We ALL have good rounds and bad but that is part of life. Don’t stay away, stay accountable. We don’t judge, we support.-Jpv,2/13/19
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 6 years with amazing results!
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
We are unstoppable not because we do not have failures but because we continue on despite them. - paraphrase of original quote by Beau Taplin
Up and down - just riding the waves of life. 🌊 🏄♀️ (My new mantra-3/19/22)

7/1 127.5 Great way to start the round.
7/2 127.0
7/3 127.0 Supposed to meet high school friend for lunch but I’m sending DH to Urgent Care since he’s still congested and coughing.
7/4 127.5 🇺🇸Happy Birthday USA🇺🇸I wish all of my fellow Americans a wonderful day. Okay with this slight uptick, OMAD was a beef chimichanga with my HS friend and my DH. That certainly would have been a better choice without the tortilla but they are made in house and SOOO good! I wasn’t hungry the rest of the day but should have had a lot more water. Between spending about 4 hours in the car and sitting about 6 hours at the racetrack in temperature over 105. . . I drank a lot of water when we got home after 11PM and went to bed. Community “picnic” this afternoon - hot dogs, hamburgers, sides I don’t eat. I will indulge in an adult beverage and perhaps dessert.
7/5 128.5 Indulge I did. And we ate 3 hours later than I like. I woke with foot cramp and later calf cramp during the night.7 -

7/5 226.8 (+0.4) 18 hr fast. I've been seeing info about IF and it aggravating high cortisol levels so now I'm questioning this protocol a bit. I'm going to wait out a full month/6 weeks and see where I end up before making a decision on it
Yes, @jelleigh, I've read some similar information. I suffer with high cortisol and Adrenal Fatigue from stress. I bought a glucose meter and have been my own test subject on how certain foods affect my blood sugar. Now I'm testing my blood sugar level on different IF times to see what is truly best for me. My BS is sometimes higher than I want it to be 1st thing in the morning. I don't know if that's just because of the dawn phenomenom or I get high numbers because any stressor makes my cortisol shoot up higher. After a couple of hours, my blood glucose drops to a good level and before I eat my first meal it's fine. I do know at 22hrs, my BS will drop anywhere from 84 to 73mg/dl. I usually don't fast more than 24hrs, but for research sake I may do it just to see what happens. I'm probably insulin resistant from so many years of having high cortisol levels.
@quiltingjaine, I began taking a liposomal magnesium supplement a couple of weeks ago and have not experienced any leg or foot cramps. I'll post some information about it later.

My main goal this round is to not comfort eat. I need to find other ways of coping. I will try to exercise the adrenaline away to minimise the damage to my body from stress. I will also use my ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) skills to work through my anxiety.

My weight loss has been unusually consistent the last few days. In an attempt to not go off track at dinner, I have been trialling a larger snack late in the afternoon. It seems to be doing the trick and I am no longer eating more at dinner than planned.
7/4: 158.3 lbs (trend 159.2)

Hi Everyone – Looking forward to another challenge, my 4th.
Female, 5’4”, 57 years of age
HW: 210 (May, 2022)
CW: 149.2
GW: still don’t know… hope I’ll know it when I see it in the mirror… chasing a “healthy” BMI first
Goals: Continue working on same goals from previous round because it seems to have worked!
Cardio: 8/10 days (only days I struggle with this are Sunday and Wednesday due to lack of time)
Bodyweight Train: 3/10 days <- The biggest struggle of mine currently. Really need to do this!
Logging Food: 10/10 days (using a food scale every time!)
SW Round 228: 149.2
7/1: 148.6 - bouncing around that 148* - truly hope it sticks this week. Did my early morning 60-minute Zumba class this morning and just finished meal planning and writing my grocery list for the next several days. I am off from work for the next 4 days... I feel so decadent! Had to buy a couple new sports bras this morning as I am shrinking I've also notice my sandal straps around the ankles are looser... need DH to punch some new holes for me.
7/2: 149.6 - and I continue to bounce. All good here. Was supposed to have the family over for lunch and game day, but oldest DS is sick, so we're going to attempt to do this on Tuesday instead. On the bright side, that means I can do my workout early instead of trying to do it late and being too tired to get it in. Looked in my closet to see what I can fit into... I have a dress that I've had for a couple of years where the material and the cut just hug the body. A few weeks ago, it still did not look all that great on me even though I have already lost around 60 pounds, but this morning, it is almost passable. I'll try it on again in a few weeks... hope springs eternal.
7/3: 148.2 - makes me smile to see that, even if it is fleeting. Going to try to get an extra workout in today since I am home, and I won't have my Zumba class tomorrow. Other than that, pretty quiet for me.
7/4: 147.7 - Oh yeah - very pleasant surprise this morning! Having a cookout with the family today, so don't expect that to stick, but still, nice to see. I am cooking, so I can control the what, but I need to also control the how much. Definitely have both healthy and not so healthy choices... but I fell kind of empowered now to stay on track.
7/5: 148.6 - SO Hard to get up and go back to work today. That 4-day weekend felt good. I made mostly good choices yesterday, but also allowed myself an indulgence or two, nothing out of control. After everyone left, I got a little bit of a workout in. All in all a successful day. Tomorrow is going to be a stressful day, but I have my after work cardio dance class to look forward to, which also means I won't have time to eat the stress away.

Me too; calf cramp wakes me at least once during the night, sometimes numerous times.2 -
@quiltingjaine and @musicsax, My experience with it is wonderful! so far.
~I now experience deeper, more restful, uninterrupted sleep. I have always been a very light sleeper and as I have gotten older, I sleep only about 4 hours nightly.
~No leg or foot cramps and none of those cramps that start in your ankle and creep up your leg.
~A lot less nerve tingling, especially when I take B12 and Alpha lipoic acid with it
~No constipation!
~A lot less stress- I can truthfully say that I did not get the cortisol surge when my husbands blood sugar sent him to the hospital. I feel like I have control over the cortisol, which I don't, the magnesium just allows me to have a much calmer physical reaction.
I have always taken a magnesium supplement but this liposomal magnesium is a game changer for me. The brand I am taking is Juvetirpo. It is a combination of magnesium threonate, citrate and glycinate. 2200mg in 2 softgels. 2200mg seems quite a bit high to me though, so I don't take it every day. I take it every other day and if I forget to take it, its because I am not experiencing any symptoms.

65 yr young F, 5ft 4 Round 228 (my 159th). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round.
Goal this round is yet again the same as last; to get back under and stay under 139. Holiday to Menorca is in 72 days, if I don’t crack on I’ll be needing to purchase a bigger size in holiday clothes and I do not want to do that. So, 72 days, 7 rounds at a pound per round should easily get me to where I want to be, only I can do it, I’ve done it before so I can do it again if I knuckle down otherwise before I know it I be up in the 150’s. Cuz that’s how weight just keeps creeping up on one !!! Really try to stay on track. After all I am what I eat in more ways than one, my whole demeanour is totally different when I am happy with myself!!Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

Happy to say that I was feeling pretty good yesterday and was able to get back into the swing of healthy habits - tracking, staying under calories, lunchtime walk and a cardio workout. Feels good when you're back in a routine and it doesn't take a tonne of effort. I think that is one benefit of coming back here is making it a part of everyday life, not just a one off thing, it really helps keep you in check and get you back into the swing of things so much more quickly. 💙8 -

Round 228
SW: 125
RGW: 123
Plan: Log daily( no lying or cheating!!!). Exercise daily, including beginning weights again and PT exercises, also working on deep squat- goal 10 minutes a day.
Day, Weight, Comment
7/01 #125.2 -Starting up from yesterday, but may have not been truthful counting calories yesterday either- so I need to not lie to myself, this should be added as a goal. Injured myself playing pickleball ( my favorite activity) in May. Going to try playing for a short time this morning, scared and excited. Think I will come home afterwards and do my PT exercises and cardio, once I see how it goes.
7/02 #124.8-Wow, I did not realize that using the food scale is a practice and art easily forgotten. Struggled yesterday, since I cook so much, adding recipes, then dividing, since not sure what the servings were going to be since I was making it up. I am sure it will get easier as I go, notorious taste tester, need to handle that. God looking out for me, only was able to hit pickleball for 5-10 minutes, huge storm rolled in, bummer looks like rain all today. Looks like stationary bike and housework. 4 minutes deep squat yesterday.
7/03 #124.4, I know slowly and surely are best but it sure is nice when you have focused all day on weighing, not snacking and making good food choices to have a little more drop- But I could also fo other way so much more frustrating- So Eeks, I am happy and maybe not filled with joy but a little joy I moving in right direction. Lots of squatting yesterday, over 7 minutes and 4 minutes at one time. Forgot to weigh my fish before i put in airfryer. But better job weighing yesterday. Soon to be ex husband took the elliptical left me with the spin bike. Not able to play Pickleball because of weather so had to bike.
7/04 #125- Eeks, I know it is probably water retention but mentally I struggle going backwards when I put so much effort yesterday. I did actually get to play pickleball since be sidelined since May 7, when I got hurt. I was scared and overthought every shop but actually went very well, AC joint sore in afternoon and last night. Debating going right now, So nice to be outside, socializing and running around, might make me forget I gained weight. Did 10 minutes yesterday of resting squats, not at once but got 4 minutes at one time.
7/05 #124.4 Really seem to be resistant change. Did do a redo of guided set up, now that I have gone back to work definitely not as active, bummer recommends 200 calories less. Sore from pickleball, was only able to play for an hour or so yesterday, but did my weights and PT exercises. 10 minutes of resting squats- did 4 minutes again. Experimented with protein powder cookies - surprisingly good. Going to try to reduce my alcohol.
7/06 #124.2- I am telling myself slow is good, losing weight slowly means I actually losing fat and not just water fluctuations...Putting great effort into weighing my food, created this medley for lunch: TJ cauliflower gnocchi, chicken sausage, asparagus, and colorful tomato medley, fried it up, and then poured in separate bowl to measure, so I can divide into 3 servings. I have been working on my just dirty the dish complex, one more dish to clean is not a big deal- My wonderful mother was the most fabulous cook, but she was messy, dirty so many dishes every night. I was the awful daughter who did the dishes and just complained... She has had several strokes the last year and can no longer talk and only can eat soft foods, my heart breaks for her quality of life. But I am rejoicing in the lessons she taught me, so just dirty the dish and measure! A thank you to God for my mother! - on a different note, did a 5 minute resting squat, 10 minutes total. 1 hour pickleball, physically sore, but mentally sorer- frustrated in 2 months could lose so much of my game, sure it will calm back but with working so hard need to accept will not reach that level of play again.

I don't know why, but walking seems to help the edema in my ankle. Walking around with one compression sock on while wearing shorts is somewhat humbling. Not all "new normals" are fun.
Speaking of normal, here is one I need to change. Does anyone else ever wake up from a "trance" and find yourself standing in front of your open refrigerator without really knowing why or how you got there?
It is not really as dramatic as that, but you get my point maybe.

If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started, I so desperately wanted to be where I am now.
07/03 - 170.2 - Groundhog Day, again - woke up to a day like many others where I have to lose the same pounds again! Fun! I could have sworn this time was it! Readjusted my charts, but I refuse to add color back to 170, LOL, No way! I will at least be done with the 170s again very soon!
07/04 - 169.4 -
07/05 - 169.0 - I feel like I have my head screwed on right this morning finally after going off track. Three good days - except water - got to do better with the water!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

7/1 – 137 lbs - Down -- lbs this round and 2 lbs to goal; /228 miles for July.
7/2 – 136.2 lbs - Down 0.8 lbs this round and 1.2 lbs to goal; 10.76/228 miles for July. Well, my weight is coming down again. Maybe this is what maintenance looks like? I am charting a bunch of things in Excel so I can easily look at any correlations between mood, energy, hunger, weight, calories, menstrual cycle, etc. So far I am finding it helpful to be able to easily compare those numbers. I have noticed that my mood goes a bit low every time I weigh myself and the number has increased, so that is something to keep an eye on. I feel like my hunger has been pretty low in the last several days, and my calories are definitely not excessive (except for the one day we went out for Greek food). I wonder if this is the calorie range and exercise level I’ll have to maintain if I want to maintain this weight. My mood was excellent yesterday! I got to go visit a niece of mine who I rarely see. It was so nice to see her and her partner. Plus I got 10 miles of steps in. Had a nice long walk in the morning with the dog and hubby. I also tried a new recipe for breakfast- some kind of Greek yogurt pancakes with strawberries. It was pretty good. So overall it was just a really lovely day. I wonder if that Cipralex is kicking in. Lol. Hope so.
7/3 - 136.6 lbs - Down 0.4 lbs this round and 1.6 lbs to goal; 16.76/228 miles for July. We went to my MIL for lunch yesterday, which involved a long drive back and forth. I didn’t make my exercise goals and my calories went off the rails – I didn’t track and there was McDonald’s on the way home. The scale is only up a bit today, but I am sure it will be up even higher tomorrow. I will try to stay on the straight and narrow today, but we are having my niece and her fiancé over for dinner, so we shall see what happens (they wanted to order Chinese). This is a different niece from the other day, btw. Lol. We are doing a lot of visiting, as hubby is rarely home this long for socializing. I had all last week off with him, which was amazing. This week I have to work Tues/Weds only, and then I go back on the 10th. Hubby probably will go back on the 17th. It is just great having him home. This Saturday I am hosting a kayaking/picnic for 9 of my family members, to celebrate my 1 year of sobriety (which is officially July 28th). I wanted to celebrate and didn’t want to do something that was sitting around and drinking. (IE, have everyone for dinner, or whatever.) So I came up with renting kayaks. Everyone was on board with that! So I have officially turned myself from a “party girl” to a “sporty girl”! Haha! It sounds silly but it really turned out to be quite an effective mind trick – thinking to myself, “What would a sporty girl do?” I do not miss drinking at all anymore, and I am so glad I don’t still have cravings, etc. It is difficult to feel my stupid feelings, but I guess it is better than being drunk every day. Plus, I am down 56.6 lbs since July 3, 2022, so I think overall it has helped me with my weight loss goals. Certainly I am killing it in the walking department, which I was not doing when I was drinking heavily. So I am proud of how far I have come. 😊 I was saying to hubby the other day that is surprising that I have not thrown in the towel and just started bingeing, this time, like I have always done every other time I have lost 30, 40, 50, 100 lbs. Always, no matter how long I restricted, I ended up going back to bingeing eventually and gained everything back and sometimes more. The difference is that this time I am not so hard on myself when I slip up or eat something that wasn’t on plan or go out for dinner or skip a day of exercise or whatever. I am wayyyy more gentle with myself, and forgiving, and I don’t beat myself up over it, like I would have in the past. Also I am being way more patient with the rate of loss – normally I would get so angry if I wasn’t losing “fast enough”, and eventually I would lose hope and just go back to over-eating (instead of restricting way too hard). So I have learned some self-kindness and some patience, at the old age of 53! Which makes me hopeful that maybe this time I will be able to maintain some kind of healthy weight, whatever that may turn out to be. I have not had hope of maintaining any amount of weight loss in… well, never, actually. So even though I ate too much when we went to McDonald’s last night, I am not too worried about it. I know my weight will bounce up, but I know we are on vacation, it is a long weekend, we were on the road and wanted something quick, and I was too hungry to wait the 2 hours till we got home, so I’m totally fine with it. I mean, I could have skipped the hot fudge sundae, but live and learn. Lol. Anyway, the point is that I feel very confident that no matter if the scale goes up a few pounds, if I just focus, I know it will come back down again in a few days; I don’t have to go into mega-restriction mode and punish myself with an unsustainable amount of exercise, etc. I just have to be chill, and everything will be fine. It’s really a very unusual state of mind, for me!
7/4 – 137.4 lbs - Up 0.4 lbs this round and 2.4 lbs to goal; 21.74/228 miles for July.
7/5 – 138.8 lbs - Up 1.8 lbs this round and 3.8 lbs to goal; 29.05/228 miles for July.
7/6 – 137.4 lbs - Up 0.4 lbs this round and 2.4 lbs to goal; 35.03/228 miles for July. Falling behind on my steps goal for this month. It’s been very hot so I can only really walk the dog in the early morning. (Other than pee breaks, of course.) Energy, concentration and mood have been very low the past few days, which is not unusual as I started my TOM yesterday. I had a super upsetting mtg with my boss yesterday and I felt the urge to drink afterwards (which I have not felt in a long time) and when that passed then I felt the urge to eat/binge. I was able to let both urges pass, thankfully. I started crying near the end of the mtg and had to turn off my mic and type my last few comments in the chat. I was crying too hard to speak. Then I couldn’t stop crying so I decided to log off work for the balance of the day. (I had a bunch of other mtgs scheduled and did not think I could be present and effective for those.) I was able to ask hubby for some time alone and I decided to feel my stupid feelings. I was able to label my feelings (“I feel sad and angry and unsupported”) and also identify where I was feeling that in my body (“I feel that in my stomach and my chest is really tight”). Then I reminded myself that feelings are temporary and will pass. And I remembered that if I could not calm down, I had an ice pack in the freezer to put on my eyes, if necessary, which was good to remember but I ended up not needing it. I’m glad I was able to remember some coping strategies even though I was very upset. Today I am thinking “I am just having a rough patch with my career. This is very common and happens to a lot of people. All I can do is make a plan to move forward. This will pass and things will get better.” It is unusual for me to not be thinking “I am a failure and I am stupid and I can’t do anything right and why bother and I should just quit” etc. although I did feel the “I should just quit” feeling right after the upsetting meeting. When I did think that, I was able to remind myself to not make any decisions when I am feeling so upset and think about it again later. I had previously booked today and tomorrow off to prepare for my kayak/picnic day on Saturday, so I have until Monday to calm down about it and hopefully return with a better attitude on Monday.

7/06 - 153.8 - Not as bad as I expected. I still feel puffy and bloated since it is not unusual for it to take 48 hours for my body to release water after I've re-hydrated. Over 100 ounces yesterday, whoot! Calories were on the high side, though, so that isn't helping. Ended up taking the dogs for a walk after dinner. I did 2 of the 3 rounds of my kettlebell workout as I forgot to do the last round after my walk. Ran a little over a mile today with both dogs. It's such a pain but they start to whine and bark which wakes everyone up if I go without them. Unsure today as it's Thirsty Thursday but we aren't going to our normal bar&grill as it's gone downhill horribly. I have plenty of my chickpea and veggie curry so I'll eat that regardless of plans for the day so I get my veggies in and fill myself up on something healthy. Simply hoping I can stay on track and see this bloat drop off in the next day or two.

Previous Day's Comments7/01 - Sodium blip. BF wanted out of the house (don't blame him) so we went and got Japanese at a new place. This one was definitely more mom-and-pop shop, homemade versus the other place which has more of a chain restaurant vibe. I did really well with pushing my plate to be taken away after piling my trash on it once I was full, a HUGE NSV. I'd normally feel obligated to pick at it while others ate and try to finish it to get my "money's worth". I didn't leave hungry, my taste buds were satisfied (even happy as I was craving sesame chicken), and I didn't feel sick from overeating. That was my money's worth despite there being more food on the plate. Not sure plan today other than SD has a "volunteer" job (they get paid but it's just to help increase staffing for a one-day event) from 1-9. Then that place puts on fireworks from 9-9:30 so we're hanging out at the fire station (upon request) in case of need (so dry with these record temperatures). LittleBro will come with us and SD will meet us there (it's maaaaaybe 1/4mile walk from the place she's working) to watch the fireworks together. Once I post and catch up reading, I'll stretch my poor sore hamstrings out while I read as everyone is still asleep.
7/02 - Scale blipped down to 151 range before settling higher. I do feel a tad puffy from the garlic salt at dinner, but not as bad as before. I'm also still very sore in the hamstrings despite setting aside time to stretch yesterday. I will do so again today. We had a freak storm form over us last night bringing much needed rain. My intended morning walk with the pups was also canceled due to continuing rain this morning. Oh well. Tomorrow is a scheduled walk, weather-permitting, and my kettlebell workout. Likely another lazy day today, especially with all the rain. If so, I'll keep reading like I did yesterday. It's nice to read my own books during the day and then my Book Club book (for that month) before bed.
7/03 - There we go. I'm still holding on to water weight - we went mini-golfing and to TopGolf. First mini-golf was outside and no food/drinks on the course (which at 100 degrees in the sun is not at all smart...but that's just me). Had lunch and then a round of indoor mini-golf (a bottle of water cost $7 so.... yeah, didn't happen). Finally we went to TopGolf which I drink 2 large glasses of water. I didn't want to make myself sick, though. Also, though all this, I managed to be 1,300 steps shy of 10k. How?! So much walking. Ended up skipping dinner as lunch was at 2pm and very heavy. None of us were hungry by dinnertime. Today I took the dogs for a walk and completed my NF Journey kettlebell workout. Tomorrow is a day off, but I'm supposed to run. I'll see how I feel, soreness-wise and sleepy-wise, in the morning. Making veggie chickpea curry for lunches this week for myself. SD said she'd try it, too.
7/04 - Happy 4th to all my fellow American friends! Little fluctuation, not worried about it at all. I did enjoy a small bowl of ice cream and took my lactose pills immediately after. It satisfied the craving and fit into my calorie goal perfectly so the slight bloat isn't a concern. Today I slept in until 630 and still managed a run. It wasn't a long one, but I only said "a run" not a time or distance so I've managed to check the box. I'm trying not to put a hard and fast rule to it otherwise I'll lose all desire to even continue running until I have no choice but to train for the other 5k I've signed up for in November. Anyway, I'm hoping everyone wakes up in time for me to run through the shower quickly before we have to leave for the parade and other events going on today. It's a very social day and I'm not sure I'm ready for it mentally. Oh well. I feel stronger about my food and movement choices now that I've done my run so hopefully that mental strength will also bleed through into my people-ing ability. I have a general plan today (I vaguely know the lunch offerings and the event this evening is likely to be the same ol' American-fare for the holiday so not terribly hard to guess) and hopefully plenty of opportunity to get my steps in.
7/05 - I woke up and chugged water a couple different times through the night so I decided to forego weighing. I feel like it'd be a false high from all that water. I'll see the damage done from yesterday tomorrow anyway. I did do pretty good overall, especially in the food department, but there was beer involved. I don't even like drinking beer when it is that hot, but we all ended up buying each other a round which added up through the day. I got all my steps and such in, though, and met my calorie goal despite all the liquid calories. By the time fireworks happened and we got home, it was 2 hours past my bedtime so I decided to put off my workouts. I'll try to take the dogs for a walk after dinner tonight to make up for it. It's supposed to storm between 5-6 so maybe it'll cool things down and I can walk them around 7? We shall see. I have 3 rounds in my kettlebell workout circuit with 3 exercises each so I'll divide those up through the day. I'll knock the first one out after I post. Likely one around lunch and one in the afternoon (after lunch slump?). Just because I slept in doesn't give me a free pass to miss out on my workout. Not when it is typically done next to my work desk anyway haha!

I was out most of the day today. My knee was horribly painful (tore my meniscus last month 😥) you do not realize how important your knees are until they are damaged. Pup will get a break from a walk today - besides, it's 35 degrees out there. #idonotfeelguilty
July 4: 223.8
A gain today. Likely because I had popcorn last night. This is why I have difficulty weighing in every day. I go up and down and i get frustrated.
Will persevere and keep focused.
July 5: 223.4
Out and about today.
Got an afternoon swim in the river too! It was like a bathtub it was so warm.
Worked the knee, but man..it is so sore.
Must keep working on the physio.

7/4 - 191.6 - overall good day. Didn’t track food or water I really need to get this on lock. Rest day from strength training, muscles are sore from the other day. 9,443 steps (53,273 left), 3 floors ( 62 left), 31 Zone minutes (324 left). I listened to 2 episodes of the coaches cup podcast. Took Farley for a walk last evening, we didn’t go as far the other day but we got out and he had fun
7/5 - 190.4 - average day, it got a little hot in the afternoon and the smoke was really bad again from the fires. I finished tracking my food this morning. I was over for my calorie count. My water was little low, still need to work on that. 8,752 steps (44,521 left), 4 floors (58 left), 81 Zone Minutes (243 left). Farley and I didn't get out for our walk due to the air quality. I did a new strength training workout. Found it on YouTube Senior Fitness Seated Dumbbell Workout For Beginners | 20 Min, it is part of a workout series Senior Fitness with Meredith. I think that I am going to continue to use this one.

Happy 🍁 Canada 🇨🇦 Day to the Canadians on here. Although I was born in the States, I am proud to be Canadian by parentage, and all my sibs were born in Alberta. I can’t believe it’s July already. The year’s half gone! July is “eye month” for me, with cataract surgeries this Monday & the next one, and then a string of follow up appointments. Not my idea of summer fun, but everyone assures me I’ll be glad I did it. I’m trying not to think much about it! Nervous. But I don’t seem to be channeling that into food, so there’s that. Now to keep it that way!
7/02 - 183.2
Yep. I ate a lot yesterday, including two pieces of cake. Yikes! I some of this is obviously water — can’t gain half a pound of fat in one day. I feel like that got the urge out of my system and today will be more controlled, although I’m quite nervous about tomorrow. Anyway, it’s love out right now, and our air quality is, for now, back to good. Have a happy Sunday!
7/03 - 183.2
Monday, Monday…. First cataract surgery coming up this morning. I’m very nervous, but keep telling myself it will be over in 3 hours, other than waiting around for a post-surgery check up. Then I get to do it all again in a week. I know it’s pretty routine, and everyone tells me it’s a snap, but still…. Anyway, my calories should be lower today!
7/04 - 183.6
Happy Fourth! My cataract surgery went well. My vision in that eye is like looking through thick gauze because of the meds they put in, but no other pain or discomfort. On our way home mid-afternoon DH wanted a Whopper & fries, so I got the same — was pretty hungry by then — which was my first such food in years! Then I had ice cream late evening. Not great, but my calories weren’t much over my goal, so other than a lot of salt I think it was ok. Back on track today. I don’t think I’ll be doing much until my vision clears, but it seems to be getting better every hour. Many thanks to those you sent well wishes!
7/05 - 185.2
Yep, there’s my Whopper and fries from Monday, plus some salty junk food yesterday — chili cheese Fritos, Parmesan garlic pita chips, like that, plus barbecue ribs and potato salad. Recovery foods. 😁 Back on track today, menu all planned, including lots of water. My vision is clearing, but I still have blurry spots from the medication they put in my eye. Hopefully it will clear more today. Neighbors were shooting off LOUD fireworks (no sparklies, just noise — I don’t get it) until well after midnight, so I might need a nap. 😌 I hope all my American friends here had an enjoyable 4th.
7/06 - 183.8
That’s a bit better. I knew yesterday I was full of water! My vision has mostly cleared, and although my glasses are not correcting optimally (which was expected), they’re not bad. Of course, I get to do this all again next week. 🤪 But I’m feeling strangely energized, and am going to make myself some schedules and set some goals beginning in August — I want to get back to serious writing, get Booker’s advanced trick titles by December, get him ready for his first obedience and scent work titles this fall, and get back to painting regularly. And walking! I guess I hadn’t realized how much having these surgeries hanging over me was weighing me down. I am confident that getting back to the activities that buoy my spirits, and to my real work (writing) will help me get seriously back on track weight wise. Oh, and when registration opens I’m signing up for an online fitness class aimed at getting dog-sport competitors in shape. It sounds great and gets rave reviews, so there’s that! Now to clean my office and rearrange so I can do things when I’m ready! Sorry a lot of this doesn’t sound weight/health related, but it is!
