Hello, I'm Darlene. I'm 62. I Married, and have one kid (28) and one pup (Monty), no grandkids. I have been retired since 2020. My husband was retired, but returned to work in January. I vowed to take this year to lose weight, get healthy, give up some bad habits, exercise, read more, etc. I started a few challenges last month to see which ones I liked, this is one that kept me accountable so I am back! Looking forward to see what May brings!

    Start Weight: 227
    Goal Weight: 160

    January weight Lost: 9 Pounds
    February weight Lost: 5 Pounds
    March weight Lost: 5 Pounds
    April weight Lost: 8 Pounds

    My goals for May:
    Lose 4 Pounds โš–๏ธ
Log 50 Fit Bit Miles Per Week ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Read 1/2 Hour each Day (at least 5 days/week) ๐Ÿ“–
Knit 1/2 Hour each Day (at least 5 days/week) ๐Ÿงถ

    ๐ŸŒปMay ๐ŸŒป

1 - 200.2 - Very close to Onederland - hoping to get there this week! ๐Ÿคž
    2 - 199.8 - ๐Ÿ˜Made it! Now to keep it there!
    3 - 200.0 - :s
    4 - 200.0 :s
    5 - 199.6 - :) Well let's try this again!
    6 - 199.6 :|
    7 - 199 - ๐Ÿ˜ Woo Hoo! Don't know how that happend, but I'll take it.
    8 - 199.4 - :s
    9 - 198.6 - ๐Ÿ˜
10 - 197.2 - ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ That one deserves a double Woo Hoo! Probably be up tomorrow! LOL
11 - 198.2 - :s Called it! But I still like the May trend. Have a couple of challenging days ahead. My daughter is coming over tomorrow night. We are celebrating her birthday and Mother's day. She is spending then night, and then we all will go to my Mom's to take her out for breakfast for Mother's day. Hoping to make some good choices.
12 - 197.6 :| Thinking that scale was wrong on Wed; but getting back there.
13 - 197.8 :s What I expected. Went out with the family last night for dinner. Didn't really think I overdid it, tried to estimate the calories for MFP, and was under calorie range, but think that it was probably salty. Have breakfast with Mom this morning, then I hope to eat light the rest of the day, and get in my excercise, walk Monty. Hoping it's down tomorrow.
    14 - 196.6 ๐Ÿ˜
    15 - 196.4 ๐Ÿ˜
    16 - 196.4 ๐Ÿ˜
    17 - 196.6 :s
18 - 196.8 :| Although I am up today, I'm giving it a neutral face as I expected it. Was out last night with my sister and her husband. We are on a trivia team and get together every other week for dinner and trivia. We aren't very good, but have a wonderful time. I was mindful of what I ate during the day, and made wise choices. Still stayed within my total calorie range, but I notice that if I use all the calories gain from exercise I tend to go up for a day or two. My normal goal is to use only half of them. I am also giving myself a๐Ÿ˜. I organized my walk in closet yesterday. I tried on a few things that I haven't been able to wear for a few years and low and behold some fit.
    19 - 196.8 :s
    20 - 197 :s
    21 - 196.8 :|
    22 - 196.2 ๐Ÿ˜
    23 - 195 ๐Ÿ˜
    24 - 195 :|
    25 - 195 :|

05/24-196.8-(Trend Weight 195.6)- A small drop on the scale but a continual increase in trend weight. I must do better! Yesterday was a wild day. I took my elderly friend for a very slow walk with her poodle to a hiking trail. We were only about 3 minutes in when she said her legs were feeling very tired and weak so we turned back around. Before we could clear the woods (we could even see the cars through the leaves) she said she had to sit down and tried to sit down on a big log. She then got stuck not able to quite sit down and not strong enough to stand again. I tried like hell to get her standing all the way to no avail. A man and his son came along on their bikes and I asked for help. They tried too. We could get her up standing, but then her legs would collapse again. They were just too weak. I had to call an ambulance for a lift assist to my car. I drove her back home. After resting for a bit during the 2 minutes ride, she was able to get out with the assistance of her walker which she had left at home but isnโ€™t really using yet (she picked it up at a resale shop for the future). I got her in the house, rested her, then we went on her front porch with coffee and water for a couple of hours. I got her a small snack. Poor girl was embarrassed, frustrated and upset for a bit. She is 78 now but she has lost a lot of muscle mass from lack of activity. She does sit around too much although she used to be my walking partner and did a lot of walking and gardening in her day. She does very little these days and itโ€™s really hurt her overall agility. I take her to a lot of her dr appointments and they all keep telling her to walk, to exercise, to move move move but she has just given a lot of it up. It was a great lesson for me since I am only 2 years into my own retirement. Iโ€™ve got to keep moving! She will have to start small (and use her walker) and slowly build back up or she will end up in a wheelchair. Itโ€™s sad to see the deterioration and aging of a dear friend of over 25 years.

05/25-194.2-(Trend Weight 195.5)- Thereโ€™s the scale whoosh Iโ€™ve been waiting for! My trend weight is remaining cautiously optimistic. I woke up really hungry today so it is going to be uphill all day. I must plan carefully for volume without added calories or carbs.

05/26-192.0-(Trend Weight 195.1)- Calories were good yesterday but the carbs were slightly up. I made all good choices and substitutions in my foods. Late last night I was craving chocolate so I had two pieces of Russell Stovers sugar-free candy. It put me over on carbs by a bit but doesnโ€™t seem to have hurt the scale. I will try to pre-log and remain diligent today. I hope to get through the U.S. Holiday weekend without too much damage.

    24 - 195 :|
    25 - 195 :|
    26 - 195.2 :s
    27 - 194.8 ๐Ÿ˜

My name is Donna. I am 5โ€™ 5โ€ tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

My mini-challenge is to lose 6 pounds between My birthday and July 4th. My birthday morning weigh-in (May 10th) was 195.1. I hope to be at 189.1 by the morning of July 4th, 2023.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

05/27-193.8-(Trend Weight 195.0)- Iโ€™m a bit shocked at the overnight gain (I wish I could call it an uptick or fluctuation). I did go to dinner last night for the fish fry. However, I only ate half of the dinner, drank water with lemon, skipped breakfast and lunch for an OMAD day. One snack late last night (a hand full of unsalted nuts). Good TMI, medium activity level. Small amount of exercise while babysitting DGS. Cons were: not enough water and not enough sleep last night. Thatโ€™s a big jump on the scale overnight! Sodium from the dinner? Perhaps. My endocrinologist took me off of my water pill at the recent appointment. He said that it is bad for my kidneys (which is already taxed with diabetes). He said that pill (given by cardiologist) would have been the 5th or 6th defense or choice with a diabetic. He put me on a different blood pressure pill. I finished out my pill holder day before yesterday (which still had water pills in it), so I am now in fear of my ankles getting too swollen but I am glad to see someone noticed that a water pill was not right for me.

I did and they will be back again tomorrow to enjoy the work we all did. My husband was more beat than he ever has been before....I think he is finally feeling his age. I am 2 years older and I was wondering when that would drop for him.
