]65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 233 (my 163rd). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, so grateful.
Goal this round again is to get back under and stay under 138, I really don’t want to keep hovering around 140 pounds. Holiday is now in 21 days,3 weeks! I still need to crack on & lose a few more pounds, starting to get back into some holiday clothes, but can't let up: time is running out! So, 21 days, 2 rounds at a pound per week should get me better than I am, I’ve done it before so I can do it again if I knuckle down!! Really try to stay on track & do another complete round without binging. After all I am what I eat in more ways than one, my whole demeanour is totally different when I am happy with myself!!Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

8/22 138.6 – love the woosh! 7.34 miles walked; no exercise calories eaten back.
8/23 138.6 – 9.07 miles walked; less than 50% exercise calories eaten back.

8/25 138.6 - no structured walking as childminding little DGSs; 2.9 miles walked, hence calories over.
8/26. DNW - 7.35 miles walked. Towed our caravan down to Oxfordshire, pitched right next to the River Thames for the bank holiday weekend. Didn't bring the scales. Less than half exercise calories eaten back. Tried to include a photo of weekend view but couldn't manage it on my phone!
8/27 DNW - 8.29 miles walked, ⅔ exercise calories eaten back.
8/28. DNW - 9.65 miles, downstream on the river, across the field to a couple of villages back to the River and along the Thames Path. 70th birthday celebrations in the evening, chose sensibly, but 300 calories over.

I am Ana, 39 years old. 5'5" reaching out from Greece...Back for my third round !
Last two years I gained approximately 40 pounds (20kgr)..
Tried drastic measures to get back to track, but to no avail... So I am now taking it one day at a time, with baby steps and learning to set realistic goals! Trying to make it a lifestyle choice, rather than a punishment !!

8/22: 171.9 lbs (78 kgr) Trying to cut back on the carbs overall and not just be, below my calories.. Last night I managed to finish 30 minutes treadmill 12-3-30 plus 45min of pilates... Not bad...
8/23: 172.4 (78.2) For the life of me I have no clue where those 200 grams came from.. My last meal of the day was at 15:00, packed full of protein, with less than 20% carbs. 45 minutes on the treadmill 12-3-45 ...Hmmm .. A tad frustrating but I will keep on expecting the drop... The thing that worries me is that for the next three nights we have some social outings that food is the star of the night… Hm….
8/24: 172.4 (78.2) The fact that last night, tonight and tomorrow we will be dinning out, does not help with the morning weigh-in. But I am happy and proud that even though I ate at 9.00- 9.30 last night, I made sound choices.... And I kept with the 12-3-45 treadmill routine, with an added April Hahn standing abs exercise. (I like standing exercises- even though I have an excellent matt, somehow I always opt for standing exercises.. Anyone else preferences? Or even youtube recommendations???? )
8/25: DNW ... I just couldn't get on the scale this morning.. I know that we left the restaurant at midnight.. So there really was no point in getting frustrated... Overall, I did good.. I had a scoop of salad and a pork chop, of which I somewhat trimmed the fat.. No alcohol, so GO ME!!! I also did my 12-3-30 (30 minutes this time) early in the afternoon, even if it was somewhat butchered.. After the 20 min mark, I was going up and down the incline... It was funny.... Tonight we have a wedding of close friends, so again dinning out.... We shall see....
8/26: DNW At the beach, so no scale, but plenty of relaxing....
8/27: DNW Pretty much as yesterday, but with the added grilling!
8/28: 171.7lbs (77.9 kgr) Pleasantly surprised! At least it didn't remain stuck! During the weekend even though I didn’t exercise at my daily rhythm, I tried to stay active, limit the carbs and alcohol, and just enjoy myself... It was a challenging week food wise since for 5 consecutive days, we were eating out.. But even though I didn't lose the two pounds I had in mind, it's still ok in my mind.. the scale didn't go up, even though I wasn’t that strict !

8/28 Yesterday: ✅ 10k, macros, cal 1359 (ate back 159 of 600+ exercise minutes). 12-3-30 (Plan to ⬆️). Overall feeling positive and still determined! (Heat index was 115 yesterday but it cooled off pretty quickly with a brief thunderstorm!)
Todays plan: IF today (Will be inside most of the day, except for my walk). Also doctor appt. today to get my ears checked… My left ear is stopped up and who knows why? Balance seems off. (I haven’t been to the doctor in YEARS! [2018 pneumonia] Don’t get me going here - I know, I know, I know that’s unusual, but I have personal reasons). Get in 10k today and tennis tonight. Strength train today while watching US Open. Food planned ✅. Focus on increasing protein. Get to see my grandson this afternoon! Blessed day!

8/27 Yesterday: I hit my 1200 calorie goal. Enjoyed an excellent grilled shrimp salad last night. 500+ active calories. But only 8k steps. Stayed inside most of the day. Relaxed. I did have two small squares of dark chocolate. My husband said it wasn’t going to kill me.
Oh, I did give up (suspended) IF when the temperature reached the 100+ (about 7 to 10 days ago…) I just felt like I needed food before I left for the tennis court. Once the temperature drops, I’ll return to I F.
I’ll get my 10k steps today and will also complete 12–3–30. Routine going well.
NSV: My hiking pants zip comfortably… Hoping they will fit PERFECTLY in 5 weeks! (Loose!) I’m feeling a whole lot better - more energy. It’s a huge difference.
Part of my personal 🎢 Is that I have size 4 to 10 in my closet. Can anyone relate with multiple sizes? Can’t I just have two sizes in my closet? I was a single mom for 17 years, and I had closets full of MANY different sizes of clothes… I don’t want to live that way. All I want is max two sizes. My entire adult life I’ve had up to five sizes in my closet. I must embrace the FACT that staying fit is a personal commitment and takes a LOT of proactive actions. It will never come natural to me. But then my inner-voice tells me “never say never”.

8/26 Yesterday was a really good day! BUT …The heat has WORN ME DOWN…it’s been between 110-115° (heat index) all week. Today will be same.
I’m proud of myself for deciding to eat more calories… And trusting that information. Yesterday I only walked 8k steps but burned 800 exercise calories. (long tennis match). I had my usual egg breakfast and then for a late lunch I had a chicken breast/tomatoes/cucumber/Greek yogurt salad that was actually, pretty tasty. I knew I was strong headed into the party last night…
Oh my WHAT a spread! Luckily, there was so much protein to choose from (Beef tenderloin and smoked salmon) I wasn’t too tempted by the charcuterie, cheeses, pimento cheese, chaffing dips, (Although I did have one taste of the hot crab meat!) … I actually passed up the bread pudding, and doberge (sp?) cake! I even skipped alcohol! Skipping that land-mine was not difficult because it was so damn hot! (The bar was outside and it was just too hot to venture out… So I drank divine water and it was DELICIOUS!) So I was able to stay way under my net calorie goal because I had worked out so much… I feel great this morning! I probably had 6-8 oz of tenderloin, & 5-6 oz of the salmon, and I was good to go!
I actually feel “light” this morning. I actually want to jump on the scale, but I’m not because I don’t want to take this feeling away. I’m more proud of yesterday than I am of anything the scale could possibly report! I’m going to stick to my plan…. DNW!
I think what I’m most proud of about yesterday was knowing that I was going to the party and having a plan …. And I came out on the other side, feeling victorious instead of feeling defeated.
One more quick note: The party last night: one of my lifelong friends (my age 65) threw a surprise birthday party for her 70yr boyfriend. She has been divorced for about 20 years, and met the love of her life two years ago. They are precious together. The party was so positive and uplifting! She was so happy! Seeing their joy has given me such a boost.
It’s early yet I may stay inside all day or I may venture out… I’m looking forward to another good day!

8/25. No whoosh but I’ll take it. Not even a pound. But better ⬇️ than ⬆️. Thank God I’m not going to weigh till the 29th! I might even wait until the 31st. I know that I’m on my plan and so I’m just gonna stick with it. Yesterday I bought a protein supplement - I don’t think I’m getting enough calories or protein. I had a gorgeous piece of wild sockeye salmon last night for dinner so my proteins were enough yesterday. 12k steps…. 600+ active calories, (no tennis) keep moving. I don’t see myself doing any additional work until the heat gets back to normal. I have another competitive tennis match this morning, so the treadmill will once again be delayed.
I’m thankful for so many things in my life… I just have to keep focused and control my thoughts. Going to a big party tonight so I’ll be prepared! Looking forward to seeing friends I haven’t seen in a long while.

Yesterday was good food wise. I didn’t feel great — got my flu and RSV shots Thursday and I always react a bit, I’m such a delicate flower 🤪. The weather has been lovely but this week, starting today, is supposed to be hot hot hot. Off to water, then walk. Have a lovely Sunday, everyone!

Gaaa! Not only have my calories been high the past two days, but I feel bloated, although I haven’t been eating extra salt, at least. Do antihistamines cause water retention? I’ll have to look that up. I had/have an injection site reaction to my flu shot—red, itchy, inflamed—and I’ve been taking diphenhydramine (Benadryl) on advice of pharmacist. But why am I snacking so much, knowing I’m just undermining myself? A symptom of something else going on?

I did have some cheese last night as a snack, but did better—I weighed it and nibbled slowly and stuck with that. My arm is a lot better thanks at least partly to the Benadryl, but still red and slightly itchy. I’ve never reacted like that before. I’m meeting a friend for lunch — already checked the menu and I’m getting a grilled chicken salad, dressing on the side. DH wants brats for dinner, so I’ll have one and forego the bun. Now to stick with the plan! Off for a walk before the heat sets in—heat advisory for the next three days. Stay cool and safe, everyone.

So much for sticking to the plan. Actually I did at lunch—resisted the personal pizzas and enjoyed my grilled chicken salad. But at dinner I ended up eating 2 brats with buns and a boiled new potato, and I ate some ice cream later. Ugh. I’m starting journaling today to see if I can get a handle on why I’m doing this to myself. Rebellion? Depression? Something else?

Yay! Not my happiest weight, but at least I’m moving a bit in the right direction, finally. Today we slept late, and had French toast for breakfast (mine with no sugar/sweetener raspberry preserves, and I pour extra egg mix on my toast while it’s cooking) and DH is making pork fried rice for dinner. I’ll probably skip lunch, or just have a sliced tomato, since I ate big and late. All good! Now off to water and weed. Have a great Saturday!

Working not to stress eat today. Struggling with dog & DH issues, and forgive me, but this feels like one of the only places I can vent this stuff. Yesterday puppy Booker, who is now 60+ pounds at almost 10 months, pulled DH over and got away from him on a walk, wanting to play with another dog. DH is 88 years old, so this is not a good thing. He did manage to get him under control and home, and didn’t get hurt but for a few bruises, but it could have been much worse. I’m 70, and after 30+ years of training and competing, I knew a smaller dog than our many Labs and Aussies would be a better choice, although *I* can handle this puppy. But no, DH wanted a Lab. Now he’s surprised at the energy and physicality of this pup. I now realize that what he wanted was our last Lab, Lily, who was almost 15 when she died and his quiet, gentle walking buddy for her last years. He’s forgotten how she (and the others) was as a puppy/young dog. But if I return this pup to the breeder or place him with someone who will nurture his brains and energy, I’m the one—not DH—who will take the flak from people (and trust me, there will be plenty). So they’re off for a walk as I write this, and every time they do this now I will worry. DH thinks he’s a better dog handler than he is, and has always declined to take any classes over the years, which I used to suggest, because dog training classes are about people training. He doesn’t anticipate situations and isn’t proactive about redirecting canine attention. He spends no time training the pup, I do all that, and then he wonders why the puppy doesn’t do what he (DH) tells him. Duh. Ok, done venting. This is weight related because it all makes me crave stupid things like Fritos. I’m resisting.

8/22: 219.0 - on track to end today with 800-1000 cal deficit even after a planned taco dinner, weighed in AM after breakfast so that explains the + from yesterday. Rode 50 minute HIIT cycling class today and surprisingly had my highest average watts in my history of cycle classes! I was feeling so so going into it but I think a Celsius drink helped, along with the instructor's motivation and music tracks really had me hit it hard. HR through the ride ranged from 90 to 179 with about 4 minutes total in Zone 5(above 171 for me is Z5) . Felt great afterward! I usually see a 5-6 pound water loss per hour while doing HIIT cycle so anticipate a lower scale weight tomorrow after replenishing.
8/23: 217.6 - as expected, scale movement downward this AM. Had a good 45 minute strength workout followed by a 50 minute indoor bike endurance ride (zone 3 with a few Z4 bursts in there). Should end day with a 850 cal deficit after a planned pork roast and veggies dinner. Feeling great today!
8/24: 217.0 - more downward movement, great! Did a 45 minute strength group class this AM followed by a quick 15 minute endurance indoor bike. Planning on doing a 45 minute PM class as today's my double gym day. Saturday is rest this week. Still have dinner to go but targeting a 600-700 cal deficit today. Still hot outside so can't quite ride outdoors yet. looking forward to fall.

Gaaa! Not only have my calories been high the past two days, but I feel bloated, although I haven’t been eating extra salt, at least. Do antihistamines cause water retention? I’ll have to look that up. I had/have an injection site reaction to my flu shot—red, itchy, inflamed—and I’ve been taking diphenhydramine (Benadryl) on advice of pharmacist. But why am I snacking so much, knowing I’m just undermining myself? A symptom of something else going on?

I did have some cheese last night as a snack, but did better—I weighed it and nibbled slowly and stuck with that. My arm is a lot better thanks at least partly to the Benadryl, but still red and slightly itchy. I’ve never reacted like that before. I’m meeting a friend for lunch — already checked the menu and I’m getting a grilled chicken salad, dressing on the side. DH wants brats for dinner, so I’ll have one and forego the bun. Working not to stress eat today. Struggling with dog & DH issues, and forgive me, but this feels like one of the only places I can vent this stuff. @SheilaBoneham We have strikingly similar dog issues over here except we are better able to physically manage the dogs. My husband had an old lab that was a pleasure to walk, could be off leash, etc. We have a lab mix that has the lab energy and pit bull body/strength and she's a nightmare. We actually sent her off recently for e-collar training and it has changed our relationship with her in the best way. She used to pull us down the street on walks and now she doesn't even pull! I too have always taken charge of their training (to a different level obviously; we don't do competitions or anything like that). This is the first time my DH has at least sort of engaged with their training because it's the least exhausting of all our training we've tried. He likes to zone out on walks and listen to music etc., which I understand, but I'm always scanning for distractions and diversions that will make the dogs react. I'm sorry your DH got pulled over and I hope he will take it as a warning that he needs to be trained himself on how to manage the dog! Labs can be a LOT.4 -

8/21: 130.2 Hmpf! Hoping my body is holding on to water from pizza and wings for dinner, plus achy muscles after running 9 miles yesterday. I have 3 more full training weeks before the half-marathon on September 17th and I feel like I can definitely do it (albeit slowly)! I joined this RunDot program that has a customized training plan based on my own thresholds and it helps me not bonk when I'm running. It gives me pretty slow target paces but TBH I think that's really the best thing for me to avoid injury or burning out. It estimates that my pace will be 11:30 per mile which is okay with me! Anyway, today I'm just going to take my dog for a walk and do some strength training via Peloton. My dog Pancake returned from a 2-week board and train on Saturday and we haven't had a chance to practice a lot of her skills yet. So the walk will be less of a workout for me and more of a mental workout for her. She pulls on her leash really badly so it takes a lot of effort to keep her focused! Hoping one day she can just know that's the expectation. My other dog is at training now, and he isn't showing his trainer any of his issues which is super annoying. He usually lunges for cars and squirrels and such and I guess he just isn't doing it. His training may be the biggest financial mistake I've made in a while. Whoops.
8/22: 132!! I don't understand what's going on. Well, actually I do. I am eating too much. Yesterday I was so hungry during the day. I think a lot of it is due to my running and strength training, but I'm not finding the correct fuel for my body. Yesterday I had a binge session of sourdough toast with butter. 3 slices in sequence. 1 slice, break, 1 slice, break, and yet another slice. I really haven't been prone to binge snacking until recently. I also got a silly Starbucks coffee. Whyyy?? On the plus side, I finally got a good night's sleep last night!! My 2-year-old slept through. He's been waking up each night and climbing into my bed. I'm sure it won't happen again any time soon, but for today, I feel pretty good. Maybe that will help me with the snack choices.
8/23: 131. I did a lot better yesterday but still need to focus. I made chicken enchiladas and was surprised to see how many calories they rang in when I tracked them, whoops. They didn't FEEL like 700 calories each!! And I ate one plus what the 2yo left behind. So I ended up eating at least 500 over my allotment + my exercise calories, ugh. But at least I tracked! That is progress. Today is dog walk plus strength training. It's Pancake's last day as a solo pup since we pick her brother up tomorrow! I'm thinking of taking her on a hike since that will be harder with two dogs, but I probably need to actually do some work today. Maybe we'll just do a longer walk than normal.

I was doing pretty well yesterday but started feeling festive when a gigantic report (really the culmination of all of my work for the past year and a half) got approved in the afternoon. We'd bought supplies to make Kentucky mules (Moscow mules with bourbon instead of vodka) and hadn't used them, so I decided I needed two of them last night, followed by two beers. Ahh! Going to have an alcohol-free day today and try to stay on track, despite the fact that my husband made hazelnut pancakes this morning. I have to run 5ish miles today for my half marathon training. Since I have meetings this morning and won't be able to beat the heat I'll do it on my treadmill this afternoon. I got my days mixed up and *today* is the last day Pancake is an only dog. I think I'm going to take her on a small hike while I listen in on a meeting that I don't have to speak much on. We'll both feel good after that!

I’m happy to share because otherwise I would just keep drinking it myself. I love champagne. No French toast for me. I’ve been eating carnivore the last few days and my fasting glucose is fantastic and ketones improving AND my knees quit hurting!

8/28 - 152.9 - This is probably wine. We had company come over, including a child. This child won't eat his own food, but will eat anything else, especially if he can't have it. The mom allows this, too, unfortunately. They arrived just as I was plating dinner so I served BF and the boys first - the boys who went and hid in their rooms to eat (with our permission as that's not allowed otherwise) and BF stuffed his face while they were unloading and I finished plating/cleaning. I got about 3 bites and then had to hide it. Their visit lasted too long and I ended up saving it for lunch today and eating a biscuit with some butter so I didn't go to sleep famished but wouldn't have heartburn from eating too close to bed. This uptick might also be sodium-related, as we ordered an item while in town and ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant (read: salty chips and salsa) while waiting for it to be fulfilled to pick up. Stayed active through the day, though and am not worried about this uptick.

Previous Day's Comments8/20 - I'm up a tad but I'm sure that's sodium. Instead of dinner, I ate chips and guac as a "dinner" snack. Lunch was late, but I was hungry while nobody else was so no "real" food for dinner. Today is a quiet day of working on the house. We got the loan approved to remodel our barely-functioning master bathroom, yippee! Bought the replacement power outlets and light switches for the entire house (a previous project) and looked at flooring/tile while there for the bathroom. Colors (paint, vanity, etc) will all be based on what we can get tile/flooring that is tasteful, to our liking, and within budget. We have a really good idea now so just planning a look at some other places first to see if there's anything we like more within budget elsewhere. The boys have an appointment this afternoon and while they're gone, I'll knock out grocery shopping. I've got every dinner except Friday figured out for this week and I'm about to figure out my lunches (meal prep) so I can finalize my grocery list. Also need to plan out my workouts. I have labs very early Tuesday and a doc appointment early Friday so I'll have to plan around those. I'll be happy to get back to routine.
8/21 - Yesterday was the first full day of eating at home since last Monday and I was graced with a drop in return. Stuffed pepper soup with homemade artisan bread. We got 75% of the light switches and outlets replaced. It looks so much better. My poor hands hurt, though, from all the wires and such. I'm feeling very optimistic. I have healthy veggie-filled lunch options (leftover orzo veg soup frozen awhile back and leftover stuffed pepper soup from last night). Dinner has some good veg as well, which I'm cooking. I knocked out my kettlebell workout and a walk with the pups. Labs tomorrow morning and I'm exited to see if there's an improvement from last year with me sticking to my goals so well. Busy busy work the first half of this week so hoping for good meditation opportunities to help with stress relief.
8/22 - Whoohoo! The drop I've been looking for. Crazy because I ended up snacking on some of the leftover homemade donuts from the weekend as I was craving sweets and I was well over on calories. I'm also quite sore today from yesterday's kettlebell workout I did so I'm sure I'm holding on to some water there. I'm slowly getting back on track with my habits and I'm happy to see even the small changes are showing progress, even if that progress is only dropping the excess bloat/water from travel and weekend shenanigans. I need to get my eating back on track fully - no more snacking and pay attention to portions/body cues! Today I'm heading in to get labs done here shortly so no morning walk with pups. I'm not sure who is more disappointed - me or them! I've found it's so much harder to get my 10k steps when I don't have a morning walk. Those 1700-2000 steps really kickstart my day, even though it seems like such a small amount overall. I can't wait until it cools down enough in the evenings for after dinner walks with the pups. That also means morning runs to prepare for my 5k in November I've put off training for. Silly weather.
8/23 - A drop is a drop! A lot of stress happening in this house so I'm rather surprised. I'm keeping to my goals and plans, though. I could dial in my eating a bit more, but I'm making progress slowly and the scale is showing it, one tenth of a pound at a time haha Once this morning's meetings are over, I'll hopefully have a little less work-related stress to deal with and can focus on managing my personal life stress in a healthy manner. Knocked out kettlebell strength and walking the pups for the day. Dinner is Tuscan chicken (new recipe I'm making). Lunch is veg orzo soup or stuffed pepper soup. Bread is gone so I might use a single slice of sandwich bread to soak up the last of the broth which is more calorie-friendly than the large slice of artisan bread.
8/24 - One tenth of a pound at a time. But it's dropping, not gaining, so I'm content. Dinner had both heavy cream and cheese and I didn't even think to take my lactose pill. I did my kettlebell workout (pushed to today since I have a doc appointment tomorrow) and walked the dogs. Dinner is steak, potatoes, and some kind of veg. Not much else to report on.
8/25 - DNP
8/26 - Both days of 153 were after sodium-filled dinners. We ended up having a last-minute meetup with Fam on Thursday and FamHub cooked which is always full of sodium. Last night, BF cooked for the first time since I was home from travel and I could taste the sodium. I'm feeling okay, though, since I know exactly what's going on. I'm in charge of dinners every day this week, starting today, except steak night on Thursday (likely another sodium-rich meal) so I can tame things down. Good news, my labs came back looking ideal and I'm in excellent health. I've pretty much maintained, but there are ever so slight improvements from the last labs as far as my minerals and water intake - a sure sign my focus on a better diet has improved my body.
8/27 - I made dinner last night and therefore I had much less salt intake. BF adds salt to his plate, but thankfully it's not in the entire meal so I can forego it. We ripped out the old person tub that was leaky and iffy yesterday. Going to put a regular tub and shower in. This one is just a tub replacement so we're doing it off paychecks. Yesterday was destruction day. Today we'll finish destroying and then start piecing it back together. We'll need a functioning (not leaking) shower to use for whenever we start working on remodeling our bathroom. Since we're waiting to build back up some funds for our bathroom, we might as well prep the other one for our temporary use! Chicken and biscuit casserole was a hit last night. Tonight is my first attempt at salisbury steaks. Let's hope I get this right! I'm going to go start biscuits and gravy for this morning. A hearty meal (and BF's favorite) before a full day of manual labor.

Going to stool softeners today and hoping for some relief. I shed a lot of water yesterday which likely explains such a big whoosh. But I needed to get this fluid pushed through since the old ticker has a hard time with it. So I’m happy that my body finally took care of it. I am pre-logging my food and planning a good day today. I got over 7 hours of sleep last night! No REM or Deep sleep to mention of (according to Fitbit) but I still feel much better today. Now, if my lower tummy and TMI would just cooperate!
08/28 -193.6- (Trend weight 196.4) I laid around all weekend babying myself. No exercise. I didn’t even get dressed. Just not feeling the greatest. Day 4 of no TMI. I just wasn’t as hungry with no tummy relief. Lower tummy still feeling like it’s full of steel Perry marbles. My meals were normal but no desire to snack so my night time snacks were skipped. Maybe I can learn a lesson here? Anyway, Metamucil, here I come. You are my last real hope!

History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse. A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

8/21 – 124.8 Yesterday was within reason. Not perfect, but a sign I can get back on track.
Dealing with my parents issues and puts me in a place where I can forget self care. Friday, I find my father has been mismedicating my mother in two says which explains her request for new/additional pain meds, and the recent onset of bowel urgency. This public discovery by me then set him up to be combative the rest of the day. 2022 taxes are still not finished. So I have tasked him to spend ONE HOUR over the weekend to finish it. Saturday night (I have been calling at least twice a day for the past month), I check in at 7:15 to remind that is the time for the night pills. My mother says “I already took them at 7. We decided to change it to a whole number.” Now, does 15 minute matter? Likely not. But combined with the fact she already made me move them from 7:45 to 7:15, and then learning of wrong medications the previous day, AND no sign my father has done anything productive, just set me off. Oh, and she refuses to mute the TV that is 3 feet away from her while talking to me, but wants me to call MORE. She was happily controlling the TV while my father was in the hospital once I taught her, now she refuses. I am not proud, but I am radio silent for a bit. Efforts are not reciprocated. Sorry for the rant. Siblings state platitudes when I share what is going on.
Has anyone heard of the Benjamin Franklin Effect. From a reddit discussion (set off a lightbulb for me): “The sad psychological fact is, people like you more after they do favors for you, and like you less after you do favors for them… counter-intuitive but true.” This might explain my problem.

PS DGS#2 has decided to show up late. He older brother came on his due date, so we are a little surprised. Still waiting for him to show.
8/22 – 124.8 Ate perfectly yesterday and caught up on a lot of things, but no exercise. Happy enough. AND DGS#2 surprised me by arriving at 3:01 this morning. I was still texting my daughter at home at 11:30 last night. No real details yet. In a few, I am driving to their house to pick up the cats to babysit them for a couple weeks. Will be four kitties in our home and NO they do not all get along. But have done it plenty before.
8/23 – 124.2 Hairballs and humans got their weigh in. I did this also on January 1st when cat sitting also, and was “day 1” for me returning to better choices.

8/28 – 125.6 Day was on track until after 9 PM, and I got into the peanut butter jar. Why is making good choices while maintaining, so much harder than when losing?

About Me:This is my fifth round and really appreciated having someplace to stay accountable.
Thanks to a medication I'm on for my mental health and an overeating habit, I managed to gain a lot of weight in the last year or so. On July 4, I stepped on the scale for the first time since I started the med (that is known to cause weight gain) and decided enough was enough. I buckled down and started actually recording my food for the first time in over five years and started walking every day. Now I need motivation to keep going.

8/20 - 260.0 - 2.93 miles - Today was kind of a rough day. Wore my new shoes and all seemed fine for a while and then a little over halfway in, my knee just started aching and by the time I got back to my own street, I was hobbling along. Then the site I do my daily journal on has been offline for days which has put me on edge because I had nowhere to vent my frustrations. Then my husband brought home a carrot cake (my fave), apple pie (also a fave) and two bags of chips (my trigger food). I wanted to cry because I told him last night I was suddenly feeling very "snacky" and having trouble distracting myself from binging on junk. And he wanted burgers with bacon and hot dogs for dinner. Ugh. So I ate way more than I should have (had a burger with no bacon which made me sad, half a serving of mac & cheese and a serving of french fries. I feel blah now and still craving potato chips and pie. According to the site, I'm still under my calories for the day (just barely) so I can't really eat anything else. It's going to be a long night of trying not to think of all the junk in the house I want to eat. I'm so close to my first major goal (250lbs)--I don't want to do any more backsliding with cheat days until I get below 250.
8/21 - 260.8 - 2.76 miles - Been a tough day. My walk wasn't great and I had to eat up the rest of the pork roast so I had a big lunch and big dinner and don't have room for dessert or a snack and all I want to do is snack on everything. All of these yummy things (apple pie, carrot cake, hot dogs, potato chips) taunting me all day long. Ugh. This is going to be a long week.
8/22 - 260.4 - 3.29 miles - I think it's conclusive that wearing my old, beat-up Sketchers that are nearly worn all the way through the bottoms means I can walk farther and faster. And not come home in so much pain I can barely move for hours. So frustrating. I'm going to continue breaking in the new Sketchers, but not sure what to do about the other sneakers. I guess I could wear them for shorter walks, but I'm trying to build up to more than 3.5 miles. Anyway, made chicken tortilla soup tonight. The recipe calls for heavy cream (or half & half like I usually use) to make it super creamy. I did not put any cream in. It was still delicious with a half cup of rice, some reduced fat cheese and reduced fat sour cream.
8/23 - 259.8 - 3.34 miles - forgot to post this yesterday
8/24 - 257.8 - 3.46 miles - Wore my new Sketchers and no new blisters. No old blisters either. My one toe was rubbing on the front and going numb but for the most part they were comfortable and I got a long walk in. Hopefully, I'm finally breaking these in.
8/25 - 255.8 - 2.43 miles - Had to cut my walk short. I had to watch my grandson this morning and he refused to go on the walk so I had to wait until someone else woke up but then my daughter called and wanted to talk to him and next thing I knew it was noon and already 85F outside. I made it like 48 minutes and almost 2 1/2 miles but the last few blocks were miserable. I was so hot, sweaty, dehydrated (at that point, I only had a few sips left in my bottle and it was so warm I could barely stand it) and felt sick from the heat. Thank god for air conditioning. I also missed dinner last night (long story) so I had breakfast this morning and it kind of threw my whole day off since I don't normally eat until 1pm. My head started hurting while I cooked dinner earlier. Not sure if it's heat related from earlier or just a random headache.
8/26 - 255.8 - 3.19 miles - Got out a little bit late for my walk so it was sort of hot. I skipped a lot of my normal turns that draw out the walk because of it. Then I had a light lunch and made lemon pepper chicken for dinner. I had enough calories leftover to have a nice bowl of Life cereal for dessert. Still hot tomorrow so I'll try to actually get out at an early hour to beat the heat.
8/27 - 256.8 - 3.12 miles - Thankfully, it wasn't super hot when I went for my walk and I got to do my usual route. It was awfully humid though which is weird for the area I live in.
8/28 - 254.2 - 4.39 miles - I decided to walk to the grocery store today for the first time in years. It was cool and drizzling so better than the super hot weather lately. It's about 2 miles from the house which is fine. I normally walk three miles during the day. The problem is coming home where the last mile is all uphill and part of that is pretty steep. I was doing fine until that point (other than having bought too much and the bag was digging into my shoulder). I got up the super steep part but was out of breath so I stopped at our HOA clubhouse to get more water and sit down for a bit. I ended up spending an hour there reading a book. It was nice and quiet with no one interrupting me every few minutes. I also got some Subway while I was out (first time in a couple years) which was a nice treat that I've been craving for a while, but sadly, I forgot to have them toast it.

Very very hot today. Also a very stressful day. But with deep breathes and loud music I got through it. So happy I got to end this day with snuggles on the couch with my 9 year old. Best way to end any day.

I'm thinking this is a result of too much sodium and not enough water... Wish there wasn't so much sodium in everything I like. On the plus side I hit my first goal for exercising a total of 60 minutes. I know it doesn't seem like much, but for me it is a great start.

Today was such a crazy day from start to finish I kind of forgot to weigh in... But I am setting a reminder on my phone to weigh in tomorrow. Right now I'm just exhausted and ready to call it a night. Today I am starting my second exercise goal. I want to get to 90 minutes, I'm not putting a time frame on these because I don't want to pressure myself and think I have to do it for so long at a certain time.

Today was another busy and very stressful day. I've gotten creative in finding ways and times to exercise while I'm working. I bought a sit to stand desk so I'm able to stand and dance while I work, which I have done quite a bit. I also ordered a pedal bike to go under my desk while I'm sitting. I'm so excited that I have already reached my second exercise goal. Makes me feel very good because I honestly thought it would take me a bit longer to reach it. I'm planning on starting my third exercise goal tomorrow.

This has been such a long hard week. I'm so glad that it is the weekend. Today my kids only had a half day of school due to the extreme heat. So this evening I got to spend a lot of quality time with my youngest. My 16 year old was given the position of Head Editor for the high school year book. I'm so very proud of her. Part of that title comes with more responsibilities than she had last year on the yearbook. She is excited and looking forward to the challenge. Of course this means that every Friday night she will be busy with football games until the end of the season. I started my new exercise challenge today I made it quite a bit more difficult for myself this time. This one will take a bit longer to achieve. Unfortunately due to the heat I wasn't able to exercise as much as I would like. My knees and ankles seem to swell really bad when it gets super hot and it makes just normal moving around painful. I swear sometimes my body feels like I'm three times my actual age. I guess that is payback for all of the trauma I endured during my younger years. I just realized I'm writing in this thing like a journal. I don't think that is the actual point of this, but it I guess that is how I'm doing it today.

Over the weekend I didn't post on here but I did weigh myself. I didn't really do much exercising except for the bit that comes with cleaning. Weekends are my time to clean. During the week by the time I've finished work, made supper, gotten my youngest ready for school tomorrow and ready for bed I'm exhausted. So I only end up doing the bare minimum. On the weekends it's like cleaning spree. I know we always did that when I was growing up, which is probably why I do it the same way. We had some excruciatingly hot days this weekend. Thankfully today was a little cooler. I finally got my exercise bike in that goes right under my desk so I can pedal while I work. I did it a few times today and really enjoyed it. I was sitting at my desk working up a sweat while I was doing my actual work. Right now I'm thinking this was a genius idea. Really hoping that this will help me reach my exercise goals and help me continue to drop some weight. I'm already thinking about the next round. Ways I want to try to improve and things that I can do to motivate myself.

65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 233 (my 163rd). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, so grateful.
Goal this round again is to get back under and stay under 138, I really don’t want to keep hovering around 140 pounds. Holiday is now in 21 days,3 weeks! I still need to crack on & lose a few more pounds, starting to get back into some holiday clothes, but can't let up: time is running out! So, 21 days, 2 rounds at a pound per week should get me better than I am, I’ve done it before so I can do it again if I knuckle down!! Really try to stay on track & do another complete round without binging. After all I am what I eat in more ways than one, my whole demeanour is totally different when I am happy with myself!!Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

8/29 138.8 – would have liked to see a drop as was extremely careful this weekend, but it is what it is!! 6.35 miles walked yesterday and travelled back home , less than 50% calories eaten back. Clothes are definitely a more comfortable fit, 1.8 pound decrease this round, I am doing daily toning exercises.
This is the beautiful peaceful spot where we spent the weekend (coudn't post them over the weekend whilst using my 'phone - had to wait til I got home on my laptop!

Gaaa! Not only have my calories been high the past two days, but I feel bloated, although I haven’t been eating extra salt, at least. Do antihistamines cause water retention? I’ll have to look that up. I had/have an injection site reaction to my flu shot—red, itchy, inflamed—and I’ve been taking diphenhydramine (Benadryl) on advice of pharmacist. But why am I snacking so much, knowing I’m just undermining myself? A symptom of something else going on?

I did have some cheese last night as a snack, but did better—I weighed it and nibbled slowly and stuck with that. My arm is a lot better thanks at least partly to the Benadryl, but still red and slightly itchy. I’ve never reacted like that before. I’m meeting a friend for lunch — already checked the menu and I’m getting a grilled chicken salad, dressing on the side. DH wants brats for dinner, so I’ll have one and forego the bun. Now to stick with the plan! Off for a walk before the heat sets in—heat advisory for the next three days. Stay cool and safe, everyone.

Yay! Not my happiest weight, but at least I’m moving a bit in the right direction, finally. Today we slept late, and had French toast for breakfast (mine with no sugar/sweetener raspberry preserves, and I pour extra egg mix on my toast while it’s cooking) and DH is making pork fried rice for dinner. I’ll probably skip lunch, or just have a sliced tomato, since I ate big and late. All good! Now off to water and weed. Have a great Saturday!

Working not to stress eat today. Struggling with dog & DH issues, and forgive me, but this feels like one of the only places I can vent this stuff. Yesterday puppy Booker, who is now 60+ pounds at almost 10 months, pulled DH over and got away from him on a walk, wanting to play with another dog. DH is 88 years old, so this is not a good thing. He did manage to get him under control and home, and didn’t get hurt but for a few bruises, but it could have been much worse. Aside from the immediate hazard issue, I feel a bit trapped, unable to leave DH to care for the pup if I need/want to be away for any length of time. I’ve put a lot of work (and money) into this puppy—he already has multiple competition titles—and had lots of goals and dreams for training and competing. But safety is first, so I’m on the horns of a huge dilemma. And I’m more than a little ticked off because when I was looking for another dog after Rory died last year, I wanted to go smaller. I’m 70, and after 30+ years of training and competing, I knew a smaller dog than our many Labs and Aussies would be a better choice, although *I* can handle this puppy. But no, DH wanted a Lab. Now he’s surprised at the energy and physicality of this pup. I now realize that what he wanted was our last Lab, Lily, who was almost 15 when she died and his quiet, gentle walking buddy for her last years. He’s forgotten how she (and the others) was as a puppy/young dog. But if I return this pup to the breeder or place him with someone who will nurture his brains and energy, I’m the one—not DH—who will take the flak from people (and trust me, there will be plenty). So they’re off for a walk as I write this, and every time they do this now I will worry. DH thinks he’s a better dog handler than he is, and has always declined to take any classes over the years, which I used to suggest, because dog training classes are about people training. He doesn’t anticipate situations and isn’t proactive about redirecting canine attention. He spends no time training the pup, I do all that, and then he wonders why the puppy doesn’t do what he (DH) tells him. Duh. Ok, done venting. This is weight related because it all makes me crave stupid things like Fritos. I’m resisting.

8/23: 172.4 lbs (78.2 kgr) For the life of me I have no clue where those 200 grams came from.. My last meal of the day was at 15:00, packed full of protein, with less than 20% carbs. 45 minutes on the treadmill 12-3-45 ...Hmmm .. A tad frustrating but I will keep on expecting the drop... The thing that worries me is that for the next three nights we have some social outings that food is the star of the night… Hm….
8/24: 172.4 (78.2) The fact that last night, tonight and tomorrow we will be dinning out, does not help with the morning weigh-in. But I am happy and proud that even though I ate at 9.00- 9.30 last night, I made sound choices.... And I kept with the 12-3-45 treadmill routine, with an added April Hahn standing abs exercise. (I like standing exercises- even though I have an excellent matt, somehow I always opt for standing exercises.. Anyone else preferences? Or even youtube recommendations???? )
8/25: DNW ... I just couldn't get on the scale this morning.. I know that we left the restaurant at midnight.. So there really was no point in getting frustrated... Overall, I did good.. I had a scoop of salad and a pork chop, of which I somewhat trimmed the fat.. No alcohol, so GO ME!!! I also did my 12-3-30 (30 minutes this time) early in the afternoon, even if it was somewhat butchered.. After the 20 min mark, I was going up and down the incline... It was funny.... Tonight we have a wedding of close friends, so again dinning out.... We shall see....

8/28: 171.7lbs (77.9 kgr) Pleasantly surprised! At least it didn't remain stuck! During the weekend even though I didn’t exercise at my daily rhythm, I tried to stay active, limit the carbs and alcohol, and just enjoy myself... It was a challenging week food wise since for 5 consecutive days, we were eating out.. But even though I didn't lose the two pounds I had in mind, it's still ok in my mind.. the scale didn't go up, even though I wasn’t that strict !

Starting here, starting my day - I already feel better.Had to travel all last week for work, no scales, out to dinner, out to lunch, even food choice in morning were so limited due to time constraints. I was so nervous to weigh myself this morning, but I put on / actually took off my big girl socks and was shocked to see I was still in the 119's barely...This week is going to be about getting back to normal healthy eating habits.

Funny because had planned to eat 3 of my protein cookies for dessert last night but just drank water, I think the heat dulled my craving. As for the "Ben Franklin Effect" I have not heard of and will need to look into... hitting way to close to my home and experience.

Started my new medication yesterday was feeling little funky all day, doctor said could take 3 days to 2 weeks to normalize- but the goal was to be awake in day time and I was but not be wired which also surprising was not wired too. Sadly still woke early and did not feel well rested- - which is something I rarely feel anyways. Doctor ordered sleep study...does concur with narcolepsy diagnosis and being referred me to a specialist- so feeling blessed may have this one dysfunction managed. Then on to everything else.
8/24 120.6- Not nice surprise-funny how last several days I approached the scale hesitant thinking weight will go upland it went down- today was feeling confident and it went up- proving I as I already know I can not read others minds and now can not read my body either. No sleep last night, so feeling weary today. Was way under calories- pickleball in excessive humidity according to apple watch really burns calories, I usually do not eat after 7Pm, but because I got home at 8:30 dripping!!! in sweat- took a shower, decided to make a smoothie, hit the spot, and good hydration, and no heart burn- but wonder if that contributed to bad night sleep? It is hard now figuring out a new balance, I am working to at least 5 PM or later, so now working out in evening... Working out feels like a luxury so having trouble scheduling in morning, /I need to figure this out.

Funny, as I was complaining here about balancing work and exercise, I was chatting with my co-worker before our meeting and she started the same conversation..she has more to balance though so impressive what she accomplishes. We are having an incredibly hot & humid week, I am hoping my hair survives daily shampoos- not a good thing- Feel back on track with my eating but I do need to schedule exercise, since my accident in May it has been easy to excuse weigh training and I need to figure when to do it and start that habit again.

Someone even complimented my hair on way out- Bummer I wish I could duplicate that style again. Another group of friends wanted to play at 1PM- so went to 11:30 service, ran home stuffed that pizza down- and off to play again for 1 or more hours.

8/29 This is my 🎢 . I’ve been high on life keeping with the process and the ⚖️brought me down. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Way Down. (OK I could’ve said “weigh” down, but I’m not in the mood to smile) When am I going to realize that busting my butt and eating air is the new normal? Serving a life sentence? Ngl -There is NO positivity this morning. A “watched scale” never loses?!? My only guess is that my activity has increased so much that I’m gaining a little muscle while loosing a little fat. Was it worth it this round? Sure. Absolutely. No doubt. But my God, this is hard as hell. 15k steps yesterday. TONS of water. 2 hrs of tennis…. Slept like a brick last night. Pumped a little iron. Todays plan: IF today. Also doctor appt. today to get my ears checked… My left ear is stopped up and who knows why? Balance seems off. (I haven’t been to the doctor in YEARS! 8/27 Yesterday: I hit my 1200 calorie goal. Enjoyed an excellent grilled shrimp salad last night. 500+ active calories. But only 8k steps. Stayed inside most of the day. Relaxed. I did have two small squares of dark chocolate. My husband said it wasn’t going to kill me.
Oh, I did give up (suspended) IF when the temperature reached the 100+ (about 7 to 10 days ago…) I just felt like I needed food before I left for the tennis court. Once the temperature drops, I’ll return to I F.
I’ll get my 10k steps today and will also complete 12–3–30. Routine going well.
NSV: My hiking pants zip comfortably… Hoping they will fit PERFECTLY in 5 weeks! (Loose!) I’m feeling a whole lot better - more energy. It’s a huge difference.
Part of my personal 🎢 Is that I have size 4 to 10 in my closet. Can anyone relate with multiple sizes? Can’t I just have two sizes in my closet? I was a single mom for 17 years, and I had closets full of MANY different sizes of clothes… I don’t want to live that way. All I want is max two sizes. My entire adult life I’ve had up to five sizes in my closet. I must embrace the FACT that staying fit is a personal commitment and takes a LOT of proactive actions. It will never come natural to me. But then my inner-voice tells me “never say never”.

8/26 Yesterday was a really good day! BUT …The heat has WORN ME DOWN…it’s been between 110-115° (heat index) all week. Today will be same.
I’m proud of myself for deciding to eat more calories… And trusting that information. Yesterday I only walked 8k steps but burned 800 exercise calories. (long tennis match). I had my usual egg breakfast and then for a late lunch I had a chicken breast/tomatoes/cucumber/Greek yogurt salad that was actually, pretty tasty. I knew I was strong headed into the party last night…
Oh my WHAT a spread! Luckily, there was so much protein to choose from (Beef tenderloin and smoked salmon) I wasn’t too tempted by the charcuterie, cheeses, pimento cheese, chaffing dips, (Although I did have one taste of the hot crab meat!) … I actually passed up the bread pudding, and doberge (sp?) cake! I even skipped alcohol! Skipping that land-mine was not difficult because it was so damn hot! (The bar was outside and it was just too hot to venture out… So I drank divine water and it was DELICIOUS!) So I was able to stay way under my net calorie goal because I had worked out so much… I feel great this morning! I probably had 6-8 oz of tenderloin, & 5-6 oz of the salmon, and I was good to go!
I actually feel “light” this morning. I actually want to jump on the scale, but I’m not because I don’t want to take this feeling away. I’m more proud of yesterday than I am of anything the scale could possibly report! I’m going to stick to my plan…. DNW!
I think what I’m most proud of about yesterday was knowing that I was going to the party and having a plan …. And I came out on the other side, feeling victorious instead of feeling defeated.
One more quick note: The party last night: one of my lifelong friends (my age 65) threw a surprise birthday party for her 70yr boyfriend. She has been divorced for about 20 years, and met the love of her life two years ago. They are precious together. The party was so positive and uplifting! She was so happy! Seeing their joy has given me such a boost.
It’s early yet I may stay inside all day or I may venture out… I’m looking forward to another good day!

8/25. No whoosh but I’ll take it. Not even a pound. But better ⬇️ than ⬆️. Thank God I’m not going to weigh till the 29th! I might even wait until the 31st. I know that I’m on my plan and so I’m just gonna stick with it. Yesterday I bought a protein supplement - I don’t think I’m getting enough calories or protein. I had a gorgeous piece of wild sockeye salmon last night for dinner so my proteins were enough yesterday. 12k steps…. 600+ active calories, (no tennis) keep moving. I don’t see myself doing any additional work until the heat gets back to normal. I have another competitive tennis match this morning, so the treadmill will once again be delayed.
I’m thankful for so many things in my life… I just have to keep focused and control my thoughts. Going to a big party tonight so I’ll be prepared! Looking forward to seeing friends I haven’t seen in a long while.
