Hello, and welcome!
Lots of people come here to lose weight fast. They may or may not reach goal, but in most cases they are coming back again, having regained partially, or more.
I'm a big believer in losing weight by finding the easiest, most sustainable new habits that accomplish weight loss then keep me at a healthy weight long term. (I'm at 7+ years in maintenance so far, some up and down, but never out of the healthy range, and all in the same jeans size.) Figuring out new, enjoyable (at least tolerable/practical) eating and activity patterns, then practicing them until they become normal and can continue almost on autopilot: I think that's a good approach.
I get that you may need to lose weight kind of fast pre-surgery, then it will be ideal to eat at/near maintenance during the acute phase of healing post surgery. After that would be a great time to find those new, sustainable habits that continue loss to a healthy weight, and keep you there.
If you can do that, you'll not only handle that surgery better, but your new knee will have a longer period of useful life. Your other joints will get relief, too, I'd bet: I have much less discomfort/pain, way less often than I used to when obese, and the stronger/fitter I get (cautiously) the more things improve. That's in a context with osteoarthritis in various spots, and at least one torn meniscus (I'd bet both, but only one's been imaged), and at age 67 now. I was heading for knee surgery myself (according to my orthopedic doc), but it's been deferred for 8+ years and counting, so far.
You can do this, and you can make it last this time. I'm cheering for you!0
