Good morning, all, from the early morning of the Arkansas River Valley...
Barbie - Arms around you from here. So glad there's a set of folks that support you, and glad the daughter is there with you now. She sounds like a lovely person from things you've said before.
Beth - Sorry the son's health woes weren't handled well. Is your hearing continuing to improve? I keep meaning to ask and forgetting. Love the pics.
Kay - I'm so sorry the knees are hurting so badly. I'm getting a tiny break from mine as the weather has warmed up above freezing for nearly a week now, and I'm grateful for it. Getting behind that pain leaves me in a chair with my feet up, too. It helped to stop spacing my pain meds out evenly and take two at night, one in the early morning and one at noon. Lets me sleep the whole night through, which keeps things on a more even keel.
Tracey - Is that your mom in the picture? What a lovely gift from her roommate. I know you worry about her. Love the picture of you and Amber. Hope the outcome is good for the C-section mom to be.
Regular chores out of the way for the weekend, want to get a couple things done before Corey gets up.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Barbara - I ordered "David's" toothpaste from Amazon, they carry several different brands that have hydroxyapatite and I'll bet most drugstores and Walmart have them. Hope you can find it and it helps that tooth. I'm not sure which brand is best. Sorry about your phone.
Tracey - Nice that you'll be able to call and talk to your mom. Is that her in the photo with the beautiful smile? (Lisa and I are on the same wavelength this morning!) Technology is such a blessing with being able to see and speak with our loved ones in real time. I just checked your 10 day weather report....Brrrr. Ember looks very comfortable at your house.
Kylia - oh my word. I'm going to avoid the W11 update for as long as I can. Glad you have other computers there so the business isn't affected overall.
Make it a good weekend, ladies- stay warm and dry!

Hey, guys,
Thank you, Kylia and Lanette for the comments on W11 - my laptop is pushing me to do it, too, but it sounds like an overnight update makes a lot more sense!
Got a video done this morning, but will have to cut out the beginning and keep it for the blooper reel, because literally the first moment I started, Corey got up and headed for the bathroom, with accompanying weird noises. #ReasonsIDon'tRecordVideosWhenMyHusbandIsHome...
Figured I'd leave a moment of zen for all our kitty lovers... Egg was enjoying the only bit of sun we got yesterday. You can see it shining just on her head...
Time to ferry in his third cup of coffee...
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

My halogen light bulbs arrived, and I'd ordered the wrong bayonet size. I've got a returns barcode and I've ordered a new set. I can go to the Post Office on Monday and it will give me a walk.
The new printer has also arrived, but I'm going to leave it to John this time. I have no idea how to add my laptop, tablet and phone, but hey ho. The last one had several apps, which were unnecessarily complicated. I hope this HP one is simpler.
The new pepper grinder seems to work perfectly. I like being able to choose the degree of fineness.
I texted my DDIL to thank her for helping make the Christmas go so smoothly. She got the kids to make a list back in November and sent me a couple of options with a cash limit. The kids were delighted with their presents and very grateful. We also opened them one by one and watched each other. No chaos, or grabbing. They also know how to behave at table. Most of that is down to her, so I thought she should know how much I appreciate that kind of background work. Everyone praises the cook, but there is other stuff going on as well.
She texted me back to thank me and to say how lovely it is for the kids to have such wonderful grandparents.
I thought of expressing my appreciation for DDIL, because my YouTube was full of people saying how disappointed they were by Christmas and the grandchildren's attitude to presents. Tearing them open, no thanks etc. Not even wanting to eat together. These things don't happen by accident. A lot of the grandparents said they weren't going to do it again. It reminded me what a good parent she is. Privilege doesn't mean spoilt.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Goals for what I am doing to try and keep my mouth and body healthy for the new year...
#1 reduce and try to eliminate sugar from my diet...it encourages the wrong bacteria that causes tooth decay and gum disease.
#2 reduce mouth breathing...Mouth breathing dries out your mouth...It is the quality of your saliva that helps to remineralize your teeth.
#3 Eat a diet that keeps my inflammation healthy... inflammation is a natural way for your body to heal. When inflammation gets out of control that is when the chronic illnesses start.
#4 Manage stress...My mom told me she had great teeth until WWII broke out. The stress of my dad being in the war caused her teeth to start to go bad and she had a still born baby. So stress can cause more harm than just your teeth.
# 5 Get the rest and/or sleep that I need...So my body can recover and handle the stresses demanded of it.
#6 Continue to build and maintain relationships through friendships, choir, painting, walking DrewB through the neighborhood.
#7Give my life purpose by volunteering in a school.
#8Continue to share my love of gardening.
#9 Nurture my faith through singing and being in nature when I can
#10 Balance and strength exercises while being mindful of breathing properly from the diaphragm.
#11 Continue to buy less and FLOW...Forgive myself when mistakes are made, Let GO. Organize what remains, Weed out what no longer works...
Tall order for the new year...Many are in place by building good habits over time. Expecting slip ups that will occur just go back to my list to remind myself how far I have come.

Margaret, I love your goals....a tall order. My word for 2025 is "Enough" which is the word I had for 2024. I need to nurture and maintain the good habits I have already and not any new stuff. I need to enjoy what I have.7

Thought I’d post my 2025 goals. My December 2024 goals have been a bust due to ongoing stress and worry. I’ll post a copy of the final results the beginning of January. I organized my goals for 2025 so I could balance them. I know I will not be 100% perfect, but anything over 0% is a win. (Though I always aim for 100%. I’m a perfectionist in this which is another stressor which I’m going to try to lessen). I need to make changes in all aspects of my life this year, so I feel that changes is an apt Word of the Year.
2025 GOALS

2. 30 minutes a day of exercise average a month 0/12
3. Drink no more than 8 days a month 0/8
4. Weigh less or same at end of month than the First of the month
Finances/occupational
1. Build up emergency fund to $1000 by depositing money in each of my money *vaults monthly 0/12
2. Extra money used to pay on car, Afirm, and Freedom Debt each month no matter how small. 0/12

“At took me a long time to realize that each person is responsible for their life. It took me years to discover that my anguish, anxiety, my depression, my courage, my insomnia & my stress, does not solve your problems but aggravates mine.
I am not responsible for the actions of anyone & it’s not my job to provide happiness but I am responsible for the reactions I express to that.
Therefore, I came to the conclusion that my duty to myself is to remain calm and let each one of you solve what corresponds to you.” Not sure where I got this quote, but it really speaks to me.

not sure what we will do today. DH wanted to go up to Sacramento to see his friends, finally having the day pretty much to himself. Both friends are busy so we will find something else to do. He will drop me off at his mom's house so I can walk the dog for a nice LONG walk and feed him while he goes and visits his mom. Last night when he was over to see her, she couldn't remember my name which concerned him, not me, she has called me other peoples names before, but usually referring to me as "Her"
Beings we aren't going out of town, I am sure he will go back over to see his mom and also spend extra time with the dog. All up to him and on his terms, not his mothers.
Last night she yelled at him for not seeing her the day before. He has been there twice a day each day-cussed at him and called him a lier.
They told him that if there is no improvement in three weeks that we will need to find another place for her which to him is bringing her home. I sure hope she shows some improvement because he was talking about hiring someone for the nights and he would stay there all day, every day. Praying this doesn't happen.
Having my tea while he cleans up.

With every kind gesture and care you put into being grandparents, and taking the time to tell them what you expect, they learn how to act. I was kind of stern with my boys in how they behaved in libraries, doctors offices, and restaurants etc. I would tell them , "you are a ball and sometimes I will tell you when to bounce or how high to bounce. I won't let you bounce off the walls like you see some kids do in the isles of toy stores". So teaching them to talk in a calm voice, eat politely, and know being out at a restaurant is special, was important. When we would take all three boys out, one eating nicely in a highchair, the other two coloring or talking quietly, people would come up to our table and comment on how well behaved they were, or just give us a smile and nod. The boys felt proud, and we were proud of them.
I think its really sad when Grandparents talk negatively about their experiences with their grandkids. I had such fond memories of my Grandparents, I would have never thought about being anything but loving toward them. They were such great storytellers, especially my maternal grandmother because sometimes she'd tell stories after she took her teeth out. Hysterical.🤗💖.
You are giving all three of your grandkids, your time and devotion. Its really quite lovely to see. Max with his long talks with your John, and you with painting with the girls. 💖

Went to Jess’ for Christmas since she was oncall. Went to the Chinese Lantern Festival which was very nice. Got my wish for toilet bowl brushes, slippers (hippopotamus slippers since one year I wrote “all I want for Christmas is a hippopotamus”), a napkin holder (I think they sent Jess the wrong one. Or else she ordered the wrong one), tire caps, gift certificate to Lowe’s Hardwareand lots of other stuff I needed
Took Ganon for a hour walk every day we were there
Jess is fostering a kitten. They wanted the kitten to get socialized with other cats and I think she’s achieved that goal. He’s real cute. She was insistent that at the end of Jan he’d go back, but they I heard rumblings of things like “if we keep him, we’re changing the name” He was named Pumpkin (which I think is a nice name) but the shelter changed it to Spencer since they had a lot of Pumpkin’s
Eating was horrible while at Jess’. But now that I’m home getting back in the routine. It really does feel good
Allie – a dear friend of mine left her abusive situation. She said that he knew she was going to her mother’s. Anyway, at the divorce he told the judge he didn’t know and he was granted the divorce on the grounds of abandonment and she didn’t get any alimony or child support
Beth – good luck with the surgery.
Deb – so glad they found a place for MIL. Would you be taking her dog?
The cats had a great time at Jess’. Our 4 and her 3 – now THAT was a picture. Not to mention the dog in there. Only 4 humans, tho
Denise didn’t have to put on a show for PJ that Christmas was a week later. Seems Pete came home for Christmas day.
Rebecca – I had to skip over your recipe for the chocolate mousse. It was making me too hungry
Tina – so good to see you
We usually have Ken & Lynette over for New Years so I’m starting to get the menu together. Need to get my pork loin. You can’t have fowl, that’s for sure
Wished Bryan a merry Christmas and did get some pictures of Leo. It just makes me very sad to know that I have a grandchild I’ll never see.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah. Whatever you celebrate, may it be joyous
Denise said that PJ got Light Brite (I don’t think he would sit long enough to play with it) along with a mini-fridge for his room. She said it was very small, bit enough for a 6 pack of soda. But still – a fridge for a 5 year old? I must be behind the times.
Kylia – that vase and flower are breathtaking. We solved the problem of the cats “helping” by wrapping in the back bedroom with the door closed
Love all the photos
barbie – I’m so very sorry for Jake. What happened? Oh, barbie, I’m so so sorry. I’m so glad you were with him.
Allie – stomach bug – no wonder Miles isn’t smiling
Tracey – Vince LOVES Great Christmas Light Fight. He gets ideas (watch out). I did see the blowmold tree. The unfortunate part was, we have a lot of them . but it was impressive the wiring
Oh, the first day Ganon and I were walking back, this lady stops us and says “can you call 911”? She said she’d been abused and just got back from the hospital and just wanted to get in her house. She didn’t seem delirious to me and I told her to talk to 911. She also didn't look abused. But then again, there are lots of different types of abuse, not just physical A few minutes later I saw a police car and then I saw her talking to them. What the outcome was, I don’t know.
Margaret – great goals. Yours, too, Rita
Well, I went to CVS today to get a prescription and forgot that Cheerios were on sale. Anyway, I asked for a raincheck. The gal said that there’s a limit of 3 of the item, I asked her “since when”. She said it’d always been that way. No, I have rainchecks for greater amounts, even one I got recently. Spoke to the mgr. When I told him I had rainchecks for larger amounts, he told me that I wasn’t going to get one unless I calmed down. I told him “guess I have to go to the C store”. He told me I could go anywhere. Well, the C store gave me 2 rainchecks, each for 4 boxes. I did call and lodged a complaint. Hopefully, the DM will call me back.
Plus….I had a prescription and I was totally out. Didn’t get a refill for about 15 days from when they were supposed to refill it. Vince has a prescription that has suddenly disappeared from their website. He can go into his history and see that it’s been refilled, but it’s disappeared so he can’t ask for any more refills. They are so screwed up it isn’t even funny.

Im off quite a few of my meds with the weight loss, and im taking myself off melatonin ,less meds the better.
Jeans time is about up.. she is in contempt of court and I have a feeling her SIL will take over the trust and she will end up in the pokey..just where she belongs..
And my brother ,bless his heart is doing his best to hold the whole place together..his MIL isn't getting the care she needs unless he does it ,the caregiver they have partime is a loser and takes laundry detergent, paper products, etc. Home with her and doesnt do well with Faith.. only thing Faith wont let Sean do is shower her..Jean and Yolanda don't even change her adult diaper at night and she is soaked by morning..which is elder abuse..
I told Sean just keep a record..5 -
Regarding Windows 11 ... I don't recall the installation being a big deal but it may depend on your internet speed and your computer itself.
I usually run updates, installations and backups overnight as a matter of course. That's when all the businesses I've worked for have run them. But when I do ... when I get up to use the toilet, I come out and check if I have to click OK or do some other manual step.
I've had Windows 11 for a while now and it seems fine.

Goals
-GET TO THAT DARN GYM ALREADY. 🙄😂😂. Why do I make excuses when it really does make me feel better? Its only a small part of my day and will make the world of difference in how I get around in the world.
-get out the measuring containers and use them for portion control.
-take a vacation from sweets! Buy fruit and sugar free jello and puddings instead.
-Eat small meals. Stop the large meals with the mindset of intermittent fasting.
-stop with the sodas, cookies, candy and chips. I have survived Christmas and the feasting and "I deserve it" mindset is over.
I need to also read more, and detox from social media. My life has to hold more substance less tablet play.
Its a lot to tackle. But I will try my best.

Well its 12:30 am and this is what I get for taking a nap sheesh..
Oh well I'll try some meditation and see if that helps.3 -
Lisa - that is my Mom and an old school friend of mine. We were close at one point in our lives. She was the New Year Baby in 1969.
Lanette - I hadn’t checked our weather, it is going to get cold. We always get a few of those each Winter.
Ember loves it here, but she is a country dog used to being able to just step outside and stay there for as long as she wants. She can go hours without seeing anything at home. Here, she has to be tied up to be let out and she barks at everyone walking by. She is protecting us from everyone walking by, or visiting other homes.
Heather - as a DIL I would have appreciated that text. I can’t believe how some children are allowed to behave. Our Grands also know how to eat at the table and we take turns opening gifts and watching one another. It’s all in how they are raised I think and what behaviour and manners are being modelled for them.
Rita - I love that quote.
Rebecca - you said that so eloquently.
Michele - I want one of those little fridges! I think 5 is a little young too, but maybe she can put a morning snack in there so she gets to sleep a little longer, I can see me doing that when the girls were young. I often got home from work at midnight and Lauryn would be awake by 6 and usually waking Kaitlyn up. A lot of mornings I would give them a snack and put a movie in for them. They would sit in behind my legs on the couch, that way when they moved I knew they did. I was so exhausted even if that bought me 15 minutes it helped.
Allie - What a mess!
I started my mini album today. I’m having fun with it and already have ideas to make a couple more.
As I was working on it this evening I received a text from Michaela asking if she could come for a sleepover so that she could spend her money we gave her for Christmas.
We have agreed that she will go with me to take Ember home on Monday and then have her sleepover.
This was her response:
I heard from the new Daddy, Mommy and the baby girls are doing great and should be going home from the hospital tomorrow. I can’t wait until she posts a picture and their names. She will make an announcement soon I’m sure.
The important thing for me to know was their health, all three of them.
I’m off to bed.

The reason why I texted my DIL was because I think we often have a nice thought about someone, in our heads, or a loving thought, and we forget to tell them. My DIL is the proverbial 'iron fist in a velvet glove', but in the best way. No, she's not perfect, but she has brought up three thoughtful, considerate, children, who are learning how to self-regulate. They often fight and squabble, but that's siblings for you. I heard Esther Perel say that we should tell people our good thoughts, because it could make such a difference to their day, or week, or year, or life. I agree with that. I try to do it with John. We all need praise. We grow in it. And it's good for the giver too.
Give more compliments. That's a good goal for the new year.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -
More digging in the garden today with the mattock. Removing the weird grass to open up an area for planting.
Plus a decent walk ...
And a bit of reading on the deck ...

Debbie - ((((HUGS)))) Hope your DH is able to make the right decision that will ease his (and your) stress.
Lisa - I'm going to wait on the W11 update until you get through it and give us the report!
Heather - I wonder if your DIL would write a book on parenting? About raising children to be well-behaved in public? What you said about modeling is so true. I love your "give more compliments".
I'm not doing "goals", though several of you ladies have wonderful lists of things you hope to achieve in 2025 and hopefully I'll achieve some of them too. I plan to continue with some daily stretching and walking, avoiding sugar and "white" carbs, eating more protein and getting enough sleep. But if I miss a day or two here and there, that's life and it's OK too.
I think my "word" last year was GRATITUDE, and that's where I'm going again this year. Focusing on all that I have to be thankful for, (and there's plenty despite some health issues) like the wonderful people in my life. And the circumstances that have gotten me to where I am in 73 years that could have easily gone another direction, lol. WHEW!
Along that line, I'll add in "be kind." My nature is to be critical so keeping my opinion to myself, unless asked for, pays off.
As Barbie has said many times, the more we give thanks, the more we have to be thankful for.
Lanette

Good Sunday
I know my word for 2025 is GLAD. Grateful, Learned, Achieved, Delighted in. As for goals, I think I am a lot like Lisa. It is like taking a test to me. Must be perfect and adds stress. So keeping it simple:
Be lighter at end of month than beginning
Do better today than yesterday
Recognize my monkey and leave others to deal with theirs (from my oldest granddaughter)
These I can do especially if I keep GLAD in the forefront.
Yesterday was a great day. Started a little rough...DH likes showering together, but got in too late again for me to wash hair, get ready for work, and leave early like he requested 5 mins before he got in shower. So I just jumped in, threw hair in ponytail with lots of hairspray, and met his requests. He commented that I had said I needed to wash my hair. I told him I would just do it last night. We got his errands done before work. I got registrations and warranties filed at work-yay! Got lights changed in blowups, and them packed away. Got Christmas containers back to barn. We left my ornament chest in the new garage (his suggestion). It is big, bulky, and heavy with lots of breakables. These make it hard to lift to barn loft. It will be easier for both of us and has it's own little spot. This was early for us to put up Christmas but it was warm and dry outside, so much nicer. We have left the lights up for now. He then suggested my favorite pizza for dinner. We drove the Bronco to pick up. Nice ride and pizza is a win. I could have eaten the whole thing! I didn't though because I have not been listening to my body and overeating so that I am miserable. Felt better by stopping and eating less. Afterwards, I rested for a few before he needed my assistance. We installed the new cover under the hood of the 2008 Shelby.
The guy that does our pinstripping did it for us.
After that I tried to sit back down, but the papers on my desk were yelling at me. So I filed, shredded, and organized .Much calmer! DH came in and said I thought you were getting a shower. Yes, after cleaning the desk, I got hair washed, then relaxed with cup of tea and magazine. All in all a good day!
My Kentucky grands are coming up today to bake cookies. We are making small batches. I just love that they asked to do this!
DH had wanted to go to our farm in Kentucky this weekend. I reminded him of grands. He was pissy. I suggested going for New Years, then remembered that I have a massage on NY day. His sister said we worked Christmas eve so she is working New Years eve. We will be heading to farm after work on Monday then will come back most likely New Years morning. A win all the way around.
Heather I know your compliment meant the world to your DIL. I try to remember to compliment often. It can be a bright spot in someone's day!
I didn't mean to write a novel.
Need to feed cats, clean litter, and run vacuum. Will need to make quick grocery run before grands get here. Out of eggs and need oatmeal for requested "No bakes". Probably should figure out what to take food wise to Kentucky.
May your Sunday be what you need for your soul today.
Barbie Hugs and warm thoughts continuing.
Debbie Prayers that your DH makes a choice you can both live with.
Make the best choices you can make for your peace of mind and healthy body today .
Much love,
Kylia in Ohio listening to the kittens' zoomies!4 -
Oh....W11 update.....my computer was still trying to restart when I got to work yesterday. I just turned it off, restarted, and rescheduled update to start after we closed yesterday. Will let you know the outcome on Monday.
