08/16-196.6-(Trend Weight 195.6)- Today is youngest daughters moving day. She’s picking up some furniture from here, amid the hectic-ness of the handymen being here too. She is moving to an apartment just down the street from me which will make babysitting/transporting much easier. Going out-of-town to shop for the rest of Granddaughters 3rd birthday which is on Sunday so no handyman tomorrow.

I need to seriously rethink it all, especially when life gets busy. What can be sustainable, help my diabetes but keep me from bingeing? I dunno. Lots to consider! Was super busy until very late again last night. When it’s that late, meals are in the middle of the night and I’m too tired for exercise. I’ve got a lot to figure out! But I’m so happy to be getting some remodeling projects started with my new handymen.

June Loss - 6.4 Pounds
July Loss - 1.0 Pound
July Ending Weight - 187.4
Aug 1 - 186.2
Aug 2 - 186.6
Aug 3 - 185 The bloat is ending! 😁
Aug 4 - 184.2 😁 Woo Hoo! I'm back to my low.
Aug 5 - 183.4 😁
Aug 6 - 183.2 😁 I probably shouldn't say anything to jinx it, but I have been working really hard so it's nice to see that it has paid off!
Aug 7 - 183.4
Aug 8 - 185 My own doing. My sister brought cake to Bingo with Mom night for my birthday (yup turned 63 today) and I ate more than I should. Also rained yesterday and didn't get my steps in. All around not a good day. Today my daughter is taking me out for lunch, but am going to try to stay in check the rest of the day. Hoping for a quick turn around.
Aug 9 - 184 😁 Had a really nice day. Started the day with my usual walk "after" the rain. Half way through it poured, was kind of refreshing and made us laugh. My daughter took us out for a nice lunch, and then just a quiet day at home the rest of the day. Tonight is Trivia night. We haven't been in a long time, so really looking forward to it.
Aug 10 - 184.2 4th Place in Trivia; waitress must have known that I was on a diet - never brought our dinners - just the salad! But - she brought me two beers I didn't order - yes I drank them. HA!
Aug 11 - 184.2
Aug 12 - 183.8
Aug 13 - 184.8 (Corrected)
Aug 14 - 184.2 I have been out of my normal routine too long - never really got back into the full swing since coming home from Nashville. Starting fresh today! The timing was terrible in that the two competition challenges that I was in ended at the same time - nothing to keep me structured and accountable, so I would be on track one day and then off the next. I need someone to tell me what I need to do and then I will do it. Kind of like handing in my homework at school - I need to check the boxes! The competition challenges do that for me. LOL. One starts up again today the other the following week; so excited to get started again - hopefully will get to the 170s soon.
Aug 15 - 182.8 😁See what little accountability does for me.
Aug 16 - 182.6 😁
Aug 17 - 182.8
Aug 18 - 182.6 Packing up today - we rented a house on Lake Bomoseen in Vermont. Taking the boat (and Monty of course), leave tomorrow morning. There a lot of nice trails we are going to try, so should get in a lot of steps. With Monty with us, won't be going out to dinner, don't know if I'll be under my calorie limit - but at least I be able to log everything and control the salt. I'm bringing my laptop, so will be checking in every day, but won't be weighing in.
Aug 19 - 183 The good thing is that they have a scale, the bad thing is they have a scale. This is my view for the next week.

Well hello August! Summer seems to be flying by!
I am Amanda, I am from Michigan. I lost 50 pounds last year but have been stuck at pretty much the same weight for about 7 months. This month I would like to put a dent in that number! Hooray for willpower!

I’m very likely not going to make my goal of 195 by the end of the month but I definitely put in effort this month, much more than the last 2 months. That’s something, right?2 -
@deepwoodslady Can you take 2-3 hours per week and do meal prep? Chopping things for sheet pan dinners, cooking a bunch of a protein (meat) and pair it with frozen veggies? I know it takes time but it’s so convenient later on in the week when you are hungry and in a rush. Just a suggestion
@ddainiak I would scoot that scale right out of sight if I were you but please do what makes your vacation the best. Enjoy! That’s a gorgeous view!2 -
Hi! I’m a grandma of 8 from Canada. I live near my kids and help out babysitting a fair bit. I was never overweight when I was young, but have probably been obese off an on for the past 20 years. Something changed in my mental outlook about 5 months ago when my doctor told me I was now diabetic. She had previously warned me, but I just didn’t pay attention. I listened this time and am taking it seriously. I’m determined to get healthy.
My goal is to be able to stop taking several prescribed drugs, and lower blood sugar levels. I believe it will take me over a year to do this, but I’m going to do it. I was always healthy before I got fat. I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I’ve already lost close to 37 lbs. in the last 5.5 months, decreased my bp medication, and my blood sugar level has decreased significantly.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, and I’m counting calories most days. I’ve started swimming more, and I’m doing very gentle aerobics.
Recently, I even travelled for the first time in years.
Starting weight: 230
Goal weight: 130 (maybe less)
Height: 5’2”
Monthly Weight Loss:
March-10 lbs.

Aug. 16- 193.8 lbs. starting this challenge 1/2 way through. I’d love to get into the 180’s by the end of this month. Don’t know what to expect. DH has a knee replacement surgery in a week. I’m his caregiver.
Aug. 17-193.8 swam for an hour. Haven’t been swimming as the pool has been closed for 2weeks. We had a horrific incident and a man drowned. I feel a bit strange because of it. It’s terribly sad.
Aug. 18-DW gentle aerobics class
Aug. 19-194.4 ate some junk food last night, lots of salt, swam for 55 min.
Aug. 20-192.4 woo hoo ! I hope it stays. This is a huge loss for me.

Donna, I feel much the same about my weight loss goals as you do. I need to reconsider them. I think sometimes I’m restricting myself too much, then I overeat for a short time, then I get back on track for the next few days. I do my best with calorie counting, but I stopped measuring and weighing food a long time ago, and I think I’m actually overestimating calories sometimes. I want to err on the side of caution. I also have diabetes and don’t want to feel like I want to binge. I will never give up though, and I am losing weight slowly. It would be faster if I could be more consistent.
Darlene, I love your picture. Vermont is a beautiful place.
@joans1976 don’t be discouraged if you don’t reach your goal. What’s important is that you’re going in the right direction. Yay!4 -

I started with this group in July. I am Mary, 69 years old, 5’5”, CW 170 lbs, HW 185, GW 150, or maybe UGW 140. I want to lose weight to bring my blood pressure down and to improve my cardiovascular health. I saw the notes from the orthopedic doctor on my medical record which said my BMI is a contributing factor to my mobility pain. I also feel all the usual feelings about my appearance at a higher weight not being as attractive, wanting to feel more energy, move more gracefully.
Late August and my weight loss is super slow to the point of non-existent! I look at August 4: 170.6 and today: 170.2. I log my food diary and exercise to MFP daily. Eating 4-5 servings of vegetables and fruits, and drinking more fluids. It’s good to have the log and that’s a way to note what is going on (not much). Inspiration comes more from seeing others’ progress over time. I do see I lost a bit when I had several days’ higher step count. New goal: 10K / day.

Thank you all for your support and kind words. It's been a tough weekend. I'm glad we still have Woody to love on but he has been looking around for Brutus... that has been sad to watch. I will try and be back to a normal routine tomorrow.4 -
@Buckeyebabe7l7 Funny - I had a dog named Woody - a feisty dalmatian.
@deepwoodslady Just a suggestion, but how about having a weekly calorie goal instead of a daily one - and then weigh weekly instead of daily.
@joans1976 I think you are right - I shouldn't look at the scale until I get home (it will never happen!)
@Melwillbehealthy Fantastic results.
I got almost 23K steps today! Monty and me on the boat today. I've come a long way - would never share pictures of me in the past!

08/19-198.0-(Trend Weight [b196.3[/b]x)- I’m In a very confused state about my diet and mfp goals. Too much restriction just seems to be causing me to throw in the towel every few days.
08/20-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- Went to the County Fair yesterday with oldest daughter and my 3 DGS’s. It’s not my county (we don’t have a fair with rides etc). It was one county over but a HUGE fair for a town bigger than mine but that would still be considered small by most. Ate from the food trucks which is never a good thing for plan.

@Buckeyebabe7l7 Funny - I had a dog named Woody - a feisty dalmatian.
I got almost 23K steps today! Monty and me on the boat today. I've come a long way - would never share pictures of me in the past!
Congrats on getting so many steps in on vacation! That's really great. I remember you told me about your Woody before...my Woody is a Labradoodle and a sweet boy. Your Monty really does look a lot like Brutus. Give him a big hug for me.

Well hello August! Summer seems to be flying by!
I am Amanda, I am from Michigan. I lost 50 pounds last year but have been stuck at pretty much the same weight for about 7 months. This month I would like to put a dent in that number! Hooray for willpower!

Hi! I’m a grandma of 8 from Canada. I live near my kids and help out babysitting a fair bit. I was never overweight when I was young, but have probably been obese off an on for the past 20 years. Something changed in my mental outlook about 6 months ago when my doctor told me I was now diabetic.
I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I’ve already lost close to 37 lbs. in the last 6 months, decreased my bp medication, and my blood sugar level has decreased significantly.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, and I’m counting calories most days. I’ve started swimming more, and I’m doing very gentle aerobics.
Recently, I even travelled for the first time in years.

I am a 5'4", 46 year-old married female with four kids. There is a lot totally out of my control right now, but I am trying to find ways to manage what I can control...and get ready for the start of a new school year for my kids. I am so grateful for this wonderfully supportive group!

8/21 - 184.9 - I had issues with allergic reactions 2 years ago, but allergy testing could not find the culprit, and I've been fine for 2 years. A few days ago, I started having an allergic reaction. To what, I am not sure, but Benedryl did the trick. Yesterday, I was apparently playing a game of hide and seek with some hornets while gardening. I found them. Stings/bites to my right ankle, right hand, and one decided to chase me and bit my face. I was in pain and had some swelling, but able to be a trooper nevertheless. I pushed through my part-time job, but at 11pm I started having an allergic reaction and ended up in the ER. Not sure if it was due to the stings or something I ate. .and here we go again. Lol! I am a walking medical mystery and wonder all at the same time.1 -
Sending hugs to everyone around - to those who have been feeling a little discouraged and to those with some encouraging suggestions!2

Hi
I’m Melanie getting on track haven’t logged food in a loooong time and managed my weight pretty easily. Out of whack hormones plus a new berry stressful job has me 20 lbs higher than what feels good for me.
The hormonal stuff is making it tough but without really trying to build awareness of what I’m eating I can’t continue to blame that.
So here I am:
August 21: 192.6

Well hello August! Summer seems to be flying by!
I am Amanda, I am from Michigan. I lost 50 pounds last year but have been stuck at pretty much the same weight for about 7 months. This month I would like to put a dent in that number! Hooray for willpower!

Sooooo it looks as though I’m eating for a maintenance goal. My calorie goal is set pretty low and if I set it any lower, I will be miserable and binge. It’s time for exercising more. Hard to do sitting at a desk 40-45 hours per week but others can do it, why can’t I? If only there was a magic pill…2
