    Hello and welcome!

IMO, there's a lot to be said for a plan that makes the process as easy as possible, rather than aiming to make it as fast as possible. I figured that to not only reach a healthy weight, but stay there long term, I needed to find enjoyable (or at minimum tolerable/practical) new routine habits that would not only get me to goal weight but also be capable of keeping me there almost on autopilot without constant "motivation" for the entire rest of my natural life.

I decided I wasn't going to do anything to lose weight that I wasn't willing to continue forever, except for a sensibly moderate calorie deficit until I reached goal weight. I arrived at goal weight (around 50 pounds down) in a bit under a year, and have been maintaining in a healthy range for over 8 years since. No one thing works for everyone, but that was a good strategy for me.

Failure IS OK, sort of. My theory is that we need to commit to the process, but treat the details as a fun, productive science fair project for grown-ups. If some part of the plan doesn't work, that's not a failure. That's learning a tactic than can best be discarded, because it doesn't work for us. So, try another tactic. Keep experimenting, find what works for us personally, we can succeed. Only totally giving up on that "experiment, then adjust" process is actual failure, in my view. That's maybe a little different mindset, at least it was for me.

    Best wishes!
