@zensome why does ADHD do that to our kids? It’s so frustrating.
BTW, I have never been diagnosed OCD, but I do have a very strict way things have to be done including my cleaning routine. My whole family jokes I am OCD. I’m sure I’m not just because I know there is more to it, but I lean into the joke because I don’t see what’s wrong with a clean and organized home. If they want to blame it a psychological condition, fine! But, I’m still going to insist my home be clean and organized! 😉4 -

I'm a big fan of this lady.....Cass from Clutterbug. She has some videos on cleaning and adhd. She also helps determine which bug you are. LOL. It might help people understand why you clean/organize the way you do. Here's a link....https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=clutterbug+adhd about adhd
and below is another link for determining which bug you are....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYtiQhCJ5743 -

Interesting… I took her quiz, and I’m a cricket. I guess I should let my daughter take her quiz too. I have a feeling she’s a butterfly though. I like some of her ideas for organizing, and we did implement some of the ideas already. I can make a few adjustments though that will work better for her based on some of the videos! Thanks for the share!3 -

I think it will. My MIL lives with us and helps me a lot with my daughter. I explained some of the ideas to her, and she liked it a lot. So, we might be onto something. Feeling good about this! 🙂4 -

Cool video on organization. Thanks !! I've just found out that I'm simply a lazy procrastinator . Probably a 5'3" Praying Mantis.
My "on the spectrum" Grandson has always been a neatnik, but only on HIS terms. We do not understand his rules, but they work for him, his girlfriend and their puppy. LOL
Holding off on alcohol until I find out if Grandson has scored his dream job [at 19].Test results arrive April 6th.
Speaking of jobs...wishing @MissMay success in finding employment without "office politics" . Someplace with older folks who have a similar work ethic ?? I was once in a situation where there was a "Queen Bee" who controlled everything. I soon learned to benefit her favorites, ignore her "not favorites" , and pretend to not see her blatant "behind your back disrespect and mockery". 18 months later I was with a company that was perfect for me, but those learned lessons stayed with me.

Going strong. Last night I had a dream we were at a restaurant. I always drink wine when we go anywhere. I was so anxious about ordering because I knew everyone would react, but I ordered a club soda and lime and no one said a word. I have NEVER ordered a club soda in real life...lol

Wow! 3 pages of comments already. I'm struggling to keep up with this motivating group! I'll just apologize in advance if my comments feel a little out of synch or delayed. Really inspiring thoughts to start the month -- thanks to all for who shared thoughts and get well soon to those under the weather. I can identify with a lot of what's here, and seeing it in print advances my self awareness. Sooooo much room for improvement in my alcohol consumption pattern this year.

I'm pretty good at the first but suck at the second. I guess I haven't trained new neural pathways to compensate for the impaired prefrontal cortex after that first glass. Or it's habitual to keep going vs. stopping after 1 or 2. After the first glass, I care less about the goal. IDGAF is real. Here are some common threads:- When I have had success stopping at 1 (and feeling satisfied with that), it's when that is all that was left in the bottle. How sad is that? Or a mixed drink. Those are not as tempting to me.
- When I have had success stopping at 2 (and feeling satisfied), it's when I have a mocktail I really enjoy waiting in the wings. Total agreement with the grapefruit seltzer. It's awesome!

@ahoy_m8 I can't even feel satisfied if that's all that's left in the bottle. I would totally DoorDash another bottle rather than stop at 1-2 glasses. Normally, I'm thinking ahead to make sure I have more than one whole bottle of wine at home before I leave work.
Lately, I drink 3-4 cans of the grapefruit seltzer from my wine glass every night. Shockingly, it really satisfies. Hopefully, it continues to satisfy.7 -
Celebrated DH’s birthday last night. We went to a little Italian restaurant and I had two (large) glasses of red wine with a delightful meal. The wine was happy hour priced and in a huge balloon glass……I imagine they were 8 - 9 oz. pours! I did not need to finish the 2nd one but my DH encouraged me - he doesn’t even drink anymore so I should have just said I’ve had enough. Thankful this was early between 5-7 p.m. but I did wake up at 1:30 a.m. with feelings of overheating and my heart thumping away. I really dislike that! Definitely don’t miss that as I continue on this LA journey. Moving on and will choose an AF night today.

@chicbuc thanks for sharing! Before my Less Alcohol lifestyle, I would totally make sure I had at least a bottle or two at home, but after awhile (for 14 months now) of practicing AF days, I am okay with having nothing in the house until I choose a wine day. Sounds like your doing great with the seltzers too!4

Still don’t have any wine in the house, so won’t be drinking tonight either.
I do also drink dirty martinis and old fashions, but I’m just not in the mood or craving those flavors right now. Wine I can drink any time. It always hits the spot for me.4 -

It's Friday here. That's "date night" for the mister and I, otherwise known as we go to the casino. It's where I failed last week. I had every intention of ordering a club soda with dinner...but didn't. I had the WORST hangover on Saturday, and I don't get hangovers. Low carbing along with abstaining made the wine hit hard. I'm trying to get out of going tonight. I have plans with my daughter in law and grands that I hope lasts long enough to get out of going. I know that's lame, but the mister does not understand my struggle.
Hope all of you have a good weekend filled with whatever keeps you LA or AF!

I hear ya on it hitting hard. I had a shot of brandy with my father-in-law yesterday. Today, BAM!! huge headache this morning. It's just not worth it anymore!9 -

I know avoiding triggering situations is easiest when trying to quit/reduce alcohol. What’s the possibility of asking the mister to help you not order wine tonight and him just to remind you not to? I know if I ask my hubby to help me not to order wine, he’ll ask me if I really want it when I order it. I’ll usually then tell the wait staff scratch it and give me water (only drink water and coffee… can’t drink carbonated beverages and juices tend to make me sick).
Maybe just a gentle reminder would be enough to deter you… maybe not, but it may be worth it to give it a shot so you don’t have to miss date night.7 -
It was another rainy day here yesterday and I had little energy after the balloon sized portions of red wine the night before, and just not worth it. You might know what I mean! Allowed myself to take it easy which meant tidy rooms up and finalize a few get aways for this year. Ended up having the grandkids over for a couple hours in the evening to give the parents a break. It was really nice to have lots of giggles together. I do not drink wine when they are here with us. My stress is finally way down as I’ve made some changes to my commitments and I am working on letting a lot of past worries go. I’ll have one planned wine day this weekend but repeating AF today.

@chicbuc I feel ya, sistah. LA is a process, not just for ourselves but for our playmates as well.
My first LA step was limiting adult beverages to weekends only. At the time, it was a difficult adjustment. I had to leave the kitchen after dinner and hang out in a place where I didn't normally eat or drink, like in our bedroom, to avoid temptation. I'd be propped up reading a book on a weeknight, and DH would come into the bedroom and for real ask, "Do you want to start your weekend early?" Obvs not helpful to my willpower. DH didn't mean to be unhelpful. It was an unintended side effect. He wanted a drink and he didn't want to drink alone. Fast forward several years, and now he is working on LA as well. He does dry months periodically and (I hope) appreciates how unhelpful his temptations were now that he is engaging with his own LA effort.
I have no advice, but I do understand. Hang in there.

Daily wine drinker checking in. Definitely want to cut back and possibly quit if I can't develop a healthy relationship with alcohol. I don't drink to get drunk...even though, I do get drunk. I know this because we have liquor galore, and I don't even think about drinking it when there's no wine in the house (which doesn't happen often). I enjoy drinking wine.
I've had 3 AF days this week, 4 after today, and my goal is to have a dry April.
I stocked up on grapefruit LaCroix to sip from my wine glass in the evenings and it seems to satisfy the nightly habit I've created. Fingers crossed!!
Thanks for the idea of the LaCroix in a wine glass.3 -
