Hello.

Hi,

My name is Kate and I’m 44 - almost 45. I’m a returning member of MyFitnessPal after a few years of neglecting my health.
Speaking of neglecting my health… sadly, this has resulted in significant weight gain, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. 🤦🏻‍♀️
I found out I was diabetic on 6th November and it was reconfirmed this weekend with my blood test results. Annoyingly, I should have been told I was diabetic back in March when a blood test showed I was in the range. Alas, nobody at my surgery thought to tell me!
Anyway, I’m over the initial shock and ready to start tackling it either way diet, exercise and whatever meds they chuck at me (possibly Mounjaro). I have a lot of weight to lose - I won’t divulge figures but let’s just say it’s a big number. I’m going to eat low carb to get my blood sugars down and because I’ve had weight loss success in the past eating like this. The difference this time is that I can’t quit after 6 months. I have to keep going for life. This is quite a daunting prospect, but needs must.
I’ve got myself a new fit bit so I can start moving more. I’ve bought a trolley load of the healthiest stuff I could find and I’m ready to go.
Fitness wise - I’m the least sporty person you could meet. However, I have for the last couple of months been using power assisted exercise machines at the gym to rehab a back injury and start me off with getting my body ready for more activity. My back is significantly better and I’m hoping to start with the gym’s e-gym programme once it’s installed during the next month. I love nature so I’ll also be trying to take more walks outside. So nothing world beating, but it’s much more than I have been doing for a long time.
I’ve rambled on long enough so I shall go get some sleep!
