A New Me in 2024!

Hi, Thanks for reading this, and having me in your group/ My name is Linda. I am married, retired (65) and living in sunny South Carolina. I started using My Fitness Pal in February for tracking calories, because I was lousy at doing it myself. It helps to show me where I can make a little more improvements in my diet. I gained about 50 lbs after menopause. I have been a Type 1 diabetic since I was 8 years old, but that education they gave me then has changed so much. Watching the numbers in the food diary has helped a lot. I have lost 20 lbs so far, and my goal is to lose 30 more. My exercise consists mostly of walking, and my goal right now is 7000 steps a day. Some days I make them, some days I dont. I also do gardening. When I tried changing things before, I let every setback discourage me. Now, if I things don't go well in this journey, I just get up the next day and try to do better. It is nice to see that we all share our problems here and get to encouragement from each other. I am looking forward to meeting others in the group. Good Luck, Everyone.

Hello Linda. My name is Sharon and your story resonates with me. I too am married, retired (65), potter in the garden, and try to walk daily. Having a dog helps with getting my steps in. I’m not new to MFP but I haven’t used it for a few years. I too gained weight post menopause and when I stepped on the scale and almost hit 150lbs I decided I had to do something about it. I’m only 5’2” and carrying too much weight on my joints causing issues. I’m determined to lose 25lbs and get back into most of the clothes gathering dust in my closet. Let’s encourage each other.
