How can I gain weight and stay fit with a desk job?

What types of fitness routines or exercises should I focus on to stay healthy and gain weight while working at a worktops company? My job requires me to spend most of the day sitting in an office, which makes it challenging to stay active. I want to ensure I can maintain good health while achieving my weight gain goals. Are there specific exercises or stretches that I can do during short breaks at work? Additionally, what kind of diet should I follow to support healthy weight gain with my sedentary lifestyle?

I don't know if you are in the US, but in the States the government mandates 2 15-minute breaks. I use those for brisk outdoor walking. In addition, I eat my lunch at my desk and use my half hour lunch break for additional walking. Helps a lot for my mood and fitness and keeps those stiff hip joints at bay.

I have a dedicated desk job as well.

I have a standup sit down desk. I stand for probably 6+hrrs per day alternating from sitting to standing.

Also take frequent breaks and walks to keep the blood flowing to my legs.

Humans were not meant to sit as much as we do... :)

When you’re in the office, drink lots of water and then pick the loo which is furthest away from you / up or down stairs. Each time you boil the kettle do a few squats or wall push ups. You won’t get fit doing any of that, but you will help your body to keep mobile. Then plan your exercise in your free time (I’m sedentary all day but I’m fit as I workout in the evenings or weekends).

Re weight gain, it doesn’t matter what you eat. If you eat more calories than you burn you will put weight on, regardless whether you eat nuts, meat, butter, bread. But do you want to put fat on, or are you looking for a structured programme to bulk with muscle?
