As a child (elementary age) I have several phobias... like panic-attack level or 'stay up all night worrying' type phobias. Thunder was the worst but I got over it in one day. Our metal shed was knocked down during a vicious storm and my Dad had the brillliant idea to go fix it during the storm, while holding a huge metal MagLite! He made me watch him thru the window in case I needed to call 911. It was a night storm and lightning was so frequent that he didn't even need the flashlight. I cried and bawled like a lil b!tch, but I watched him the whole time and was cured.
I also had other phobias that didn't really affect my day-to-day life: poisionous animals (gila monsters, scorpions, etc.), being taken hostage, etc. They were literally forgotten at random times.

The only ongoing phobia I have I'm actively working through right now. I allowed a rollercoaster phobia to deny me a lot of fun for the past 30+ years! I would ride the kiddie rollercoasters (e.g. 20-30 foot drop), but nothing 'man-sized'. Last month I got on the Shockwave (stand-up coaster) at Kings Dominion. When I got off of it I was all like, "Really? That's all there is?!" I've gotten season passes at least 25 times and this was the first REAL rollercoaster I've EVERY been on! So much time wasted over a fear with no known genesis. I kept it secret for decades until I found out that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has the same phobia!

I'm not yet ready for the Intimidator 305, but I already have a plan to work my way up to it:

not sure if its a fear, or just a little bit abnormal,
but i wont touch mushrooms, wont prepare food off a side contaminated by mushrooms being prepared previously on it, and wont eat with someone if they have mushrooms on their plate, seriously freaks me out
basically mushrooms are a no go

This - except it's fruit for me. I absolutely fear fruit.

    ...and larvae.

Birds is not an irrational fear. They are truly awful. They could peck you, scratch you with their talons, flap you wit their wings, poop on you or heaven forbid land on you. Gross.

Waking up and no longer being blonde..I have had legit nightmares about this.

I do not have any issues with dark hair, but getting this blonde is a nightmare in itself and I will not lose 7-8 inches of hair again!

I also cannot eat whole chicken parts like wings, breasts, etc, nor can I eat it with the skin on it. It resembles the chicken when it was alive too much, and it freaks me out. Oddly, I can eat hot wings, but only the drumettes. Lol, I really hope I qualify on the crazy/hot scale!

Tornadoes! When I was younger my family and I was traveling and I was in the backseat. A storm hit and a HUGE black tornado was following behind us and being so small that tornado looked even bigger. If a storm is coming I am fine and actually love listening to rain and thunder but if they say anything about tornadoes, I am crying in the bathtub. lol My ex husband found this a perfect time to over exaggerate what was going on outside just so I would freak out and he could laugh! Jerk. :P

I am also not too fond of clowns because of a recurring dream I had and my mom scaring me half to death after watching "IT" at a young age. lol I am not totally scared of them but they do NOT look cute to me, they're creepy as hell!
  • I have a crazy fear of spiders. My fiance makes fun of me all the time because I make HER kill the spider when I see one. I'd rather go hide in a closet somewhere. Thankfully, she's a kickass lady and she'll just sigh and get a shoe.

I know, totally not manly, right?

Also, I hate when people try to take pictures of me. That's mostly the reason why I have no profile picture. Probably because I smile creepily. Haha.

Chickens. They look like they should have been with the dinosaurs. I don't trust birds that don't fly. Penguins are strange to me, but at least their water is adorable.

I would rather be locked in a room to fight with a 10' alligator than a 2' snake of any kind. I would atleast have a fighting chance with the alligator.......the snake would freak me out bad! The only good snake is a dead one.

Cicadas- when I was around 7 our area had a huge cicada hatch and I remember going outside putting my hand on a tree (not paying attention) and I heard crunching. There were shells all over the tree. So really just the icky shells they leave behind are creepier than the actual live bug.

There's a pizza place that makes a cicada pizza when they hatch out.

    Cicada pizza....yum...how deliciously traumatizing!

I always wanted a pet snake, so being poor and unable to buy one, I caught a 5 foot black snake. I called my mom, told her it was a baby, about 1 foot long (she doesn't like them). I put it in a box and walked into town waiting on my mom to come get me and one of the coolest guys in town asked me what was in the box, so I showed him and he ran away screaming like a baby.

completely afraid of driving: the whole getting in an accident, or getting lost, or cutting someone off... any of it and all of it. Yep..
  • Getting a haircut used to make me nervous so I just learned how to do it myself.

I too, suffer from this. Because of an accident that landed me in the hospital (a taxi driver ran two red lights and struck me), I now panic to the point I freeze up and exhaust myself. I do believe I have PTSD from the accident and it literally causes me to get sick to my stomach every time I get in a vehicle. Hope you'll overcome this fear and not let it control your life like it has done to me.

Sleeping with my neck and feet exposed in the darkness. God knows what my parents were thinking, letting me watch Nosferatu and Salem's Lot as a kid

Oh, thank the gods! I'm not alone in the fear of losing my teeth. Seriously, I have reoccurring nightmares about loose or missing teeth. I'm sure it means something...

I've also got a severe phobia of leeches and earwigs. I will not get in a lake, brook, pond, stream, puddle, ANY WATER until it's been cleared as "leech-free".

one godmother was terrified of birds, the other of cats and my mom of large dogs. So I feel my dislike of heights is no big deal. Weather does not scare me, I am from Oklahoma!

MF'N cave crickets. Seriously. I can handle snakes, crocs, gators, spiders, and pretty much any other creepy crawler you can imagine. I have kids so vomit and poop don't really phase me anymore (I hate it, but I deal). But cave crickets.... sweet mercy I hate them! HATE! And my cats think it is terribly funny to bring them in the house, rip off their legs one by one, and let those creepy suckers hop all over the place. BLECH!

when waiting for subways or trains, i stand well away from the yellow line bc i'm worried i'll fall. or that some psycho might do something stupid and shove me in front of them.

otherwise my fears are totes reasonable (heights, probably snakes though have not had the chance to fear them)

oh wait also driving over/through bridges & tunnels. i don't entirely trust they won't cave bc some idiot forgot to put in a nut.

and merging onto the highway, similar worry about crazed/careless/aggressive people (but had an accident that prompted that one).

Heights, because I broke my back after falling off of a 10' zipline. Bridges, because I have had soo many nightmares about going off of one. Nightmares about my teeth falling out like shale...shiver. Feet, even my own kids', can barely cut their nails. Let me see, what else......spiders (naturally), crowds, buildings more than 3 stories high, and trampolines. Trampolines? I just imagine bouncing off to my demise. Lol......
  • Butterfly's. Horrid creatures.

Last night I was doing the dishes, and the sink started filling up with water. All the sudden I see this big spider swimming in it trying to get to the side! I was all like OH HELL NO! So I sprayed water on top of it and forced it back under and it drowned. When it was floating at the top upside down, I called my son into the kitchen and made him scoop it out with a plastic cup. He tried to put the cup back in the sink! Throw that shniz away, boy, there was a spider in it!
