I lost 15 kg by counting calories but thyroidism had ruined everything before I realized! Now I want to lose 20 kg or so in a reasonable amount of time, say a year.
Already lost 5 kg in 30 days on the app but looking for more until I hit my best weight!

Good read, from a (former?) MFP-er who's a scientist in the field, himself hypothyroid, lost weight with calorie counting.
FWIW, I'm severely hypothyroid (medicated).1
