Had a glass of wine with dinner last night, but resisted the urge to go buy a bottle on the way home.
Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers, and encouragement. I appreciate it. I know this will all be behind is soon enough, and life will go on at a normal clip. Just ready for normalcy. 🥴6 -
@globalhiker adrenaline and endorphins! Way better than alcohol any day. Sending wishes for a quick and speedy recovery your way. Good to see you back.4

I’m going to start some new reading and meditation practices for grounding and improving my emotional responses to really stressful situations. When there are things truly outside of my control, I personally need to keep my anxiety and emotional health top of mind. Excited to revisit this sacred work.
Let’s make it a great day!6 -

Hello everyone
All is well on the home front. Just wanted to give you an update
I am still sticking to my 1x per week alcohol. So in the evenings I drink diet tonic water with a splash of lemon juice in all kinds of glasses. About 3 of them a night
Stay well everyone6 -

@forestdweller1 I have been looking on line and seeing lots of yummy, heart healthy recipes. I found this Mexican quinoa one that even my husband raved about. It has been fun cooking again, instead of eating chicken wings and sliders in bars.
I am finding that one, NA beer in the evening is enough to give me that happy hour feel. Then I switch to seltzer with a splash of something flavored in it, like Pellegrino Essenza flavored waters. Yum! I like the peach clementine.
Send good vibes to me, please. I see the cardiologist today. I am sure my past alcohol use will come up and it will be hard to say out loud how much I used to drink, but you have to be honest with your doctor.8 -

Though I was tempted for an A night, it didn’t happen.
We almost lost MIL today while my husband was visiting her when they were removing her chest tubes. She coded! Fortunately, ”a nurse brigade” and the doctor got her back. Hubby is very traumatized now. No idea if he’ll be able to handle another visit.🙁
Thoughts and prays to you and your family. Your a rock for your husband!!!4 -
@forestdweller1 we have been together a while my friend, and I so get a kick out of your no holds back posts!
Your inventory counting job sounded like a nightmare. Especially counting greeting cards....UGH!!! Love how you gave them the boot. As I have said, I have attempted to leave this job, I have QUIT openly twice and they refused my termination. I am only doing this to "keep busy"
When I applied for this job, I really thought my 3.5 decades of experience owning my own business would help this company and I could get that warm fuzzy feeling of being needed for my years of well established knowledge. (Not what they had in mind)
I am counting the days..........................................................................................................
My best to you and Catpaccino out there in DA'Burg3 -

My past week has been hellish, recovering from surgery and I will spare the details but I derailed my plans and been drinking wine past few nights this weekend. Why my brain doesn't direct me to do something like yoga or massage or nap instead is beyond me, but it's over it's stress limit and it demands wine. For me, my focus this week is to really do something daily that helps reduce my stress because this behavior is not sustainable or healthy. My weight has stayed the same so far, no loss (it's wine or food, if I want to improve, the wine calories must go).
Oh my gosh, take care and super-fast recovery wishes to you so you can be back on your health track lifestyle.3 -
Hi all, what a weekend! We lost power because the mulch delivery dump truck got caught in the electric line above our driveway, and ripped the whole line down, including a piece of the house!!!!! We spent the weekend getting the power company and a local electrician to get us back up to speed.
So, that meant a lot of restaurant meals out, and my weight is up. Did not go over two drinks on Saturday, so that’s good.
Speaking of good, I like the Decoy Featherweight Sauv. Blanc. It was so nice to enjoy a glass of wine and not feel the effects the same way as a regular glass. I like it better than the Kim Crawford Illuminate, but I never loved the Kim Crawford wines anyway. So, if anyone is looking to cut back on wine, I recommend the Decoy!!
Of all things a mulch truck! Having no power is ever fun. Glad it got fixed.2 -

I'm very happy today - got through my mini 4-day challenge AF (on day 5 today), and really wasn't even tempted. As a matter of fact, yesterday my DH called on the way home and said he was stopping at the store, did I want anything. I asked him to pick me up another 6-pack of AF Stella, and he ended up bringing home the regular stuff - said none of the employees knew where there was any AF beer! We went back to the store and I showed DH where they are (for future reference). Then as we were checking out, he told the employee (same guy he spoke to 10 minutes ago) where they're located.
So, very happy I didn't cave and drink the alcoholic version (the six-pack is in the fridge in the garage for possible use sometime in the future), and I'm still am not at all tempted.8 -

Drinking the last 2 glasses from the bottle I bought yesterday. Visited MIL this evening with hubby. She’s doing good, but she was in a bad mood. She is behaving like a 10 year old, and the doctor said it is usual after this procedure for them to act childish for a few weeks afterwards. She better turn it around or she’s grounded!! 🥴10 -
My visit with the cardiologist consisted of him looking at my EKG and him saying he didn't think it was anything but aging. I will be having a stress test but not until the end of June. At first I was thinking, "well this is good news", but now I am wondering if he should have done more. I guess I am paranoid. Anyway he said keep with the no alcohol and cut my caffeine consumption. And eat a heart healthy diet, which I have been doing anyway.10

Good news from the visit. I get the concern though, it often feels as if doctors are just rushing you along to see the next patient. Did he describe a heart healthy diet or have you just been researching on your own?3 -

Glad to hear your MIL is coming along. I guess a bad mood is to be expected from anyone in the hospital, but "a few weeks" seems extreme! I hope she cheers up soon.
You're really crushing it with the moderation - keep up the great attitude!3 -
Got in 12,000 steps yesterday after my morning volunteer work. Then, went to my annual well woman appointment and they took my weight and BP upon arrival. Down 10 lbs from my previous visit in 2023 and BP reading was 117/72. I am positive that LA on a continuum of over 14 months is contributing to my personal health goals. I’m not on any medications (yet) - grateful for good genes. I do LA for better energy, weight loss, and to avoid potential diseases as I get older.
@Womona I tried the Decoy Featherweight 9% alcohol and 80 cals Sav Blanc last night and also like it much better than the Kim Crawford Illuminate. Good LA find!

@tmbg1 your stats are SO inspiring!
@SunnyDays930 my husband had to see a cardiologist some years ago and a treadmill stress test is the next standard test to gauge heart function and blood flow. It can help diagnose arrhythmia, or coronary artery disease but I believe you would have more symptoms if these were present. I suppose it’s best to be cautious and have those things ruled out. Definitely sending positive vibes!5 -
@lmlmrn thinking of you and that diet tonic with lemon sounds delicious. To follow up, I was wondering if your DH’s test with the gastroenterologist turned out alright.
@SparkSpringtime69 great job on staying AF! I also choose AF Stella 0.0 as my preferred non-alcoholic beer. It is so refreshing and tastes like the real deal.
@rocket39 Welcome! Many of us can relate and this LA group exists to support each other!
@xbowhunter glad you survived your bachelor party!4 -
