    Thoughts:

    Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl up. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I can make, no matter how big or small. I am also grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.



    Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    Day 51-05/30-183.0-(Trend weight 185.9) Another nice drop today which I feel is some true progress of fat loss, not just water loss like yesterday. Now we are getting somewhere! I’m still feeling confident strong and in control of my emotions and that goes a long way…..

    Day 52-05/31-181.8-(Trend weight 185.5) I usually don’t weigh on Fridays but I went to bed early putting at least 6 hours between last food of the night and weigh-in for the morning so I stepped on it. Pleased with the progress. Gotta stay strong. I am just thankful that May ended better than I thought it would. I am currently babysitting DGS as usual, but this week he has strep throat and pink-eye. Pink eye is going around the elementary side of the school (again). Oh Joy!

    My goal is to be proud of my weight loss.

    Day 01 80.1 kg, I did my planned exercise but I overate a little bit (I'm tracking my intake), since I started tracking I've eaten out 4 times and I need to compensate for those times. I read "most people who lose weight will regain it within 5 years", I checked my old numbers and I'm 3.5 kg under what I weighed 5 years ago. I guess I'm in that category. I talked to my partner about my weight loss (something I'm trying to do less often).
    Day 02 80.0 kg, I ate below my ideal which should help me recover from previous overeating. I did my exercise sessions.
    Day 03 80.1 kg my eating is on track for the last 3 days but I need to recover from the previous 9 which averaged too high. I exercised and that's on track too. Disappointed that the scale is headed in the wrong direction but...
    Day 04 79.4 kg a big loss today. I did a lot of walking, I had sugary food for the first time in 8 days. I overate. Recently there have been 6 days when I overate a lot, I had sugary food 5 times. Coincidence?
    Day 05 79.8 kg just a normal day where I am good, no overeating and exercising is as required
    Day 06 80.4 kg I started two personal challenges, I had some sugary food because I won't be having sugary food for a while, so on Tuesday I gained...
    Day 07 80.6 kg my eating and exercise went well, still need to recover from the overeating episodes, maybe in 2-3 days that will happen
    Day 08 80.4 kg I had some treats and food I don't usually have, that's a negative, on the plus side I'm still exercising as I intended
    Day 09 80.3 kg I have a cold so I only managed half my exercise today, that's fine, eating was good.
    Day 10 80.2 kg another day when I ate properly, two days in a row, plus two exercise sessions.
    Day 11 79.7 kg a good day in terms of exercise and eating
    Day 12 78.7 kg I don't see a 1 kg loss very often, anyway I overate again, although my exercise was as planned
    Day 13 79.3 kg Another good day, exercise and diet were good. I've decided to attempt to lose 10 kg in 100 days - so this will move over to the next round. Starting tomorrow.
    Day 14 79.4 kg I ran the numbers to see whether I could lose 10 kg in 100 days and it seems iffy, however I'm not particularly hungry as I lose weight, so I guess I should just eat less. I overate and did my required amount of exercise. I looked at my intake graph and since day 1 there's been 7 days when I've overeaten.
    Day 15 79.7 kg I ate a bit too much and my exercise was less than required. 10 kg in 100 days: 10.3 kg to lose in 99 days. Can I do it? Probably.
    Day 16 79.6 kg I ate too much but my exercise was alright. I've decided to delay the 10 kg in 100 days idea until my weight loss 'settles down'
    Day 17 79.5 kg ate too much and didn't exercise at my desired level
    Day 18 80.4 kg whoa how did that happen? Maybe eating too much?
    Day 19 79.7 kg ate too much, exercise average is okay

    Back for Round 3 for me! Hi, I’m Jenny – 59 years old, 5’6”, and reached my goal of 175 pounds during the last challenge. I’d like to give myself a little buffer so that even if I have a little gain on vacation I won’t go above 175 ever again! So am looking to whittle down another 5-8 pounds.

    Day 01-04/10: 172.6 - Nice to see a drop already! I’ve been feeling a little hungrier than usual the past couple of days so I feel like my body is trying to nudge me back up. I ain’t goin’, so give it up bod! I am in charge!! Have been diligent with workouts the past few days too, so feeling good all-around!

    Day 02-04/11: DNW – super stressful day at work, started at 5am and never stopped…no workout 

    Day 03-04/12: 171.0 – Ok I have a feeling there will be a correction next week, but I’ll take it!! It’s just so exciting to see numbers on the scale I haven’t seen in literally a decade! There’s a wedding we’re going to in August where the bride has requested everyone wear “sea glass colors” so I’ve been on the hunt for a dress and shoes – and I’m just so busy I usually try to order a few things online from a store I can return them to near me (so I’m not stuck with return shipping charges) , and the same with shoes…I can’t tell you how exciting it is to have dresses show up, try them on and they not only fit well but look fantastic !! Or if they don’t, it’s just because the style or color doesn’t suit me, not because I can’t zip the damn thing up. I used to call it feeling “struttable”, a made-up word I haven’t used in a VERY long time – but a pair of shoes showed up yesterday and I was strutting around feeling pretty hot for an old broad!! I hope nobody minds but I end my weigh-in weeks on Fridays, so will adjust my weekly dates. I’m just so damn happy and proud of myself!

    Day 08-04/17: 171.2 – Started a new job on Monday so have been a little stressed, but I’m feeling more settled now so was able to do a longer workout & stretch today which felt AMAZING. I love the alternating cardio/strength workouts, they are my absolute favorite! I have settled on a pair of shoes for the wedding we’re going to in August, and am kind of psyched because it’s a much higher heel than I normally wear but it’s the Naturalizer brand – so it’s stealthily comfortable! The arch support hits me just right which is imperative for my plantar fasciitis. My husband will be less thrilled because I’ll be taller than him, but that’s the price he pays for being with a hottie, ha ha!

    Day 09-04/18: 171.2- It’s so rare for me to weigh exactly the same two days in a row – but it’s all good. Got up extra early to get a jump on work stuff, but just did a quick 20 min BG tabata cardio & 15 min yoga stretch.

    Day 10-04/19: 169.8 – Holy smokes, it is exciting to see a new decade on the scale! Though I’m traveling next week so I’m sure it will be short-lived, but it’s nice to have that extra buffer! Did a good cardio/weight workout & stretch – happy for Friday!!

    Day 23-05/02: 170.6- I’ve been MIA for a bit – I traveled last week to throw my father and his wife a 50th wedding anniversary party, and had to deal with family drama (of course) – so I was totally off-course last Thurs through Sunday – got right back on track this past Monday, but am dealing with the stress of this new job plus construction going on in our bathroom, where we had to rip out the floor that the last contractor laid tile on without leveling, resulting in cracked tiles and a wonky vanity – so trucking two flights down to the basement to use the bathroom is a pain in the neck, especially since I’m up multiple times in the night, ugh. I was determined to get back into my workout schedule but only have had time for shortie workouts until today…doing a full 30 minutes of weights and cardio plus a 15 min stretch felt really good. But with all that going on it is with tremendous relief that I stepped on the scale this morning and am only up less than a pound! Still solidly at the low end of my maintenance window. I must have made enough good choices to off-set a big gain (there was lots of booze involved, but I wasn’t too bad with food)…and you know that family stress burns double the calories, ha ha. Whatever the reason, I’ll take it!!!

    Day 24-05/03: 170.6 – had a good workout and stretch this morning, and can’t WAIT to relax this weekend! I think we’ll finally get the backyard set up – put the awning on the pergola, get flowers in the pots, plant some greens in the garden…it’s been so chilly here that I’m thinking I can get a crop of arugula going before it gets too hot…maybe half arugula and half “ Asian summer greens” which are like little bok choy leaves that do a little better in the heat. I’m not doing the usual tomatoes & cucumbers because the lanternflies were so horrific last year I had to tear everything out so they didn’t have as much to feed on!! So gross!! Plus I’ll be working straight through the summer so won’t really have time to tend the garden as much as I’d like. Anyway…this is the end of my weigh-in week so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Day 27-05/06:DNW - I had such a fun weekend, it’s so hard to start back up on Monday! But start back up I will. I’m feeling the need to lower my cholesterol after recent bloodwork, and realized that my “faux risotto” I’ve been obsessed with for the past 3 months may be the culprit, since I add a fair amount of pecorino romano cheese…and when I don’t have that for dinner, I usually lean on zucchini noodles with boca crumbles & sauce – also with a goodly amount of pecorino romano. As usual it’s everything in moderation, and I have not been moderate in my consumption!! So did some meal prep this weekend of some old favorites that do NOT involve adding cheese – a healthy version of chicken tikka masala in the slow cooker and some cumin lime slaw that I mix with greens, a little salmon, some avocado & smoked hot sauce. I did a triple batch of the chicken tikka so have a massive store in my freezer now. Ready for the week!

    Day 29-05/08: 170.2 – Good to see the weekend indulgences are gone, and a little extra. Was up at 4am to start work, and just forced myself to stop and do a light 15 minute cardio set & yoga stretch. This job is the worst I’ve had in a long time, with the boss blaming me to things she never communicated to me… though the nice thing about freelance is nothing is forever. I reached out to my last boss to tell her how much I missed her and she actually might have work for me by August, so that gives me hope to just hang in there, take the paycheck, and get out when I can. Not the best attitude for work but it’s the best I can manage right now!

    Day 36 - 05/15: 168.0 - It's been diabolically stressful in my life the last week - my computer up and died out of nowhere, so had to scramble to get a replacement so I could work - which meant working the whole weekend basically between setting up the new computer and making up the time I lost on Friday. I haven't been really focusing on being consistent with workouts but I at least recognized those red flags within myself and righted my ship the last two days... so I am once again shocked by the scale, as I expected a gain and instead have a loss. It might be a fluke, will have to see what happens the rest of the week. I'm sad to have lost the word docs I had going from the last two challenges, because it was nice to have a diary of finally having success in my weight loss after so many years of yo-yo-ing...but it's my own fault for never backing up my hard drive. Oh well! Hope everyone is doing well!

    Day 37 -05/16: 167.2 - So thrilling to see new lows!! And this number marks officially 60 pounds down since last June. Crazy!! My daughter graduates from college this weekend and it was so exciting to try things on that I've bought in the last 5 years thinking they'll fit "when I lose a little weight" that are brand new, tags still attached...and at long last, they DO fit!! I can't help but think about dropping her off 4 years ago, only 6 months into the pandemic, and how I hated to see the pictures of how large I had become. I just didn't look like me, but I was starting to become resigned to that WAS the new me. Then I packed on even more weight, like "who cares?" But I still did care, deep down. I'm so glad I finally found a sustainable path to a healthy weight...I'm feeling back to myself now, which is both a huge relief and a great joy!!

    Day 38 - 05/17: DNW - worked from 4am to 7pm yesterday, and ate my way through the day in what I told myself was "just to stay focused" when I was so tired but really was more about "I feel abused and so I deserve whatever I want!" And there will be more indulgences this weekend...so I'm sure next week will have an uptick, but thankfully I have some room before I get anywhere near going over my goal. As long as I can make SOME good choices and get right back on track on Tuesday I should be ok in the long term. I do need to stay on top of my own destructive impulses though - I refuse to go back to where I was! I hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

    Day 52 - 05/31: 167.8 - Still managing to get back on track on the weekdays while enjoying my weekends... I still can't believe I'm finally making this work. I ordered shorts from Old Navy - which admittedly has some vanity sizing - but my lowest sized shorts from them that I haven't worn in years were a size 14 and were so big on me that I ordered the same shorts in a size 12...they fit like a glove right out of the package. Stuff like that is so fun after so many years of torture! Work is still a stressful grind but I'm really focused on not letting that interfere with getting SOME kind of exercise/stretch in during the week.

    My goal is to be proud of my weight loss.

    Day 01 80.1 kg, I did my planned exercise but I overate a little bit (I'm tracking my intake), since I started tracking I've eaten out 4 times and I need to compensate for those times. I read "most people who lose weight will regain it within 5 years", I checked my old numbers and I'm 3.5 kg under what I weighed 5 years ago. I guess I'm in that category. I talked to my partner about my weight loss (something I'm trying to do less often).
    Day 02 80.0 kg, I ate below my ideal which should help me recover from previous overeating. I did my exercise sessions.
    Day 03 80.1 kg my eating is on track for the last 3 days but I need to recover from the previous 9 which averaged too high. I exercised and that's on track too. Disappointed that the scale is headed in the wrong direction but...
    Day 04 79.4 kg a big loss today. I did a lot of walking, I had sugary food for the first time in 8 days. I overate. Recently there have been 6 days when I overate a lot, I had sugary food 5 times. Coincidence?
    Day 05 79.8 kg just a normal day where I am good, no overeating and exercising is as required
    Day 06 80.4 kg I started two personal challenges, I had some sugary food because I won't be having sugary food for a while, so on Tuesday I gained...
    Day 07 80.6 kg my eating and exercise went well, still need to recover from the overeating episodes, maybe in 2-3 days that will happen
    Day 08 80.4 kg I had some treats and food I don't usually have, that's a negative, on the plus side I'm still exercising as I intended
    Day 09 80.3 kg I have a cold so I only managed half my exercise today, that's fine, eating was good.
    Day 10 80.2 kg another day when I ate properly, two days in a row, plus two exercise sessions.

    Day 12 78.7 kg I don't see a 1 kg loss very often, anyway I overate again, although my exercise was as planned
    Day 13 79.3 kg Another good day, exercise and diet were good. I've decided to attempt to lose 10 kg in 100 days - so this will move over to the next round. Starting tomorrow.
    Day 14 79.4 kg I ran the numbers to see whether I could lose 10 kg in 100 days and it seems iffy, however I'm not particularly hungry as I lose weight, so I guess I should just eat less. I overate and did my required amount of exercise. I looked at my intake graph and since day 1 there's been 7 days when I've overeaten.
    Day 15 79.7 kg I ate a bit too much and my exercise was less than required. 10 kg in 100 days: 10.3 kg to lose in 99 days. Can I do it? Probably.
    Day 16 79.6 kg I ate too much but my exercise was alright. I've decided to delay the 10 kg in 100 days idea until my weight loss 'settles down'
    Day 17 79.5 kg ate too much and didn't exercise at my desired level

    Thoughts:

    Last round I had my normal goal of a 12 pound loss which is approximately 4 lbs per month. That comes to about 90 days leaving the other 10 open for special holidays and social occasions. In theory, it’s a good plan. In practice it is a Mountain to Crawl up. However, each 100 day round I am extremely grateful for any progress I can make, no matter how big or small. I am also grateful for all the support from all of you that I get on a daily basis. Working on my health has become my #1 priority. My main goals are to maintain my remission by staying cancer free and to keep my diabetes in control. Losing weight is key to both goals.



    Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

So I’m okay with this but would love to see some more progress start back up by the start of the new week. I’m babysitting pink-eye grandson today while his mom runs errands as he can’t be taken anywhere right now. I would love to travel later to reach an Aldi’s. That would mean a bit of a trip and dinner out but I really want to re-stock my goat cheese. They sell a 6 oz goat cheese log rolled in cranberry and cinnamon which is divine! It makes a nice little snack for me one ounce at a time. I ran out and really missed my ounce last night. If I don’t go today due to babysitting, then maybe I’ll go tomorrow. It’s warm and beautiful out today. My skin is craving the Vitamin D. Enjoy your Saturday everyone!

    Day 54-06/02-183.4-(Trend weight 185.2) I had another one of my “becoming-too-common” snack fests last night. While I stuck mainly to my “approved snacks”, it still put me over on cals, carbs and every macro. I realized later that I had not even really been hungry. I think it was more habit than anything. I have been doing great at sticking to my pre-logged meals that are all within plan and bound to show results. And then comes that evening self-sabotage. I’ve tried everything I can think of including making my final meal so late that I’ve even eaten at 10 or 11 pm all to no avail. Those snacks are going to come afterward, usually about an hour later, no matter what! I have even woke up from a hard sleep to go potty and found my snacks and ate them half-asleep. It’s time for me to research what I can do about this habitual habit that has become much more than annoying. It reminds me of my hand-to-mouth habit I had to break when I quit smoking 17 years ago. That’s when I gained nearly 90 pounds and this whole mess began! Another pound up today. I didn’t go out of town yesterday or today. I didn’t need a restaurant meal so close to that snacking fest. It will have to wait.
