Just Give Me 10 Days - Round 274

@SModa61: my DP went through the same thing with his parent's things; his brother lives far away; it's remained a strain on their relationship- not the "stuff", but the fact that DP did it alone. I'm really sorry. And yes, the process of clearing out can be a great motivator to rid ourselves of our own accumulated debris- it was for me, too :-)1

I joined this group in Rnd 245 on Dec 18 2023, when I realized I was eating my way through the holidays; I finally got on the scale and was hovering just under 150 lbs. It took about 4 months to reach my goal weight of 125. Sounds great, but I’ve done this before, which is why I’m still here.
It’s not just about losing, it’s about changing the habits of a lifetime that keep me stuck in self-defeating cycles with food.

My parents passed 13 months apart 20+ years ago. (Ages 71& 75) About 3 years before, they (together) cleaned out the attic, closets & incidentals. Made sure each child took whatever personal stuff was still there…. (This was before they became ill). My three siblings and I still comment about just how lucky we were/are. Simply one of the most amazing gifts they gave!

10/06- 169.6 lol today is not off to a great start for calories- I poured a generous splash of Bailey’s into my coffee this morning. A 7:30 buzz on a Sunday is very indulgent! I’m doing my outside Halloween decorating and it feels like a party.
It’s been a fairly successful weekend of accomplishing tasks and enjoying the last few days of boat season. We’ll be taking it out of the water next weekend.
Need to switch DH closet for the Fall, somehow he can’t do this entirely on his own. He is so talented and genius in many facets but day to day organization is not he his strong suit!1 -
@_JeffreyD_ : "I am therefore very surprised that my scale reading was lower this morning than the day I left. Maybe it had to do with 15,000 to 20,000 steps each day uphill both ways."
I also came back a little lighter, and I've found that's the case when I go to Italy- better food and more activity. Welcome back, I'm sure your trip was amazing!
Fantastic photo! Looks like Tuscany?
@judefit1 Thanks. Actually it is in Umbria, on the border with Tuscany. Withing eyesight of Orvieto. We were at Altarocca Wine Resort, one of our more relaxed tour stops.1 -

Well, I am back after two and a half rounds off for a trip to Italy. Was I careful what I ate? Yes, very careful. I was careful to eat everything that was put in front of me. 😊 Such a nice trip though.
I am therefore very surprised that my scale reading was lower this morning than the day I left. Maybe it had to do with 15,000 to 20,000 steps each day uphill both ways.
I return with a renewed sense of urgency to do better. We are entering what I call the danger zone. October, November, December. (it’s only 25% of the entire year!)

Pumkin pancakes at Rotary yesterday for lunch.
Last night I grilled some fresh salmon. Our grocery store had a huge overstock, so $10/pound was on sale for $1/pound, so DW bought a 3.4 pound slab! “this is the best salmon I have ever had,” said DW. Gave some to kiddos, and we have plenty left over for a salad topping today. DW will make salmon burgers out of the thin raw scraps.
Good to be back with you all!

It’s a beautiful fall day here, so after I stock up on dog & cat food, I’m off to the Rivergreenway for a walk. It’s such a relief to finally feel I don’t need to be within 2 minutes of a bathroom, and so far I haven’t had any foot cramps since I stopped taking magnesium supplements. I had thought I couldn’t make my end-of-year goal of 170, but I feel much more hopeful now. I don’t usually set number goals, just behavioral goals, because I can’t control results, only efforts, but I think this one is reasonable. Since DH is finally onboard about how damaging pasta is for me, we’re doing just fine with a lot of “feed ourselves” days, and I know that’s helping. My big downfall at the moment is occasional Triscuit splurges, but as indulgences go, that’s not too bad. And I’m showing much more restraint!
10/04 - 196.8/196.4
Another of those mystery “upbumps.” I’m trying to ignore it as I ate responsibly. Charlie and I went for a nice long walk in one of our favorite parks. Plan to repeat today.
10/05 - 197.2/196.5
Ugh. I’m walking more and keeping calories below 1400 with macros spot on, so I just don’t get the “stickiness” of my weight. Maybe it will let go one of these days. Sigh.
10/06 - 197/196.6
Another beautiful morning here in northeast Indiana, heading for downright hot this afternoon. I plan to do a bit of garden cleanup, then go for a walk in a park or on the Rivergreenway. I enjoy a nice, quiet Sunday!

@Chapter_3 There are some good points in that visual, but a gram of protein per pound of body weight is way too much protein. Based on what I’ve read on medical sites, it should be about .33 gram of protein per pound of body weight, or 1 gram per pound of LEAN weight, which is usually about .33 percent of body weight and which most of us have no accurate way of assessing. Too much protein long term can damage the heart, liver, and kidneys. So maybe a tweak in the visual? 😊0

My 2 yo DGS spent the night for a surprise visit, and my niece just left yesterday after week's visit, so it's been busy. Grandpa is in charge of DGS this morning while I go hiking with some friends - I didn't want to cancel. I mostly get in my exercise early, so generally I'm done and showered by 7:30. Seems like this is secret time, long before anyone is looking for me. But really, it is time stolen from chores, etc. I'm always trying to find balance.
