Hello I'm Darlene and have been with this group for a while now. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. πŸ’–I wouldn't be where I am today without this group (along with a couple other challenges I am in); I am so thankful for their support and accountability. πŸ’–

    My Goals for January

βš–οΈ Lose 4 pounds (always my goal)
πŸ‘£17k Steps Daily with one day of rest
    πŸ“ Log Daily
πŸ₯— Stay under my calorie range
πŸ’ͺ Strength Train 3 days per week
πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Tai Chi or Yoga 1 day per week
    πŸ’¦ 6+ glasses of water

    Jan 1: 163.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Happy New Year!
Jan 2: 163.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Met my New Year's goal - did a 10K walk yesterday AM. Was ravenous all day, but managed to stay under my calorie limit by 5 calories. I would say a successful day. I'm still .2 pounds away from my lowwest weight (just before Christmas).
Jan 3: 162.8 😁 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Funny thing happened to yesterday. Greg, Monty and I started the Airline Trail today (I am feeling nostalgic so want to do it again, and we started off with a big one day 6.2 miles. When we got back to the car, Greg noticed he didn't have his wallet. Thought he left it on the counter at home. Got home, no wallet, now we think he must have dropped it on the trail as we were walking, so we drove back to the trail at the half way point. Greg went one way - I went the other looking for the wallet, another 3.7 miles and didn't find it. When we got home - Greg remembered he took the truck out yesterday - left it in the center console. LOL! So, my 6.2 walked turned into 9.9, silver linings I guess! Here are some pictures from the walk (the first time).
    Jan 4: 162.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦
Jan 5 : 163.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦ Couldn't sleep, got up, raided the pantry. When I posted last night it triggered me to stop, but a little too late. Today is my rest day. Off to visit my husband's cousin, celebrate Christmas. Will try to get a small walk in this afternoon. Won't be able to weigh everything, but we are bringing lunch with us, so should be able to estimate and log everything.
Jan 6: 162.8 πŸ“ πŸ₯— Spent yesterday at my husband's eldery cousins house -5 hours in a car, and sitting all day with her - so not much movement yesterday. I did log everything, and used estimates for measuring. I jumped on the treadmill when I got home - got 2 miles in - counting it as my rest day.
Jan 7: 162.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Just a quiet day at home - hubby was out all day. Finished the book I was reading, waiting for the winter storm to arrive - it came - not as much as expected. Just enough to make it pretty, and for me to get a little strength exercise today shoveling the driveway, but not enough to kill me. Actually looking forward to it. Probably won't get an outside walk today.
Jan 8: 163.6 β˜ΉοΈπŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ Doesn't make sense, but that is what the scale says today - so that's what I am posting.
Jan 9: 163.6 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦ Had some salty soup (was delicious), so expected the scale to stay the same or go up and it did. Went to Bingo with mom last night - won the door prize ($10). Yahoo. Mom seemed a little down yesterday, hoping all is ok. The arthritis in her hip has been bothering her for years, they give her injections - but the last one didn't really help much. She has her annual appointment with her doctor today - hoping they can figure something out so that she isn't in so much pain everyday.
    Jan 10: 163.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ’¦
    Jan 11: 163.2 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦
Jan 12: 162.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Finally - a drop! Took a beautiful walk on the Airline Trail today. After the snow we had a couple inches of rain; it washed all the snow away - but made for some great waterfalls on the trail; I counted seven.
Jan 13: 162 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦Woo Hoo! Rainy morning here today, so will get my chores done in the AM, and hopefully get my walk in after the rain ends.
Jan 14: 161.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Rainy morning yesterday - cleaned and organized my closet - brought two big bags to Goodwill of things that no longer fit. Moved the one size up clothes to the hall closet. I'm kind of in between sizes - the things I am wearing are a little too big - but can' quite fit into the size down. Soon enough! The afternoon was beautiful - we hit the 60 degree mark in January - so we took an afternoon walk.
Jan 15: 162.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺπŸ’¦ I was over my sodium limit, and it shows. Also used all my calories (usually leave half of my calories earned by exercise). It's temporary.
    Jan 16: 161.6 πŸ˜πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ’¦
    Jan 17: 161.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ πŸ’¦ Daily fluctuations
Jan 18: 161.2 😁 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Bitterly cold yesterday. We did get out for a bit - but only about a mile and a half hike - had to get the rest of my steps in on the treadmill. It's going to be the same today.
Jan 19: 160.6 πŸ˜πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯—πŸ’¦ Just another quiet day at home yesterday. Looking at some vacation homes in FL to get a way from the cold for a week or two - possibly in February. We would have to bring Monty with us this time, his long time babysitter is no longer available and don't want to leave him in a kennel, she stayed at our home while we were away. To find another one that would do that, and that we trust is nearly impossible. Allyson usually takes care of him when we go on weekend trips - but when we go away during the week she is at work all day so need someone to take him out. The dog situation has made traveling a little more difficult. Don't get me wrong - I love taking him with us - it's just a long ride instead of a plane ticket.
Jan 20: 161 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦ Boing Boing Boing "The wonderful thing about tiggers, is tiggers are wonderful things! Their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs!
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun! But the most wonderful thing about tiggers is I'm the only one!" That's how I feel today.
Jan 21: 162.2 ☹️ Did it to myself, it was just one of those days. Missed every goal. I did get outside for a walk, but it was so cold we just went two miles and I didn't hit the treadmill in the afternoon. I went out last night for a fundraising event for the food bank and started with the snacks - then I continued to binged on the snacks after I got home. Salty gets me every time. Today is a new fresh day.
    Jan 22: 161 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ’¦
Jan 23: 161.4 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Greg, Monty and I got to Mile Marker 13 on the Airline Trail yesterday. With the 6 miles (extension) at the beginning of the adventure and it being an in-and-out trail, we have gone that's 19 miles one way. We go in and out so have gone 38 miles on the trail (official number is 38.54). We have about 13-14 miles to go. Hoping to finish by the end of January.
Jan 24: 160.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦ Almost to my low; but it's temporary. Trivia night tonight. For the new people - My husband and I our on a trivia team with my sister and her husband - "To Lame for a Name". My sister and her husband are the brains of the team, and go every week. Greg and I just go for the company and food. Greg and I try to get there every other week, but life has gotten in the way and we haven't been in a LONG time. I'm really looking forward to getting out, but always have an uptick after Trivia night. I'll eat a light breakfast and lunch to make up for dinner out, but the sodium gets me every time.
Jan 25 161.8 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ As expected after a night eating out. We had a great time - came in second. I actually helped with a couple questions this time around!
    Jan 26 162.2 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’ͺ πŸ’¦
Jan 27 162.2 πŸ‘£ πŸ“ πŸ₯— πŸ’¦ Visiting my husband's elderly cousin today - sitting most of the day so won't get in my 17k steps. The scale is still stuck - hoping for some kind of whoosh soon.

But I can try to sneak some in before I meet the school bus at 3:30. It’s just that there are other things I need to do also before he gets here. Wow, I used to love Fridays before I retired. Hello, I’m Heidi. I’m 55, 5’5” and I live in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area.

    My goals for January:

01.02.24 - 166.5 (swelling is going back up)
01.03.24 - 167 (swelling is continuing to go back up)
01.04.24 - 167.5 (calling surgeon to see why I am blowing up like a balloon)
01.05.24 - 167.2 (surgeon says I am okay - here's to hoping it was just water retention!)
    01.06.24 - 166 (much better)
01.07.24 - 165.1 (almost back to my post surgical weight)
01.08.24 - 164.2 (swelling weight gain GONE plus .7 more!!)

    01.28.24
    01.29.24
    01.30.24
    01.31.21

    Exercise:
1 - Started small stretches (arms above head, side twists) which are going well. The pulling on my
incisions was horrible at first but are less so after a week. I also started doing some modified
bridges in the hopes that my healing abdominal muscles would start strengthening up. I am
walking much better and even walked the entire trip to Costco and pushed the cart. The hubby
still won't let me lift much except the small laundry basket!
2 - I'm getting much more walking in this week and slowly building up my stamina after surgery. I'm stretching more and more now as well. I still haven't gotten true exercise in the form of biking or aerobics but that will come soon (I hope).
3 - I can now walk for an hour or so without completely tiring out. I still can't push too much or I am a mess by the end of the day. I can lift @ 35 pounds now!
    4 -
