhill cranes passing through. Another sign of spring.
@Teresa502 I guess your group don't like the hilly route...but around here, aren't they all? You are doing great and can get those last 4 miles today.
You're doing great @Laurz9191 !
Great running @Mari33a . It would be so cool to get to see the Northern Lights.
Nice run @martaindale . The air conditions does sound odd. Sort of like when you are in a lake and suddenly hit a cold spot and then it's warm again, I would guess.
Great running @Scott6255 . We forget how much the higher temps affect us. Congrats on going over your goal.
Congrats on making your goal @slp8 !
Thanks for setting up March @shanaber ! Where did February go? Time is going by too fast these days.
Great run this morning @tarun_yadavA ! Congrats on meeting all of your monthly goals!
I didn't have time to post my activities the last couple of days. I did do my Sunday Rest Day walk of 2.30 miles in order to get my monthly total to an even half mile. Yesterday was a very busy day. I had a training I needed to go to after work and it had been raining/looked like it would pour any minute, so tried to do crazy laps in the church - up/down stairs, walk hallway doing a lap in each room I passed, up/down stairs, repeat. But, Garmin wasn't really picking it up and after 8 min had me only going .25 miles. So, I ventured outdoors and manage to get in a fast 1.50 miles outside, with only a sprinkle before I had to stop and head in for the training session. I did another mile on the treadmill after I got home. So, counted 2.50 miles yesterday. I'll post my total for the month after my planned run this afternoon.

Quick 3 miles before work this morning with the bonus of it being relatively cool. It's going to be hot today. There were a surprising number of people out running before 6am today. Usually when I'm out that early I see 1-2 people max.
The weather is still holding up for the HM this Saturday. Upper 40's rising to maybe mid 50's by the time I'm done. Fingers crossed it continues to hold.8 -
