Remember that rash I developed when I was in Canada?
It's ba-a-a-a-a-ck!!
<<heavy sigh>>
It's under my chin and crawling down my neck.
I can't think what has set this off. I avoid essential oils like the plague. I don't use creams and things. I don't vary my products much (same hairspray, same laundry detergent, same shampoo, same conditioner, same foods, same vitamins and minerals ...
The only thing I can think of is stress.
It's so incredibly frustrating. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday.10 -
Thank you all for your understanding and kind words about my BIL's passing. It is much appreciated!

Javaplace and others who want to be included in the Weekly Check-in....
Please message your info to me on Sunday or Monday morning. My goal is to post it by noon every Monday - Pacific Standard time or whatever it is these days.
We have to be MFP friends in order to use their messaging system, so send me a friend request and that will get things lined up.
Unfortunately, I often don't read all posts here, but I do check the messages over the weekend, so adding information to a regular post for me to pick up won't work for inclusion in the Monday post I send out.
Please let me know if this isn't confusing enough, lol.

Good morning ladies!
Barbara good luck with the op! I'm with Lanette, I was aware of the MRI but I missed the operation coming up. Warm hugs to you!
Heather I'm sorry you are suffering so much with your pain. I had a little hip pain that woke me up at 3 am; just a taste of what you are going through. It was miserable.
Machka oh no! The rash is back? Hope the doctor can give you some answers.
I see the eye doctor today, so there's a fair chance of new glasses, which will be expensive.
Have a great day my friends! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Today my book says Motivation is a choice. It's 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle. If you choose to do the little things that get you on your way, you will be motivated to finish. For me, turning the music on gets me going. She is right, although I also believe that habits, once established, are very important.
I have more trouble with discipline, with being motivated to avoid actions like emotional eating. But steeping myself in the culture of weight loss helps a lot. And reviewing my reasons why daily. That's why I read these books.

Carol ... just because medical science can keep a body alive, does not mean we should. You and your husband have been faithful in taking care of your BIL. Sadly, sometimes that care includes release. May you find peace in the days ahead. Praying for you, your husband and family.

I have been eating outside of my preferred schedule and have been eating way, way too much. The scale confirms I've been misbehaving. Today, I'll work at keeping within my schedule.
Beth near Buffalo7 -
Beth you can do it!
I did my twenty minutes on my bike and fourteen minutes walking! Yay!
Next is off to the eye doctor, and then fit my meditation in this afternoon.
Annie in Delaware5 -
Evie - Good for you, getting to the gym. You're doing well on getting the minutes going on the elliptical.
Annie - Same for you - pleased to see you using the psychological habits that work for you. What Spangle said about the getting started is something I use. If I get the music going, I will exercise. Just another tool or habit.
Regarding Barbara AHMOD - I'm pretty sure it was a dental surgery that she needed, though I could be wrong. Hope it goes well, with a successful surgery and a painfree recovery.
Machka - I'm so sorry about the rash, so frustrating to have these things pop up that make it hard to pin down their origin and fix the problem...
Beth - Snow? Urk!
Acupuncture at 1:30 this afternoon, yoga and elliptical this morning. The afternoon should be nice. If I'm not too wiped out, I should be able to get a few things done outside after my appointment. Amazon came through and said my top-feed scanner will be in tomorrow, a day early. Hope that happens - which just goes to show you what a geek I really am. So looking forward to getting that in and getting started with this project! I did talk to my daughter and she does want to have the physical scrapbooks, so I will probably ship things to her when I get everything finished. I don't want them in the house once I'm done with them...
Just talked to Corey for his good morning call, and he thinks the drops to shrink the swelling of his eye have helped a lot. Said he didn't realize how much of a headache he had until it started fading away. That tells me he'll keep using the drops and taking the antibiotics, because he seemed to feel better than he has in weeks. So pleased he got seen yesterday.
Off to the races, kids,
Hope it's a grand day where y'all are,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Annie - good luck at the optometrist today. I found out a few years ago that since my sis has glaucoma, Medicare will pay for the exam at least. It's astounding what new frames and lenses cost, tho there are inexpensive options in some areas - I'm not aware of any in mine. I appreciate what you are sharing as you learn about weight loss, I've picked up a few of your tips.
Heather- is your appointment with the consultant next Monday? Any idea when you'll be able to see the ortho doc/surgeon or will that be established then? The sooner the better, right? So sorry about the pain you had last night. We get desperate when it affects our sleep.
Lisa - that's right, I think Barbara was having fun at the dentist today. Have fun with your project. Glad Corey's eye is feeling better already.
Machka - sorry that rash is back. Hope you can determine the cause and get it under control. So frustrating when we think we have conditions nailed and they come back from another angle.
My crazy toes were acting up when I first got out of bed this morning, but the magic beans and a little walking seemed to help a lot. Magic beans = coffee. Rain coming back after several days of high pressure and sunshine, that might be kicking off some pain.
Starting tomatoes:I popped tomato seeds into the germination tray a week ago, most have sprouted and now have true leaves, so I'll be transferring them into 4" pots within the next few days. I discovered after I had the seeds planted, I actually planted them a month earlier than I had intended. Last year I started them mid-April, not March. Duh! Pay attention, Netters! A great little nursery in a neighboring town, which sold fabulous veggie and flower starts for great prices, has closed due to the owner passing away recently. I was planning on a crop failure and using them as a backup, so maybe it's good I got mine going early so I can supply the neighbors.
On with the day.

Barbara prayers for a fast recovery.
Carol prayers for you and your family as you deal with the passing of BIL.
M I occasionally get small rashes that I think are related to COVID. Small patches blisters that itch like crazy. Might be shingles. It tells my immune system needs an extra boost. Your are right stress can be hard on the immune system. Sorry you are having to deal with this.
Still breathing well out of both sides of my nose. I must have had an ongoing sinus infection. It broke last Sunday. I was feeling good before this happened. I feel even better now. I think the stress of the past couple of years and my diet were the culprit. I have been on my new diet for about six weeks now. I do believe it is part of getting my inflammation managed.4 -

Thank you Heather! I have read books on co-dependency, right now on Borderline Personality Disorder, which my DH has but only diagnosed by me, living with an alcoholic husband, using 2 daily readers from ALANON, book on what ALANON is all about (almost done that one), ETC. So reading all I can and I need to change me. I can’t change anyone else. That is up to him (my son too).
Thanks again Heather!

My DH started with a rash like that when I took early retirement. He had it for a year and went to all sorts of doctors. They all said nerves, but he refused to admit it. It didn’t go away until we had sold the house and started traveling in the RV. Now, whenever he gets nervous or stressed about something, it comes back. I suggested he come with me to the therapist and mention it to her. She could get him on some meds to help with that.

Lanette - Thank you for adding the second sentence: "My crazy toes were acting up when I first got out of bed this morning, but the magic beans and a little walking seemed to help a lot. Magic beans = coffee. " I had a vision of you burying your toes in warm beans, and my brain was fast going on tilt!
Heather - I like it! Well done! Now it's time to take that same scene and redo it with the deep colors and layering you can achieve with acrylics... You've already learned to create a depth of field and perspective which is such a struggle for me. No need to be afraid of that sky, either, it turned out well...
Made it through 27 minutes of yoga + all the stretching, leg lifts, etc., added, but the body had other ideas than the elliptical immediately following. We'll see if I can get back to it once the morning pain meds kick in. Need to call about that Stelara request. Think I'll do that now since I'm forced to sit it out for a bit longer anyway.
Later, y'all,
Love,

I ordered three new pairs of glasses: my bifocals, sunglasses for driving, and my computer glasses. It was $850 which isn't a bad price, but is still a chunk of change, especially after $1200 for the car. So I better stay away from Amazon for a bit! I'm just grateful my eyes are healthy.

Hi Gals,
Carol and hubby – what a tough time, sending hugs
April – What a great step forward!!!!
Glasses – so they are so expensive, but 5+ years ago I did a deep dive on figuring out where/what was the cheapest yet good way to go. And I came up with 2 choices, Walmart – here at least has a vision care which is fully staffed with board certified staff, and if you get your exam and on the same day order glasses and have AARP and/or AAA (the auto club) there are discounts for each of those things and they will let you layer them. I got new glasses 2 years ago with bifocals and the exam (with dilation) out the door for just under $250.
Or if you are comfortable with it, get your exam, and then use WarbyParker.com it takes a bit more time as you send frames back and forth and then order glasses but it is by far the cheapest.
Heather – the art work is great- I loved the sky, it really looks like it does here at dawn, so soft.
Machka – Sorry to hear about the rash, but you have been working a lot and working on your “new plan” which might be causing some stress. It is so hard to avoid stress!
Rebecca – glad you are getting calls and photos Eli is a cutie
Barbara – Coastie - take care!!!! So glad Joe is taking good care.
Love ya all,
Kim in N. California

Mixed day, for sure...
😍 Was able, once the meds kicked in, to get on the elliptical for 15 minutes. I'm not breaking any land-speed records, you understand, but I'm moving, and as I think Lanette said once, "motion is lotion." The more I move, the more I CAN move. I try not to get too het up about how fast, just how long I'm moving for right now. The rest will come, as I'm intensely self-competitive and always want to do just a little better.
😐 Girded my metaphorical loins and talked to the VA folks, first the ones who deal with community care and then the pharmacy and tracked down the fact that they have received absolutely nothing from the gastro folks regarding a prescription for Stelara for me. *sigh*
So then I talked to the local gastroenterology office and reminded the receptionist that I wasn't mad at her, I was just trying to figure out how to get this prescription to the right people, approved, and to the VA, since it went up for approval two weeks ago! They've lost their main doc, he moved into private practice, and visiting gastropods are coming in from all over the nation for weeks or months at a stretch, so it's in uproar all the time. Seriously just trying to get a prescription through. *sigh* again.
And, time to jump in the shower and then get a little bit of lunch before I go get acupunctured.
Later, y'all,

Lisa Yay for fifteen minutes on the elliptical! You are making progress. And good job pushing that prescription through! Hope it shows up soon.
I'm going to a tea party in April, and I want to get a little fascinator hat, with feathers and netting and ribbons. Very girly. But I will probably wear it with a sweater and jeans, because I won't know anybody there, so I will be nervous.

When dad was alive- he always planned on starting the greenhouse on Feb.1st and planting the garden May 1st.
It is getting close to the end of March and mom hasn't ordered the potting soil yet- Really needs to get that done. She says she wants to plant the green house this year and found out the Mexican restaurant wants to buy veggies from her again(they stopped for a few years when the brother was managing it-owner is back. Mom is thrilled) This place has been great with my parents- even catering two birthday parties for dad, his memorial service and mom's 80th birthday at no cost any time.
I picked up some potting soil to start my cucumbers in my mini green house trays-have some hydroponic ones I was going to try but the seeds don't fit in the wholes. All my other seeds will so those will get planted today- tomatoes(10 kinds), cat nip, 3 kinds of peppers. Have 4 kinds of cucumbers to start.
Planting extra to share with mom

Lisa--I love the trees.
April--Fantastic news about your son. Prayers he keeps getting better day by day.
Lisa--WOW!! lucky about the tree.
Pip--Very nice.
Heather--I am so glad you are getting some answers and help with your pain.
Annie--I understand about your knee pain. Seems everytime I try and do something to help imporve my getting around I hurt something, (back, hip, knee)
Carol--So sorry to hear about your BIL. Sounds like it was the best thing as he was not going to get better. Sending hugs and prayers for all of you.
Rebecca--What a cutie and such a fun age.
I have been taking it one day at a time as really feeling off. My heart rate is staying down so the meds are working. I go in the 29th for the tests and hope they can figure it out. I have been so tired I can hardy stay a wake at work. Spring weather is coming so hope that helps.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE8 -
Did an incline workout then walked on the treadmill. No exercise tomorrow since I’ll be in the car
Barbara – I, too, missed about the operation.
M – oh no. Were you stressed in Canada?
At least my right eye is no longer hurting, but the left eye is still burning. In one way I can’t wait to go north where this pollen probably isn’t. But I know that it’ll take a while for things to get back to normal
Got my last laying in the sun in and also my last pool. I have a chlorine resistant bathing suit so it really doesn’t matter if I can’t wash it out before we leave
Gotta make this short since we need to pack the laptops. Know that I’m thinking of you all, even if I didn’t respond.
