I had fully intended to run 3 miles today to celebrate my 3 year streak, but woke up feeling like crap and have had a low grade fever all day. I did manage a one mile, slower treadmill walk to keep it going.5 -
Back around the usual loop for me this morning - my 8km with the massive hill. It was a pleasant run today, the only stand out feature being the frost which froze my fingers completely. We don’t usually get frost this early - in fact, this is almost as cold as winters get here in Auckland - but we’ve now had two in two days. It does make for a stunning day however. The difference between this and real winter is as soon as the sun comes up it gets pretty warm pretty quickly.
The view from my kitchen window this morning.5 -

@martaindale I 'm glad the running is going well. Enjoy your weekend with the kid.

The day didn't go as planned. I am feeling better today. My temperature was back to my normal low before I went to bed last night. But, I had to take Tippy to the vet, unexpectedly, so missed breakfast. After I got her back home, I went to work. I did a wun on the treadmill when I got home this evening.
More info on Tippy under the spoiler, if you're interested.Tippy is okay...well, they couldn't find anything wrong. She just wasn't acting at all like her normal self. No energy. Wouldn't get up to go out to pee this morning. Final straw was when she wasn't interested in her favorite treat or playing "find it" with the treat. Turned out my normal vet is out of town, so I had to take her somewhere else. They had an appointment for about an hour from when I called and it takes 45 min to get there, so I skipped breakfast, got her in the car, and headed out. She did blood work and an exam. Everything looked good and she was much more energetic there. We're thinking it may be her arthritis was worse or she was just have a blah type of day - like I had yesterday. We'll see how she does over the weekend. I may wind up taking her back to the regular vet on Monday if she's still being lethargic.6 -
Neighborhood 1Mile (at 13"42 ). Day 10. TGIF folks, keeping the dream alive. My body isn't totally happy, but it's coming around.8

Today's run was an uneventful 6 mile run. It was a little cooler than it has been. It us supposed to be rainy/thunderstorms this weekend, so I am not sure if I will be able to run. My trail race is coming up next Saturday, so it probably won't hurt to take it kind of easy this week.
@quilteryoyo I hope Tippy is feeling better soon.

Parkrun this morning. I volunteered to check the course beforehand, netting me an extra 5k and a nice warm up. Wasn’t super keen on having to leave home at 6:30am with the sun not up and another frost on the ground. Beautiful morning though which made it totally worth it. Curiously I was colder on my second run at 8am because I was going that much faster so wind chill was a bigger factor.
Pics of the sunrise walking to the start of the course and the red bridge over the motorway that we cross at the beginning and end of the run - we don’t usually see it lit up, another bonus of an early start.6 -
An extreme geomagnetic storm means we got to see Aurora Australis (the Southern Lights) tonight. Very, very rare to see them this far north - in fact I didn’t think it was possible. Very pretty pink sky!6

Morning all
Got in 10Miles today (at 09"32).
Thought I'd burn a bit extra... Some calories carnage incoming later... Trip to the movies and then this Asian fried chicken fast food joint opened up in London
@quilteryoyo hoping Tippy gets better soon! 🙏🏽
@ContraryMaryMary nice pics!
Weird? Woke up this morning with people saying they could see the Northern lights in England! 🤷5 -

Keep it going1 -
Wish I would have got the memo to check for northern lights yesterday . The pictures I’ve been seeing look beautiful.
I went for an easy 6.1km run. I wasn’t feeling great, and was glad to just get through it. We are having a (much welcomed) spike in temperature/humidity which my body needs time to adjust to. And out come the shorts/shorts/etc… They have been waiting for what feels like a year to come out .
I gave myself some thinking time, but finally signed up for our local 5km the weekend after next. I’m feeling undertrained and don’t know if I should even try to beat my last years time. On the other hand, I can’t imagine sitting a race out where my kids are also racing. I’m not pressuring myself though- just happy to be outside taking part .
52.1/160km for May.
@chris_in_cal Keep up the good work
@quilteryoyo Hope Tippy is doing better tomorrow!4 -

It wasn't raining this morning and there is a chance of thunderstorms all day tomorrow, so I decided to do my long run today instead of tomorrow. My trail race next Saturday is 8 miles, so I decided to run 8 miles for my long run this week. I tried going off road as much as possible and even ran in some sand at the park where there is a sand volleyball court. I feel pretty ready for the race. I am sure it will be more technical than the areas I have run so far. But I am looking forward to the challenge.
@ContraryMaryMary Wow! Those pictures are beautiful!

Morning all
Got in 13K/8.08M (at 10"55 pace).
Weekly run with my 9yr old... Who made it to 5K. Hot here today, too.
And happy Mother's day to all the American ladies here!
(Father's Day is the same day here and in the States, but Mothers Day isn't! 🤷 )8
