April Start Weight: 152.5
April Goal Weight:150.0
Ultimate Goal Weight: 140-145?
April 1: 152.5
April 8: 151.2
April 15: 151.8
April 22: 150.7
April 29: 150.1
April 30: 150.1
I'm getting close to goal and so now it's slow but that's fine. I also want to build more muscle and so my weight may actually go up a bit as I exchange some of the body fat for muscle. I'm doing intermittent fasting with Gin Stephens' book "Fast Feast Repeat". She emphasizes the "clean" fast and it's working for me. I don't feel like everything is a struggle and that I'm always thinking about and fixated on every calorie. Gradually my "diet brain" is healing. This is a healthy program for me.
Good luck in May, everyone!2 -
Heaviest weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Original MFP starting weight (January 2018): 168.2
January 1, 2024 Weight: 155.4 (10-day average 155.8)
March 30 (Starting Weight for this challenge): 148.4 (10-day average 149.2)
April goal: Get back to lower end of maintenance weight range
Ultimate goal: Stay in maintenance range between (absolutely 140 - 153 and ideally 142-148)
I report scale weight and (ten day average weight), and I post on Saturdays.
March 30: 148.4 (10-day average 149.2)
April 6: 147.6 (10-day average 149.1)
April 13: 148.2 (10-day average 148.4)
April 20: 147.4 (10-day average 147.2)
April 27: 147.4 (10-day average 146.9)
April 30: 148.0 (10-day average 147.3)
Total loss for April: Almost two pounds. I am ending the month at the upper end of my "ideal" maintenance range, and right near the upper end of my "absolute" maintenance range. I still want to drop just a few more pounds to be deeper into my maintenance range, but even if I don't I am pretty much at a healthy weight. I am down 8.4 pounds for the year.
Stick to it!

04/28βDNW I thought I would be home from out-of-town yesterday in late afternoon but I ended up traveling a little further to see two of my DGC a little further south. I ended up eating out at restaurants for both lunch and dinner. I can feel the swollen fingers and ankles today. We picked up our new glasses and did some shopping. Itβs nice to have clearer vision. Iβm on track so far today and look forward to almost a full week at home before I have to travel again. The past two weeks have found me eating at too many places outside my own home. With less control over my diet, I can really feel the weight that has crept back up. It is more than I can emotionally handle right now so I am avoiding the scale, but I am not avoiding the problem. Things should be settling down more in the upcoming weeks. And my foot issue has continued to improve so exercise is back on the schedule. I should begin to feel some improvements soon and that will lift my spirits. I need to feel okay. BTW, I have no idea why my weight ticker has blown up so incredibly big! I could not easily see a way to make it smaller as I saw no numbers (indication size) to change. Iβll continue to investigate. If anyone has the quick answer I would love if you could share. In the meantime, Iβm sorry to all for the βin your faceβ graphics.

@takinitalloff Right?! I really think keeping such a close tab on what I'm eating has a lot to do with it. Plus, I have a LOT of weight to lose, so that may have something to do with it. I'm not sure what the reason is, but my doctor did say she doesn't want me to lose more than 2 pounds a week. I'm trying, but I may have to up my calories just a bit to slow it down.1 -
Thank you, @enlightenme3 !
I'm Chris - 74 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.

@ATnowornever I honestly wouldn't worry too much about that for the moment -- the guidelines I've seen recommend a weekly loss of no more than 1% of body weight. I think that "no more than 2 lbs a week" number is based on people whose body weight is in the 200-pound range or below. For those of us who started at such a high weight, it's probably more beneficial to shed some weight fast initially, because the extra weight carries so many health risks.
Also, keep in mind that the recommendation is based on average weight loss over time. I look at my monthly weight loss rate to make sure I'm going at about the right pace. But some weeks I'll lose 3-4 lbs and then there's a little plateau, that doesn't mean that the 3-4 lb. week is unhealthy. However, once you get into those lower weight ranges then yes, more than 2 lbs. week after week would be unhealthy. Overly speedy weight loss can lead to issues like gallstones, apparently -- who knew!
(I'm not a doctor so maybe discuss this info with yours, just in case you have specific health concerns that really do warrant a slower rate of weight loss.)2 -
