I am a 60-year-old female and for the life of me, I don't know how this happened. Did time fly? I am only 40 in my mind?
I feel much younger and want to be active again. However, due to a chronic pain disease, I stopped moving around and started an almost sedentary lifestyle. I have taken Prednisone for 10 years which made me more hungry. (Tapering down right now and it's HE-Double L).
I was already overweight when I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and I have managed to balloon up to 348 lbs in ten years.
I had a doctor's appointment in August and I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (A1C 6.7). The scale in the morning showed 347 lbs.
The Change:
I started a lifestyle change on September 5th, signed up with "Loseit" and so far I have lost 15.6 lbs. Lose it is nice but there are just too many people who take a weight loss drug and the overall activity is very low. I hope to interact with like-minded people because I think it's easier in a group. I have to have surgery in November and this week my blood was taken again and I asked to add glucose to it. My A1 C is now down to 5.7 almost normal and my morning glucose (after eating a banana) was 114. I am thrilled.
I have a ton to lose, right now I weigh 332 lbs.
I want to be under 300 by Christmas 2024. I hope to weigh in around 250 lbs by July 4th and I hope to be under 200 by Christmas 2025.
Anybody with me? And if so, how do we do it? I can't see a newsfeed or an activity feed. How do you interact with friends?

PS. I am right now gluten-free, dairy-free and I have eliminated added sugar from my diet. I eat carbs and protein. I go strictly by calorie intake.

@Lady_Magenta I just sent you a friend request. I can relate to the prednisone weight gain. I wasn't on them as long as you, only a year, but after realizing a weight gain of 55 plus pounds, I begged my Dr to take me off them last month. I have Myasthenia Gravis and the extra weight isn't helping my condition. If you send me a message, I will send you my email address, I'm also on LoseIt so maybe we can connect there as well. I started here at 56 and lost 97 without meds, through a combination of careful logging and exercise. Like you, joint pain from arthritis and an Illness, piggybacked with extreme GERD for me.
My doctor told me on repeat that weight loss would help with GERD. Absolutely vanished with the first 20 lost.
The more active - and lighter- I became, the easier it became to get out of bed (no more painful and slow hand-over-hand acrost the four-poster to reach the bathroom. Yay!!!!). It also became easier simply to get up and eventually came to the point where sitting down for an extended period drives me nuts.
If I can do this, clumsy, slow, sedentary, obese as I was, anyone can do this.
MFP killed the friends function when they eliminated the friends newsfeed back in June. There’s really no point to having friends now, and the requests you do receive will mostly be from either male romance scammers or people trying to get you involved in some kind of bitcoin scam. If your “friend” request profile pic includes a uniform, is handsome or fit, or has a pet, be wary. Those are all the red flags.
I am currently back from five weeks of international travel, including what was probably a bout of Covid, and was most definitely an extended bout of Travelers….tummy, which has somehow morphed into a bout of joint paint and fatigue.
I have no idea if my weight is up or down with all the joint swelling, painful bloating, and dehydration from ongoing tummy troubles , but am still logging and tracking every single day so I can get back on track once things have simmered down.
I also can’t wait to get back to my normal routine. My trainer cut me off after 40 minutes this morning and told me to go home and rest, that I was clearly tired and weak. That just makes me mad and more determined to get healthy again. I enjoyed feeling strong and vigorous, because it’s something I had never ever experienced before. It’s a thrill.
Weight loss is like getting a snazzy new luxury sports car with a better motor. Everything about weight loss feels better, and like having a snazzy sports car, I feel happier and more satisfied with life in general while “driving the new me”.
I hadn’t expected that, but it’s the greatest benefit of weight loss.
I will continue to record every single day, because as soon as I don’t, it’s too easy to fall back into bad habits. Getting to goal is freaking awesome but it’s maintenance that’s the challenge.
Please use these boards as your source of information, to get good versus bad plans, to weed out BS, and for straight up inspiration. Ask anything. I have, and I’m grateful for the support I received.0 -

The friendship thing doesn't make any sense here anymore. I learned that they took the daily newsfeed away and without it you can't really communicate.
I am thinking of joining a group or maybe even start a group. I am not sure yet, however, I will notify you. I hope that's alright. Let's do this!
My weight is now 327.6 lbs which is fantastic. I have lost 20+ pounds and you will too. It's a mind thing. My mind is made up.1 -

I have a very long way to go, but I can feel the difference already. My glucose is normal, my blood pressure is down and normal as well. I am less hungry. I walk easier, but it's still hard. My ankles are less swollen and overall I feel better.
I have made drastic changes. I am in it to win it! Goodness that would be a good name for a group here. Thank you so much for your long response. I appreciated it a lot.1 -

You are so sweet. Thank you. I have given up on Loseit, not much activity there either. I like the logging here better, even so I don't because I write still a food journal by hand for another 45 days.
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and a Thyroid issue. I have an appointment on Wednesday, they want to take it out and I am all for it.
The extra weight is not helping my condition either. Tapering down on Prednisone is my main focus right now. I was on 30 mg, tapered down to 25, from there slowly to 20, right now I am at 11 mg. I will go down to 10 mg next week.
