Good morning ladies!
Meg welcome back!
Machka glad you slept better. I think moving is just a huge bout of decisions, which makes constant stress. It may be low level for you, but it's still a strain.
Hi Kylia! We miss you!
Jen in SD welcome! What a cute dog!
Tracey my Dad tends to " help" me drive. I tell myself that hard-core nursing (think nasty bathing) would be so much worse. He is polite and he thanks me every day in this phase. So I can tolerate a little "help".
He is going out to lunch with a friend today. It's precious alone time, but I can barely remember what I wanted to do. I need to take my dog to the vet and dye my hair, but both those things will take too long.
Have a marvelous day ladies! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free.

Morning, my chickens, from the continuing rumble-bumble organic fireworks show that woke me this morning at 4 a.m. I'm SO glad we decided on a house up on the hillside instead of some of the places nearer the river!
Two and a half inches of rain in about six hours yesterday, and it began again about 3 a.m. this morning. Going to be pretty soggy out, but at least it will keep the neighbors from burning more plastic this morning - they started about sunup yesterday.
Did I mention that a friend of theirs backed her car into our fence and smashed four boards on Saturday? They said they'd get the boards and fix them (they're $4 each at Lowes) but I had to shoo their little five-year-old twins away from the jagged, nail-filled hole yesterday. Just at the right height to be fascinating for the tiny people. So frustrating. If they haven't fixed it by this next weekend, we will have to. Grf.
Lost two pounds of the weight I'd gained, so I guess the Skyrizi isn't helping quite as much as I'd hoped... but on the flip side, I lost two pounds, so yay!? 🤷🏻♀️Trying so hard not to hope this third medication works, and it's just not possible. I'm a hopelessly hopeful type person. I even hoped the neighbors would be a good addition to the area... and still have hope that they will. That was FAR too many uses of the word "hope." Hope you don't mind... 😁👀😜
Anyway - Got my blueberry bushes and the vinca planted in the front flowerbed after yesterday's rain, which makes me happy - and the rest of the plants in Corey's garden were quite happy with nature's watering. We'll see how they do with the continued soaking they're going to get this morning. The fig bush has laid down on the grass in protest of the pounding rain from yesterday. Can't see it yet in the early morning darkness, but doubt it will be any happier this morning.
Kylia - So good to see you! Definitely your busiest time of year, we know.
Jenn in PNW - Thank you. I try to look at the world from a funny place.
Jen in San Diego - Welcome!
So glad to be home today and not swanning around with people poking at me in unmentionable places!
That's tomorrow.
Later,
Love,

I wear jeans exclusively. I found a style that fits and is comfortable. But it doesn't matter what kind of clothing it is, finding exactly what I want via internet shopping is a challenge. Going into a store wouldn't be any better except that I'd know sooner that I couldn't find what I want and then not know where to go next. Everything I'm wearing now was purchased online except my hat that was knitted by me from yarn I purchased online. Persistence and patience are required which is true for most of our life situations. I am grateful for the store in my town that accepts UPS and Amazon returns.

Still staying gluten free best I can. Reducing meat... adding more veggies, probiotics, and herbs to diet. Blood pressure down, weight loss two pounds a month now which is fine with me, lost two inches off my waist, and cravings are down.

Aren't you hot in jeans?
It has to be quite a chilly day for me to wear long pants to work otherwise I am roasting hot .. dripping sweat.
I'll likely keep wearing capris and knee-length leggings with skirts throughout this first month of winter.

I started the new gut biome plan with MFP. I see that I don’t get nearly enough fiber, however, with my colitis, I am supposed to have a low fiber diet. Another thing I’m researching right now. Managing these 3 issues is getting harder to get the proper nutrition I need. I may give up and go the prescription route, though I seem to be managing them ok. (Diabetes, colitis, food sensitivities, and kidney issues). Actually 4 different problems of which I have 4 different doctors with 4 different ideas of how to treat me without meds. Phew…. Confusing and tiring. I have my PC appointment Friday to go over my bloodwork. I will adjust my intakes from that result.
It is confusing all the different food recommendations we get these days. Low Fodmap, low carb, high protien, high fiber, low fat, high fat, and on and on. Even the food pyramid has changed and both versions have been challenged. All these ‘expert’ advisors confuse people to no end! I’ll stick to my spreadsheet and MFP. Together, I should be able to stay healthy the rest of my life!

Machka, I am much colder than most people so long pants work for me year round. On an especially hot day, I'll wear a short sleeve shirt. Our weather here is moderate even in the summer.
The puppy just turned the door knob to let herself into the second bedroom so she could lie on the bed and chew on a sock she swiped from a pile of laundry Jake left on the floor. Earlier she was on our bed chewing on a rock she brought in from the yard.
Meg, It's good to see you again. I hope you'll come back regularly.

Just finished my Zoom with my girlfriends, and my son should be returning John in half an hour, and visiting. I have promised I won't go downstairs alone in the house.
I've got some face on, which is nice, and changed my clothes. Walking around is much easier and I can use my crutches in the walk through style, like Nordic poles. I can even get by with one crutch, but the physio told me to wait until I'm not limping. Very little pain.
I've got my physio appointment for the 17th.
Just got to find a way of washing my hair. John may have to turn on his shower for me, as I have no idea how to use it, and then I can have a quick one. (Mine is up steep stairs). The dressing is shower proof, but you are not meant to spray it directly with water.
Tonight is fish and chips delivery.

Meg--Good to see you post. Have missed you.
Lanette--I think you should take Gladys with you as a support chicken. I am surprised at all the dogs I see people taking in stores.
Lisa--I get to go see the gyn doctor tomorrow. I have put it off for almost a month, but the problem is getting worse. I just do not like the idea of them messing around down there.
I had one interview for my job this morning. On the phone she seemed excited, no so much when talking with her. I have another one at 5 this afternoon.

Vicki - I know it's indelicate, to say the least, but supposedly Lady Hillingdon, in her 1912 diary, wrote of her distaste for congress with her husband, "When I hear his steps outside my door I lie down on my bed, open my legs and think of England." So, dear heart, in that tradition, to deal with our gynecology appointments, perhaps we can just put our tiny little heels in the stirrups, lie back, close our eyes and think of England. Or almost anything rather whatever they are doing. It is never pleasant and always disconcerting, to say the least. Sometimes, though, it's the only choice left.
Well, I couldn't convince myself to do yoga, but I did get a solid hour of vacuuming and mopping done at speed. Which I usually hate worst, but when faced with the choice, that's what I chose. At 290 calories in 58 minutes, I barely made 5 calories an hour, but with 74% humidity in the house, I was still sweating like a l'il piglet and exhausted. Cooling down now in order to get in the shower. And... there goes the dryer with the kitchen throw rugs, which were the other reason I ended up vacuuming and mopping. Clumsily dropped my lunch of tuna casserole on one of the rugs, which necessitated a wash, and since I was doing that, I did them all.
Music break, along those lines... I adored Glen Campbell.
Later, babies,

Had my yearly full body scan for skin cancer- All clear. Good for another year.
My original dermatologist got transferred to Oakland so I was assigned a new one- A sweet younger LADY doctor this time.
Going out for tacos with an old friend(she and her family were our neighbors over 50 yrs ago) She is coming down from Oroville, picking up a few of her friends in Vacaville and meeting me at the Mexican place. Will be fun to go out. She said I could invite dh or my friend(he quilts and so does the friend I am meeting-both in same organization but different branches of Piecemakers.
Friend is working and dh isn't invited. He dominates all conversations and I want a chance to visit with her. Haven't seen her in a few years.
Newest kitten is settling in really well. Last night he stayed under the kitty bed and today when I had the rest out for play time, he came to the side of the playpen and just watched. Then played with them in the mini tunnel I put in for them. It is now sleeping ON the kitty bed. I will try and pick him/her up tonight. See how it goes. Have potential homes for 3 of the 4 already

Uncomfortable in the evenings. Especially the wound site. I've been lying on an ice pack, which helps, but I guess the hip is just tired by then. I've taken some more painkillers, so I should be able to sleep.
Nice to see my son, who had some photos of his trip. During one particularly vertiginous ride, he bottled out with vertigo, and got in the van that accompanied them. He brought me some matured goats cheese from the region. Delicious!
Our fish was divine, chips, not so much, but I had a great discount, so not bad. Full price would be too much.
We had fresh cherries with our Basque cheese.
Welcome back, Meg! I've missed you.
The hospital rang me this afternoon, to check on how I was doing.
Yes, gyny stuff is not fun. I've had so much of it in my time. Never one's first choice for a day out.

Hi Gals,
Meg - welcome back
Heather - glad you are coming along so well
Newbies = welcome!
all the pictures - wonderful and who ever posted the sleeping dog, NO it doesn't look comfortable, but dogs (and other pets) sleep in the weirdest positions!
I think I mentioned that I was starting a dog sitting business.. this has exploded! I This weeks doggies.
I love that I am getting a doggy love fix without even leaving my house. I am having to book chunks of time for no dog, so I can come and go and get errands done. Because every week is like the first couple of weeks of having a new pet. they don't know you and you don't know them.

Kim- adorable..its basically rent a dog and getting paid for it 😄

I love him to pieces and will do whatever I can for him ..but its just so hard to so hard to see people you love hurt so much.

Ladies! I enjoyed the pics of pups and peonies! Our peonies were looking splendid before all the bad weather hit.
I do still live in Omaha and yes I teach nursing; nice to be remembered! Things at work are going really well after several years of awful leadership that tore our program apart. But now things are really looking up and I still enjoy it. I just turned 65 in May and don't have retirement on my radar although hubby wishes I would!
We had (don't recall if I told you) about $70K in damages from the tornado and hail storms in April and May. Last night the air conditioner went out, so today had to get a new one. I'll be out of money before the year is over LOL.
I was terribly nauseated last night so slept in the recliner in the den, which is how I heard the AC go out. "Sleep" is an exaggeration; I was awake most of the night. Slowly today the nausea has gotten intermittent and right now is OK. I hope I don't have to put up with this as long as I am on Ozempic. I loved Trulicity (although even on the highest dose it didn't suppress my appetite); but I called a ton of pharmacies and they say they have been told it's out for the year and they won't get any more. I tried Mounjaro several months ago but had to quit because the nausea was relentless and getting worse each week. Today I did well on calories, but not on the healthiest food because I was eating what sounded good at the time.
You all take care. This is two days in a row for me, so let's see if I can build this habit back day by day.
Meg from Omaha where more storms are predicted tonight. UGH8 -
Oh Kim I meant to mention how great it is about your doggie sitting! We always have a house sitter whenever we are away. I'm sure you do love the furry attention! Meg0

Today’s gratitude: no real bad neighbor drama.
Pip, yes she looks comfortable and confident no one will step on her or disturb her.
Machka hadn’t heard the term “nightmare disorder” but the recurrent nightmares I had as a child (and occasionally thereafter) seem to fit. Often said what a relief it was to wake up and get to go to work. ;} ((hugs))
Margaret, bravissima!
Vicki ((hugs))
Barbie turned the knob herself? :noway: what is it about our husbands’ socks that are so irresistible to our pooches?
Debbie so glad you got a sweet younger lady skin doctor this time. After a bad experience I refuse to see a male dermatologist. Hooray for the “all’s clear”!
Heather rejoicing the pain is lessening. Good luck with the shower.
Kim congrats on the new business! Wish you were about 400 miles closer
Arrived 10 minutes before the lab opened, only to find 7 or 8 people in line before me. With only one tech, knew there was no way I’d be able to get home, make breakfast in time to pick T up at the auto shop. Instead indulged in fat breakfast (French toast and bacon) at a local café. NOT the way to fuel better than yesterday. Good long walk with T helped the CI stay < the CO. Now just need to get up and to the PT exercises that I skipped this morning. . . and start the laundry. . . and and and …
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Jenn - glad they couldn't find anything wrong with your son. His symptoms remind me of when I once had an anxiety attack. Docs did the tests, all was OK. Turns out I worried myself into rough shape and have to guard against doing it today. I'm going to look up Cotton the house chicken.
Kim - what a neat business. Look at those sweet doggies. Yes, you get your dog fix and get paid for it too. Great idea.
Heather - nice the hospital called to check on you and your son brought you some delicious goat cheese.
Meg - wow, I didn't know you'd sustained so much damage. Hope that's the end of windstorms and tornadoes for a long, long time in your area. Sorry to hear about the nausea, not fun.
Barbara - grateful for no bad neighbor drama... have you had problems? Hope not.
Neighbor with the houseplants emailed me, they returned late last night. 500 miles in one day bookin' it to get home. She said 3 days into their trip, she went back in the motorhome to make a sandwich while her husband was driving. For some reason he slammed on the brakes and she went flying against the dinette. Big knot on her head, hurt shoulder and thought she might have cracked a rib but surmised it was just a bruise. They kept going and she said she stayed sitting down when he was driving after that. Ouch!
Got a call from the phlebotomist at Dr. Lisa's office today. Dr. Lisa wants me in there to check my A1C, lipids, and CMP if I remember correctly. This time fasting for sure, no more than 1 cup of black coffee. I'm anxious to see if my eating plan and exercise are working. I veer off the "no sugar" from time to time with a couple pieces of dark chocolate, always over 70%. Appointment is next Wednesday at 9:30.
Rainy, windy and all over nasty day. This should be the end of it for a while.

Jenn-strange symptoms with son-hopefully nothing but better to be sure.
Vicki-luckily I did not start feeling sick until she was in bed the last night-really hit when I got home. Finally feeling better (mainly)
Pip-your kids just always look stinking cute!
Barbara AHMODdon't think I am classifies as immune fragile exactly. My thyroid cancer is at a detectable level and we keep monitoring but I'm not on a specific treatment yet. But-it does take me longer to bounce back! (Plus, my youngest son was 3 when I was first diagnosed. Bless my kids-the thyca really isn't part of their conscious thought!
Beth-don't blame you for clearing out Mom's current room.
Annie-no need to be insulted-your dad is similar to my brother-they look like them and they sound like them but much of the talk is not them.
Good visit with family. Got medical power of attorney set up for SIL. Brother handled changes well. He thanked me for arranging POA because he said his wife needed it done. He is still in there and thinking. I had to remind other two brothers not to correct him-unless he is doing something dangerous, we just need to slip into what world he is in. He does not remember he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's but he has told me multiple times that he has broken his brain real good.
Oh-and to end my weekend-soon before family arrived, I hopped in shower. Went to put something up on shelf in shower (I knew it was getting unstable), pulled it down, it cut right into my forearm. Called eldest brother who was getting ready to drive over-told him to stop and get bandages, etc. Got my bandaged up a bit-we had pizza and salad and a good visit for a couple of hours. Everyone left-eldest brother and SIL took me to ER for 6 stitches. No real pain but the cut was indeed deep.
On that happy note I am off to bed. Made it through full day's work today but still a bit tired.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio
