Senior Carnivore Newbie from Michigan

Hi,
I'm new here and hope to find some friends for support and to support on my journey to fitness.
I'm doing carnivore, feel much better, and have overcome some issues, but have not lost any weight.
Last month, I became an "official" senior citizen! I'm an art teacher, artist, writer, gardener, wife, mom of 4 (w/twins), and grandma of 3.
Looking forward to meeting you.

    Hi, artsy and nkey
Here's to a smooth induction period. A word of caution, if you have been on a lot of diets, and depending on how healthy you are, some may need to eat more than you are used to and allow some healing to happen before you see weight loss.

Before carnivore, my weight went from 296 to 273 in early 2024. It was a busy time and I don't even remember what I was doing but probably lower carb. I have been doing strict (meat, eggs, dairy, fish) carnivore since 5/16/24 with some success. My one cheat is diet coke. One week in, I already saw good reduction in inflammation and was off all medications. My weight has dropped to 242 as of today and at my check up in August, the doc was pleased with all my labs and said just keep doing what your doing. There have been several weeks when I didn't lose anything. Once it was almost a month. I played around a little with quantity and macros. Eventually the scales started moving again and picked up the pace. The average is aprox 6 lbs/mo on carnivore. I am 72yo, mobility challanged and wasn't sure anything would work but this seems to be the ticket. It is simple to follow. There is no real need to mess with macros in the beginning. Meat is self-limiting for me. My only exercise is walking the dog 4x/day. I keep a loose journal of odd issues and what I might have eaten on those days that might have affected the feeling.

I am testing a couple plant items this month, but staying under 20 carb total daily, to get an idea how to address holiday family meals. Right away, an increase in inflammation and hunger, so my holidays will be carefully navigated. It isn't worth the pain. The only downside I experience is some leg cramps and loose stools on and off throughout the 5 1/2 months. I don't take supplements. I haven't gotten used to the higher fat content yet, but I am starting to believe the fat is key to reversing insulin resistance which I have had for years (decades?). I don't have cravings. I am only hungry when I wake up. Without really trying, I am eating just 2x most days in an 8 hour window so am enjoying some of the benefits of mild IF just because this woe is so satiating.

I watched a lot of youtube coaches to keep me motivated, especially during the slow weeks. I feel like I could do this indefinately as long as I keep getting better.

Best wishes as the journe unfolds. I hope you enjo- all the benefits. It is worth the effort. This ke-board is missing a couple ke-s. please forgive the errors.
