@AmunahSki about zone 5... you might have a naturally slow HR and 172 might be next to impossible for you. My resting HR used to be in the upper 30s, but as I have gotten older it has creeped into the mid-hi 40s. My zone 5 is 145 and above.
So you may have to customize your zones.
@polskagirl01 - nice to hear to from you and to see you. That's a huge pumpkin!
Congrats on the 100-day streak @tarun_yadavA!
Went for a test run in my brother's neighborhood. It went fairly well. No real pain, but was pretty winded. There are some pretty good hills here, and I forgot to take my asthma pill before, so that probably contributed to it. But great weather around 50F!

I did my drill workout on the treadmill "early" this morning. I ran the cadence drills at 7.1/4.0 mph. I also did 5 of these instead of 4 because I hit the stop button on the watch instead of the segment button. The glides were 6.0/4.0 and the rest was at 5.5/4.0 mph - I may have done a couple of minutes at 5.0 mph. I don't really recall. The average pace for the run was 12:20 min/mile. My avg HR was 133 with a max of 159 bpm.5 -

It was chilly this morning at 48°F. The moon was beautiful and it was a great day for a run. I wore shorts and a t-shirt, but I did get my gloves out. The plan called for a 7.5 mile interval run. Two miles warm up followed by 4x100 meters and then 9x400 meters. I think I did really well. I ran all the slow portions too fast, but I think my settings are off in the app. It has me running 13:50-16:00 for the slow portions. I ran most of them at 11:15- 12:15. And the fast parts called for 9:25-10:30. I ran the 100 m intervals at about 8:15-8:55 and the 400 m intervals at around 9:15-9:55. So I still think I had a good interval run.

Morning all
Got in 7.0 at 10"12.
Thanks again @Scott6255 ... And good luck for the weekend.
Thanks @Mari33a
My youngest passed that 11+ test from a few weeks ago. So went out for a heavy meal last night (yes, 3* beers were had before and during Apps)6 -

Well, after my 2nd cadence/ acceleration-glider drill today, I am learning a LOT about pace, cadence and effort! Looking forward to putting it into the ‘long’ run this Sunday (it’s only 1 mile!). I won’t make my target at these rates, but never mind
My Altra Torin 7’s (and calves) feel good after the first couple of runs - I have wide feet, and they were initially tight in places until a friend sent some tips about different lace techniques (image below in the spoiler for anyone who is interested) which was mind-blowing… it never crossed my mind to tie them any other way than as they arrive out of the box. Amazing stuff! I passed a deer today, which unusually stood and watched me run by instead of disappearing into the woods… I think it was waiting to see what was chasing me, happy that it wasn’t chasing them!

Had a good run this evening. I had planned 3.5 miles but the forecast is giving a lot of rain for the next 2 day and I really want to hit my 60 goal. I also did 12.5miles on my bike this morning so was wasn’t expecting to be able to run as much but felt good.
@Scott6255 - Good luck for your race& hope ur brother is recovering well!5 -
Good luck @Scott6255 and @AlphaHowls! Looking forward to your race reports and seeing some bling!4

That sounds like a great interval run @kgirlhart !
Nice run after a heavy meal and drink @tarun_yadavA . Congrats to your son, again!
@AmunahSki Great job with the plan. I found out about the different shoe lacings with I bought my first pair of running shoes and took them back to the store because they weren't feeling right. The people in the store showed me how to relace them and they were fine. It is amazing that you never hear of this with anything other than running shoes, but you could probably use the same lacing with other types of shoes.
Way to run longer when the weather is good @Mari33a !
Good luck on your races tomorrow @Scott6255 and @AlphaHowls !5 -

I went to the gym this morning before heading for work. I got a PR for the Bench Press of 60 pounds. Only one rep, but it was a PR!
After I got home, I did a sleasy run on the driveway. My avg pace was 13:14 min/mile. Splits were 13:43, 13:20, and 11:00 min/mile. Avg HR was 136 with a max of 157 bpm.
New shoe porn in the spoiler.
I actually thought I had purchased a different color, but I like these. They match my Garmin band.

Thanks everyone! Brother is doing well. He is getting around pretty good on his crutches. Still in some pain, but it is mostly in the muscle that they cut in his thigh to get to his hip.
He was adamant that I NOT wear his number. He thought that he would feel like an imposter or something. His doc said he probably won't be able to run again. He acted like he was ok with that, but I know deep down that I was a hard truth to hear.
Still haven't decided my plan for tomorrow. I think it will be a gun time decision.
Good luck to you @AlphaHowls. You got this. Don't stress. You do this EVERY DAY!6 -

It wasn't as cool this morning as it was yesterday. But it was still quite nice. I ran 6.25 miles. It was a good run. Kind of speedy,
but kind of easy. This week has been really stressful at work so I am really glad that I had some good runs this week. Tomorrow will be a rest day. I am looking forward to sleeping in.

Race time 2 hours 30 minutes
Start time 8AM CST
Waiting for caregiver to get here. I did not go up to Hopkinsville yesterday for packet pickup. Too much going on, things to get done. I will get there a little early and get my number and shirt. Both pairs of shoes hit over 1000 miles this week, so picked the Saucony to have the privilege to race today. I run fasted, so have not had anything to eat since yesterday 7 PM.
I really appreciate the cheers! Thank you so much! @kgirlhart, @Scott62556 -

Enjoy the race @AlphaHowls !!
I’m cheering you on in spirit!2 -
How many of us have had Drs tell us we will never run again? I might be in the group. I have a rod in my right femor from a spiral fracture in 97. Staples on my interior med coll ligament and no acls in either knee. I tore my meniscus at some point. I think that we just end up trying and doing what we can. So I guess my point is that sometimes prognosis can change over time.
Best of luck with races today everyone. And was interesting to see the different lace techniques. Altho honestly my favorite shoes are slip on. 🙃6 -

Good luck today @Scott6255 and Jennifer @AlphaHowls !
@quilteryoyo thank you! ... Nice shoes5 -
Cheering you on @AlphaHowls ! I don't know how you run a HM fasted though. I'd have any energy at all.
Cheering you on too @Scott6255 ! I'm glad your brother is healing well and hope the pain he is in goes away soon. I do agree with @summerskier for both him and @daria0919 . Things can change and maybe get a recommendation to see a orthopedic that is a runner. When I had my back issues, I had one doctor tell me that because of my scoliosis I was going to be a humped over old lady and that I needed to stop running, and if I did at all, to be sure to run on a soft surface - like grass. I saw another one for a second opinion because I was in tears from the first diagnosis. Thanks to @Teresa502, I found one that was a runner. When he came in, he said I had mild scoliosis and there was no reason that I couldn't run and the only exercise I needed to be leery of was sit-ups. He said the worst thing I could do was to quit being active. Since my back quit hurting, I haven't had any issues from running. I know every situation is different, but it's worth a second opinion once your brother heals from the surgery.
Great run @kgirlhart . It's nice to have a speedy, easy run. We need a word for that. We have sleasy for slow and easy. Maybe speasy?
@SummerSkier You have been through a lot! Now I am more impressed than ever that you run like you do!4 -
Great running @Scott6255 💪🏽2

2024 Peachtree Classic 15K:
For the last 9 years that I have run this race we just walked out my brother's back door and we were a few hundred feet from the start line. But he moved a couple months ago, so it is a 40 minute drive now.
The weather was perfect for running, about 51F and light wind. I decided to go ahead and race since I may not run it again. Started out faster than I normally do. The first 3 miles were sub 8 min/mi. I am not nearly in the shape I was in past years, and I felt it. After 3 miles I was struggling. Stomach was hurting and was huffing and puffing. Felt like walking, but didn't let myself do that. Just tried to hang on for the last 6.3 miles.
I think I tied for the worst time for this race, 8:14 pace, but got 3rd in AG. Last year set a PR, and got 4th. So I guess you never know. 64th out of 376 overall. A little race bling.

@Scott6255 Great running. Love the medals. Congrats on 3rd place in your AG. Like you said, you never know, so you just do your best and let the medals fall where they may.

57.30/80 mile goal
Today's plan called for 10 min warm up, 10 mile run, 10 min cool down. I aimed for 10 miles total and managed to do that. I did count my warm up and cool down 10 min as a walk (at 3.8 mph). The rest I thought I would try running/walking for 1/1 min. For most of the run, I did 5.0/4.0 mph. I did walk a couple of times for 5 min at 3.6 mph while I drank some water and ate a gummy. I walked an extra 5 min at 4.0 too and part of the last running was at 4.5/4.0. My avg pace was 13:58 min/mile. The actual "running" portion was 13:42 min/mile. Avg HR was 130 with a max of 140 bpm. Overall, I was happy to get it done...watched 2.5 episodes of Bones.
The Jeff Galloway plan I am following is a bit odd, I think. It just has running 30 min or so twice a week, then the long runs, which started out at 3 miles, but seems to have quickly increased to 10 miles +. I think it is good that I am actually running more days and a bit more miles, or I fear it wouldn't be pretty.5 -
Half Marathon
2:01:58.8
47th out of 139
10th Female Place out of 67
2nd Place Age F50 - 54
Pace 09:18
1St place F50 - 54 was 14 minutes ahead, 3rd place was two minutes behind me.
I found me a spot early and stayed quiet, I had to pull away from the 'talkers'. I had to throttle myself a few times around mile 6 because I would spot the next runner and work to get passed them. After mile 9, I was pretty much by myself, I could see someone in the distance. A couple of times, there was someone right on my heels. Whoever it was, I lost them at mile 10 when I picked up speed uphill.
I inhaled about 8 pancakes and water at the finish line. Thank you so much for well wishes, it meant a lot to me.Mr. Great Legs, actually met him at the race in 2021 because I was staring at this legs. He is from Paducah, KY, where I was bornEarly Morning, just pulled in and going to get my bib and shirt.
39°F at 0500, 43 °F by 0800 to 60°F by my finish time
I am wearing compression shorts, I know I will not be cold long, but I did shake for a bit.
Shirt and medal
