Good luck @7lenny7!! Can't wait to read your race report. Conditions sound perfect!!
Love seeing the in person meetups @tarun_yadava @quilteryoyo. And of course the classic Tarun thumbs up pose!
Sorry to hear about the life curve balls @AlphaHowls. I hope your mom feels better soon.5 -
April total: 8.7 miles
YTD: 281.5/1200 miles
4/2: 5.7 miles
4/3: 3 miles
Logging 2 to get caught up. Nothing too eventful for either of these runs. I am working early a couple days this week so not too many run days. Like @Teresa502 I struggle to find motivation to run after work. Unless I'm training I don't usually force it.
I am headed back to the hill country this weekend for the eclipse. We have some people coming out for a little viewing party. I'll get some miles in out there over the long weekend.8 -
I'm glad the weather wasn't horrible for your run @Teresa502 . I think it has felt really cold all day. The thermometer said 46F (7.8C), but it was a COLD 46F.
Hugs @AlphaHowls . It is so hard when people's skin gets so thin that it doesn't take anything to cause a huge sore. I hope you can get it well quickly and I'm glad that you took some time off work to try to destress a bit. Love the sky in that picture.
@7lenny7 Great running today. Looks like a great trail. Hahaha about the sign. So sorry that you had to cut the fishing/camping trip short, but it sounds like that was the right call. Camping in a storm is no fun. I speak from experience. The gun range sounds like a fun substitute. Sounds like you have everything ready for your race on Saturday. Enjoy.
That's a very busy, hectic day @ContraryMaryMary . Happy Birthday to your daughter. We'll need cake porn!
@daria0919 So sorry that you weren't able to meet up with @Tarun_yadavA . Also sorry about your toe.
Good call to lay off running for a few days if that is making it worse. I hope new shoes help.
@martaindale Enjoy the eclipse and your time in the hill country. I hope the weather is good.4 -

Nothing real exciting today. I did a 2 mile treadmill walk this morning. I had some errands to run and a training on "safe sleep" for babies (required for day care workers) this afternoon/evening, so I went to the gym again. I'm aiming for at least 3 times a week. Today, the only thing new they had me do was leg extensions.6 -

Another 6 miles today. It was chilly this morning, but warmed up quite a bit this afternoon. It was an uneventful, but nice run.
Good luck this weekend @7lenny7
@daria0919 I'm sorry you didn't get to meet up with @tarun_yadavA .

Good looking cake @ContraryMaryMary . What is the flavor. Kids grow up way too fast.1 -

Good luck this weekend @7lenny7! Hope there are no hallucinations in the middle of the night!

Thanks all! We set up my base camp today, picked up my bib and swag and went to the grocery store for last minute supplies. Now I'm going through my gear, fuel and hydration one last time.
We were the third group to arrive for set up so we got a great spot directly next to the the course. That's my brother in the chair. I left the cover on the canopy loose in case it gets windy overnight.
The swag includes a backpack, hat and shirt. When I finish I get a medal and belt buckle.11 -
Looks like a fabulous spot @7lenny7. Have a great day tomorrow
Stick with it @yirara, Iβm glad thereβs no pain and am hoping your running mojo returns soon.
Enjoy your time in the hills @martaindale!
I survived my manic day yesterday and actually managed two get two features written while loitering at diving and dancing so am ahead of the game work wise. Iβm currently waiting for the rain to stop so I can finish my lawn work and tick that big job off too.
But in more exciting news this morning, I won parkrun today!!! Ok, ok, first female, not first overall (8th overall and was beaten by a ginger kid who was all of 11 or 12 - but had him worried enough to have him spend most of the run looking over his shoulder). Small field too (just 34), which helps, but I'm still ridiculously happy with myself and this was one of my Parkrun goals. Still a good minute slower than where I want to be, but heading in the right direction.11 -
Hello everyone!
Got in 10M this morning (at 08'53).
@daria0919 no worries! It's ok!
@ContraryMaryMary LOL @ 11 year old Ginger! Well done on 1st!
Hope interview went well
@7lenny7 hope run goes well today! Gun firing sounds fun!5 -
@yirara Sorry you are having a hard time right now. Glad your thigh isn't hurting at least.
Nice swag @7lenny7 ! It's great that you got a prime spot for your support tent. Good luck with the race.
Big congratulations @ContraryMaryMary ! That's awesome. You'll pass that kid next time.
Great running @tarun_yadavA ! Are you going to be able to stay through Monday and see the eclipse?2 -

Did a treadmill session this morning. It was just too cold and miserable outside for me...around 45F (7.2C), cloudy, and windy. It shouldn't have felt that cold. I guess after having some really warm days it's just a shock to the body. I did a run/walk of 0.3/0.1miles at 4.5-5.0,4.5,5.0/4.0 mph. Avg pace was 13:14 min/mile. Avg HR was 136 with a max of 153 bpm.

I met a 71 year old guy setting up next to us today. He's going for his first 100 mile finish. It's his 3rd attempt. He's my hero. His wife, 67,is running the 10 miles. She's awesome too.9
-
Way to go, @ContraryMaryMary ! That's awesome!2
-
@7lenny7 all the best tomorrow!!
@Teresa502 my 10K is in two weeks. Sunday we run 6.2 miles as part of the training. Test run for the race. Iβm going to stick with my old running shoes through race day. Will break in a new pair after that.
Way to go @ContraryMaryMary!
Nice getting 10 in today @tarun_yadavA!7 -
AWESOME accomplishment on your parkrun 1st place finish @ContraryMaryMary πππ
Nice camping spot @7lenny7 Hope you are feeling good today!
Cloudy windy run this morning. Got in 10 miles. Felt good in the beginning and the end, but the middle was a struggle for some reason.

@quilteryoyo hello! Thank you!
No, unfortunately not! Fly back tomorrow. Land Monday 6am ish; logging into work for 9.30! π
But... It's been a great 10 day trip! π10 -
Morning all.
Got in 4.44 (at 10'03).
Yesterday was a heavy drinking session with cousins in NJ. Real struggle Bus this morning!
Unlike Cinnamon swirl cheesecake as a pre-Run carb-up... Do not recommend beer, whisky and spicy Indian food!
Lol
Have a great weekend all.
@7lenny7 all the best! 71yr old sounds awesome10 -
April total: 16.7 miles
YTD: 289.5/1200 miles
4/2: 5.7 miles
4/3: 3 miles
4/6: 8 miles
Cloudy, breezy and not too hot this morning. Even got a little mist. By some people's standards that's pretty crappy but I love to run in that kind of crappy weather. The wildflowers are holding on, which gives some pretty views.
The weather for the eclipse is looking a little shaky right now. We have dense cloud cover today and tomorrow. Right now it sounds like we might get a little break Monday morning but idk if it will hold up long enough. There's more storms coming through that evening. Hopefully the clouds cooperate and give us some breaks. We have almost 3 minutes of totality so a decent window for a partly cloudy day. π€7 -
@7lenny7 is on the course. Good luck today!!5
-
Half way! 50 miles in 12.5 hours. I'm over 2 hours ahead of last year's pace. Slowing down but feeling strong, and spirits are high12
-
@7lenny7 Hope you are doing well with the race and all the best to the 71 yo and his wife. They are amazing to even try! Just saw your update! AMAZING! Can't wait to see how you get along for the next half!
@Scott6255 Glad you had a decent run. At least it wasn't a struggle the entire way and ended on a good note.
Awww, that's too bad @tarun_yadavA . Glad you have enjoyed your trip and have a great flight home. I applaud you for getting out the next day after heavy beer nights....and spicy foods.
@martaindale Nice run. I hope the weather gives you a view of the eclipse. We're supposed to be in the 80% zone, but also partly cloudy. I have been unable to find viewing glasses, so I guess it isn't going to matter to me either way.

15.50/65 mile goal
Knowing what else I was doing today, I did a 2 mile treadmill walk fairly early this morning.
I played league tennis this afternoon. My partner, who I had never met before, lost. We played okay together and should have won, but we fell apart in the second set for some reason we couldn't figure out. We lost the first one 6-7 (5-7 in a tie break). Then we lost the second one 1-6! At least we enjoyed playing together and she was very nice.
I stopped at mom's on the way home and wound up mowing her yard, but not the barnyard, which needs it too. I did all I could with the riding mower and then push mowed the trim work. I didn't have time to weed eat, but I was able to get most of it with the mower. It's supposed to rain a lot next week, so I'm glad I got at least that much done today.7 -

I did a run with my girls and a friend today as a fundraiser for sports equipment for the little girls' school. We got off to a great start but after about 3km Miss 10 started complaining of sore feet - said her arches were hurting, and Miss 12 was forced to walk thanks to sore knees. The knee complaint was legit - she's been seeing a physio since getting a dance-related sprain (I think she's just growing to be honest as it is now affecting both knees), but the feet - little madam managed to do a sprint finish to beat me even though I'd been dragging her for 2.5k! The friend, who had no complaints at all, tottled off on her own and beat us all.
If I were to do it again, I'd run my own race and circle back to collect the stragglers. Oh well. Next time.
Nice day for it though, although it was chaotic with 4000 runners and about 2000 of them under the age of 10 (none of which could run at a steady pace or in a straight line). But we had ice cream at the finish so everyone was happy in the end. The complaints about the feet vanished pretty much instantly once we were done. More training required methinks!

Great running and picture @AlphaHowls !
Love that race report @ContraryMaryMary ! Made me giggle a little. Circling back for the stragglers is a great idea, as is more training. You are all so cute!2 -
Great running @7lenny7! Hope it continues today πͺ
@ContraryMaryMary oh, sorry for your girls feeling pain, but from your Strava I thought you were in pain. With all those kids running I'm sure it was like herding cats π. Good plan for next year. Y'all are very cute!6
