There is no magic to IF regarding fatloss and is not a good approach when attempting to build muscle.

A calorie deficit and attempting to simultaneously trying to build muscle is an exercise in futility most of the time so better to define a goal of either fatloss and muscle retention or concentrating on adding muscle.

You can't build muscle on a deficit.

Yeah, Tom is right. Building muscle is about providing the material for that to happen which won't happen in a calorie deficit. Can it happen in certain circumstances, sure, muscle memory, new to weight training but for all intense and long term purposes, it's futile. The IF aspect can effect our satiety hormones and some people can lose extra weight by not eating as much food which is also subject to, under ideal conditions, but that has nothing to do with adding muscle mass. imo
