My name is Donna. I am 5โ€™ 5โ€ tall, 64 years old and from Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

This Challenge Starting Weight (from April 30th): 185.6
    Goal: 181.6 (Four lb Loss)
    Actual Ending Weight: xxxxx
    Total Lost/Gained this month: xxxxx

**********************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME********************

Weight in blue makes me blue because itโ€™s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itโ€™s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

05/16-186.8-(Trend Weight 186.0)- I stuck to my pre-logged diet plan yesterday until my evening snack time. I only ate my planned choices for snacks, but I ate them twice. No, I didnโ€™t forget I ate them, I just was still a bit hungry and wanted more so I ate them again about an hour later. Iโ€™ve done such extensive research and have been a scrutinizing shopper over the years. I have found some great things for my plan but I hope I donโ€™t like them TOO much. I still saw a small drop this morning so I am relieved.

05/17-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- Today is my no-weigh Friday. Plans for this weekend are more yard work today and Saturday, and a 50 year celebration/dinner of a long-time business opening about 20 miles from my home on Sunday. That is very close by country standards. In a small community people really pull together for this sort of thing. There will be food, cake etc. and I will be going with Foodie daughter and my DGS I babysit. Lately I have been using the yard work as an excuse to not exercise. I should at least be doing some strength training so I will focus on that as a minimum these next couple of days. No more excuses! Have a great weekend everyone!

    ๐ŸŒธMAY DAILY WEIGH IN๐ŸŒธ

    SW for May - 305.4
    GW for May - 299.0

May 1: 305.4 No water aerobics class today, as I was needed to watch my youngest grandchild (a 3 month old girl <3 ) while my son and his fiancรฉ took care of some phone calls with the insurance company. They were rear ended by a pickup truck yesterday, (the whole rear of their car was smashed in) and thank God they came through it with only whiplash. The baby came out without a scratch, even though the back seat and her car seat were shoved all the way into the back of the front seat. They were very, very fortunate. My husband took us out to eat afterwards to a new-to-us restaurant. The food was really good, and while I ate mostly healthy and stayed under my calories for the day, I did indulge in some breaded and fried zucchini. So we'll see what that's going to cost me, when I weigh myself tomorrow.

AF is still being a pain. Forgot to post this am but doing so now and then also already went on a 4.5 mile walk with the dogs followed by a 2 hour nap. We had bad storms and lost power from 6:30-11pm last night, but thankfully it turned back on and could sleep on comfy AC unlike most of Houston. Took the day off work to chill (use up PTO) then lazy weekend ahead so really need to watch the calories. Over halfway to the end of the month! We got this!

    Hi everyone,

Back to May start weight. I might need a bit of rest - my fibromyalgia is playing up. Itโ€™s frustrating trying to be active when your body responds by causing more pain. I just want my weight to be under 3 figures! Getting below 107kg has been a major struggle. I get tired and run down which causes flares and I crave junk.

Have a great weekend everyone ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Happy May everyone! ๐Ÿฆ‹ Iโ€™m Kat and I live in rural NV with my boyfriend and 5 cats. Iโ€™ve been on a slow weight loss/fitness journey since February. This monthโ€™s challenges will be heavy workload and stress at work and renovations and other projects around the house with 10 days off at the end of the month to focus completely on renovations. My main goal this month is to not burn myself out with so much going on! Mostly healthy meals, exercising when I have energy, and a healthy focus on emotional/mental health.

5/17: 111.4 I've been weighing in, but taking a little break from logging. I'll probably be back to it next week, but it's nice to enjoy a mental break from measuring every tiny thing and remembering to log it! Also good practice for maintenance, which I still have a bit to go, but I'm pleased nothing has gone terribly wrong yet on this break!

Hey all, Charlene here. I'm 58yo, 5'8", married 40 years, 6 kids, 9 grandkids, and I'm a caregiver for the elderly so they can stay in their homes.

    Goal weight: 150
    April 30: 182.3
    May 17: 185.3
    May 18: 184.2 ๐Ÿ˜€

Yesterday was lovely; I had a double work shift with clients I dearly care about. We went out to lunch and I was measured in what I ate; a nice garden salad and a side of those darling potatoes I'm so fond of - but I split them with my client. Yay progress, not perfection!

I logged everything I ate, met my water goal, didn't snack after dinner, and last evening I kept myself busy listening to a declutter channel on YouTube while going through boxes of clothes.

I love clothes. I love color theory and body proportion; I know what fabrics look good on me, and in what weights, what colors are best and how to balance my long legs with my short, petite torso (my waist is only 1.5 inches long!) Like most women, I'm pear shaped and heavier between waist and knees.

I'm frugal so I shop at thrift stores, so the investment in these clothes is not a financial burden at all; but I just can't take everything with me when I move, sadly. And I've kept sizes 8-16 in pretty complete wardrobes.

So I'm beginning the painful process of deciding what to keep from my smaller sizes (only that which I really, really like) and letting the rest go. If I do lose this 30 pounds again, I can replace them as my size goes back down; but I just don't have room to store 4 different size ranges in the trailer.

@deepwoodslady yes, 20 miles is close by county standards! We've lived in both big cities and tiny towns. There's a difference in thought process about what's "close"! Have fun at the party tonight.

@ilive2walk thank you for that quote about the tortoises. I like the road because it's filled with stories! Have a lovely lunch today; so close to those 140's!

@cattherien @iLive2Walk thanks. It hit me fast and hard. But thankfully it was a long weekend for me and hubs was around to help.

Trying to stick to my plan. Had Pizza last night. But the numbers are going in the right direction at least. I really need to add in the movement piece soon.

05/18-187.4-(Trend Weight 186.2)- Iโ€™m posting very late today due to such a busy schedule today which started with my two older DGS haircuts today. They are both in high school and Iโ€™ve been taking care of that since they were basically born. Afterward was fast food out for them, none for me. Iโ€™m not exactly crazy about McDonalds and that is what they wanted since there isnโ€™t one in their small town. Scale is up yet again. I ended up eating a bowl of Campbellโ€™s Vegetable soup with about 8 crackers last night when I got real hungry. I havenโ€™t had Campbellโ€™s soup in quite a few years. I thought it would be better than snack junk but apparently not. Lots of sodium Iโ€™m sure. I did get on the exercise bike for 33 minutes last night so that is a plus. Today has been good so far. I hope I can keep the food to a minimum and be extra mindful of my night time snack until itโ€™s shut-eye time.

Each Month I write a reflection on how the month went. Here's My April Reflection if anyone wants to read:
    April 2024 Reflection

April was basically a frustrating weight loss month; lost 1.2 pounds. Didnโ€™t reach my stretch or regular weight loss goal. At least it wasnโ€™t a gain. Started off the month with indulging on Easter, then took an overnight trip to see the Eclipse and was also off plan. Then mid-month realized I had a problem with my bathroom scale โ€“ apparently, I have been underestimating my weight for a while โ€“ new scale new weight and it wasnโ€™t pretty. Worked hard the last couple weeks, and at least I got down to below my starting weight โ€“ which who knows if that was correct. For May โ€“ my goal is to get into the 140s come hell or high water.

I have been successful with the exercise, averaging well over my 17K goal, and tracked a little over 250 miles again in April; year to date a little over 1,000; almost have way there. I am also on track for intentional miles with a little over 750 miles to date.

I have been keeping on plan with my cardio and strength routines. I alternate one day of cardio and then one day of strength. Although I do not like them much, I add one stretch type routine weekly. I have been having some trouble with some pain in my knees โ€“ so found a stretching knee exercise that I began adding daily at the end of the month. I have an appointment with the Doctor May 1 to see what she says. Hopefully, I can continue to walk and wonโ€™t have to take a break.

I started re-reading the first book of the Harry Potter series, along with my Hogwarts Challenge. I finished โ€œThe Masked Cityโ€ and am on the third book of the Invisible Library Series โ€“ โ€œThe Burning Pageโ€.
The next round of The Biggest Loser starts May 1. We have a full team, and I spent a lot of time in-between rounds getting ready. Looking forward to the start. The Hogwarts Challenge started; always a fun one. I rejoined Fat2Fit - I can do it.
    • My May Goals:
    • Get into the 140 range!
    • Log 150 intentional miles; and 250 in overall miles
    • Alternate days of Cardio and Strength Training
    • Stretch 3 days per week
    • Average 17K steps per day
    • Read almost every day

Here is my before and after picture for April. Not much different than last month but found a new before picture and took an after at the same spot.

    7n6u5wwbjdfh.png

May 1: 151.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿซ€ ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฎME! A good day for me yesterday; got it all done and had some Me time. I love a new month - a fresh start; and so glad to be back.
May 2: 150.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚ ๐ŸŽฎ ME! A nice swish - hope it stays off. Still working towards that old scale number (had to replace the old scale mid-April and the new scale was ugly and not nice). As much as I hate to say it, the new scale was right. Went to the doctor yesterday and the numbers matched to the decimal. Nice day yesterday - moved bingo night with the family to Wednesday this week. Noone won, but it is always fun.
May 3: 152.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ I should keep my mouth quiet when I have big downside - it always bites me in the butt. Busy day yesterday. Got our morning walk done, then worked in the garden most of the day. Spread the rest of the soil and turned it in. Got the carrots, potatoes, and parsnips planted. Cleaned up the screened porch which was filled with garden stuff. Exhausted, so of course binged a little - but with all the exercise today came just under my calorie limit - with binging of course went over the sodium limit.
May 4: 151.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚ ๐ŸŽฎ Another busy day in the garden, also busy with a relay race in another challenge that I am in - kept me busy all day.
May 5: 151.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐ŸŽฎ What I expected (or a gain). Relay race for the Hogwarts challenge and the garden (finished) kept me so busy yesterday when dinnertime came I said I'm too exhausted to cook - we got subway, which has so much sodium, then I had pretzels, and cookies - ate all my exercise calories. Had two calories left for the day! I did take a beautiful walk in the morning yesterday along the Connecticut River and got this shot with the sun reflecting in the water - and they put the docks in, guess that means it's time to get the boat ready!
    dnwifrcwamy1.jpg
May 6: 150.2 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! First smile in a while! I don't give them until I am under my last recorded low weight. Finally got under the old scale weight. Rested a little yesterday, didn't reach my step goal - but way over my 17K average goal. Tonight is bingo night with Mom- going to resist the junk!

May 7: 151 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! Nice night with mom, noone won. I'm up on the scale - but was under my calorie limit and sodium limit - so thinking just normal flucuations.
May 8: 150.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! Nice day yesterday - super warm. Hubby had a PT appointment so got some me time while he was gone. Monty and I snuggled on the couch and watched MY tv shows. I usually watch them on the treadmill. It was nice. The scale is kind of being stubborn - showed me a little dance on Monday - but it was just a tease. We got the boat uncovered. We were going to wash it today- but got a call from Allyson this morning - she's having trouble with her AC unit - so going over for a Daddy-Do to see what we can do to fix it (or replace).
May 9: 150.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ Ordered a new AC Unit - old one bit the dust. Busy day with the daddy-dos so had a hard tme fitting in the excercise - I felt very good about myself because I accomplished everything in my plan.
May 10: 149.8 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! It's temporary, but I'll take it. Today taking Mom out for Mother's Day - so expect a rise tomorrow. Going to our favorite seafood restaurant. But I have seen the 40s and they look nice!
May 11: 150.0 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ Nice day with Mom yesterday to celebrate Mother's day. Today going to visit Greg's cousin (actually his Mom's cousin). Greg's Mom passed quite a few years ago, and his cousin is his closest Mom figure.

May 12: 149.8 ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– Missed my step goal, left the house at 6AM and didn't get back until 4PM - did get my workout done. I don't know how all you that work do it. I was exhausted and was just sitting chatting for 6 hours. Although I missed my step goal I did hit the 1,100 mile marker for my 2,024 in 2024 goal.
May 13: 149.8 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฎME! I have been having some pain in my knees for a couple weeks now. When I had my doctor's appointment last week - my doctor said to keep walking, and referred me to an orthopedic doctor (appointment tomorrow). I have been pushing through to get my step and cardio goals done. The last couple of days, have been hurting a lot so slowed down a little. Just did a stretch workout and a couple smaller walks. I am anxious about what the doctor will say tomorrow.
May 14: DNW: ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฎME! Well, yesterday after my walk - my knee froze up and now I can put any weight on it. Perfect timing - as I have my othopedic appointment today. Did not weigh because I can't step up on the scale. Using crutches - hope they can do something - but it looks like I won't be getting in those walks for the near future. I won't let it de-rail me. I'll have to do some upper body workouts unti I get it figured out.

May 15: 150.2 ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! Went to the doctor, arthritis in both knees, but concerned it could me a meniscus tear on left side (which doesn't show up on an xray). Have to wait for insurance to approve, then going for an MRI. In the meantime, stay off for a week or two, and ibuprofen to reduce swelling. Upper exercises, and eating less for the time being, and have to figure out my diet without having the exercise calories to rely on. Was a tad over yesterday. I did find some seated cardio and strength routines that I tried, but . . . .
May 16 150.4 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! Got it all done, except the steps (won't hit that for a while). I'm thinking the garmin overestimates the seated workouts calories. Feeling a little better, I can walk without the crutches. One step at a time. And I had TOO much ME time!
May 17 151.4 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! Very frustrating. I found a bunch of seated exercise routines and reached my 100 minutes of intentional goal - but it really apparent that the Garmin must over estimate how much I burned. I think today I won't record any exercise on my Garmin and just have a really light eating day. I have an appointment next Thursday (Yes a long way out) for an MRI. I was going to cancel because it seems to be getting better, and then I said "No, let's just do it to rule out anything major."
May 18: 150.6 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! I took a short slow walk yesterday and did ok. Then the a lot of seated exercise to get my 100 minutes in. Didn't use any exercise calories towards my calorie limit and came 33 calories under my limit. I wasn't hungry - I don't eat because I'm hungry - never have. I eat because I like food. Today am celebrating Mother's Day and Allyson's 30th birthday - going out to lunch. Will have a very small breakfast and light dinner to compensate.I really would like to see the 140s again soon.
May 19: 152.6 ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! It's what I expected. Out to lunch, and then that started me on the snacking instead of a light dinner. Way over the calorie limit and sodium - back to it today. Hoping the body quickly reverses my sabotage.

Hey all, Charlene here. I'm 58yo, 5'8", married 40 years, 6 kids, 9 grandkids, and I'm a caregiver for the elderly so they can stay in their homes.

    Goal weight: 150
    April 30: 182.3
    May 18: 184.2 ๐Ÿ˜€
    May 19: 183.3 ๐Ÿ˜€

Hooray! Yesterday I logged everything and stayed in my calorie allowance, without eating my exercise; and no dessert.

I was crazy busy; basically I went through 4 bedroom closets and my dresser, and donated probably 2/3 of it. Filled the trunk of my car twice, and immediately took it to Goodwill so that I didn't change my mind. I kept the things I liked best from my smaller sizes, put them in vacuum seal storage bags, sucked out all the air, and put them on the top shelf of my bedroom closet. I'd already gone through most of my shoes and boots, but I need to refine that because I'm sure there are some that still need to go.

Today we need to go "open" our motorhome to get it ready to move to our new town. It is a vintage 32ft 1989 Rockwood Prestige (with only 32,099 miles on the huge Ford 460 engine). We named it Clora Mae in my Grandma's honor, because she loved to travel, and her last trip was just the two of us. We love to go camping and to travel to visit family. Here's our motorhome.

@ilive2walk aww, look at you two! She's adorable, and she looooooves you! โค๏ธโค๏ธ Happy birthday to her.

@lifechanges2day hey hey, looks like you're gonna meet your May goal!!

@deepwoodslady aww Grandma, giving the boys (big boys!) haircuts and treats - and resisting temptation at fast food! I dunno about the soup either; but you're probably right about the sodium and it's highly processed. Sometimes what we gain on the forehand, we lose on the backhand.

05/19-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I know what Iโ€™ve done right but I also know what Iโ€™ve done wrong. Gosh, I feel the gains of the past few months in my clothes and I hate it. It feels like a huge dry forest burning out of control. I know my little buckets of water will never put it out. Iโ€™ve got to stay the course and do more. It feels like Iโ€™m overwhelmed and fighting a losing battle right now, when all I really have to do is turn on the hose and consistently put out the flames. Itโ€™s not hopeless, even if it feels like it is right now.
