Having a hard time - needing some motivation

Hi all -
I am not new to My FitnessPal, I’ve been here many times and WW also. I have gained 40 pounds since 2020 and find weight loss to be so hard. I’m going to India next week for 2.5 weeks to be with family and I am worried of what my food choices will be or how I’ll be able to be on my journey. I’m also feeling really sad that I’m going on this trip and haven’t lost any weight; it’s almost like the trip is spoiled for me mentally because I’m not where I want to be. I feel discouraged at times because no matter how much I’ve exercised or tried to be better at my meals, the weight doesn’t come off. Any advice on being on this journey while traveling?

I get feeling stuck, believe me. The first things I did to feel unstuck was getting back to the basics. But first…

What have you been doing most recently to lose weight?

What successes and failures have you had?

Do you have a current plan or routine that you’d like to have during and after weight loss that we should know about?

What is your biggest reason for wanting to lose weight for the long term?

I would suggest you try to enjoy every moment of your trip. Build good memories. Be mindful of how much you eat. If you've been struggling for over three years, another couple weeks are unlikely to make things much worse.

Before you go, start planning some good strategies not only for how to manage your portions when gone, but what you will do IMMEDIATELY upon returning. Clearly there's something that isn't working in your current plan. Three years is enough time to recognize that. Make some changes. Find some goals. Get strategies going to support those goals. Work on those strategies, and then observe if they are successful over a month or two. If they are, keep working on them, and if not, change them. Don't wait another three years, but don't let it ruin your trip!
