heading out for brunch. Sound familiar? Yes, it was with @tarun_yadavA ! We were able to meet up in Hot Springs NC for a late breakfast/early lunch. That makes it brunch, just not the fancy kind, right?
I think this is the greatest thing I've ever read on MFP.
You two are important. This means a lot.8 -
That is so awesome @quilteryoyo and @tarun_yadavA y'all got to meet IRL!!! I know a good time was had by all (even if it was brunch) 😄
@ContraryMaryMary wow, that's scary! Glad you and everyone was OK.
Got in 7.5 miles this evening. Pretty decent run. Temp was a nice 63F, but 22mph NW wind made it challenging at times (going North and West) 😁
4 -
ALL ... I RECOMMEND WHERE/IF WE CAN... We should all endeavour to meet up where possible.
@quilteryoyo loved every second of this morning! Best Bloody Mary-less Brunch ever 😊❤️😊❤️

That is scary @ContraryMaryMary . I'm glad everyone was okay.
Awww. Thanks @chris_in_cal .
Hahaha @Scott6255 . Great running. The wind can make it so hard.
I thought so too @tarun_yadavA !
I did get to play tennis tonight! Yeah. It was fun. Lost one and won one. The one lost was done so in a tie break. So, it was fun and close games.4 -
April Goal: 130 Miles
4/1: 3.34 miles
4/2: 6.26 miles
9.6/130 miles completed for April
It was cooler this morning at 56°F. It should have been perfect running weather, but there were 21 mph winds from the NW. So it was kind of chilly and tough to run in. I did get 6.25 miles, but they were slow.
@tarun_yadavA and @quilteryoyo How fun that you got to meet up in real life.
@contrarymarymary That is so scary. I'm glad no one was hurt.

@tarun_yadavA and @quilteryoyo - Awesome that you were able to meet up! The candy looks delicious.
@tarun_yadavA - There are actually several breweries nearby here. We have only been to a handful of them as we aren't huge beer drinkers and tend more towards wines (no wineries nearby though). You can check the breweries out here https://www.orangecountyinsiders.com/blog/anaheim/breweries
I used to run along the river shown in the little La Palma Beer Trail map, under the Riverside Fwy and down to Lakeview.
I hope you don't have any issues with your trip and the storms coming that way. Be safe!!
I got out for an afternoon walk with Hobbes and it had really warmed up to around 75F. It is supposed to be in the 50's again by Thursday/Friday with more rain coming in.
Please everyone if you are in the path of the storms, stay safe!
Finally - not running related but here is a video I took at agility class with Hobbes last night. I ran him the 1st 2 runs, then handed him off to my friend who ran him the last 2 runs.5 -
Awesome that you @quilteryoyo and @tarun_yadavA got to meet up!!
Great photos!!
Waiting to see if we’ll get a chance to meet up today, or tomorrow. Fingers crossed.6 -
Haha... When Tarun meets up with me we are going for a RUN or WUN or something like that. Probably not this year but I know Austin will be in his travel sights (sites) one day.
What is an UTE? At first I thought animal. Then maybe parked vehicle. I refuse to google it tho. LOL.
Happy APril everyone. I haven't decided on my goal yet. Maybe I will just record and see where it goes.
Got 7 in yesterday morning and the weather was exactly perfect. It is also looking like it might NOT be cloudy and rainy for the eclipse next Monday. Getting a little excited.4 -
Hi everyone! I did an easy recovery 4.5km today on the treadmill because I didn’t want to get wet and muddy for such a short run. I’m so looking forward to my last long run tomorrow, although the weather forecast has been suggesting I will probably get drenched.
@tarun_yadavA and @quilteryoyo That is so cool that you met and had @tarun_yadavA ‘s favourite meal! What a special occasion. Im happy you could make it happen!!!
@ContraryMaryMary I‘m glad the car didn’t hit you! I hope the road becomes “sun” safer soon. Back when I was in high school, a fellow high school cross country friend/teammate of mine got hit and killed while running in a similar situation around sunset. The driver just couldn’t see. Please be careful out on the road!4 -
I mistakenly posted my first April run in the March thread

@tarun_yadavA and @quilteryoyo That is so very cool and thanks for the great photos.
@shanaber Loved seeing Hobbes running.
It has been raining day here and may or not run later. I could run at the field house but probably will just sit and stare out the window. It seems like that kind of day.
4/1 - 2.14 Miles. Lakefront Park, 36F, Mostly Cloudy. 7:10 am.
4/1 - 1.35 Miles. Up the Hill. 48F Sunny. 12:26 pm.
4/2 - 1.19 MIles. Neighborhood. 40F, Cloudy.
6 -
@kgirlhart Nice running - that wind makes it so much more difficult though.
@shanaber Glad you were able to get in a walk and run with Hobbes. He did great on the agility course! Looks like so much fun.
I hope you can @daria0919 .
hahaha @SummerSkier . I'm sure you could have a fun run with @tarun_yadavA . You are speedy enough. I'm no where close. Great run and I hope the skies are clear for you Monday. We're supposed to be in the 80% coverage area, but I think it is going to be cloudy and I can't seem to find any viewing sunglasses anywhere. I hope you have yours ready.
Nice recovery run @Laurz9191 . I hope the weather breaks for your long run tomorrow.
I hear ya @emptydog . Sometimes rainy days just get you down.

April 1 - Walked 2.25 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Gym 17 min
April 2 - Walked 2.25 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Doubles tennis
April 3 - Walked 1.50 miles - Ran 1.50 miles - Gym 36 min
7.50/65 mile goal
Forced my self to get out of bed early, when I could hear it pouring rain, so I could get to the gym before it closed for the morning. (Small gym. Hours are 5:30 -10 am and 4- 8 pm. ) It did stop raining before I had to get out. Workout today was stair master, row machine, ski machine, pull downs, leg lifts, planks, and dead lifts (50 and 60 pounds).
When I got home I went down for a run on the treadmill. My thighs are a little sore, so didn't want to overdo, so I walked 1.5 miles and did a fast wun for1.5 miles...3/2 min at 4.5-4.7/4.0 mph, then 2/1/1:16 min at 4.8/4.0/5.0 mph. Avg pace was 13:32 min/mile. Avg HR was 124 with a max of 143 bpm.6 -
03/04 3.55 miles
3.55/50 miles
I’m back for another 50 miles. I didn’t have the energy to anything for the last 4 days but made myself get out there this evening. I did make my running target last month but missed the bike by 28 miles. The cold seemed to have moved to my chest on Saturday but is easing again.
@AlphaHowls. I’m sorry to hear about ur diagnosis & hope you are able to get some sort of solution.
@quilteryoyo. Ur on fire are the gym. Glad ur enjoying it! Great pictures or you & @tarun_yadavA
Welcome to our new members too!5 -
@SummerSkier, a ute is a ‘utility vehicle’, you’d call it a pickup.5
-
It was pouring rain when my alarm went off this morning so no run for me. Hate I missed brunch with @tarun_yadavA and @quilteryoyo. I didn't know there would be English sweets to try! Love the pictures!
@shanaber - I needed a Hobbes sighting! He did good with the agility run but I bet he missed you directing him. Soon you will be out there for all the runs!4 -
Another 8km loop for me today. Took things easy and my watch consequently told me I was ‘recovering’. I’m happy with that - I feel I have given my body a fair bashing in the past week.7
-
6.2 miles this evening. Faster pace today, but it is really getting warm out there. Might have to stay inside tomorrow (or god forbid wake my butt up and go in the AM).
8 -
Thanks @Mari33a ! You did great getting out and doing what you could. I hope you continue to feel better and better every day.
@Teresa502 .
Great easy run @ContraryMaryMary . Glad you're in recovery mode.
Great run @Scott6255 . about getting up early. That is so hard for some of us and others it seems to be second nature.5 -
April Goal: 130 Miles
4/1: 3.34 miles
4/2: 6.26 miles
4/3: 6.02 miles
15.62/130 miles completed for April
It was a chilly 43°F this morning, but the wind wasn't as bad as yesterday. I ran 6 miles. I had a doctor appointment so I was able to sleep in a little. It was dark when I headed out, but it was light when I finished.
Thanks for sharing the video @shanaber.

Hi everyone!
I just got finished with a 10 miler at what hopefully will be my race pace. It went well and only rained lightly. It was hard to adjust my pace with the wind which, as usual, was quite strong especially on the second half of the run after my turn around point. So if it is windy and rainy on race day, I suppose I will be really prepared at this point due to our wonderful weather here these past months. If it is nice and sunny, I might have a problem . I do want to get a better feel for race pace without looking at my watch, so I will probably do a few sorter race pace segments before next Sunday.
Hope you all have a nice running/walking/etc day!
37.1/200km for April.8 -
Morning all
Sorry - been a bit MIA of late.
Thanks for all the kind words !
@Teresa502 woulda loved to have met you as well...
RE: chocolate. @quilteryoyo likes coconut chocolate and raisin chocolate. Very niche! Lol.
Hopefully next time.
@SummerSkier I will visit Austin again! And yes, we will definitely run together! (Guessing you're not a 6th Bar hopper lol).
@ContraryMaryMary glad you didn't get hit!
@Laurz9191 well done on the running at race pace! 🙌🏽
@chris_in_cal a run together in the AM, followed by guys night in the PM! Gladly be wingman!
Looking forward to stopping off in VA and saying hello to @daria0919 for coffee, to break up drive and fill up gas.
So I shall tie @quilteryoyo for most face-to-face meet ups with 2! Lol.
In Bethesda tonight. Will go for a long(er) run tomorrow along Capital Crescent Trail.
Have a nice day all. Got a 8+ HR drive!
9 -
@tarun_yadavA wonder if you will go past the Potomac. I used to bike from Mt Vernon thru Old Town Alexandria into DC almost daily when I lived close to the trail. It might be a good adventure for your son and you/4
-
@kgirlhart I'm glad you had a nice run and was able to sleep in a bit. I hope the doctor's appointment goes well.
Nice run @Laurz9191 . You are prepared for that race, regardless of the weather.
Enjoy your meet up with @daria0919 @tarun_yadavA . Drive safely.2 -
April 1 – 3.31
April 2 – 5.10
April 4 – 6.15
14.56/90 Mile Goal
It was a little chilly this morning with the temperature at 39F but a 9 mph wind blowing. It was spitting snow when I left my house but where we ran we only experienced a few rain drops.
Hope you have a wonderful coffee break @tarun_yadavA with @daria0919!
@Scott6255 – I had to laugh at your getting up early comment. Since I didn’t run yesterday morning due to the torrential downpour, I took clothes to work with me thinking the weather would be better later in the day. Well, it was, but I just couldn’t find the motivation to run after work. I guess we all have our preferences for that optimal run time.

4/1 15.53 miles, 2163 days on the run, Running Partner A for 8 miles
4/2 13.66 miles, cloudy, breezy, sprinkles, storms on the way
4/3 13.38 miles
4/4 15.15 miles, Running Partner A for 8 miles
I am here. I blinked and life took a left turn.
Mom tore the skin off of her arm, so it's been increasing anxiety since Tuesday. I actually have canceled two days of work just to slow things down.

6 beautiful trail miles today, my last run before the race. Today I ran on the same trail system where the race is held, but not the same trails.
The weather forecast for the race is near perfect...lows of 37F and high of 73F with no rain and light wind.
We had to bail out of our camping and fishing trip. The first day we got in just 4 hours of fishing before the wind blew us off the lake. We went back to the campsite to relax and drink beer. Later that afternoon the campground host came by to let us know that a storm would be coming through overnight with lightning, wind gusts to 50mph, and possible hail and rain. Between that storm and the high wind forecast for our entire planned camping/fishing trip, we decided to pack up and go to my brother's house.
Yesterday we went to the gun range my brother works at and had a blast shooting shotguns, rifles and pistols. I shot 2 different shotguns, 4 rifles and two pistols.
Today we're going out to a local barbecue place for lunch. Not sure what else. Friday we're going to the race start to set up "base camp" at the start/finish/aid station. I'll have a pop up canopy, chairs, tables, all my extra gear, fuel, hydration, first aid, clothes, etc.
I see lots of great, fun things going on with all you guys, keep it up!
They saw me coming...look at the post9 -
All the very best for tomorrow @7lenny7 - run well!
I’m up and dressed for a run but I’m feeling overwhelmed with all I have to do today - it’s my daughter‘s birthday, and I have to make a cake between interviews for work and taking her to diving at 1 o’clock, immediate after a doctors appointment for me. Then I have to take her and her classmates from the pool back to school and then take her and a friend to dance. Race home and collect the youngest child from the friends house and take her to her dance lesson and somehow putting in a bit more work. It all begins just as soon as I have dropped the smallest at school in about 15 minutes. I might just do a sneaky two or three k’s as I know it’ll make me feel better9 -
Hope you have a great race tomorrow @7lenny7!
Ooof, @ContraryMaryMary I am tired just thinking about all those activities! Hope you can grab some 'me' time in there somewhere.
Mid 80s today, so did 5 TM miles.

Well, unfortunately I wasn’t able to meet up with @tarun_yadavA this afternoon. I am seriously, seriously bummed!!
One of my younger sisters showed up after I finished work today for a visit, along with two of her grandchildren who are on spring break. I tried to convince her to come with me to meet Tarun and his son, but she was tired of driving and wasn’t willing to go. I told her they were in the states traveling from the London and it was the rare chance for me to meet him, but she wasn’t moved. Love my sister, but….
Was so looking forward to the visit…..
Have had a very sore right toe, so have had to take a break from my training. I kept trying to keep at it, but was only making the toe worse. Had to get a different pair of running shoes. Will probably run my 10K in old my old shoes.6
