My 30+ year journey 82# lost > Goal: 100

Hi! I am Kim. 41/F/OG Fattie! Seriously though, I have been overweight my entire life. I first recognized it at age 10. Well, that’s when other kids started pointing it out to me, honestly. And if you’re reading this, you already know how that made me feel. At 10! That feeling, that girl, those words. They broke me, until I let them build me. It took 31 years to change my mindset. I wish I had done it sooner, but part of me thinks I wouldn’t have had the strength to do it until now. Trying to get a grip on obesity when your 10 is just impossible. At 20, I tried and had a little success, but still, I stayed overweight. After marriage, life struggles, miscarriage, and infertility, by the time I was 30 I was stage II obese. At 5’2” I weighed 207 pounds and could not stop the destructive path I was on. I found myself divorced at 35, without children, no friends, no family. I was just broken. After battling all my demons, moving back to my home state to be closer to family, and genuinely being honest with my inner thoughts, I started to make mental progress. Healing that needed to happen before weight could come off. For me at least, I needed my mind to be right, then my body could follow. In short, my MFP journey since 2012 is messy, but the last 2 years have been the best of my life. I have lost 82 pounds, and I am going to get to that 100-pound mark next year.
Of course, my story is much longer, but I didn’t feel it necessary to continue with explanations of my past. Forward is my path, although I’d be happy to answer any questions. I just appreciate the appreciation because everyone wants to be a success story, right?! Thank you for caring enough to make it this far! Much love from an OG Fattie. If you’re looking for inspiration, I can give you this; Don’t fight what is right! You know … YOU KNOW what you need to do. We search for shortcuts because in many ways we are lazy. If not your body, your mind, or both. Take control over that laziness. You have more strength to build up in your mind, than you do in your body. No matter what you are facing in life, your brain is your strongest muscle so don’t let it be your weakness!

Wow! You are an inspiration! I’m the same height as you and my highest weight was just a few lbs less than that. Right now I’ve been maintaining in the upper 170s for the past few months, and hoping to break through that and look like you soon😁
How did you have the belief that you could get your weight down so low?(are you in the 120s now?) you look amazing!!1 -

🍎Thank you!! It’s been a journey for sure! I am in the 120’s now? But if I’m being honest, it was hardest to get out of the 150’s/160’s. Once I focused on the quality of the food I was eating, it made the difference for me. I don’t drink sodas (not even diet) and rarely eat fast food. Maybe once every three months. Try to stay away from anything processed and I just keep everything as natural as I possibly can. Of course, I live in America and clean eating is not only hard to find but hard to afford! So there are ups and downs that I work through, but staying consistent on the right track it what works. Don’t let your brain and negative thoughts stop you! You’ve got this. Power through and pick yourself, because you are so much stronger than you think!!

Thank you! I’m in the USA as well, and only eat fast food when I’m traveling. I haven’t touched any sort of soda in more than 10 years, so no quick calories to cut out😄
Overall I’m proud of where I’m at and I am so much stronger, fitter and healthier than I was. I’ve been through a lot in the past 7 months so I’m ok w the slower rate of loss. This is the longest I have ever stuck w something (a year). My number one rule is that there is no such thing as failure, I will keep getting back up and never fall off the wagon!1
