I'm aiming to lose about 5-8kg and I like lots of fruits and vegetables, but I realllyyy can't get myself to willingly eat salad or tomatoes. Idk what it is about them, probably the texture for tomatoes, but I just can't. Could someone give me tips to kinda "trick" myself into eating more of it? I know it's one of the best volume foods and is almost essential for weight loss so help me out pls

My advice? Eat the veggies you like. There is nothing magical about salad, or tomatoes.
The veggies you like and eat are better for you than the lettuce you didn't want anyway.8 -

Not essential at all. Lots of other vegetables to choose from. And even vegetables in general aren't essential for weight loss, although they are obviously important for health and can help you feel full.2 -
I'm with the folks above: If I didn't like them, I wouldn't eat them.
If you like other veggies and fruits, eat those instead. You say you like lots of veggies and fruits. There are veggies that are high volume and low calorie that aren't tomatoes or a standard green salad. If you like some of those, eat those instead.
If you ask me, life is to short to eat yucky things. Also, being overweight is not a sin we need to expiate by suffering. Eat tasty things. That makes weight loss easier.7 -
It doesn't matter what you eat but how many calories you consume. If your favourite food was chunks of butter you'd still lose weight as long as you are in a calorie deficit. There's also no need to eat salad or tomatoes if you don't like them. Eat what you like, be happy, lose the weight, continue eating in a way that fits you.1

I used to also not like salads because the cold crunchy aspect of Romaine lettuce wasn’t appealing to me and didn’t like raw tomatoes or cucumbers. I tried mixed greens and instead added berries(strawberries, blueberries, or blackberries) and let it sit out on the counter for a while to avoid the cold crunchiness texture. Now I eat salads like this all of the time. There are different types of lettuces or greens you could try and various toppings that you may enjoy.2

All of you have help me feel so much better about this- I don't eat much and am not very overweight, but I'd like to lose some minimal fat and overall weight because I do judo. Weight categories are important and at my age if you're 78+kg (im 77-78), you can get put in a match with someone much, much heavier so it's always nice to be safe of that2

Tell me more about this chunks of butter diet.
Sounds intriguing. 🤔1 -
You don’t need to eat salad at all if you don’t like it. I hate raw tomatoes and I’m sick of eating salad. I cut up raw carrots, cucumber, and red peppers and eat those instead. I don’t like celery or mushrooms.
Life is too short to eat food you don’t like.1 -
Tomatoes aren't obligatory- but all tomatoes are not created equal. I am very fussy about them and won't eat massive pale coloured ones. Some lovely cherry toms though
Salad doesn't have to be raw, try roasting some mediterranean veg, peppers/courgette/onions with a nice herb mix and mixing into grains.0 -
I like sliced mini-bell peppers (always more flavorful than big ones) and carrot on greens with Japanese style ginger salad dressing. No tomatoes are present.0

My advice is to not make yourself eat foods you don't like. Eat what you like, plus what you know you need (healthy fats, fiber, protein, carbs, micronutrients) from as much whole food as you can. Making dressings you like can both make the salad you may want to eat taste better while adding lots of the stuff you need anyway....but I mean, there's no reason you HAVE to eat lettuce or tomatoes if you don't like them. They don't have anything special you can't get elsewhere. I often make myself 'salads' that only contain the veggies I like (no lettuce or greens at all).0

Why eat something you do not like?🤷🏾♂️0

You could always blend the greens in a shake… if you are looking for ways to get them in diet. I drink most of mine.0

You've been here long enough to know full well that the advice was not meant like that. I don't see what you hope to accomplish by posting a reply like that.
As I'm sure you know, it is possible to have a healthy AND tasty diet, except perhaps those people who have a very restricted list of foods they find tasty and those foods are all 'junk'/ treat foods (which clearly isn't the case for OP since she likes lots of fruits and vegetables).

I'd just skip salad and tomatoes all together. You can have roasted vegetables, or I like to do veggies and hummus for a snack. I have it about 4 times a week. I do Mexican cuisine a lot and I like to put corn and black beans in that. I also makes sushi bowls and put cucumber in it.1
