Yesterday was good, calories in line (1190) and minimal snacking.

This is so demoralizing. I’ve been below 1400 calories for 5 days. Yesterday I had 1329 annd nothing crazy. Obviously I have to go lower to lose, but that’s what got me into this mess, a very restrictive elimination diet during which my daily calories were around 1,000. I’m very discouraged.

I went out for my regular Monday lunch with my friend, but had a salad with grilled chicken and avocado, no dressing, so I behaved myself. Then vegetarian chili (Moosewood fiesta chili) for dinner. Good day.

@SheilaBoneham I totally feel you. Do you have any hormonal issue, PCOS or insulin resistance etc? Maybe you can try to change your macros like lowering carbs. Or maybe it’s just water weight, sometimes it doesn’t make sense but let’s wait and see. Maybe you will the change in a few weeks. I also often stuck in the second and third weeks, so it’s better to continue and wait for the change.
@lolakinks Thanks. No hormonal issues, just a bunch of fat cells that really stick together! I’m trying to cut back on bread and pasta (DH’s mainstay, and he does most of the cooking) and saturated fat, and increase protein. Also increase exercise, although January weather doesn’t help with that. I’m avoiding the gym because Covid and flu are on the rise here, but I may go walk around some big box stores. 😂🏃🏻♂️👟

Aug 14, 2014 @ 157lbs (down 15 from heaviest of 172lbs in 2010), I decided to take control of my health. I lost 30lbs by 1/1/2015. Weight remained @ 128-132lbs through the end of 2020. Five years!
🎢 Roller Coaster Begins….
2020 through 2021, I fluctuated 132-140 lbs.
8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
Dropped to 128lbs again by 9/30 then held 130lbs till 1/1/23.
2023 Back ⬆️ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much! Ive always eaten somewhat healthy BUT portion control is/was a huge issue. Started tracking 7/15. Joined “Just give me 10 days” R231 in beginning of 8/2023. Here we are @ 130 determined to…. be in the

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much space in my brain.
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to maintain approx. 130lbs. Pretty clear that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards. So glad 145lbs was the max over the last nine years.
I also noticed that as I age it becomes much MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could loose 15lbs easy in 8 weeks up to 2020ish … This is absolutely not true anymore!
While active with 🚶♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST routine is absent. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️♀️ as my TRUE focus.

01/08 -179.8- (Trend weight 181.2) I had quite the overnight whoosh. I shed a lot of water most of the day yesterday (for whatever unknown reason) and I finally had TMI (in the middle of the night) last night, all of which graced the scale this morning. It’s encouraging and just goes to show that we must be patient with our bodies and our results. If we keep up our good habits, it will show up on the scale and on the tape measure in due time.
01/09 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW) I woke up to a big disappointment. I got on my scales and they kept flipping from 174.8 to 175.4 which I know is impossible at this time. I haven’t even had TMI so they should be the same or even up slightly from yesterday’s weight. Also, it did not change over and show me the fat %, Water %, and all the other data it usually gives. It just went black after the weight every time I tried it. All the functions worked perfectly yesterday. I didn’t have another set of AAA batteries so I borrowed some from my TV remote and it still would not work properly. I’m afraid it’s time for a new scale. This one only lasted two years at most. Strange that it stays nicely lit but won’t perform. Anyway, I’ll be scouring Amazon for a new one today so I won’t be able to weigh until it comes in. I must stay diligent and not let my brain go into free-for-all mode just because I don’t have to weigh for a few days. Yes, I have common sense, but that could very easily happen anyway so I am going to pre-log all my food as soon as I am done posting on my challenges to help me stay in line. I will also force myself to exercise today as I could possibly get lax on that too, thinking I’m getting away with murder with no scale. It kind of feels like the teacher is absent today and I have a brand new very young substitute. As far as I think I have come in this weight loss journey, boy am I ever weak and boy oh boy, do I EVER have such a long way to go. Sometimes the physical part is easier than the mental part! Have a good day my friends. I am buckled down for our 6 – 10 inches expected snow storm. I went out yesterday for all the fresh stuff – eggs-bread-milk so my son & I are prepared.

This is so demoralizing. I’ve been below 1400 calories for 5 days. Yesterday I had 1329 annd nothing crazy. Obviously I have to go lower to lose, but that’s what got me into this mess, a very restrictive elimination diet during which my daily calories were around 1,000. I’m very discouraged.

@sheliaboneham Pardon if this has been discussed before. Have you ever considered this might be under eating for your body? One of the most controversial advice I ever had to give as a WW receptionist was to instruct a member to eat more. Universally, I got a thank you the next week. Initially, it was scary advice to give, then once I got consistent feedback, it became easy.5 -
@SheilaBoneham, Sheila, all the years I've been on MFP, mostly I keep my advice to myself. We all know what we need to do and we do it in our own time. I can stop eating ANYTHING with no problem, but bread takes a while for me. I love bread. Sugar is sugar. Bread is sugar. Pasta is sugar. You don't eat those things the weight comes off. We all know that too. What helps me give it up is green smoothies made with bitter greens. 18 to 36 ozs daily. You can start with spinach for milder flavor and a small amount of sweet fruit. Then reduce the fruit, use berries increase the greens. Use a variety of greens; kale, arugula, Swiss chard, Beet greens, chicory, spinach, bok choy. You can add flaxseed meal, chia seeds, hemp seeds, avocado for healthy fats. Vegan protein powder or collagen for a protein boost. You can use a nut milk if you like or coconut water. I only use water. The smoothies are filling and aid in gut health. ❤️8

History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse. A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

1/7 – 127.8 I did eat some “extras”, though I tracked them and were reasonable. The calories were also compensated by my walking yesterday morning. My extras evolved after I had my first cocktail in three months (I rarely drink as I prefer food calories over alcohol). Something for me to keep in mind.
1/8 – 128.2 My numbers were good yesterday, so no concern about the up. Walked with the girls in the AM (3 laps), then just a general busy day.
1/9 – 127.8 Yesterday, was an off day, but I did track everything. Even with walking I was over on my calories. But glad I went ahead and tracked and was therefore informed.

1/7 ~ DNW - Traveling. Tomorrow will be a very interesting number on the scale. I ate and drank somewhat freely on Saturday - celebrating my husband's birthday, but I did get my workout in. Sunday was back to normal with lots of water but little exercise. Actually, I will be happy with whatever I see. I enjoyed my weekend and now it's back to the plan and dry January.

@lolakinks~ Remember weight loss is not linear. Even though you are doing everything right, the scale can still creep a bit due to many things! Let see what 1/9 brings🙂
@SheilaBoneham ~ for the reason you described, I've increased my calories and protein. So far, it's working. Just FYI... I know it's frustrating. Going to low will cause you to rebound and eat even more...at least that's my experience. Hang in there! I see this has been mentioned a couple of times...sorry for the repeat but there might be something there....not just eating but keeping macros in line as well.

@tiabirdie56 ~ I just made a similar smoothie today for the first time in long time. I had a bit of fruit, yogurt, spring mix veggies and protein powder (trying to get my protein up) and a little coconut water. It was only about 8 ounces - I may have one again later today...:) I bought this portable blender and unfortunately, it doesn't really work. I was hoping to be able to take it to work with me....

@itladyee, I had one of those portable personal blenders about 16 years ago. It was only good for remixing an already blended smoothie.
Anyhoo. 8ozs of green smoothie is a good start. Sometimes you gotta build up to it first. My 1st couple of days I split my 16oz into 2 servings because I added protein powder. I need more protein too, but right now, I need to get off this bread! So no more protein powder for me until that happens. The greens and berries truly reset my system.
Once I have regained control, 😳 I'll probably go to 28-32ozs, add protein and avocado back in for my 1st meal of the day.

A week ago I signed up for 1 free month an MFP Premium plan. As you know, you are constantly hounded with signing up every time you login. I tried the high protein, but couldn't reach the required macros. I just switched to low carb and I'm closer to reaching my protein macros. Go figure. I don't see the advantage of having a premium account except for being able to switch plans and have your macros set for you. If it's still being offered for one month free it's worth a try to glean what information you can. You can cancel it.4 -

I stayed under my 1450 calorie goal, minimal exercise, and only 48oz water. It is better than yesterday, not as good as tomorrow.

I wish we could get a break in the weather; it’s rain, rain, and wind. My sister in Wyoming had 19 degrees – but it was sunny 😎! I’m not sure which I prefer.
Hopefully, my scale will be here tomorrow. I weighed 4 times this morning and was 224, 227.9, 222.5, and 226.3. I don’t know what to believe. My waistline does feel smaller, but I’m not fitting into the next smaller size, Yet! I measure next weekend, and excitement abounds!

The scale arrived today, but not until late afternoon. I normally work from home but needed to go into the office this morning, so I took the opportunity to use the scale there. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully something closer to 222.0. Other than that, I braved the wind and got my steps in between rainstorms. Yea! It will probably be an early night tonight; I want to put the ice machine on my knee to ease some pain.

Goals This Round - (01/09)
Water 60oz+ each day- Water intake is ↓; If I count the coffee and chicken broth I drank today, I had 49oz of fluids.
Walking 30min 5 times a week - I walked 60 minutes, 2.25 miles.
Strength training 2 days a week - No strength training today.
Eating healthy, high protein & fiber, calorie limit 1450 - Calories are under.

I'm in for another round - will not be able to weigh for the first 8 days as we will be abroad on holiday, but I'll check in everyday.
65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 247 (my 177th). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, as always, so grateful.
Goals for this round to, to stay strong through holiday, log food each day as best I can and try to not gain any weight.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

1/7. DNW - 8.15 miles walked yesterday, a combination of around the airport before the flight and then around the resort after we arrived. I tried to keep sensible, and have tried to over estimate rather than under the meals prepared but by me, so reckon I was 500 calories over yesterday.
1/8 DNW - 10 .35 miles walked yesterday, wore different sandals and ended up with blisters on heels after 8 miles, luckily always carry plasters!! All but 89 calories eaten back.
1/9. DNW - 11.19 miles walked, all but 206 exercise calories eaten back.
1/10 DNW - 16.2 miles walked yesterday, 38,800 steps, 85% exercise calories eaten back.

Hi all, this is my 2nd round in a row. I lost 0.8 kg in the last one I hope I will continue to lose. I aim to lose 1 kg (2.2 lbs) in 10 days. But at the same time I know from my old experiences the second and third week is harder than first one. So even if I don’t lose weight I should continue.

Last week I made 7000+ calorie deficit, exercised twice, increased protein intake and decreased carbs, I weighed most of the food I ate, drank only 1 pint of beer, fasted 16 hours everyday. Still I’m not sure it works. I’m the same as 5 days ago. I need to continue I know but it’s hard stay motivated.
