That Moment of Possibility

70+ years old, I'd given up on dropping pounds to get healthier. Oh, don't get me wrong, I walk and work out with a trainer, but around the concept of weight loss, I'd erected a 20' wall. Naturally, with age, various little aches, pains, and limitations, began to inhibit mobility and ease. A period of trauma exacerbated those issues, and even my mood, which is usually buoyant and positive, plummeted.
But one day (thank heavens for those "one days"), I woke up thinking "Maybe I can." That was in early June. I made a first commitment to be absolutely honest with myself and others about my food. That was the biggie! Technically, if I wanted a dozen do****, I could have them, as long as I was honest with others, and actually reported the choice. I decided that the secrets and lack of communication were more dangerous for me than the food. Secrecy and prevarication, for me, are toxic.
Anyway, I'm three months in to telling and charting the truth. I added a couple of caveats to that first one: 1. A certain range of caloric intake per day, and 2. A certain limit on carbs per day. Those are flexible, but since my aim is to take off pounds, they are also essential. So, 20 lbs in less than three months, with MyFitnessPal and friends as my support system.

Your weight loss is commendable. I agree, the hard part is being honest with what you're eating, but I think the MyFitnessPal does help me keep on track.1

Hi Globedit, I applaud you in taking this step in your health & fitness journey! 20 lbs in 3 months is amazing!
I think it’s an ambitious goal and can be done, requiring a higher caloric deficit than your body is used to.
Your story is very inspiring. I wish I could get my mom to start using the app0 -
Are you still at it, Globedit? I am also 70+ and wanting to get back in the game.0
