How do I make friends?

I have used this app in the past and it was so helpful. It’s motivating to just check in with people and reach out when you’re having a sugar craving, etc. I’m an awesome support cheerleader and I’m looking for other cheerleaders as we ease into our healthy selves. 📣

In the past it was easy for me to figure out how to add people, but now I can’t find that option.

I am about 186 lbs, I’m tall so my first big goal is 150, may go down from there, we’ll see!

But step by step persistence wins. I’ve done this before and rushing is not the way.

Who wants a buddy to reach out to when you have a sugar craving while we’re retraining our brains?!

I do want clothes to fit well and superficial things are nice, but I’ve been really working on appreciating my body and all that it does for me. So no body hating here, only love and support for it. I hope you feel the same!

    Welcome back!

There have been some software changes since you were here last, I think. You can still add friends by navigating to their MFP profile page** - as long as they haven't made their profile private - then clicking on the add button. But the only thing that being friends in that way adds is the ability to send DMs, and the ability to look at someone's diary if they share it with friends. That's it.

If what you're looking for is interaction, encouragement and support, the best route these days is to join in one of the threads here in the Community that has a purpose like that. There are quite a few of them, with various "cultures" and details. The biggest concentration is in these two areas:

    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/motivation-and-support
    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/challenges

Take a look at threads there, read the intro post, and follow the instructions in the intro post to join in the threads that look useful for you. There are similar threads in other areas, too, if you look around.

I'd also encourage you to read threads in any areas, reply if you have helpful information, create new posts for any questions or issues you might need help with, etc.

Since you were here before, you probably know that if you click on some long-running thread here in the Community, you may see old posts at first. The new posts are always at the end, on high-numbered pages. You can jump straight there with the number/arrow keys near the top and bottom of the post list on any page of the thread. Any thread on the first page or two of a Community topic area should have some recent posts.

Best wishes for success this round!

** To find their profile page when starting here in the Community, click on their name on a post, then on "View Profile" then on "MyFitnessPal Profile". If they've made any part of that private, that won't work, though. I'd assume they don't want to add friends in that way, probably, if that's the case.
