Beth - Glad there's more hope for your mom's situation--my heart goes out to all of you dealing with ailing/aging parents. No easy answers ever, it seems.

Last of the dried towels off the line and folded, sheets and comforter back on the bed... and just as well, as a heavy rain is showing moving in on the radar, and the skies are certainly getting darker by the minute. Wasn't supposed to rain until tomorrow, but it seems they're not accurate even 24 hours out any more... I know I crank on about it, but I could swear it used to be a little better. I can't imagine how anyone who depends on the weather to grow crops here can have any faith in the weather reports. Might as well be reading the Old Farmer's Almanac written at the beginning of each year!

Hanging clothes on the line this morning captured that amazing smell of sun-dried sheets and towels though, and it makes me happy. Took an image of that and the changes in the house outside:
    More adventures in renovation:
You can see in the picture at the top the siding that has yet to come down on the southeastern corner of the house - it was an ivory color once upon a time, but this climate has left it filthy and algae-laden, and it's so old now that a pressure washer will simply cut right through it. Probably 40 years old. Underneath it is more of the T-111 siding that you can see at left on the outside of Corey's sunroom and the back of the house.

We feel very lucky - the house is about sixty years old, and the stone and the wood under the siding has all been in good shape, just some minor repairs and patching. We didn't replace what's on the back of the house, just refreshed the teal paint, and then semi-matched the sunroom cladding to it. Under the siding, it's been that way all the way around. Just a little repair, a little paint, and it looks amazing and gets rid of the incredible spider highway and bug haven that siding becomes. Urk.
    6wfyc3km5go1.png

Ah well, time to put the last of the towels away and make a lemon basil sauce to go with chicken and rice for dinner.

    Later,
    Love,
Lisa in the soon-to-be-rainy Arkansas River Valley

Finally got my iPhone up and working late last night. Fortunately, I had did a backup in February, which helped a little.

Granddaughter flew home to Oxford today. We went to see her yesterday and took her to a local beach she likes after lunch. Beautiful sunny day but a strong wind was blowing from the north. Younger Grandson is home for the summer.

I have my MOT tomorrow morning. Getting an appointment is a nightmare here. It should have been done in mid April.

We are in the throes of a general election here. It’s on 4 July.

I’m sorry I have missed so much. I have read as much as I could, but comments are beyond me tonight.

🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Lanette - my next hip is scheduled 8 weeks to the day. :o
I will probably stay in 2 nights, but some people go home after one. I have a private room with TV etc, so I might as well get what I have paid for. :p They have to be sure I can do stairs, toilet etc.
These days, they get you moving almost straight away.
I'm having a spinal block and sedation, and it's robot assisted. ;)
Just about to have my last snack, then it's just water.

My elder son rang me today. That is truly amazing! :p

    Love Heather UK xxxxxx

here, they are now sending patients home the same day after hip replacement unless there are problems. One friend went home the same day(went in at 5Am and home that afternoon), my best friend spent one night but that was just because her BP was too low or she would have gone home the same day too.
Back years ago when dh had his done(has had 4 total hip replacements), He stayed 10 days for the first one, a week for the ones after that.

On me. I've started a general well-being journal. I have been tracking my health and sleep and even food. I really need to figure out my issues since no medical professional has a clue. There is no obvious link or trigger. I am leaning toward hormones. The other night, I woke up around 3am with pain. I leave heard and read that our hormone levels drop (as well as other things change) around 3am ( or 3pm for shift workers). For more than 20 years, I have been regularly waking up around 3am. So, I believe there is some truth to this.

Time for more coffee. Enjoy the day!

Have you looked into Pudendal Neuralgia?

At some point, when I have more time, I want to go to my Pelvic Physiotherapist and ask her about Pudendal Neuralgia because I think that, at last, it might explain so much.

Interestingly, Telfast (Fexofenadine Hydrochloride) seems to provide me some relief. I take 2 at night, which helps me sleep and eases some of the symptoms I now attribute to Pudendal Neuralgia.

Sometimes when it is really bad, I go with Telfast and Panadol and Ibuprofen. Fortunately, that doesn't happen very often but it used to happen on the day before my periods started, regularly, like clockwork. So yes, I think hormones are linked in there somewhere.

    M in Oz

Fexofenadine Hydrochloride? That is an allergy med. I have some and it has never worked for my allergies. I would never have thought to try it for this. I generally avoid taking any meds unless I just cannot tolerate the pain. I have a rather high threshold for pain. I need to look up pudenal neuralgia. Thanks.

Yes, it is an allergy medicine ... really surprised me that it helped.

Now, in my case, I have a lot of itching and painful tingling down my legs and feet. But the itching in particular is phantom itching. Scratching doesn't help. It's a nerve or set of nerves up in the lower back, pelvic region somewhere.

Maybe the allergy med blocks something at the nerve level??

Allie - The twins from Unsellable Houses both live in Snohomish. Their office and store are both on First St. In Snohomish in the old part of town near the river. We went through Lamb and Co when we bought our place here 9 years ago.

Heather - Hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow and your doctors are great.

Beautiful day here but the cottonwood fluff is flying around like crazy and I could not spend much time outside.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

I talked to the store manager at BK today. She said she doesn’t have a problem with me doing bacon, that it really isn’t difficult. The way we left it was that we’d play it by ear. If she needs me to do that on any day, I would and then just do the tomatoes and onions. I think that the guy who basically did Jerry’s job (the one I liked because he didn’t give me grief over everything) may have quit. I haven’t seen him in a while. Now even tho I haven’t been there much lately, others haven’t seen him. One guy said to me something to the effect that he doesn’t have a way to get to the place. Sounds silly to me. Oh well, I’ll just do what I can do

Tracey – what kind of doctor did you go to about your callous? You general GP or a specialist? If a specialist, which kind? I really like the flowerbeds. When I had the slope on the side of our house done, I told the guy that I didn’t want any juniper. I don’t like it, it’s just too “green”. Well, you won’t believe how much of it he gave me! I’d like to replace at least 4 of the 21 plants with another type, but I keep procrastinating. I think I have to ask someone to help me to just give me the incentive to do it. But first the popcorn needs to get strung

Jenn – hope you are better fast

Lisa and Heather – I, too, like being the first patient. Either the first in the morning or the first after their lunch. That way, they aren’t backed up

Annie – sounds like you have a good plan in place for your dad

Rebecca – your kitchen looks really nice now

Heather – thinking of you and wishing you all the best

Getting ready to go to Steve’s tomorrow.

Heather - It's already past 2 a.m. your time, hope you're able to get a little sleep before you head for the hospital. Hope it's a swift and successful surgery, and a quick and pain-free recovery. Thinking about you.

Allie - love seeing those pictures of SMiles. <3

Debbie - I forgot to mention how impressed I was with your fabulous meat purchase. WOW! That tenderizer looks mighty wicked but gets the job done. :p

Food for the Brain - Nutrition and Dementia Rabbit Hole :p
If anyone is interested, here's a website based in the UK which has a cognitive function test we can take to see how our brain is doing as far as cognitive decline. Once the test is scored, there are recommendations on what we can do to improve brain function over time, such as eating more oily fish, taking Vitamin C & B12 & D, cutting back sugar, etc. I've never eaten mackerel but I found some canned and will give it a try tomorrow night. I try to eat salmon and/or sardines at least twice a week, we'll see how it goes.

It's best to take the test when a person is well-rested and doesn't have any distractions for half an hour or so. I thought this information was interesting because Alzheimer's has been called Type 3 Diabetes and it's believed by some there's a direct link between insulin resistance, high blood glucose levels and Alzheimer's/dementia - and of course, diabetes. The website:

    https://foodforthebrain.org/

Scientist Patrick Holford wrote "Optimum Nutrition for the Mind" and is a presenter in some of the classes on the website. This book looks good but from what I can determine, it's only available from Amazon in the UK right now.

    Here's a video. 11 minutes.
    https://foodforthebrain.org/video-whats-driving-alzheimers-with-patrick-holford/

And here's a 50 minute YouTube interview with Holford by Dr. Campbell. Lots and lots of info here.

My Thoughts are with you Heather!

We got a call from our rental management lady. A guy is coming to jack hammer the driveway. So they're finally repairing the driveway. Half of it is jack hammered and tomorrow he and hopefully some helpers will pick it up, and then he'll do the other side. Fun city, but I have a headache.

Snohomish near the river is SO beautiful. We make sure we check out the whole town when we visit family in Lake Stevens. I am so ready for trip up there(or anywhere for that matter)

Cottonwood around here have just started to fluff- Noticed it today. It wasn't starting last Thursday when I walked the wetlands.

Heather - By the time I post this you will be either sleeping or awake with nerves. I want to wish you the very best tomorrow and hope you have a very speedy recovery.
    I love you my friend.

Lisa - I have seen two ENT specialists so far trying to come up with a way of stopping my snoring, I sleep on my side, they think part of my problem is my tongue is too big for my mouth. (There are people that know me that laugh at this.) Nothing has helped so far. I do need to lose the weight though.
I’m glad you asked about Heather’s posh bacon all I was picturing was a very thick bacon and a pig with heels and a fancy hat that provided it. 🐷👒
You can add me to the list of “doing medical things alone.” It’s just too much for me to worry about how someone else is feeling. Although if I needed it Rodger would be there in a heartbeat.

Our anniversary is coming right up on the 13th, 37 years this year.

Annie - I can hear the relief in your writing that you even have a plan. That’s wonderful.

Lanette - I don’t think I would offer to watch someone’s houseplants, I did watch my neighbours two dogs for a 24 hour period. They are small dogs and I just had to go let them out a couple of time and put food and water out for them. She is a young single mom and had an opportunity to take her son to Drumheller to see the dinosaurs, she had been wanting to take him and it was a free trip for her to do so. I couldn’t say no.

Rebecca - I think the colours complement each other well in your new kitchen.

Michele - My GP diagnosed my plantar fasciitis, she recommended I go to a podiatrist, but we have to pay for them here, they aren’t covered under our healthcare, I have not seen one yet. Just took the advice she gave me about exercises and I’ve done a lot of research on exercises myself. Everything I’ve learned is that it can take 1-2 years to heal properly, mine has about 18 months now, but really bad since October.
There are days I am in tears it hurts so much. I will seek help much sooner if I ever feel a callous again. I ignored it and tried to treat a callous when that wasn’t the problem.

Lanette - I’m going to read and watch that info about Alzheimer’s/dementia and food this weekend.

Rebecca - it’s great they are doing all of the work on your property.

I had a good day at work again today, I’m enjoying this so much.
I hope I find a way financially to make it work.

Not a lot to say tonight, had ceramics and will be heading to bed soon.

Lisa - your place is lovely! Our main concern is medical care when we are older. Does your laundry ever get dusty outside? Our did, so I didn’t hang it. I think it is from all of the evergreen trees. But maybe it’s normal and I just don’t know it.

Machka9 - Is there a concern about caffeine? I drink a ton of coffee daily. It helps me focus.

Grandmaille - that is one cute baby!

I took advil last night to sleep, and that worked great. And then I stretched a bunch at work today. So, I only get stiff if I sit for too long, and my walk tonight was fine. I had three deadlines for work today, so I was up working until midnight last night. I got them done and had a really good 1x1 today, phew. I am going to go to bed early tonight. 6 hours sleep isn’t enough.

For a minute, I thought things were slowing down and I was looking forward to my new project, but I just realized it’s month end (I’m an accountant) and I have all of that to do. With some changes on my monthly reporting portion. I don’t do a lot on that aspect of the financial package, but it’s a change, so it will take longer. Time I do not have, nor want to spend on it. Oh well. I may just work on the project a bit for fun on my own time. Or really, I should start studying for the CPA exam. It’s going to be a pain, but is necessary.

Good morning all. Finally got my devices up and running again. A fraught 2 weeks, and still lots of settling up apps as I had to do factory resets in the end. The upside is that both devices now have the latest operating systems. iPhone is like a new one.

Rebecca: The new kitchen must be such a joy. It looks restful.

Heather: Sending positive vibes for a skilful surgeon and a quick resolution. You’ll be done and home before you know it 😂

Lanette: I looked at the test, but decided against it when it asked for my details, and I saw the shopping bag icon at the top of the page. I’m careful where I put my details so that it keeps the c**p emails at bay.

I have to take my car to Belfast for its MOT this morning. as our local centre was all booked up. It’s 6 weeks late, but it was the earliest I could get when I booked 4 months ago.

🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

John did come with me and I was very grateful. I seem to have more luggage than others! Think I'm going to need more pillows!
I'm in my room and connected to the WiFi. I've ordered sandwich snack for later and dinner for this evening.
Now just waiting for info about when. I might not be first.
Nice room. I can see a tree and some rooves.

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Maybe you're used to going on your cruises, so you packed with that in your subconscious!
