    Hi, I'm Charissa - Round 230

@deepwoodslady ~ so which Barbie are you today with pick nails!!🙂

@itladyee The Malibu Barbie of course (even tho I'm from the midwest.) I actually played with her in the earlier 70's and wanted to be her lol.

BTW, I posted my nails and then heard that the movie raked in over $155 Million and is the highest profit movie by a female director in history already. All that info right after I posted my nails! Coincidence? I think not! (LOL). Have a great happy smiling and wonderful day!

This is not for debate and not my opinion. This was an article in my email this morning. I thought it was interesting and wanted to share.

    SHOULD WE CURB CARBS?

@itladyee, OH! {{{hugs}}} to you. I was giving kudos to Donna, @deepwoodslady (sidetrack: BTW ❤️ your 🥿Barbie nails) for HER breakthrough.

@SheilaBoneham, I do agree with @fmfdfa2020 about trying calorie cycling. Your body gets used to the same amount of calories everyday, so you have to shake it up. That is sort of what I have been doing, but it's not a plan. It's a mixture of calorie cycling, (definitely not planned, because it depends on my hunger), carb cycling (naturally lowering the calories) and IF.

@tiabirdie56 This past week I have been doing the zigzag diet to break my weight pattern and get a breakthrough to a new number. I think it is similar to calorie cycling. I've also zig zagged my carbs too. I looked it up on the internet a few weeks ago and saw how it's done. Basically you still eat the same amount of calories (and carbs if you're counting) in a week, but they are zigzagged higher and lower to trick your metabolism and get it moving. It's mainly designed to break plateau's. My normal calories I am trying to adhere to is 1400, so I have 3 days of 1400, One day of 1275, One day of 1520, One day of 1600 and one day of 1050. My carbs zig zag too and run between 64 and 75. My normal 1400 cal day is with 70 carbs. The beautiful thing is that it doesn't matter what order you eat them in. If you have a day when you are eating out at a restaurant, or a special occasion or a food you are craving (or making the family) you can choose that to be your higher day, even if the day before was also a higher day. It has done well for me so far this week. The calorie/carb swings do not appear to be making me gain a lot of weight on the higher days. The jury is still out, but I'm happy so far. I am not sure yet if this is something I should do all the time, or keep for a secret weapon when I begin stalling. It was designed to break a plateau. The main take is that you don't take in a zillion calories on the high days and cause a weight gain that could take weeks to lose. Let me know if you (or anyone) researches it and finds out anything else interesting on it.

@deepwoodslady ~ I zigzag my calories as well averaging 1400. Very similar to you - I start with Sunday at 1200. Monday and Tuesday at 1400, Wednesday and Thursday at 1000, Friday 1400 (but usually at 1000) and Saturday 1700. This keeps me sane and within budget for the entire week and I can have a little fun on the weekend! I've never tried zigzag for carbs...
@tiabirdie56 ~ I have to curb carbs or there will be no weight loss. Maintain maybe but no loss. I don't cut them entirely out, but try to stay on the low end. I may look into trying to zigzag to see if that works for me

@tiabirdie56 Thanks. I do calorie cycle, mostly because I’m not being consistent for more than 3 days, but when I was, I always put in a higher calorie day every 7-10 days.

07/20 …..196.6….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND

    07/21 -194.4- (Trend weight 197.0)

    07/22 -195.6- (Trend weight 197.0)

    07/23 -195.2- (Trend weight 196.8)

    07/24 -193.8- (Trend weight 196.5)

07/25 -194.0- (Trend weight 196.2) I Typed my weight in black because I knew it was a perfect on-point day with both diet and exercise so this is just an overnight fluctuation. I am happy with my progress so far this round, including my trend weight. Not traveling has helped. I may have to go out of town on Thursday, however. I need to do some grocery shopping and it is supposed to be 93 degrees that day. With no air conditioning here, I would look forward to the air in the car and in the stores. Trying to be strategic.

07/26 -193.8- (Trend weight 196.0) I drank 100 oz of water yesterday which wasn’t as hard to do as I thought. I just set time limits for myself. 24 by noon. 24 by 4:00-4:30, 24 by 9:00 and 24 by 1:00 am (I stay of late). I keep a little to sip at night by the bed too. Thinking of it in smaller increments helped. Also, I walked down the driveway to the mailbox and just kept walking without having planned it. I had on my squirrel shoes (the one’s I jump into to go out and feed the squirrels and birds), not my walking shoes but I walked for about 12 minutes up and down the hills of my neighborhood. A short walk but better than nothing. I think I can do that more often but not today as there are severe thunderstorms coming any minute. Sad to see my weight still isn’t moving. I stuck to my diet plan and snacking plan. I’m really looking forward to the 180’s because I know how much my glucose improves and how much better I feel.

@jafso_1 I don’t know how to merge your workout reports but think it would be a setting in one of the apps or perhaps on Apple health if you have an Apple device. I’m 73 and don’t do tech. LOL I have a Garmin Vivofit 3 and Polar chest strap and only use MFP for this message board. Some of these share to MFP but the food tracking app I use (Senza) doesn’t.

Hi Everyone – Looking forward to my 6th challenge.
Female, 5’4”, 57 years of age
    HW: 210 (May, 2022)
    CW: 147.4
GW: still don’t know… it will be a journey… first stop, “healthy BMI,” second stop, “look good in mirror.” I sincerely hope I get there.

Goals: Continue working on same goals from previous rounds
Cardio: 8/10 days (only days I struggle with this are Sunday and Wednesday due to lack of time)
Bodyweight Train: 3/10 days <- The biggest struggle of mine currently. Really need to do this!
Logging Food: 10/10 days (using a food scale every time!)
I will be away for the end of this challenge at a family wedding… which doesn’t bode well for me at the end. I also will not be weighing in for those last few days. I am very anxious about being able to stay on track… with obvious indulgences because it’s a wedding… there will be cake… and champagne… 2 things I thoroughly enjoy. Also, no structured work out schedule. It took me from 2/27/23 until 6/15/23 to get out of the 150’s and I really don’t want to have to do that again.

    SW RND 230 – 147.4
    7/21: 147.5
7/22: 147.2 - Early morning Zumba put a smile on my face today! Youngest DS birthday lunch tomorrow (he turned 25 yesterday), and I just baked a cake. Ugh - it smells really good. Might have a little slice tomorrow, we'll see. Gonna make a beef tenderloin and roasted potatoes (I'll have a sweet potato). I feel good, strong, ready to take on the temptation.
7/23: 147.5 Lots of work to do to get ready for lunch today. I haven't had beef in so long.... probably 2 months, I hope I don't overcook it. My middle DS, who is 28, has CP and what that means for him is he is physically totally dependent on help (quadriplegic) and cognitively he is scattered anywhere from a 5 year old to about 12 year old with thoughts, ideas, speech, etc. He was up around 2 am to let us know that he was keeping an eye on the cake overnight so that nobody would steal it! I'll be drinking lots of coffee today - LOL!
7/24: 147.6 - Back at work, feeling frenetic trying to get things accomplished before Thursday, let alone thinking about what I need to pack, etc.
    7/25: 147.5
7/26: 147.7 - Had Zumba last night after work and twisted my ankle... but it's not terrible, just reminding me that I did it. Not swollen, just tender. Oy... I suppose I need to slow down. :) Thanks @itladyee for the well wishes. Also agree with you regarding the change in tastes... I did have a small slice of my DS birthday cake on Sunday, and I did not care for it... kind of makes me happy a little bit that there's no big temptation in it anymore. I plan to be mindful while I am away, and write down what I eat, if not the weight, etc of it all. Have a great couple of weeks and I'll "see" you when I am back!
    7/27 - Vacation
    7/28 - Vacation
    7/29 - Vacation
    7/30 - Vacation
