@quilteryoyo you have a good memory..or it happens so frequently it is becoming routine. Either way, yes I did a 5 mile TM run today. Even wore a calf sleeve to support it. It felt ok

Oct total: 31.2/125 miles
YTD: 805.9/1200 miles
10/5: 6 miles
10/6: 4.1 miles
10/7: 5 miles
10/10: 6 miles
10/11: 4.1 miles
10/12: 6 miles
Got it done. Not even 2 miles in, I just didn't want to do it. I made a turn, went down a side road and figured I'd see how I felt when it looped back out to the main road. That got me close enough to my planned mileage that I figured I might as well finish it. It wasnt all bad. I had little bits of time where things felt ok but mostly it was blegh. I walked more than I would have liked. At least the weather was nice and I got outside for a while.
We had a mountain of mulch delivered so yesterday I started shoveling and wheelbarrowing it to beds yesterday. I only did 5 loads worth and my arms are sore today! I did some leaf blowing after my run. Once it cools off a bit I'll do some more mulch redistribution.5 -
01/10 3.84 miles

The wind was really strong & really cold but my energy seems to have returned so enjoyed.5 -
Took my mom shoe shopping today and somehow I ended up with two new pairs of running shoes. I really don’t need any now but they were 30% off so I couldn’t resist. Always good to have some in reserve!Brooks Ghost

Great run @kgirlhart ! Amazing pace.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . I still haven't unboxed my shoes.
I'm glad the TM run worked and your calf felt okay today @Scott6255 .
Way to get it done @martaindale ! Wheelbarrowing mulch is hard work! "Only 5 loads?" That's nothing to sneeze at.
Glad you enjoyed your cold run @Mari33a .
Hahaha @Teresa502 . It's amazing how that happens. Love the new shoes!4 -

35.95/80 mile goal
I had planned to go on a trail run with the people from the gym today, but I wound up bailing. I was having some mild tummy issues and, when I got to the gym, no one else was going to be doing a slower, shorter run - they planned on 15 miles today! I had looked at reviews from the trail, and it seemed that part of it was overgrown and hard to locate, so I didn't want to do that alone. There are some trails they do that I would go and just do part of and not worry, but not this one.
I was having a hard time getting motivated to do the planned 3 mile run + 1/2 mile fast on the driveway. I decided to try running in my neighbor's field and call it my own little trail run. That was the motivation I needed. It wasn't an easy run. I did the warm up on the driveway and then headed into the field/trail. They had bush hogged a path all around their property about a month ago, but the grass had already grown up and was pretty deep in spots. That made running hard. Plus, there were walnuts on the ground in a couple of places that I had to look out for. AND, I face planted when I tripped over a tree staub from the bushhogging. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt. It was sort of slow motion and I fell mostly on my right forearm. I was able to lift my head before it hit the ground, so only barely scrapped my chin on the fluffy grass. Needless to say, I walked quit a bit and the run was slow - avg pace of 15 min/mile. I did the last part of the run on the driveway/road. I hadn't planned on actually doing the fast half mile, but I was feeling okay, so decided to run, but not push it. I was surprised that the pace for that was 11:12 min/mile. My avg HR was 130 with a max of 155 bpm.7 -
@quilteryoyo glad you didn't get hurt on your fall! Way to hang in there.
@Teresa502 always good to grab a pair or two of shoes when you find them on sale. But I thought you weren't a Brooks fan anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯2 -
Glad you weren't seriously hurt @quilteryoyo! Good job finishing the run.
Nice shoes @Teresa502. You really couldn't not get them.4 -
Target 50 miles/80.45k
2 Oct: 4.86mi/7.8k
4 Oct: 4.22mi/6.79k
7 Oct: 2.36mi/3.78k
9 Oct: 3.13mi/5.03k
12 Oct: 3.15mi/5.06k
Total 17.72mi/28.51k
Yesterday was parkrun day! 8 degrees but bright and dry - running into the wind in places (especially the uphill bits… of which that was about half the course, grrr!), which was blowing in from the North Sea.
Garmin declared my 5k over before I got through the finish gate, so I hit ‘Continue’ as I didn’t want Garmin or Strava to have any reason to say I hadn’t completed the course - then I had to walk through the finish 'funnel' anyway. I got a slew of PB’s, but my finish time isn’t easy to establish
Garmin 34:38 (3.15mi/5.06k)
Strava 33:57 (5k)
parkrun 34:23 (5k)
My goal when starting was to run 5k without walking, so I am very, VERY happy with any of these results!!

1m: 10:35 (previous 10:37)
2m: 21:41 (previous 21:42)
5k: 33:57 (previous 34:39)
Longest run/walk - 5.33mi/8.57k
Longest run - 4.63mi/7.44k8 -
Congratulations on your PRs @AmunahSki!1

A friend and I ran 10 miles this morning. She had a bicycle wreck yesterday and looked pretty rough but even with a splint on her hand that has a hairline fracture, she still came and outran me! It was a nice, crisp morning. The sun was shining and it was 45F at the beginning.
@quilteryoyo - Sorry about the fall but glad you weren’t seriously injured. I bet Tippy loved the trail running!
Congratulations @AmunahSki! Well done on your 5k!4 -
Well done @AmunahSki!! Congrats!

Congratulations on your PBs @amunahski! Fantastic job!
Today the plan had more speedwork. It was either a race or simulated 15K. Since I didn't have a race planned I did the workout Hal prescribed. It started with one mile warm up then 4x 100 meter intervals and the 9.3 miles at 15K pace and a half mile cool down. I ran the warm-up and cool down faster than the goal and I was a little faster on the fast part of the intervals, but I was spot on for the 9.3 part. And Hal didn't scold me, but said great workout. I did have a little glitch at the start of the workout when I realized that when I edited the run I never sent it to my watch, so I started out running the wrong workout. Luckily I was still in the warm up phase and I was able to stop and send the correct workout to my watch. But I ended up with 2 runs today. The first was .41 mile and the second was 11 miles.

Hey Team. Sorry, I’ve been MIA. Last week was a rough week at work. More frustrating than anything. So, I didn’t run/walk at all for I was just emotionally drained. Yes, I know run/walking would have relieved my stress. I was just too tired. Yesterday, I slept until almost 10:30 in the morning. I haven’t slept in that late in years. But, I guess my body needed the rest. Well, I got in 9 miles today, but it was tough run/walk. But, at least I got it done. Praying this work week is better. 🙏🏾 Everyone, have a good night.8

Morning all.
Got in 4.12M at 09"54.
Wet.
2 more to go to 100 streak6 -
Congratulations on such a great 5K @AmunahSki . You did great regardless of which timing you believe.
You don't even look tired!
Thanks @scott6255, @kgirlhart , @tarun_yadavA , @Teresa502 , @martaindale , @Mari33a .
Great long run @Teresa502 ! I'm glad your friend wasn't hurt worse and amazed that she ran with a freshly fractured arm. Tippy loves running in the field, but she usually gives up and I see her when I get done. She is more of a sprinter than a long distance runner.
Sounds like a fantastic run @kgirlhart ! You know it's great when Hal says it's good.
@steviebee888 Sorry your work was so stressful last week. I do hope this week is better for you. Nine miles is a long run after a break.
Great streaking @tarun_yadavA .3 -

38.3/80 mile goal
I didn't post yesterday. I did my normal Sunday walk after church and before lunch. I did walk on the treadmill because it was a bit chilly for me to just walk.
I went to the gym this morning. Got a new PR on the deadlift of 110 pounds for 5 reps.
After the gym, I had a doctor's appointment to follow up on that cough I had for 3 months. It's almost gone, so we're just going to stick with the acid reflux medicine and nasal spray, as he thinks it is irritation from those two things.
I worked and ran an errand for mom. After I got home, I had a lot of things I needed to get done, so did those and then walked on the treadmill while I watched Jeopardy. I didn't want to run that late and get all sweaty and hyped up.
I'm going to be working a lot this week and next, so it is going to be tricky figuring out how to get all of my runs/exercise in. I think I have a plan. We shall see.

I ran 3.12 miles this morning. It was nice and cool at about 60F. I don't know if it was the nice weather, or the fact that I was a little pressed for time, but I was speedy this morning. I ran the 5K in 30:29 with an average pace of 9:46. It was a nice but uneventful run. It has seemed really dark lately in the mornings.

Morning all
Got in 5.0 miles at 09"28 pace.
Onto 996 -
Dang @tarun_yadavA what a streak you have going. Very impressive!
Trying to do everything I can to get to the start line on Saturday. Calf stopped feeling tight last night, so just wanted to be safe and did a 6 mile run on the TM. Started tightening up on the last 2 miles. Worst case I will do a slow run with my niece on race day.

Well, my running days are basically over.
Saw ankle/foot specialist this morning. My lifetime of having very flat feet has caught up with me. The PTTD can’t be reversed she said. Best case is to stop it from getting worse so as to avoid surgery. Plan is to get the tendon to calm down, so in a boot for next 4 weeks to start. 😞
I have to wear the boot with every step I take until my next appointment.
Bye bye 8K training and 8K race in November.
I’ll still pop in to visit this group, but won’t be posting mileage.
10 -
@daria0919 I'm so sorry to hear about your PTTD. I looked that up. Didn't know a lot about the course of it. I hope you're able to avoid surgery and sorry to hear you won't be able to run anymore.1
-
@daria0919 oh no! Very sorry to hear that 😥 You have to do whatever you can to stay healthy. Will miss you!!!2

Oct total: 40.5 miles

10/6: 4.1 miles
10/7: 5 miles
10/10: 6 miles
10/11: 4.1 miles
10/12: 6 miles
10/14: 4.2 miles
10/15: 5.1 miles
Posting 2 runs. Yesterday I did a short run in the hill country before coming home. I was able to actually run all the hills. It wasn't fast but I was able to take the increased exertion without maxing out.
Today I skipped my planned interval run. I could tell it was out of my reach but I wanted to push a little so I did a modified tempo run. After the warm-up I upped the intensity a little without focusing on the pace. I went to the neighborhood trail which also helped to make the intensity a little higher. Again, it wasn't fast, but faster than the very easy pace I've been at for last several months. Just enough to make me breath harder and really feel my heart beat but not enough to make me feel wiped.
I am going to the Dr next week to get labs done. In the meantime I'm making some adjustments to my schedule. I'm removing my monthly goal. It's an unnecessary reminder of what I'm unable to do right now. I'm hoping there will be something out of whack that can be fixed. My biggest fear right now is long COVID. It, just like any other disease, exists on a spectrum. The timing of my illness and my usual lower intensity to handle the summer heat means I haven't done high intensity running since before I was sick. It's possible that this is my new normal and I'm trying to mentally prepare for that. Hopefully it's not and I can get my fitness back, but I do better when I can prepare for possible bad news, so I'm trying to prepare.7 -
Great 5k @kgirlhart . That is speedy.
Great running @tarun_yadavA ! One more. And I know you made @SummerSkier happy today. 😉
I hope your calf is ok for your race @Scott6255 .
Oh no @daria0919 ! I'm so so sorry to hear this. Hang in there and I hope you can avoid surgery. Big hugs to you.
It sounds like you did okay the last couple of runs. I hope the doctor can find something that is easy to fix so you can get back to your old level of fitness. Hugs to you.1
