I just joined today. I am looking through the app to see how this works. Hoping to count macros to lose body fat and gain muscle mass. I am a 49yr old female. Approx 5 to 7 yrs ago I was healthy and participating in Sprint Triathlons. I am embarrassed to say I am now severely overweight (family stress/death of loved ones and parents w/ dementia, Stress from work/healthcare/hospital setting, and I gained a lot of weight during Covid issues and am now struggling w/ hormone changes). I really need a community of support to get on track and do this. I am concerned about time management and keeping track of everything but I so desperately want to be healthy. Are there any FACEBOOK Groups you guys/gals would recommend ? thanks in advance for your time and help with my journey

Hi @jmaldon, You aren't alone. I can read a lot of my story in what you wrote.

I'm one of many here who used MFP successfully, then left and stuff happened. I came back earlier this year.

I believe a FB group, or other groups can really help get the motivation training running. Accountability, support, empathy, encouragement, acceptance....all that stuff can be found here too. This is a perfect webpage, but there is a lot of positive, if you can get over the learning curve and find a sweet spot for yourself.

Step one is (IMHO) consistency. If you come back tomorrow, please click reply, and write something. We can all celebrate the beginning of your great process.

Hi jmaldon. I am also back here after having lost 3 stone and now put most of it back on over a few years, through change in work and uncertainty. I am ready to put the work in again to eat healthy and exercise.

Hi! I've been on MFP since 2011, but I consider myself new here too, just because I haven't done it in so long. I 100% understand where you're coming from and am in a similar boat. In the past, I've found having MFP friends who pay attention to your updates really helps a lot with support and accountability. I'm going try that again, so if you want to be friends, that would be great!
