Two more tennis matches today and it was hot and humid. My court lost both, but the first was close. Second set went to a tie breaker. The second we were whipped, but I was happy that we won two games against them... after another rain delay, starting outside and then having to move indoors. One more match tomorrow morning.7

Thanks @teresa502, @daria0919, @mari33a, @martaindale & @quilteryoyo. Here is my race report.
Possum's Revenge Race Report
The weather was really nice for the race today. The 8 mile race started at 8:00 and Possum' Kingdom Lake is about 45 miles away, so I left about 6:15. I realized about 25 minutes into the drive that I had forgotten my headphones. But they discourage using them anyway so I figured that it would be OK. (It really was. I probably wouldn't have used them if I had remembered them.)
They had staggered the starts of the different distances starting at 6:00 and so there were already people running when I got there. I had plenty of time to check in and pick up my bib and shirt and timing chip and use the restroom before the pre-race briefing. Everything was well organized and the course was well marked. The trail was pretty and seemed to have a good mix of technical and not too technical. (At least for me. This was my first time trail running. I did practice a lot on some dirt roads and there is a hill at the Frisbee golf course at the park that was really good practice for this trail. They also added a sand volleyball court recently and I have run around that some too.) I always felt a little silly, but I was glad I practiced running on sand.
The race was a loop, but started and ended the same, and the first and last part were sandy. The sand wasn't so bad on the way out, but it felt really tough at the end of the race.
I felt really good running. I didn't check my pace very often. I was just trying to stay focused and not fall. Strava says it was 68°f at the beginning and 78°at the end. Garmin says 66°. It was really nice. It did warm up, but there was a lot of shade so the heat wasn't an issue. And it was a beautiful day. I really loved the course. There were a few places that I had to walk up or down some rocky spots. But I ran most of the way. When I got to the finish the volunteer told me to wait because she thought I was the 1st masters female, but they needed to verify it. I was really excited. I thought there were 3 or 4 other women ahead of me, and I knew one was much younger than me but I wasn't sure about the others. It turns out I was the female masters winner. I was 5th female finisher and 15th overall. I finished in 1:47.22. It was really a lot of fun and I got a cool medal and a 1st place coaster.9 -

Morning all.
Got in 6.3M (at 10"11 pace).
Real struggle today. Slept late. Slept awful.9 year old wanted to stay awake (beyond midnight) to watch the Heavyweight 🥊 title fight. Argued with the wife no end (who wanted to enforce some semblance of a bed time).
Anyways... He made it to the ring walks.
Round 1.
Look over....
C'monnnn. You're killing me.
By the end of it. I had a roommate and couch sharing buddy
So I slept like 💩
Anyways...
@kgirlhart well done on your race! 🙌🏽
@quilteryoyo nevermind about the second defeat... Sounds a real killer in that heat! So well done!
@chris_in_cal welcome to Strava!
@martaindale any Caribbean food ? Lol. Love Trini and Jamaican street food8 -

Yesterday, I ran 5 miles before heading to Damascus, VA (about an hour from my house) for Appalachian Trail Days. It’s a huge festival for current and past thru-hikers. It rained most of the time we were there but I got to meet a couple of YouTubers that I’m currently watching and saw several that I followed last year plus got to visit the ATC and lots of vendor booths. As soon as I finished my run yesterday, a friend texted and wanted to run trails today, so I said sure. We ran 9 miles on the hills of Clinch Mountain State Park. We did two loops and climbed 1,048 feet. The trail was extremely muddy and slippery from recent rains. There were some geese down at the bottom near a small lake that had babies. We had a hard time passing by one mama. She was hissing and would start chasing us every time we tried to pass. Finally she got her babies far enough out of the way so that we could get by without getting pecked or flogged or whatever geese do.
Nice long run yesterday @TheMrWobbly! Gorgeous views from the top.
@kgirlhart all your training paid off! Congratulations on being top female masters winner! I have to admit that race shirt is just a little scary though!

Congratulations on such an awesome first trail run @kgirlhart ! Love the bling and congrats on the 1st place Master's and overall finish! You are amazing!
Thanks and Hahaha @tarun_yadavA ! It's always a disappointment when you are a teenager and plan to stay up late for a special occasion and wind up falling asleep. I remember doing that....I can remember a few things that far back. You did great with the run despite it all.

I got home around 1 pm today from the tennis tournament. We only had one match this morning. It was against another team that had lost all of their matches too, so the winner would NOT be the overall looser. Unfortunately, that wasn't us...we lost. My partner and I just couldn't get it together today...especially for the first set...and lost 0-6. The second set we played a lot better and it was closer than the score indicated, at 1-6. Just glad to get one game. Our opponents were super nice. We won one of the other courts, but lost the third one...so close, but no cigar. It was a fun weekend with the ladies.
After I got home, I did a 1.25 mile driveway wun. I just wanted to get it over with so when I unpacked, I could wash all the dirty clothes and get ready to pack again tomorrow.

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 13"07 ). Day 18, I ran whilst still daylight... it's better, I have to do this more often.5

Thanks @chris_in_cal, @tarun_yadavA, @daria0919, @martaindale, @teresa502 and @quilteryoyo. I am a bit sore today, so just did a little yoga and rested.
@quilteryoyo Sorry the tennis didn't go your way this time, but it is awesome that you were able to compete.
@teresa502 I bet that mama goose was kind of scary.3 -
I haven't posted here in a while but I am still getting out to walk with Hobbes the Vizsla when I can and running vicariously by reading about you alls' runs and exploits. We went up the coast for a few days and Hobbes and I hiked around Fiscalini Ranch preserve. I planned to do around 2 miles but got lost and ended up with over 3.5. Hobbes had a run in with some foxtails so earned a visit to the ER vet and the opportunity to make a fashion statement 😁
@kgirlhart - Congratulations on your first trail run and 1st place!
@tarun_yadavA - beautiful picture of London at night and some great runs even when you weren't feeling great! Love the pictures of your little guy sleeping on the couch.
@TheMrWobbly - was that a race or just a long run? Either way the views are fantastic and worth the effort to get up there!
@Mari33a - great NSV with taking in those dresses!
@martaindale - what HM are you running in Idaho? I grew up there and one of my last races pre-pandemic, was the Jack and Jill Downhill HM in Boise. We actually ran down the road to the local ski resort, through town and ending at one of the large parks downtown. There are a couple up north in the mountains (Coeur d'Alene and Priest Lake) as well as one in the Tetons, that I would love to run if I was still able.
@quilteryoyo - Sounds like a fun tennis getaway even if the games didn't go well.5 -
Morning all!
Got in 6.66M (at 09"49).
@shanaber lovely to see you (+Hobbes!) again
@quilteryoyo great effort on the tennis!
No- it wasn't the 15 year old. It was the nine year old. Which is why my wife was getting pissy at me wanting to stay up till 12:30am/1 ...
And of course, I heard all about it - when he crashed on the couch before Round1 even started!
(Was too tired to run with me on Sunday too! Haha!)4 -
I have just found this challenge after setting myself a rather ambitious one year goal for May 2025: to beat my previous half marathon PB, just over a week before I turn 50. For context I haven't run since 2020 when plantar fascitis put a stop to training so I'm now very cautiosly starting back up by using Couch 2 10k, and my goal for this month is to stay on track with the programme and reach week 5.7

Welcome @josefinejem sounds like a smart May goal. With this amazing group you give a little and get a lot in return. I've never battled Planar Fascitis but I know a few have, I haven't set a big audacious HM goal, but some are working on that right now.
WRT weight, there are maintainers here who are living wonderful full lives with running, fitness, and activities. It's very inspiring. Good luck and I hope to see you around.

Welcome to this group @josefinejem!
I found this group last fall and it motivated me to start back up after a good 8-9 years of not running. They inspired me to train for a 10K and I followed a training program and succeeded in completing my 10K in April. A 10K is a great starting point.
Stick with this group and be inspired and cheered on! Feel free to post your runs/walks/whatever here and you’ll find loads of support!
Looking forward to getting to know you 😀
