Thank you, I didn't know my goal was to keep this AF streak going either. Not sure when I will decided ON MY OWN(not by peer pressure) to have some alcohol. All I know is my body must have needed the flush. Even though I have had this sickness crud for almost a month off and on I would have been worse off if I had been loading alcohol in my body. ( BTW my husbands co-workers have all been ill this Fall and Winter so I know he is bringing home the germs daily since there are over 50 employees at his work place)

Happy New Years Eve people! AF life is looking good on me! I got up at 5am, already baked a homemade green chili cornbread, had my egg white and salsa breakfast, plan to wash my hair now, do my shopping at 9am before my 9:30 gym class. YES the last day of the year shall have a kickboxing workout!
I am hitting Total Wine and will get NA drinks for me to drink along with my crew. I did "cave" yesterday by buying Diet Dr. Pepper, couldn't resist buy one get one free. I know it's all chemicals but I plan to make it my last batch. Plus, pure lemon juice and club soda with mint or something like that is pretty nice on it's own.
@itladyee I wanted to love RPM class (cycling) but I did not know I was supposed to wear special padded underwear. The seats are damn hard and my fat *kitten* was hanging off each side. Well, my butt isn't that big but those seats were more like sticks instead of seats. I am not sore now but I was during the class. I will do it again though. It was fun to be in a dark room with music blasting and seeing your stats on the wall. I was #9 out of 10 people. Almost last! The instructor was cool and the class clapped for me at the end for making it the whole hour.
Here's to the NEW YOU and new and improved ALL of US in 2025! I'll drink AF to that!5 -
Thanks for setting up January @MissMay !! Glad to see you are on the mend, but I know it’s been sheer slog. Congrats on a big holiday season with no alcohol!
My weight is coming down. I am going to the gym this morning, then vacuuming the house. No plans for New Years, but that’s fine with me!
Went to dinner last night, had two drinks. Did not meet my goal of NA until New Year’s Eve, but oh well. I just need to avoid the big holiday binges, and I’m actually ok. I do feel better not having alcohol, so my goal is to go most of the work week NA, and continue to moderate Th-Sat. I need to start Sundays AF to set the tone for the week, and plan around events that pop up during the week.
May you all have a safe and wonderful New Year’s celebration, however boisterous or quiet!4 -
@globalhiker How many days do you have now?1

@globalhiker ~ I'm tired just reading .... sounds like you've got a great day in store!!!I wanted to love RPM class (cycling) but I did not know I was supposed to wear special padded underwear. Ouch, but very cool that you made it for the entire hour. And just think, when you move up that list from #9, to #6 and eventually #1, how great it will feel!!! Great job!!4 -
Had two small bottles of wine last night - Butter Chardonnay now comes in a can lol. I kept thinking this tastes like a can, oh my.
As we say farewell to 2024 I thank you all for being here! Your stories of your dedication and hard work to achieve LA for yourselves are inspiring and motivating. We know LA takes EFFORT!
I found this thread almost two years ago and LA has become an established way of life for me now and I will gladly continue.
2025 is going to be about having a daily and weekly solid plan for LESS to achieve greater health and wellness overall.
Stay safe tonight whatever your plans! Happy New Year! See you on the January thread!

Happy New Year's Eve to all my AF and LA friends.
I'm sorry I've been so quiet this month - I started out with grand plans to really show up here a lot, and then got derailed.
For all of you with the great AF streaks going - FANTASTIC job!!
For those who are not quite where they want to be - keep plugging away, you'll find more and more success as you continue on your journey.
For those who are struggling - I'm right there with you.
I told my SO that I was going to quit drinking when his brother moved in with us. He said "for good?!" and I sheepishly replied "well, we'll see".
My BIL moved in the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Nov 26th, and well, we saw. I was AF the 26th-28th, but have been alternating A and AF days and groups of days since. All total since he's been here I've had 14 AF days and 23 A days - hardly what I would call quitting.
I'm kinda disappointed with myself, but I'm going to pick myself up and focus on the coming year, one day at a time.6 -
December:
AF=10
A=21
I was AF last night and will definitely be tonight. I picked up a bottle of the Mionetto for tonight even though we don't stay up til midnight anymore.
See you all in the New Year and on the January thread.4 -
December Finish...
AF = 4
A = 27
Not my best by any means but certainly not my worst!
I asked my husband to pick up small bottles of prosecco to toast the year in if we were still awake. I have a 1/2 bottle of wine left over so I may chill with the wine and toast in the near year (just before midnight) and hit the ground running for 2025!!

@SparkSpringtime69 As you probably know, I've been struggling too. I didn't have even one AF day this month. I'm giving myself through Saturday to taper, then I'm quitting.
I don't know if you saw my post at the beginning of this January thread about "My" reasons to quit drinking. You may want to take a look. Several years ago, I would have totally said, "I'm fine drinking. That doesn't apply to me!". But, after having some fairly serious medical issues. I realize that I need to quit. Not just want to quit. I was pretty OK when I was younger and working 40 hours a week. But, I retired early (my husband has a good pension and we had relocated) and then that's when it got worse. Too much time on my hands.
I wish you the best achieving your goals (as well as everyone else). You can do this and so can I! Keep posting, even if you're not reaching you're goals. It will help you and everyone else. It helps to read others stories.
Take care and Happy New Year!3 -
@itladyee Cute pic...he definitely looks ready to celebrate New Year's.
I would post my final stats. But, between AF and A, one was a zero. Guess which one?
Have a happy New Year! See you in the January thread!

@surfergirl1982 I'll probably get into the January thread first thing tomorrow morning. The idea of posting your reasons to quit sounds like a good one - I think I'll try that as well. I may even write or type them up and keep them nearby so I don't have to keep going back to my computer to remind me, LOL.
I hope you have success with the tapering, I know you're concerned about stopping abruptly and you're smart to be cautious about it.
@itladyee I think that knowing that it's not your worst should be encouraging. Cute pic!
I'll see you both in January.4 -
@SparkSpringtime69 Yes, I want to print mine out also. It would be better if I had some card stock and a frame. Then, I could hang it where I would see it everyday. I'll have to check Staples, maybe I can buy just a few sheets.
See you in January!1 -
AF - 19
A - 12
I had a wonderful NYE, until I woke up New Year’s Day with a horrible hang over.
So dumb of me!4
