Hey everyone, I’m quite new here and I was just wondering is the post workout protein intake critical for muscle/weight gain?

Nope. This is majoring in the minors. While the window is optimal, it's really only effective if you're like a competitive athlete. Results for people who are just average lifters are not substantial enough to see a big result.
What's funny is that rebuilding of muscle that 's worked out is done on your rest day and not immediately after you work out so why would you take it then? It's MORE important to do it on the day you rest.

Niner is of course correct, but in case you're new to this: Getting adequate protein overall (on average, but close to a solid goal every day) is critical for muscle gain. If using protein supplements is necessary for you to do that, use them - at whatever timing works for you.
Depending on your age, spreading the protein through the day may be advantageous (matters more for older people, recent research suggests).
You can get a personalized evidence based protein recommendation here:

Note that the guide mentions that it can be realistic to use something like goal weight for the estimates rather than current weight, if materially overweight.
