This morning my friend who dances with me every Friday cancelled so she could go to an all day event with her family and friends so I had a surprise free morning. Jake took Annie with him to run errands and it was the longest I've been in the house without Annie since we got her in October, I was like a kid in a candy store trying to decide what to do with "no dog duty" freedom. I used my time well and it was glorious. I don't want my life to be like that all the time but that hour was delightful.
Heather, you are doing amazingly well filling your time with important activities as you wait for your surgery. I think of you every morning while I'm walking.

Kim – that dog made me laugh out loud. I only laughed harder when you told us that the owners didn’t want to violate his “civil rights”. Glad you got a good tip, you deserve it
Allie – sooo glad you had such a great trip. Prayers for Tracey and Kyle. I must say, tho, that I’m worried (a tiny bit) about Tracey with Kyle’s temper and the needs of this child. I guess the good Lord has His plan. Maybe the plan is that this will help Kyle with his temper.
Went to see the play “Sister Act”. I can’t get over how very talented the cast is.

Kim- not sure how far Lodi is from you but if you feel like taking a drive, we will be at Comic Con all day

Well, clearly, having three children for five hours is the way to exhaust yourself enough to sleep! Apart from getting up for painkillers, I slept the best I have in ages.
The parents had a wonderful time at the cookery school, and made some amazing food.
We shared out our phones and tablet for the last hour after 8.30, and, apart from continually telling Bea to turn the bleeping down, they were all happily ensconced in Google doodle. Before that the girls did some Art with us.
I made a card for the new baby, due today, but I got the rainbow colours upside down. The kids knew immediately! I don't suppose it matters. Maybe it symbolises their lives being turned upside down!
It's terribly badly executed, but I did manage to get the Telly tubby sun baby OK.
The girls made coasters.
John is off to cricket. I bought him a new, bigger, thermos flask for coffee, and some packaged 'hotel' biscuits for our anniversary, so he will be using those.
It's halloumi curry for dinner, so I might cook it and take his portion of halloumi out, to stop it going soggy, then put it back when I heat it up for him.

Good morning, all we are having an unusually warm sunny spell here. Rain is due tomorrow, so will make the most of today. I'm slowly drifting into summer mode.
Heather: Enjoy your me time today. We love them dearly, but some alone time is very welcome.
Will pop out to the local shops soon, then spend time outdoors.

Morning ladies
Woke up ,or should I say was woken up and will go back to sleep for a bit..1 -
My friend G has treated herself to a pair of Dior sunglasses, as part of her celebration for entering the mental hospital 40 years ago. It changed her life. She bought them at a very, very posh department store in Paris, called Samaritaine. Today she's going back to claim the VAT. They do look lovely, even though the price is extortionate. I think she likes the packaging and the box as much as anything!
Her exploits inspired me to look for a new pair for me. I lost my favourites last year on a cruise bus, and I wasn't going to buy any while I'm incarcerated, but I thought, why not!
Chose these Radley ones as they are different to my others, which are black, or tortoiseshell. Not too pricey.
I've also bought some seaglass earrings. Cheap.
I was just settling down to watch my videos when my lovely sister-in-law rang from her car. After a few enquiries about my health, she said she had something sad to tell me. She has broken up with her long-term boyfriend of 15 years. Quite by accident she discovered texts on his phone that revealed he has been meeting a young woman from the Quakers, and not telling DSIL anything about it. It was upsetting enough for her not to trust him, so she ended it.
I think I said some helpful things, and she thanked me for them.
I didn't say I'd never really liked him, but it's true. I would have much preferred to see her on her own when they came down. He was pleasant enough, but never contributed much to the experience. Plus he compartmentalised his life and never got divorced from his estranged wife. So..........
I'm bursting to tell John, but I'll have to wait until tonight.
I told her we could go the The Regency fish restaurant now! (He's allergic to fish) And I don't have to cook vegetarian when she comes. I am extremely fond of my DSIL , and hope this means we can see more of her.
Life never stays the same, does it........

Good morning ladies!
Teddy is concerned about some invisible thing in the yard this morning. I'm wondering whether the mowing service will show up, but that would be later.
I have a barbecue lunch scheduled, and my car tires need air before I go. So a busy day for me. But I start with a hot cup of tea and a visit with my favorite ladies!
Have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Good morning ladies-
I was up super early, couldn't sleep, so went outside to look for the Aurora Borealis. No sign. There's some light pollution north of me, but still I should see something. Maybe tonight. Evidently there is a slight chance of the power grid and/or the internet being affected, but so far so good. How are the rest of you faring?
Heather - Neat new sunglasses! Good for you. Sounds like you had a fun time with the grands - gosh they are growing up quickly. Sorry to hear about your SIL but time for that guy to hit the road. How old is he- in his 70's? And now carrying on with a younger gal. Lots of energy there, lol.
Diabetes prevention class- Yesterday I got an email from the hospital giving the diabetes prevention class, giving instruction for the Zoom meeting on Monday. Mainly housekeeping things. And a link to the first "lesson" - just some intro stuff. Since I've been on the lower carb eating for several weeks, I might have slid just under the "pre-diabetes" threshold. I reckon the A1C will tell the tale, will get that checked in about 6 weeks.
Beth - thanks for the fascinating information about your implant and hearing aids and how it all works. Amazing.
So far I'm not having much trouble wearing that hearing aid in my left ear - I think part of the problem before was due to the earpiece on the glasses I was wearing at the time exerting pressure and pushing things out of whack a teeny bit. I wear different glasses now. Sometimes it's uncomfortable but I can adjust things a little.
It got up to 86F at my house yesterday afternoon, turned on the AC for a little while. Have windows open right now to get a little breeze going. House was 71 when I got up - I'm used to it being around 65.
Loading up tomato plants this morning to deliver to my friend T. That just leaves half a dozen for me to plant here this coming week. Many of the plants are getting ready to bloom. I think we are done with a chance of frost this season so it should be safe to put into the ground or in containers, even though they'll probably stay in "suspended animation" for a while.
I better get this posted before I forget about it. Make it a great weekend!

Good morning, my chickens, from my soon-to-be-sunny day in the Arkansas River Valley... a little chilly now, but soon warm and dry.
Haven't missed a day reading, but keeping that many in my memory wasn't possible... but did want to say a quick welcome to our newcomers, including @mcmillonmail ! Make sure to tell us what you'd like us to call you, and about where you are geographically... helps us keep things straight. This group moves so fast that you might feel ignored, but we're often posting at the same time, and since we're worldwide, it's a 24-hour trickle of posts, so it might take time for people to see your post among the rest. Chime in wherever you feel comfortable; we're glad you're here!
My friends left yesterday after their eight-day visit, and now Egg 🐈⬛ is wandering around the house looking for them in every closet. For a change that antisocial little creature was more than willing to let strangers pet her... and then she began to demand it. Now she's wondering where they've gone. Shows even old(er) cats can learn new tricks! 🤣😹😽
It was lovely to pick up our old relationships right where they left off--that ease of knowing what the other person loves and hates, what to avoid, what makes them laugh 😂. There were a few adventures, too. They got to experience their first tornado scare Tuesday night (or Wednesday, can't even remember now). The tornado siren that's only a block away went off four times, 🌪️🔊🔔🔊 but it was a lightning strike 🌩️ and a blast of thunder right on its heels that woke me at 2:30 a.m.🕝
When I walked out in the living room, the third siren call was blaring, and there was a message on my phone📲 from my friend asking me if it meant there was a tornado nearby. I replied "yes," and after the siren stopped, she came over, and we stood in the carport and watched the rain and the winds lash and shake their big camper/trailer. The sirens don't tell you how close a tornado is, just that one's been sighted in the county.
The siren sounded one more time, but stopped quite quickly, and everything finally died down. We never even lost power, and kept up with the weather on our phones, on two different apps. A tornado 🌪️ did touch down in the county about seven miles away, did some damage, but no fatalities, thank goodness. We finally went back to sleep, and the men never even really woke up, just grunted and turned over.
Then our son John and his fiancée 🥰drove down on Thursday, stayed a few hours with us, long enough to give Corey a hug and talked to him a minute, and headed back up to their home, an hour and a half away. It was a great visit. My friends have known Johnny nearly half his life, and they were eager to meet Soraya. She was as relaxed as I've known her, and it helped to sit down and play a game or two of cards, and just enjoy the afternoon. I'm warming to her; there's a sweet core to her that I approve of heartily. 🤗💗
And yesterday morning, I hugged my friends hard, and waved them on their way. I will miss the time over a cup of coffee with my friend each morning, more than I can say, but there will be phone calls, as always, and she's very homesick after more than six months away from her beloved Montana home. 🏡
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and will get back in the swing of this communication stream again, now that I don't have people around nearly every waking minute!
Love y'all,

Just went out and saw the Aurora Australis! With the naked eye here, all we can see is the green/white colours, but still nice. 🙂 I spent quite a few years living in northern Alberta where the Northern Lights appear in all colours.
People are getting coloured photos of the Aurora Australis tonight, but I'm not sure how they're doing it. Ah, OK, I think I've figure it out, but I'm not seeing much of them right now and they would require a tripod which I don't have access to right at the moment.
Nevertheless, I think that's the first time I've seen the Aurora Australis. 🙂
That's now my main highlight today!
Another highlight was spending time at the local Tip Shop and picking up a few things for the garden and for our grand-daughter, and a couple DVDs for us. One is a series of Shaun the Sheep.
While at the Tip Shop, we came across an 'acquaint-friend' ... someone who is kind of between acquaintance and friend ... who we haven't seen for a while. Really nice catching up.

When I got up this AM, my PC said that the internet was back on. Evidently, the Northern Lights messed up the electrical connections for a bit. Tracey has some beautiful photos on her Facebook page and hope she shows them here.

Morning ladies
Another quick check in..today is townwide tag sales..not going out..im still recouping..will do some laundry..and rest up..I did alot of driving over the last week.1 -
Saw the Aurora last night. We drove out about 30 minutes north to a state park. Many others had the same idea. We got there at about 9:45 pm, too early. The sun was finally all the way down at about 10:15, and we waited. Having never seen them before, I was afraid we would miss it. But at about 11 pm, the sky started to change, and long streaks began to be visible, and then the colors started, blues, violets, and red. They took up a third of the visible sky, so I needn't have worried about missing them. We watched until about 11:30, and headed home. Just spectacular. Two of my boys were with us, and they took turns hugging me as we watched. For us, a once in a lifetime experience.

Lanette - I don't think it had got as far as an affair, legally, but he was deceiving her, and clearly getting close to someone without her knowledge. They live separately, and he obviously needs to compartmentalise his life, while she is an open book. Plus, she was on a hotel mystery test visit one Friday (one of their days) and asked him to come for a drink because she was feeling lonely, and he lied about what he was doing and even lied on a family group WhatsApp text. He was out with the woman, and other members of the Quakers, he now says. Once trust is gone, that's it.
I know she is wondering if she has done the right thing, but you have to have trust and honesty between you.
I'm sorry to say there were red flags from the beginning, and i have seen her banging her head on a table with frustration, but we are all good at ignoring those!!! 15 years is a long time. She is one of my favourite people in the world.
They are both counsellors! I said how weird it was that I was counselling a counsellor. I'm sure she will do a lot of second guessing, but the point is, if it's not right for you, it's not right.
Congrats to all of you seeing the Aurora. All the times we have been north, it has been 24 hrs daylight. It has been seen in the UK, but not this far south.
Lisa - Awwww! Your house will feel so empty.. I get auditory hallucinations after the kids have been with us. So glad it went well.
My mind is preoccupied with my DSIL at the moment. I know there will be a lot of talking when John gets home.

My middle daughter called me after not talking to me since December. She spent most of the call time trying to berate me for putting my DH before her and not saving any money. Then she broke down and finally answered that “I’m not there”! She is in TN and is 40 years old. She retains a lot of anger and issues from my divorce from her abusive father and how that all went down. It was an ugly divorce with custody battles for 5 years until I moved to TN. She was living with him at her choice when I moved to TN and then he left her on her own at 15. She was strong enough to finish High School and finally made something good of herself but always resented me for divorcing him, then moving to TN, then to CT and NM. She took those move personally when none of them had anything to do with her. Anyway, we spoke for over an hour and at the end, she agreed to answer my calls and talk to me more often. We shall see. She holds grudges and cuts people out of her life for perceived slights. My youngest sister has been on her grudge list for not visiting her in TN when my mother (87 yo) flew into Nashville from CT to visit her. My DMD took it as a slight against her that they didn’t get with her for dinner. My sister and mom had another 2.5 hour drive from the airport! At 87 my mom has no stamina for all this drama. But DMD took it against her and hasn’t talked to my mom or my sister for the last 3 years b/c of this.
Family Drama, sorry all. Needed to vent. Can’t talk to DH about this b/c this daughter insists I divorce or leave him and move back to TN. I don’t want to start or ‘feed the fire’ of another grudge on both sides. “SIGH” Glad I go to therapy!! (Funny thing here, I was at therapist when she first called! I answered and told her I was in a doctor’s and would call her right back. Therapist was interested in my reaction. She saw I was happy to hear from her! I’m sure this will be a discussion next session!)

Allie - glad Tracy and Kyle were able to have some hope given to them at the appointment.
Barbie - unscheduled alone time like that is precious when you have someone around all the time.
Heather- it would be hard to break up after 15 years, but your SIL made a wise choice. Hopefully you’ll have some great visits soon. I love your sunglasses, I have never owned a pair because I have to wear my prescription glasses all the time so I have some that clip on only.
Lanette - I hope you get to see the Northern Lights tonight, I must say though that they were hardly visible to the naked at points last night the camera picked them up much better. I’m sure there is some scientific reason for that, but I’m not sure what it is.
Lisa - sounds like a wonderful visit.
Happy that your son and his GF were able to get down too.
Carol - I will post some photos here.
Flea - I so enjoyed our little drive out to see the lights last night. It’s not very often I can convince Rodger to do these little things that cost nothing.
So Rodger and I left home about 11pm last evening and drove about 10 minutes outside of the city in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights, there were clouds most of the evening, but cleared for about 1/2 an hour.
These are pictures I took with just my phone camera. The bright pink ones were taken in night mode, the more muted ones were without night mode.
I don’t know how to actually turn that mode on my phone it comes and goes based on the light I think.
The picture with the bright green tree in the lower right corner was taken back home with the lights on our deck on.
Rita - I hope your daughter continues to talk maybe she needs some help with therapy in learning to forgive.
Lauryn and the kids just arrived, they haven’t visited for a month or more.

Heather - For your DSIL - I'm assuming she loved him, at least really cared about him although it wasn't reciprocated. Here goes:
Flea and Tracey and Okie - wonderful the Northern Lights put on a show for you. I guess they did around here at midnight, I'm seeing lovely photos. Hope there's a repeat tonight.
Rita - sorry your DMD is in such a state. Hope she'll continue talk to you and get unstuck from her past resentments. Was her father an alcoholic? She might benefit from Al-Anon. She might be surprised to learn that those people she has cut out of her life are probably glad to be removed from her drama at some level. Her resentment is mainly hurting her.
Lisa - happy the tornadoes didn't blow you away. Glad you had such a good visit with your friends and nice that John and Soraya popped down for a bit. Life is back to normal for you now. Any updates on Corey's DB's plans?
It's already nearly 80 here - no yardwork for me today. Grass still has a lot of moisture anyhow.
Lanette
SW WA State2 -
Lanette - DD got some great pictures of the lights from our back patio but we were out after 11 pm and she went back out about midnight. They are supposed to be even better tonight. You need to use night mode on your camera phone to get the intense colors. It has something to do with the rods and cones in your retina that you don't see the more intense colors with the naked eye.
DD and I are going to run some errands and then she is taking me out to lunch. We are just waiting for the young man who does yard work for us to finish up cutting down the tall stuff on the berm before we go. He is a landscaping student and gives us a discount. Also a friend of DD.
Lisa - so glad you had a good visit with your friend.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA7 -
Tracey - Great photos! Apparently people could see them here too with a camera! I noticed nothing.
DSIL is going to ring John on Monday as she is away for the weekend. John and I had a good chat when he got home. So far, she texts that she is staying strong, despite wobbles.

Lights ... I guess people saw beautiful lights here in Buffalo last night too. I was too tired to get up and look personally, but I'm enjoying everyone's photos. We've had rain today and cloud cover so I suspect this evening's viewing will be limited.
Allie ... Your daughter has a rough road ahead of her, but I anticipate she will never regret her decision to go forward with both babies. The potential to change everyone's lives for the better is there if they embrace it.
Rita ... without realizing it was "Eat What You Want Day," I have managed to do just that. My tongue is still slightly numb (now similar to how it feels when you've burnt it on hot food) from the implant surgery and I find myself scrounging around the kitchen looking for something satisfying!
Today I celebrated Mother's Day with my mom at her facility. They had a Mother's Day Brunch on site. It was a nice brunch and she received a small gift from the staff. I don't know why they keep telling me her appetite is poor ... she ate everything on her plate! My brother had sent flowers yesterday and my husband and I gave her an orchid and violets today (which we'll maintain when we visit) along with candy. She was happy but a little more confused than usual and she tired quickly.
Got my new hearing aid yesterday for the ear without the implant. It's ok. About what I expected as the reason I got an implant is because the hearing aids only amplify noise for me. Still, it has a few more bells and whistles than my old hearing aids (automatically goes to bluetooth with incoming calls on my captioned iPhone, allows for customization in different difficult hearing situations, etc). Its true benefit is supposed to be seen when it pairs with the implant (which will be activated Tuesday). It's definitely going to be a process. Lanette ... I should let you read the surgical notes! Lol!
I plan to stay off of social media tomorrow ... so Happy Mother's Day early to those celebrating in the US.

Afternoon/ evening ya'll
Got laundry through the wash and got the garbage together, Dan stopped and took that out for me..
And I took another little nap.
I hope yes all the rest of her pregnancy is safe..they will be keeping a very close eye on her and she will be going to more frequent appointments.3 -
Beth - I hope your side effects all subside soon for you.
I had a nice visit with Lauryn and the kids. Michaela has been itching for a sleepover so she is coming next weekend for two nights. Saturday and Sunday. I told her she is welcome anytime, she just has to ask.
Jonah hearing this asked if he would be invited anytime, even after midnight after robbing a bank. I told him he would be welcome, his mother told him he better bring bail money because Grammie would turn him in. He was shocked by that idea and I confirmed that yes I would because I love him. I then told him I never want that experience as it would break my heart. Of course, he was just being a smarta$$, he is so good at that.
It is very smoky today from the fires in BC and the northern parts of AB, I don’t think we’ll see any lights tonight.
I just popped in for a minute, I have to go make supper now, we’re having barbecued chicken breast and caeser salad.
