    @NonnieDoiron I’m so sorry she is going through that. It’s so good that you’re there. A family member absolutely has to be there every day to make sure they aren’t forgotten in an understaffed, busy facility. They need an advocate. It’s a lot on the family, but totally worth it. When my parents were in a facility, I became known as “the daughter”.

    By the time they come to assist your MIL to the bathroom, it will have been too late, and they won’t make the time to drop everything to help her to the ladies room. Hence the diapers. I’m sure she hates that. But atrophy comes very quickly so if she is able to get up and walk with a walker, absolutely have her get up and do that.

    Good day everyone
    Yikes we got bored yesterday afternoon and went out for 2 beers. So odd of me to be like this, twice in one week.
    Oh well
    Wednesday we are leaving for the east coast just cuz we can. We hope to take 7-14 days to explore and be back by the 15th.
    I love when we can travel like this. Not solid destination just exploring. Kinda like a crow and shinny objects. We will gravitate towards them as the whim strikes us! We may or may not make it to where we think we want to go but so what? We will read the road signs and if we see something that peaks our interest we pivot and go that way. Hotel rooms? eh they are everywhere. Cheapest near airports or outside of major cities.

    I know this past week I have put on some weight but the snack monster has been out of the genie bottle lately. Time to rein it in.

    I hope to check in while we are on the road :) If you have any suggestions of places that are must see from.....oh Maryland north, avoiding NYC I will take them. Of course we have to travel through a few states to get there too.

    @NonnieDoiron Thinking of you and your MIL. I don't know you, but I wish I could hug you both

    @Womona Excellent self control!

    @lmlmrn Have a wonderful trip!

    I'm disappointed in myself for caving on some nights, but really proud at the same time. I haven't had this little to drink in a month's span in well over 10 years.

    I'm taking a cruise with my niece at the beginning of May and skipped buying the drink package for the first time ever. I'm sure I will drink, but I feel like having the package makes me try to get my money's worth and drink more. My goal is to not drink during the day and have my first glass of wine with dinner and SIP!

    AF = 20
    A = 8

    @lmlmrn love your spirit of adventure! Exploring the Eastern part of the U.S. sounds lovely…..be safe and enjoy the windshield time!

    @chicbuc honestly, don’t beat yourself! You mentioned you haven’t had this little to drink (LA) in 10 years. Let that sink in!
    I never buy the drink packages on my cruises either…I find it’s for folks who like a drinking marathon or don’t realize the amount they would need to drink everyday in order to break even on the up charge for the package — but no judging here!

    Happy Sunday LA friends:

    Looking forward to wrapping up April…..I am going to end the month of LA slightly better than I did in each of the first three months of the year - January, February and March. Not great but improving!

    Hey Gang....

    Back from our three day get a way. Was WONDERFUL. We truly took this trip as a R-n-R retreat. We both had incredible high end spa treatments. A spiced mud wrap for me. Hubby had a fascial and leg massage we felt like royalty. Our room on the beach was spectacular. Our anniversary dinner was like a work of art. Best eggs benedict I ever sank my teeth into at breakfast. We never left the resort property. LOL.

    But wait for it.......while drinking my virgin pina colada and walking across the Trex decking at the pool, I slipped and crashed down on my left knee which immediately began to swell. This was not the day we were checking out and we still had almost another 21 hours to try and enjoy.

    At home now, leg up. Dr said I am not to go back to work for at least a week. Work is not happy. I DO NOT GIVE A &%*$. They have done me no favors in the past, only grief. This is now my perfect exit moment.

    I have created our new May LESS Alcohol link. Can't wait to see you all there.

    Hey girl...Vermont is a great state to see. Lake Champlain is were would visit from Ohio when I was a kid because my Dad's Brother had a home there. Let me know if your going to see Maine. My hometown there for 40 years was Boothbay Harbor. But there are other spectacular towns in Maine, we vacationed a lot in Ogunquit. There is a wonderful playhouse there we would go to.

    @Womona, thank you. My husband went and spent most of today with her. He threw around the lawyer word, and it got some attention. The Admin Mgr he spoke to said she was “appalled” by the staff’s actions. I guess we’ll see what happens.

    @chicbuc, we both will gladly accept that hug!

    I know I’ve been rather self-absorbed on these posts lately with all the woe-is-me. I’m sorry. I am reading everyone else’s posts, and I’m so happy for all of you and glad you’re sticking with it and/or owning the slides and working to correct. Thanks for continuing to be an inspiration to me.

    On the bright side… we just learned my stepson and his wife are expecting again! We’re very excited for them though they are both in shock since the last grandbaby isn’t even a year old yet and definitely were NOT trying. It’ll be ok. Nonnie and PopPops are here to help! 😁

    Right there with you, bowhunter. Casino got me again last night, BUT, I only had 2 small glasses at dinner and 1 very small one out on the floor, so less than a bottle. That's good for me...lol.

    NOW, I'm going to finish out the month.

    Took a 5 mile hike yesterday at our nearby local state park and logged over 12,000 steps by the end of the day. There were so many wild flowers and lovely creeks running with water! Just what I needed for the day. Then, made a nice welcome home steak dinner for DH. Had some good unplanned white wine - stayed within limits….but I’ll have no issues with ending the month AF. It’s a perfect day to begin all over again, and Monday! Hope to see you on the May thread!

    Final stats for April!
    AF - 13
    A - 8
    LA - 9 (less than 2 glasses and/or low alcohol content)

    Thanks @MissMay for being the strong leader and outstanding example for us on this Less Alcohol thread. So sorry about your accident while on that beautiful and luxurious vacation :(. Maybe it’s a sign and now IS a good time to exit from a job that is not serving you any longer. Sending healing vibes.

    @itladyee I feel you! But you showed up and that’s what matters most.
    I also had an awful (or what felt awful) March and slightly better April.
    See you in May!

    @MissMay So sorry you fell! That can be quite a shock to the system when you fall!
    I hope you will feel better soon. Rest, elevate and take Advil. I hope you are on your feet again soon. Your work will definitely miss you!! This may give you time to look for other prospects. <3

    I have to put my old dog down today. I have not been drinking and will not drink tonight. I will be fully present for the procedure then sit in my feelings of sorrow after. I will not numb them. I will honor her by feeling my love and gratitude for her life, and then the grief, because as you know, grief and love go hand in hand.

    I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this. It’s always so tough even when you know “it’s time”. Sending hugs, and kudos to you for not drowning your sorrows.

    Oh Jen if I could give you a real hug I would. The devotion to your passing pup with you staying AF is so admirable. You need to remember everything about their life. Good, bad and hurting. Sending many healing thoughts and condolences. XO

    @Sunnydays930 ~ this makes me so sad. I had to do the same back in July and it wasn't expected. Sudden onset of diabetes. I am so sorry.

    Oh April, the month that brings us showers for beautiful flowers throughout May.

    I did have a bit of precipitation on some days in April. Thanks goodness no down pours (funny less alcohol play on words) LOL

    Alcohol - 6 days
    No Alcohol - 24 days

    March was dryer by 3 days for me, probably because I planned ahead for some celebration drinks here in April.
    Overall remembering some of my anniversary months before joining this LESS ALCOHOL thread in 2018 had me cringing in shame of my former self.
    This month I even refused a few drinks hubby want to give me. WIN WIN

    So looking forward to stepping over onto our May thread

    Haven’t drank yet today, but I’m going to mark it an A day just because of MIL BS. Not horrible April stats. Only one of those days was a full bottle of wine. The others were 1-2 glasses.
