I ran 4 miles today. I was still slow, but I felt pretty good. It was cold, but it was pretty out and it felt good to increase my mileage a little. I probably won't make my goal this month, but I was sick and I needed the rest. I saw seven deer this morning. First a buck crossed the road, followed by two doe and two fawns. Then the sixth deer crossed the road and ran right in front of a car. I thought he was going to get hit, but thankfully he didn't. Then a seventh deer crossed the road. I love seeing deer, and I am really glad I did not see one get hit by a car.
Welcome back @rusgolden!
Loving all the photos!

Hi everyone,
@WarmJellyfish mmmmm…. Mangos 🥭:)
When I woke up I was not feeling good and was coughing quite a bit, so I decided to head to the gym and see how running went in a warmer environment. After a 30 minute warm up I thought I might as well try to run one of my planned 16x 400 meter intervals at 5km race pace and see how that felt. It was ok, so I went ahead and did all 16 of them! I am quite tired now, so we’ll see how tomorrow goes, but my intervals for this week are done at least . I ran 18.1km.
143.9/180km for January.9 -
Morning all.
Got in 4.0M at 09"43.
@quilteryoyo I think it was a combination of all things.
Rest needed; ice it / anti-inflammatory helped / change in shoes...
Also: There was a fair bit of flipflop walking on the beach at the end of the trip; and I drove 5 hours too in them.
@WarmJellyfish love the pics. Keep em coming!
RE: chicken - it just looks so unappetising. Boiled chicken on plain rice... And add your own chilli oil 🤔9 -

RE: chicken - it just looks so unappetising. Boiled chicken on plain rice... And add your own chilli oil 🤔
@tarun_yadavA Psssst, it isn't plain old plain rice. It's chicken flavour infused rice. Looks rather bland but oh so tasty that even the high end hotels serves it as a delicacy. It's also rather high in calories the rice alone.
@Laurz9191 mmmm Mangoes
@kgirlhart glad all the deer made it. But why do deer have to be so kamikaze?
@quilteryoyo drive safe!

Pretty much walked all day today. Sheesh, slow shopping strolls are harder than running a 50k.
More shopping scenes from Bangkok
7 -
I'm glad you are feeling better @kgirlhart . Glad the deer didn't get hit. I love seeing them too.
Glad the gym environment helped you get your workout in @laurz9191. I hope you feel better tomorrow.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Glad your foot is feeling better. That beach flip-flop walking can be brutal.
That's a lot of walking @WarmJellyfish . Nice pictures.6 -
Loving all the pics @WarmJellyfish! Keep em coming!4

Hello,
I got another couple of runs in. My new Google Pixel Watch 3 reports I have 16 miles so far this month. This new watch has been screaming at me for a couple of days now "YOU ARE OVERTRAINING, MIX IN SOME RECOVERY" What do I know? It seems a bit laughable.
I am going on a quick holiday up around Oakland/Berkeley/Sonoma. It's been two years since I moved from The Bay down to San Diego and this will be my first trip back "home." I'm bringing my trainers just incase a running opportunity presents itself.

Good morning! It has now been 11 days since we received nearly a foot of snow (~30 cm for you metric folk) and though we had a couple days above freezing, not a lot of snow melt has occurred. Streets are fine, but sidewalks and park walking paths are still pretty iffy. I was able to get a 4 mile run today in a nearby city where I am working on running all of the streets #citystrides #runeverystreet
@kgirlhart -- glad all the deer made it! I love seeing wildlife when I'm running, but no so much when I'm driving. After 40+ years driving, I actually hit my first deer back in November right after the time change from DST. I finally get my Jeep fixed in a couple of weeks.
@WarmJellyfish -- love the pictures!

Nice photos @WarmJellyfish and welcome back @rusgolden I have only been on this thread since about 2018 I think. LOL. Dang time flies. 🤷♀️
Continuing to try and push the mileage this month. Right now I am motivated by telling myself if I run at least 5 miles in the morning I can have my daily donut snack.. 😎🙃😂
Currently at 112 out of 100 goal for the month. Might have understated that? The weather was perfect this morning so I decided to do a 7 miler even though I was about 30 min late for work. Well - it's not like they don't call meetings from 5-7 either so it works both ways (I justify that anyway).
@chris_in_cal the fitbit is trying to roll out a cardio motivator (along with google) and it is so buggy that I don't know whether to ignore it or laugh. Most mornings it tells me a range to aim for and then it disappears somewhere and there is no goal under the cardio. I think tech sometimes NEEDS to be ignored. Except of course when it tells us how FINE we are. right?
8 -
Great running @chris_in_cal . You're watch probably needs to get "trained" with your activity levels. Enjoy your trip home and I hope you can get in a run or two.
Nice run @rusgolden . The snow does tend to stick around. I still have more on my driveway than I would expect.
Keep up the good work @yirara .SummerSkier wrote: »I think tech sometimes NEEDS to be ignored. Except of course when it tells us how FINE we are. right?

Overall avg was 12:03 min/mile (was this close to under 12). Avg HR was 135 with a max of 157 bpm.

Thank you... I saw on a previous post that you also were dealing with snow. Where do you live? I'm in the Kansas City area.

Short run before work today. Nice but uneventful.
I went to Pilates last night. 3 weeks in a row!
I'm headed out to the hill country after work tomorrow. I haven't been out there in several months and am really looking forward to it. I love it out there and I feel like I could use a few days alone.7 -
Keep the photos coming @WarmJellyfish, it all looks amazing. You’ve got me wanting to head back to Asia!
Not a lot of running here at present - my niggly calf is likely a tendon thing so am rehabbing as best I can and part of this involves keeping my mileage low.
Hubby and I did head out for dinner to one of the top restaurants here in Auckland and the food was spectacular (and very pretty), so instead of running pics, I offer food porn (it was an eight course degustation but I forgot to photograph one of the entrees and the three mains (whoops), but here are two entrees and two desserts).
Fois gras on meringue with a blackcurrant gel, mushroom consommé, and a crunchy daikon dumpling of sorts. Amazing, especially the fois gras, which was perhaps my favourite dish of the night.
Scallop ravioli underneath a pile of truffle shavings. Also particularly outstanding.
Dessert one, which was marmalade topped by cheesecake topped with orange compote and then orange sorbet balls.
Dessert two, those raspberries are actually raspberry sorbet, with cheesecake balls, caramelised white chocolate discs, and fresh blackberry. A taste explosion. Stunning.
Then they sent us home with breakfast - homemade granola and a honey based syrup!7 -

I ran 4.25 miles today. I was a little faster than yesterday and felt pretty good, so I guess my stamina is slowly improving. I didn't see any deer today, but I did see a skunk. I also saw a couple of loose dogs. I saw them yesterday and I have seen them posted on Facebook a few times lately. I scolded them and told them to get back home. They looked kind of guilty as dogs will do. But until their owners fix the fence or wherever they are getting out, I expect they will keep getting out and running around.
@Laurz9191 I hope you feel better soon.
@rusgolden Those deer can do a lot of damage.
@ContraryMaryMary Wow! That food looks spectacular.

Morning all
Got in 7.0M at 09"57.
Loving all the food pics ppl @WarmJellyfish & @ContraryMaryMary
@ContraryMaryMary my my, aren't we fancy? (I'm like a pig for truffles lol!)
What's the occasion? Birthday/anniversary?7 -
@martaindale Nice run. Great consistency with the Pilates! Enjoy your alone time in the hill country.
@ContraryMaryMary I hope your calf heals while you are gone. That food looks amazing. I've never had anything that fancy! All the desserts had me at cheesecake. LOL
I'm glad you are getting your stamina back @kgirlhart . I hope the dogs owners get their fence fixed. I'd hate to see the dogs get injured, or injure someone because of it.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA .4 -

Cleared 102.07 miles this morning, so will try to get 150 before month ends.9 -
Hi everyone!
@ContraryMaryMary I also have never been anywhere that fancy. It looks yummy too!
I am still feeling under the weather and coughing. I figured the indoor treadmill is probably better for my airways at the moment than the near freezing and damp outdoors, and would probably put less stress overall on my body, so I got another lengthy treadmill run in. I ran 11.7km.
155.6/280km for January.6 -
Happy FriYay!
It was above freezing this morning, so I decided to take a loop around the walking path behind our neighborhood as I had asked a couple of days ago if anyone knew if it had been cleared. I got a response in the affirmative... however, they must have just observed what I had from the road in that the part by the schools was clear, but other areas were not and a lot of what had been cleared of snow was pretty dicey with the ice. I quickly veered into the school parking lot and then on the road of the subdivision to get my mile in.
We're expecting some bitter cold with sub-zero windchills starting tomorrow thru Tuesday. 🥶

yet another 3km run. Did some very short faster intervals, hoping I'll get my stamina back this way. With sunset a very thick sea fog came in. Which is remarkable considering I'm not anywhere near any sea. 😅 Thus running was kind of fun because I could not see anything. At the same time this kind of fog is so unpleasantly cold that my hands remained frozen until the end. Still magical.9 -
5k for me this morning. The calf behaved but I’m not sure if that’s the calf raises (or lowers actually) or the three days off!
No occasion @tarun_yadavA - hubby and I are foodies and found ourselves without children for the night so jumped at the chance for something a bit special.7 -
@AlphaHowls Sounds like your toes are getting a little bit better every day. I hope that trend continues.
@laurz9191 I hope that cough goes away soon. It is so hard to run and cough at the same time. You're doing great on the treadmill.
@rusgolden Good call on changes courses to avoid the ice. Glad you got your mile in. We're expecting that same weather to reach us on Sunday night/Monday morning. I'm NOT excited about it.
Glad you enjoyed your run in the "sea fog" @yirara . Frozen hands though..... I hope you were able to warm up quickly.
Nice run @ContraryMaryMary . Glad the calf behaved. I love that you and hubby went out for a special dinner just because you could.5 -

46.50/80.00 miles
I went to the gym this morning. I knew it had been a while, but didn't realize until now that is was the first time this year. No wonder I maxed out on the dead lift at 100 pounds. (My PR is 120). Unfortunately, with the forecasted weather, I probably won't get to go again until maybe next Friday. I wish I could convince myself to do a little bit of strength work at home.
After the gym, I worked at daycare, in the baby and one year old classes, until 3:30 and then ran some errands. It was late when I got home. I was tired and hungry, so just did my minimum 1 mile treadmill walk....I did run one quarter at 4.5 mph just to get it done a little bit faster.
I was glad I had an extra shirt with me today - in case I sweated at the gym. I didn't sweat, but had an incident in the one year old class where I picked up a child and after I set him back down noticed that my shirt was wet. Now, if you work at daycare, that is the worst, because you are never quite sure what bodily fluid has suddenly appeared out of no where. Turns out his diaper had not been put on securely and he had peed around the edge and all over his pants...and my shirt. So, after he got cleaned up, so did I.5 -
@quilteryoyo well that was memorable
@ContraryMaryMary great your calf is back. Asia is always fun for a little bit.
@yirara fog is definitely magical
@Laurz9191 hope you get better soon
@AlphaHowls glad your foot is on the mend
@rusgolden good detour
@tarun_yadavA guess what I had for lunch? 😂
@martaindale hill country is always fun. That's also my go to in canada
@chris_in_cal i like doing running tours of other cities and places
So I'm back in Singapore. Bangkok was fun but beginning to get a bit crowded.
Did a 6k run this morning. Came across a desalinization plant that had some nice views. Ran into some feathered folks

Another 4 mile run today. I didn't see any critters, but I did see a skunk in my neighbor's yard when I let my dog out before I ran. Luckily, he didn't notice us. It wasn't as cold today but it is going to get cold again next week. I'm planning to do my "long" run tomorrow since it is going to be much colder on Sunday. I probably won't get my usual 10 miles, but I am hoping for 10K. It has been really windy and dusty today. It's supposed to be windy all weekend. I really hope the dust settles. It is giving me a headache.
