But when I tried my rice that way there was a lot of crackle and pop but NO SNAP?

That's problematic. The snap is how you know it's working.

Oh I forgot to mention to start adding Alli to your intake.

So, as recommended I've been doing my IF filter feeding (with the addition of rice) for a couple weeks now. I was doing a 16/8 schedule, but I switched to a 12/12 schedule because I stopped losing weight and figured I went into starvation mode and need to eat more. Now I'm gaining weight and can't figure out why! Suggestions?

I had some cognitive dissonance when I saw who posted this and the first sentence, but as soon as I saw "starvation mode" I figured it out and then kicked myself for not seeing it earlier

Same here. My first thought was someone had hacked sollyn's account.

I would think after the filter your diet would be clean, so you must be losing weight. Maybe change the batteries in your scale?

That will definitely enhance the fast, i.e., calories out, fast!

Patience. It'll all work out in the end as the days are getting shorter and your calories in will naturally reduce on it's own. Keep in mind that sugar is poison so keep your filters maintained. You might want to try wild rice if you think you need all those carbs. For sure go with the ACV! That will help with gas and bloating from the rice. Those around you will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Should I weigh my pizza or can I just guesstimate on my less than a baker's dozen cheat days a month?

We'd need more details to advise you on that. What's your height, current weight, goal weight, zip code, credit card number, personal tax ID number?

And is that a gluten free crust? If so, cauliflower, almond flour, or chickpea? Chickpea is bad, because lectins. Flour of any kind is not allowed (crosses a bright line), even if it's just nuts. Cauliflower crust is ultra-processed, so your appetite will spike and force you to eat whole airplane hangars full of Twinkies.

That is insightful as always Anne. I'm going to have to take a minute to unpack it. Maybe there IS a correlation between my Twinkie cravings and the cauliflower rice I've been eating during the fast breaks on TV :grimace:

Edit: Ok so I've read further. I was totally bamboozled as it seemed to be from such a normally sensible poster! I've never heard of filter feeding and though "what insane fad is this???" "How Is Solly getting involved in it???"

Please tell me filter feeding isn't a real thing that people do? I thought I had heard it all.

Sadly, it is actually a thing some people have tried to do. It seems like it's mostly yogi's who claim their abilities allow them to not have to eat and survive off the sun. There's a couple documentaries on it on youtube.

But I've added rice, so I should be totally safe.

@sollyn23l2 I admit that I cheated and added konjac rice to the sticky rice + red rice IF filter feeding combo.

But now my weight is up three days in a row which I don't understand even though my scale is on the carpet by the front door and, as usual, I haven't gone to the bathroom these past 3 or 4 days. Not sure if that was before or after the multipack of konjac rice I ate in a single go, but it's normal for me, so I don't see how I could affect my weight.

So I must be gaining weight because my filter got clogged and I'm no longer IF filter feeding correctly.

I got my starter pack at the filter feed convention and I'm trying to buy a replacement but I must have written the number wrong because it says it's out of service.

I'm getting desperate here. Any TikTok or YouTube where it can get some extra filters?

I read on Dr. Rich Gitter's insightful blog that a salt-water pool filter will work in a pinch, but you have to pinch it really hard. Scientific studies prove it, he has the footnote numbers right in the text that tell you it must be true, besides, he's a doctor and other doctors hate him, so it must be true. There's only a small membership fee for his site, but it's totally worth it.

Most people don't have the upper body strength to pinch hard enough, though, unless they've been doing weighted HIIT every day for a couple of hours for at least 3 weeks, after which anything is possible. (You may be OK because of your golden-arches pull-ups?)

Fortunately, I think Dr. Gitter has some of the best filters still available on his site, or maybe you could check on Mel Teelevel's marketing feed. They take PayPal as long as you sign up for infinite automatic renewal ordering.

@AnnPT77 I appreciate that you're trying to help here, and you're normally one of the more helpful people around and all that jazz, but what's with BLOGs and WEB SITEs???

I specifically asked for TikTok or YouTube because when you make that visual connection it is obviously superior and more trustworthy than web blatherings.

Words can be manipulated to say ANYTHING one wants. But when you see a genuine TikTok influencer you have that genuine connection no one can manipulate!

I'm watching you Ann! Don't become one of the MFP mean people who fail to answer the question they're asked the way they're expected to and go off into logic tangents and all that jazz instead!

Your epic fail was ALMOST rescued through the grace of correctly pointing out the supreme convenience of perpetual PayPal agreements you never asked for but which PayPal conveniently signed you up for whether you wanted them to or not! At least there you KNOW that they obviously only had your best interests in mind! And the wider the blanket charging authority given to the random merchant to charge your credit card per their convenience the better off you will be!

You must never mix konjac rice with red rice. You can pick one or the other, but never both. They fight in your digestive system and cause the very digestive issues you are describing. I recommend any tiktokkers that discuss food combining. You must always listen to tiktoc. Never youtube. Youtubers will try to confuse you with their "studies" and "facts". All poppycock.

I think some nutrient balancing is in order.

    Iron: first, iron your carpet.

Get your level out of the tool box, carefully leveling your scale in both directions, cutting or shaving carpet as necessary til a perfect balance achieved.

You are weighing yourself standing on one leg, right? You know you’re lighter that way, right?
